- See how to rattle-proof the area under the trunk lid. I go over what I did and offer tips and suggestions. The trunk in the WRX/STI is a rattle-breeding area and rattle-proofing is an easy and necessary way to remove rattles and vibrations and increase the clarity of your sound system, particularly if there is a sub installed. Here’s the sound and rattle proofing materials I used or recommend:
Singer Roadkill Carpet Pad → amzn.to/2NXEyfD This is what you see me using under the dash near the end. I installed this under the WRX’s carpet and it provided awesome noise reduction and I had some left over and put it to good use under the dash.
Sound Deadening Mats I recommend → amzn.to/2ZTwJyR These load the thin metal on the car chassis with enough weight to stop unnecessary rattling at certain frequencies. Sound deadening your car is one of the easiest ways of making your interior feel luxurious.

Foam tape → amzn.to/31k61Mi Pick the size you want, use what you need, and put the rest away. You’ll need it again some day.

OMG BRO YOUR A LIFE SAVER, i put speakers and a sub in my wrx trunk and it kept rattling i thought it was my wing but it wasnt it was my trunk, bro thank you that rattle sound was driving me insane im liking this and subscribing
Definately good video for rattles in the trunk. I would of covered the majority of the part under the plastic over with dynamat material and the entire plastic pieces with the closed cell foam for a bit more sound reduction. When i close my trunk now it has a solid more well built feel and thump.

Great video man! I will do this part too. Make sure you put some sound deadening around the gas cap area while you're inside. My gas cap cover was rattling too.
My bumper is rattling where it meets the quarter panel. Might be your source.

Yes, at 17k/15mo, my '19 WRX has developed the ubiquitous rear shelf rattle. Acceleration and rough roads generate noise. With it cold out, the noise is more pronounced and happens more often.
Might as well put 4"x4" squares on the trunk lid while you are in there.

Just got a deal on black Friday for the exact same mono amp and sub finally for WRX - holy heck what a difference the sub makes at low freq. But now my taillights are rattling along with the quarter panel it’s crazy lol
@@akqjtn Def good advices on that. I'll try that later this month during holiday time. I did sound deadening for the majority of my car but unfortunately half-ass'd the quarter panel by only doing the lower portion lol. Lesson learnt not to half-ass anything now i gotta go back.

I have a ford escape every got damn thing on this car rattled so I took it in and had the entire inside done and whoa it made an extremely big difference I've got two American bass vfl signature series with the grand father amp so it's pretty extreme
They make a roll of slim soundproofing would work great on the plastic back of the cover
Having a similar problem in my corolla only problem is I don't know if the rattle is from the speakers or from the trunk lid area when the bass is high

It's been a year. So how have the trunk area hold up? The aft dash board is driving me nuts.
My STI doesn’t have the cover you had to remove. Is that normal?
I have a rattle on my 2006 sti with 124,000 miles. Seems to be coming from between the inside of the windshield and dash. Driving me loco.
I think the third brake light is one of the worst spots on most cars. Especially these newer wrx/sti
yeah that rattles a lot. I ended up using some friction tape on contact points and then some foam shoved in there to put pressure on the inside. Removed the rattle completely, i heard you can also use a shop towel or rag shoved inside as well.

I have tow sub and wen i open the trunk the sound become very loud but wen i closed the sound is shit.. Why?

Subarus are such pieces of shit. Worst engines you could ask for. I think trunk rattle is the least of anyone's concerns.
