Tak, Erik... Nice video showing you harrowing trip... I am 69 years old now, two weeks ago... I delivered sailboats through the mid 70s to mid 80's and then took many trips through the 90's all going from the NYC area delivering only large sailboats, 36 to 80 plus. Only hiring crew I needed, but many times alone. One trip in particular, from Tiverton Rhode Island down to NJ. Usually an easy two to three day sail in good weather. Turned into a harrowing experience. Around 1977, a mate and I began in sunny weather, NO GPS in those days, no good advance weather. A hurrican was coming up the coast below New Jersey and as we were heading down Long Island NY, we hit 40 know winds, 20 to 30 foot seas, sometimes going to 50 feet. No sails up we were making 10 ti 11 knots!! My mate began to cry, thinking we were going to die. I stayed tethered to the helm all night into the next day. The mate was calling Coast Guard for a rescue. I didn't know about that. They said we were on our own as they had lost 5 other yachts out near us. I miss those days... LOL.. Nice videos you put out. I am now a subscriber. Be safe Lad...
Very impressive and powerful, these rising dark waves of the Northern sea ... Amazing that one reefed jib pulls the boat ahead. Must be one-of-a-kind feeling to nap on the floor at night while the boat swifts through the water
I had a 43.5 Beneteau that carried the same hardware. I've been caught in some tough spots with her, and the vessels were built strong! I traveled 12 hrs downwind in 40kts of wind with a dry cockpit and no problems. My sailing was in the Caribbean, with more running from hurricanes than I care to admit. This North Sea and that brutal weather is hard on your body. Singlehanding is tricky when the conditions are demanding, as you well know. My hat's off to you, brother! GENE GREGORY SV/ "LAST LAUGH"
So much Repect for the way you sail and share it with us. Its nice too know your feelings even without havent done such strong single handed storm sailing session over night. Inspiring and Amazing! Greetings from Berlin, Tyskland

I was going to say if reality TV was like this, there would be a good reason to watch it. This is the kind of journey that is memorable once it is all over. Awesome footage, I soiled my pants when it got close to that Lighthouse with those big cliffs. Thanks for sharing your adventures, it is inspiring to see other human beings doing great stuff for no other reason but freedom. Long live Erik the Viking, a true Spirit🌊⛵
Definitely the most atmospheric, the real deal peace on you brother.✌️
Wow, I’m impressed. You have more guts than I can even dream of
Good luck for your Greenland trip. Let's hope that your Viking Gods give you better health and weather this time around.
🙏
Very impressive and powerful, these rising dark waves of the Northern sea ... Amazing that one reefed jib pulls the boat ahead. Must be one-of-a-kind feeling to nap on the floor at night while the boat swifts through the water
I like all of this!🦾
bravo!!!!! Glad your journey ended safe and well.... greetings from Belgium! 🤗

So much Repect for the way you sail and share it with us. Its nice too know your feelings even without havent done such strong single handed storm sailing session over night. Inspiring and Amazing! Greetings from Berlin, Tyskland
Days like that fade from memory. But they leave knowledge in their wake. Well sailed.
