Nice video! Thank you!! I have a rattle in the rear dash like you mentioned in my 2017 STI, and I'm losing my complete mind. Im definitely going to tackle this one. Thanks again!
Well, I just did this today. Not a terrible job, but putting it back together was a bit of a pain. The thicker soundskins made it harder to line up the plastic pop rivets. I also forgot to take pics of the front of the trim before popping it all apart - big mistake. Tooke me 15-20 mins to figure out how it all snaps back together. Take before pics folks, even if you think it's an easy job. It does make a nice difference. Is it a Lexus now? No, but those little rattles are gone, and that's worth it!
i have the harmon kardon system and it rattles badly i'm not sure of it's the brake led section that rattles or the whole rear dash so this vid helps cheers again .I like the way you explain everything clearly and make it simple
Great guide. I bought some Roadkill Carpet Pad and it works great. No rattles so far, and a noticeable noise reduction in the cabin. I made sure to leave the area under the cabin pressure vents unblocked, so no problems closing the doors and no effect on the ac blower.
Thanks for this video man! I bought 2015 STI about a month ago and have this rattle. I'm about to tackle all the road noise and rattles it has as soon as it gets a little cooler.
I have a base model 06XT which missed out severely when the soundproofing was handed out. I have bought rolls of adhesive foam to try and suppress the rattles. Works for a while but new rattles will always develop. Went for a ride in a new Camry. Dead quite. Like chalk and cheese.
Thank you for this video, i thought it was way more difficult to remove but your video makes it simple. I did the dynamat on my trunk and door but a Lot of sound still gets through that rear dash. especially at highway speed.
This is great, never had rattle issue with my 2020 STI until I had a built motor done and especially after tuning, guess factory plastic isn't fond of 500+ whp now lol. Thanks for making this!
This video was super helpful! I ended up using soundskins and putting the sticky part on the metal. So happy to get rid of that annoying rear dash rattle
Great video! quality is fine to my standard. rather see someone showing me "how to" then me just jumping in and breaking panels. love it! Thank you ! =)
That was a great video! I had a 2015 3.6r Outback (until last Wednesday when it was totaled in a accident with a pickup). I’ve owned a bunch of Subaru’s over the years, all of them were awesome cars! I will say that the older ones I had had a few rattles. I wished I had the courage back then to pull door covers and rear dashes apart to fix them like you did.
Would of been nice to have a before and after brother ..I did just lid with killmat and it helped a lot bc not all rattle is bad rattle sometimes you eliminate your acoustics when you do a ton of soundproofing I guess it depends on your application like you said, all in all awesome job!
@@akqjtn Cool, can't wait to see those, your other vids on dashcams helped a lot too. I did similar things under the C pillar covers but now I will do the rear shelf and also iron out a few rattles in the front dash.
@@akqjtn Yeah there is a bunch of rattle location. The rear dash, The rear dash break light. The Arm rest extension button, shifter console, Instrument cluster cover, Radio cover, Tweater dash covers. Area underneath the door covers where the hand grip part is. I mostly just used friction or fabric tape and i have finally eliminated pretty much all rattles in my 2015 wrx. Top of my driver side door cover seems to rattle on occasions and i think thats the only place left for me. I have solid, Trans mount, whiteline positive shift kit, diff mount reinforcement, various underbody mount reinforcement. So my car is even more harsh then stock. I like your idea on the foam tape as there is some thicker areas where i had to triple up on the tape and the foam probably would of worked better.
Just got a 2020 STi and yeah rattles are a bit annoying especially coming from a ’17 GTI where everything is nice and quiet inside. I love my STi is a different animal but Subaru could’ve made a bit of an effort to make it quieter. Also own a ‘21 Outback the interior is a very nice place to be especially with the tech and the huge screen but still my ‘17 GTI had less road noise. Overall I love Subaru! ❤️
@@akqjtn the video helped out tremendously, thank you. After getting everything done including the trunk it still rattled, this whole time it was the rear break light in the window. Once I padded that with the foam tape material you mentioned everything sounding great! I have to 12 inch subs in the back lol, the rattling was literally driving me crazy...
is it easier to do the top side of the rear shelf or the bottom side (in the trunk) with the deadener? The CCF mat is better on the top side of the rear shelf, but even it too could go underneath if it has a sticky backing. Less stuff to remove if you go from underneath...right? No one sees the underside of the rear shelf in the trunk.
Just to confirm. Do the side c pillar covers have to come off? Or can i do this without removing those? And as I’ve heard from others should the battery be disconnected? Never heard you confirm that.
so i have a 2019 subaru wrx cvt model planning on getting a cobb air intake with the v3 access port has well with a charge pipe, boost controller, turbo inlet hose and a boomba bpv i will be ordering all at once and installing all one time, any advice on what to do? thanks

The rear brake light is vibrating on the rear window or below... Driving me nuts. Definitely going to tackle this winter.

Man I wish I can bring my WRX to you, so you can fix all my problems
Worked exactly as you showed. Pops out and back in easily. Some foam was rubbed all the way to the plastic. Replaced it, rattle is gone. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the video, the rear dash removal was especially helpful.
dude, this is my project tomorrow! thanks for releasing this
let me know how it went

I'm getting my new 2021 cvt wrx April 21st, and I've been watching all of your videos in preparation. Keep doing the good work :)
This video was EXACTLY what I need big thanks. I got horrible vibration noises right there

Boy am I glad you decided to release this video. Thank you so much this was the clearest best explained video out there. Hope your doing well

Recently found your subwoofer install video and now this one. Thanks for the videos man! Saving my life out here 😅
Thx for this video! This is the most helpful. My sound deadening material just came in and I’m gonna use this for help
Thank u. I offroad my wrex and the rear dash rattles soooo much.
I am currently doing it but the only thing I have is carpet that I used for the sub box. Will comeback to say if it’s even worth anything
You’re inspiring. Thanks so much!! What did you do with the back light?
The perfect video for what I'm trying to do. Thanks!
Thanx mate, i was about to go dealership for fixing that annoying noise.
Hey, mate. Very helpful video.
How are these rattles now a year on? Anything you would do differently or add?

Thanks for the video man, really appreciate the info!
I’ve already said it, but I’ll repeat it. Dude, you are the fucking man!
Brilliant, thank you 😊
Amazing video thank you!!!

Great vid gonna do this on my 15' later haha
Nice video man. Very helpful.
How did you flip the panel back over and keep the rubber mat in place?
Thank you for uploading the video!
should i put the paper on the actual pannel or the metal frame of the rear deck

Is still recommended to get the sound deadening mat even without having a subwoofer?
awesome
Third brake light not a reverse light bro
