I was eating tons of berries and avocados last year thinking i was being healthy. But my digestion and joint pain was SO bad! Heard about histamine intolerance and cut these foods out and man, i haven’t had those issues since! So sad though, cause strawberries and blueberries and guacamole were my fave foods!

Your explanation about histamine building on aged food explains a lot to me because I would eat chicken I cooked and have no problems with it but 2 days later I’d eat leftovers of the same batch and have a small reaction. I’ve never heard that explained so thank you 🙏🏻

This explains why pure Lion diet (Meat, salt and Water) works for those with issues with Histamine's, oxalate, dairy intolerance, Gluten sensitivities, ect. It's virtually impossible to work out which foods and environmental triggers cause the problems.
I see your point, but keep in mind that animal foods do develop histamine oven time if left too many days in the fridge or slow cooked (like 12-hour broth) or when aged or cured. Plant foods provide antioxidants and fiber that feeds the Microbiome. The long term plan is to have good bacteria that help us break down the components in plants we can’t digest. Humans lived with bacteria in our gut symbiotically for thousands of years

Legumes are powerful if you can eat them. Sprouted legumes were my immediate goal after reading about HI, but it took ten days to sprout some pinto beans, and I'd need a place to put ten pots if I wanted to eat a pot of them a day. The HI diet is truly 20-50x harder than the celiac diet and success seems to hinge on exceptions. Quercetin or thymoquinone may offer some leeway, or DAO supplements. People starting an HI diet may only have half a dozen foods to begin with, and may have to painstakingly refine their available foods before they get a foothold... but ideally that should only last a week or a month, not years, and in my case I was often happy to "regain" one or two foods in a week, then it was three or four in an average week. (It didn't cure my intolerances, but it made them easier to tolerate.) Rice can even be sprouted -- sprouting reduces oxalates, histamine, and phytates IIRC... and on that note, sufficient butyrate (in resistant starches IIRC, and elsewhere maybe?) may reduce oxalate uptake down to four percent of what it was prior in some people (maybe search Google Scholar for "butyrate oxalate study"), and that can make a huge difference in inflammation. Very much will depend on one's specific pathology (disclaimer: I'm a patient, not an expert). I'm a celiac and I have different needs from other notable groups at risk for HI, but I should still watch my copper, salt, etc. More salt probably did help me: I lost all the foods I liked it on, and it took time to find others. Fresh and frozen things are our friends, dandelion should be everywhere. And there's meat too, but I try to take a cold-pressed oil- and prebiotic-heavy approach, with a lot of sprouty protein and some varied carbs and the whole grains I can tolerate. Anyway, you're not wrong, but "everything that's available" leaves a lot to be desired from my perspective.
@@CTheos the low histamine diet is not easy and that’s why we try to find the underlying root causes so you don’t have to live with this diet. For now, try eating chicken, beef, salmon, turkey that you cook same day or the day before. You can eat white potato, sweet potato, beets, carrots, zucchini, green beans, lettuce, arugula, cucumber, broccoli… you can eat rice, oats, and quinoa… you can use fresh herbs, olive oil, coconut oil… and if you’d like nuts or seeds, choose a little bit of almonds, pumpkin seeds, chia or hemp… there are some options … I hope this helps!
This is a great talk. I’ve been doing low histamine for about 10 days. I have SLE Lupus and I have itching skin so bad, no rash, until it bleeds. No doctor had any clue. I researched on my own and found low histamine, turmeric tea, and I switched my laundry detergent to an enzymatic type with no fragrance and rewashed everything. Also saw that Benadryl would help so I’m taking one or 2 of those per day. I haven’t had an itching attack in 3 or 4 days and I was having them every day for 6 years so this is a blessing for me. I’m on plaquinil for the lupus. Thank you for your list of low histamine foods also. I like celery slices quick sautéed in coconut oil with thyme and Redmond salt, it’s really good. Thyme tastes great when heated in a sautee and ii think it helps with controlling histamine.
You might find that quercetin and vitamin B five are preferable to taking Benadryl for the rest of your life, that is what I do, but the information in this video is so helpful as I am eating all the wrong things! Namaste 🙏

I have been having itchy skin and digestive problems for almost 4 years. No one has been able to figure it out. I honestly believe I have a histamine problem. I’ve been researching and everything fits. The trigger foods, the symptoms, the problems. How do I confirm my hypothesis? I’m tired of trying to figure it out. This is relate to me. But i decide to fix my histamine metabolism, instead of avoiding histamine food. Because avoiding doesnt make sense to me. I did it by improving gut microbiome. My rhinitis is gone for good

Hi.. i eat fermented food, variety of fruits and vegetables. Avoid dairy, antibiotic, and sugar. if you want to eat meat, please choose organic meat. And i follow circadian eating window. Which mean, i stop eating at around 17.00-18.00. But im not sure if this eating window is suitable for kids. Eating window is very important for adult. Since our intestine need time to rest. And most importantly, 70% of our immune system is in the gut
And also, avoid all processed food. Almost all product that available in grocery store (snack, etc). Train your gut to adapt to high fiber diet. Dont do snack in between meal. (Normally 2-3 meal for adult)

I got blood work back that I have high histamine. And sensitive to wheat, eggs, casein, and a bunch of shellfish. No allergies to them but sensitivities. Thanks for the info. There is a lot out there and some conflicting advice as to what foods are high in histamine. Will see Dr this week.
Years ago when I first started having reactions, my sister suggested it could be nightshade family intolerance. Last year a friend of mine said I had HI. I researched safe and bad foods and found there was a cross over with some foods. So if you're on a low histamine diet and still getting reactions, maybe look at what nightshade foods you still eat and remove them. My biggest issue now is trying to lower my diabetes level that skyrocketed once I introduced certain foods that were meant to be safe. Such a fine line with getting to the bottom of all this :/ For now I am going to try and do the carnivore diet again and see how that helps my reactions and diabetes

I've recently begun considering whether histamine intolerance is causing or contributing to my condition: migraines, bouts of itching, vertigo, dragging fatigue, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, bladder irritation and pain, getting overheated very quickly, breaking into a sweat after doing something like walking up one flight of stairs, very strong reaction to mosquito bites, congestion, itchy eyes...I even broke into a sweat and got really nauseous just following the movements of physical therapist's finger! I've been examined from head to foot, put through a battery of x-rays, and tests. Conclusion: there's something wrong but we don't know what it is. Final diagnosis: post-viral syndrome (probably). I'd already identified some of the foods on the high histamine list as migraine and IBS triggers. I started with monthly prophylactic injections for migraine. I had nasty reactions with extensive swelling and itching that made my life a misery. I decided to take antihistamines before the shot. Yes, the side-effects dampened to bearable. But my dizziness, nausea, and congestion downgraded to mere shadows of their former selves. Then I tried taking an antihistamine in the early stages of a migraine and the migraine stopped. The downside of the antihistamine tablet is that I sleep for hours after I take it and feel limp and stupid while I'm awake. It's still preferable. I only take one antihistamine tablet a day, except for the migraine shot, when I take two 30 minutes before. A low-histamine diet trial can't hurt and may help!
This was wonderful!!! This is going to sound crazy but my mother and grandmother and myself are all highly sensitive to all high histamine foods. All three of us will get extreme vertigo and nausea it can last days!!! We all have decided after this night mare of a life we just want to eat all low histamine vegetables, all low histamine fruits. I eat only the organic turkey patties from the freezer section in the grocery store. When ever I eat non frozen meat I'm sick. We also can eat almonds with no problem. If I need a treat I will have a frozen Italian ice or White chocolate two small pieces. I am also eating a half a cup of white rice everyday and a large baked apple with cinnamon. I will eat this way for the rest of my life because it took me 20 years of suffering. This was in my D&A, Thank you for this!!! I will continue to watch your other video's so I can help others who may have this problem.
Eating any animal products will cause TMAO in your digestive system, which can have symptoms similar to Histamine, such as itching, redness, allergic symptoms, atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome.

I was so confused when I ate plain cooked rice with a ripe avocado, but kept feeling awful! I then found out that an inflamed small intestine, might produce less DAO until more healing takes place..
I have always had issues with green tea, fermented/aged milk produce and many pickles. While I love tomatoes, eating too much of them def triggers something- and same with chocolate. When I first started keto, I didn't realize how I left out most of these foods, and thought it was only the bread etc. that had caused issues.

Yes, exactly. Many people add fermented foods to improve gut health but it backfires. But hopefully you can work on healing your gut and underlying root causes so you can eat leftovers and fermented foods

I sure appreciate your knowledge because this is an area that has not been addressed with my eczema and I have done all kinds of vegetables and all kinds of fruits I juice and I bland, but some of them are histamines and I’ve been making cheap cuts of meat, like a chuck roast and coconut and my electric skillet for three or four hours with onions and a little tiny red potatoes and baby carrots And I thought that was OK and I ate that all week and it was very good every night for dinner and I had my baby greens and salads greens in my smoothies and juices cause I don’t have to put salad dressings on amino but I guess I have to buy something else that I can cook and just eat fast and not cook it slow on 200 or something that’s what I do with my chuck roast I’ve got four of them in the freezer not gonna cook fast and be tender
Incredible. I was allowed to 95% of these foods as a child. I’m now not officially allergic to any of them as an adult. I don’t drink much alcohol because it immediately blocks up my sinuses and causes instantaneous headache!

Here're a few questions ; 1) If I cook gluten free, dairy free, vegan, low histamine Zucchini (ingredients mostly squash, dill, parsley, scallion and hemp seed as binders) and keep cooked Zucchinis in the fridge for 1 week long meal, does it still produce Histamine ? 2) Buckweat flour and psyllium husk as pancake ingredients Still histaminic? 3) would an organic grape molasses be histaminic? (Organic, glass jar ) 4) would an carob molasses be still histaminic? 5) Lastly, have I heard correct; almond flour still high histaminic? 6) As someone from Turkey, I would ask if Sumac is histaminic? Ive had year round allergies for 40 years and includes asthma. Ive been tested and found allergic to: grass, trees, pollen, hay, animal dander, nuts, dust, mold, shellfish and intolerance to starchy foods, gluten, no rice, potatoes, bread, etc. I cut out sugar and all starches and glutens years ago. I also developed nasal polyps the past years which Ive been trying to tackle now as it impacts my sleep! Thank you for your information.
I was diagnosed with MS 14 years ago and through trial and error, all these foods listed as contains or produces histamine are problematic for me. I never understood the connection between them and I wish I was informed about histamine that long ago as it would have saved me many years pain and suffering.
Are you saying that you were misdiagnosed with MS completely (that you dont actually have it after all) or that it reduced your MS symptoms ? How much better do you feel now that you are on low histamine compared to a few years ago ?
@@ratgreen I was not misdiagnosed, I was diagnosed with RRMS from two neurologists through spinal tap and MRI in 2009. There was hardly any info online about MS I continued to eat the regular SAD diet for the first year and I continued to read whatever was available online. I found I needed to avoid extra salt, dairy, saturated fat, and mercury teeth filings which I had. I had my amalgam removed, and I ate salmon (farm raised at the time :( I didn't know better), broccoli, chicken and white rice (which I later changed to brown rice). I started introducing one new food and I would eat it roughly every other day for 2 weeks and see If symptoms changed. Symptoms were numbness, tingling, burning, weakness in different areas in head, face, both legs below (slightly above knee) all way down to toes. If i had increased symptoms, I would know to avoid the food. I got better to the point where all symptoms reversed except for numbness in my left toes. 2.5 years ago I thought I recovered to the point where I thought to try some yogurt, and I ate it with no issues and I thought I was finally recovered and my body is accepting these prohibited foods, then I hate ice cream, then I tried whole wheat bread (made at home, simple organic soaked wheat, water and yeast) then nut butter (almond and mixed nuts) Then cakes and I continued indulging for a little over a year then I started feeling tingling in my tongue and I knew I had screwed up. Gradually all my old symptoms that were gone for years came back with vengeance with additional areas in the body impacted (which were mostly the arms and torso). I followed this diet by a doctor called doctor Dr Goldner which is mostly smoothies and It wrecked my gut where my gut felt being shredded from the inside. I started searching and came across carnivore and I was skeptical and worried because of what I had learned years ago about saturated fat. I gave it a try for closed to 5 months and it was hard to get away from carbs. specially fruit. The shredding in my gut improved over time until it went away but two things were fixed which I struggled with my whole life even before MS, that is fatigue, I always felt fatigued with no energy even as a kid. It is a different feeling being able to wak up 5:30 in the morning full of energy and not have to sleep until 9:00 p.m. I also had bladder issues where I had to get up and use the bathroom at night at least twice even if I avoided drinking 3-4 hours before bed. It ruined my sleep. That was gone with carnivore. I had learned that carnivore is good short term but not long term because the gut needs prebiotic fiber , so I started introducing asparagus, okra, cabbage, and cauliflower. Some are not low FODMAP unless they are pressure cooked and water is drained to dump all the oxalates and antinutrients. So I eat grass fed fatty meat( mostly chuck roast pressure cooked), grass fed beef liver, wild caught salmon (sockeye mostly), tallow which I get from the chuck roast after pressure cooking and letting the meat broth cool in the fridge, tallow float at the top and hardens then I eat it with the meat when it is frozen (takes time to get used to). I also noticed my gallbladder isn't working correctly. I could only eat 6-7 TBSP of tallow, fat trimmings and I should be able to eat double that amount if my gallbladder is working correctly. so hopefully that gets fixed overtime as I increase the amount of Fats. I also eat 2-3 oz of organic frozen blueberries per week. I know it will take a few more years to recover but it seems things are finally improving slowly. During my journey that all high histamine high FODMAP triggered my symptoms. Also during the years, I would eat Lamb every now and then but I always avoided Beef. Now I eat mostly Beef everyday. I also eat salmon twice a week. I take magnesium glycinate 200mg before bed by an hour, I take potassium citrate, and 5000 IUs D3 per day during winter time. I take 30 minute walks every day and I sprint once a week ) Eating mostly meat with low carb will cause your body to flush the sodium and you need magnesium and potassium to balance the electrolytes. I wish I could have one banana a day for the potassium but I can't and it is high in carbs as well which will make me feel fatigued. I hope this helps any MS sufferers.
@@ratgreen i responded and it seems my comment was removed. i was not misdiagnosed and I still have MS but it was greatly improved on a hightfat, low protein low fodmap ow histamine diet. i mostly eat fatty meat and some pressure cooked low carb veggies. my fatigue is completely gone, brain fog gone. , a lot of numbness is gone. bladder control is back to completely normal. i eat very little organic raw honey 1-2 tbsp per week. no fruits
For those with Long Covid or PASC, GI issues can be a real ongoing problem. I am a first waiver, and in the early stages of the pandemic, the medical community was struggling to help patients. For eight months, my doctors didn't have any idea of things to do. Another Long Hauler, as we called ourselves in those days, doctor was treating people with a similar disorder and recommended a low histamine diet. It worked for him and people across the world learned from his experience how to care for themselves and educate their physicians.

I have one question about egg white - might it just be the albumin in RAW egg white that’s the problem? During the second time of getting covid day 2 of being sick my mouth and hands started tingling. Got over Covid and a week later start getting hives (MCAS). Noticed some foods set me off. Blows my mind one day you can eat what you want and the next day you got food allergies. Have you dealt with people who had covid non vaxxed and get MCAS? Whats odd these hives last 24-36 hours and move somewhere else. My doctor is cluesless and all my bloodwork came back good beside Vit D is at 11. Its winter time in the north. Its making my life misable and had to quit working because the pain and flares make my hands, feet swell, and my joints hurt. Going low hist for a time. Never had skin issues before getting Covid the second time.
Hi Dr., Im a little confused about the chicken and turkey. I buy both precooked and packaged (Trader Joes) and they are clean, no additives. yes, freeze everything in flat single portions for easy thawing. some deli-type meats are already very high histamine, tho, so you might want to avoid until you are symptom-free, then test.
@@ca147 I did 72 of 'Water Only' fasting and my body experienced miraculous hives reduction! Not sure if it'll work for others. My issue is I have bad gut and apparently fasting does some gut repair. Soon I will go on one full week 'Water Only' fasting and see if that will cure my gut permanently. I will update this feed. P.S I think the health industry does not promote fasting as it is free and they don't make money out of it.
I want to try this but I really worry about getting enough protein. I dont have time nor the money to afford to drive all the way to the supermarket every few days for fresh meat, and even then, theres not many sources of protein left. Any good sources of protein that dont break the bank? Inflation has made meat super expensive.
I've read that coffee is low histamine, but can block DAO. Is this true? Im suspecting a histamine intolerance and am following a low histamine diet, but coffee/espresso is my absolute worst trigger.
It is too difficult to apply if i want test these restrictions. I'm vegan since 15 years. I don't want to eat only quinoa, rice, oat, and "sarrasin" (i forget how we say in english, i'm french) with cabbage, cabbage and few vegetables. I prefer to buy DAO enzyme vegan (anti-histamine) from germ of pea.
Basically avoid all sugar, high carbs, processed foods, bakery, barbq, gluton due to highly inflamatory and milk due to high estrogen
fermented foods and certain vegetables and fruits are high in histamine and needs to be avoided (but only short term until you fix the problem)

I was eating tons of berries and avocados last year thinking i was being healthy. But my digestion and joint pain was SO bad! Your explanation about histamine building on aged food explains a lot to me because I would eat chicken I cooked and have no problems with it but 2 days later I’d eat leftovers of the same batch and have a small reaction. I’ve never heard that explained so thank you 🙏🏻

I see your point, but keep in mind that animal foods do develop histamine oven time if left too many days in the fridge or slow cooked (like 12-hour broth) or when aged or cured. Plant foods provide antioxidants and fiber that feeds the Microbiome. The long term plan is to have good bacteria that help us break down the components in plants we can’t digest. Yes, I am ready to give up living altogether. Living is darnn too hazardous.
Legumes are powerful if you can eat them. Sprouted legumes were my immediate goal after reading about HI, but it took ten days to sprout some pinto beans, and I'd need a place to put ten pots if I wanted to eat a pot of them a day. The HI diet is truly 20-50x harder than the celiac diet and success seems to hinge on exceptions. Quercetin or thymoquinone may offer some leeway, or DAO supplements. People starting an HI diet may only have half a dozen foods to begin with, and may have to painstakingly refine their available foods before they get a foothold... but ideally that should only last a week or a month, not years, and in my case I was often happy to "regain" one or two foods in a week, then it was three or four in an average week. (It didn't cure my intolerances, but it made them easier to tolerate.)
Rice can even be sprouted -- sprouting reduces oxalates, histamine, and phytates IIRC... and on that note, sufficient butyrate (in resistant starches IIRC, and elsewhere maybe?) may reduce oxalate uptake down to four percent of what it was prior in some people (maybe search Google Scholar for "butyrate oxalate study"), and that can make a huge difference in inflammation. Very much will depend on one's specific pathology (disclaimer: I'm a patient, not an expert). I'm a celiac and I have different needs from other notable groups at risk for HI, but I should still watch my copper, salt, etc. More salt probably did help me: I lost all the foods I liked it on, and it took time to find others.
Fresh and frozen things are our friends, dandelion should be everywhere. And there's meat too, but I try to take a cold-pressed oil- and prebiotic-heavy approach, with a lot of sprouty protein and some varied carbs and the whole grains I can tolerate. Anyway, you're not wrong, but "everything that's available" leaves a lot to be desired from my perspective.

@@CTheos the low histamine diet is not easy and that’s why we try to find the underlying root causes so you don’t have to live with this diet. For now, try eating chicken, beef, salmon, turkey that you cook same day or the day before. You can eat white potato, sweet potato, beets, carrots, zucchini, green beans, lettuce, arugula, cucumber, broccoli… you can eat rice, oats, and quinoa… you can use fresh herbs, olive oil, coconut oil… and if you’d like nuts or seeds, choose a little bit of almonds, pumpkin seeds, chia or hemp… there are some options … I hope this helps!

This is a great talk. I’ve been doing low histamine for about 10 days. I have SLE Lupus and I have itching skin so bad, no rash, until it bleeds. No doctor had any clue. I researched on my own and found low histamine, turmeric tea, and I switched my laundry detergent to an enzymatic type with no fragrance and rewashed everything. Also saw that Benadryl would help so I’m taking one or 2 of those per day. I haven’t had an itching attack in 3 or 4 days and I was having them every day for 6 years so this is a blessing for me.
I’m on plaquinil for the lupus. Thank you for your list of low histamine foods also. I like celery slices quick sautéed in coconut oil with thyme and Redmond salt, it’s really good. Thyme tastes great when heated in a sautee and ii think it helps with controlling histamine.

Hi.. i eat fermented food, variety of fruits and vegetables. Avoid dairy, antibiotic, and sugar. if you want to eat meat, please choose organic meat. And i follow circadian eating window. Which mean, i stop eating at around 17.00-18.00. But im not sure if this eating window is suitable for kids. Eating window is very important for adult. Since our intestine need time to rest. And most importantly, 70% of our immune system is in the gut
And also, avoid all processed food. Almost all product that available in grocery store (snack, etc). Train your gut to adapt to high fiber diet. Dont do snack in between meal. (Normally 2-3 meal for adult)

Years ago when I first started having reactions, my sister suggested it could be nightshade family intolerance. Last year a friend of mine said I had HI. I researched safe and bad foods and found there was a cross over with some foods. So if you're on a low histamine diet and still getting reactions, maybe look at what nightshade foods you still eat and remove them.
My biggest issue now is trying to lower my diabetes level that skyrocketed once I introduced certain foods that were meant to be safe. Such a fine line with getting to the bottom of all this :/
For now I am going to try and do the carnivore diet again and see how that helps my reactions and diabetes

I've recently begun considering whether histamine intolerance is causing or contributing to my condition: migraines, bouts of itching, vertigo, dragging fatigue, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, bladder irritation and pain, getting overheated very quickly, breaking into a sweat after doing something like walking up one flight of stairs, very strong reaction to mosquito bites, congestion, itchy eyes...I even broke into a sweat and got really nauseous just following the movements of physical therapist's finger!
I've been examined from head to foot, put through a battery of x-rays, and tests. Conclusion: there's something wrong but we don't know what it is. Final diagnosis: post-viral syndrome (probably).
I'd already identified some of the foods on the high histamine list as migraine and IBS triggers.
I started with monthly prophylactic injections for migraine. I had nasty reactions with extensive swelling and itching that made my life a misery. I decided to take antihistamines before the shot. Yes, the side-effects dampened to bearable. But my dizziness, nausea, and congestion downgraded to mere shadows of their former selves. Then I tried taking an antihistamine in the early stages of a migraine and the migraine stopped.
The downside of the antihistamine tablet is that I sleep for hours after I take it and feel limp and stupid while I'm awake. It's still preferable.
I only take one antihistamine tablet a day, except for the migraine shot, when I take two 30 minutes before.
A low-histamine diet trial can't hurt and may help!

This was wonderful!!! This is going to sound crazy but my mother and grandmother and myself are all highly sensitive to all high histamine foods. All three of us will get extreme vertigo and nausea it can last days!!! We all have decided after this night mare of a life we just want to eat all low histamine vegetables, all low histamine fruits. I eat only the organic turkey patties from the freezer section in the grocery store. When ever I eat non frozen meat I'm sick. We also can eat almonds with no problem. If I need a treat I will have a frozen Italian ice or White chocolate two small pieces. I am also eating a half a cup of white rice everyday and a large baked apple with cinnamon. I will eat this way for the rest of my life because it took me 20 years of suffering. This was in my D&A, Thank you for this!!! I will continue to watch your other video's so I can help others who may have this problem.
Eating any animal products will cause TMAO in your digestive system, which can have symptoms similar to Histamine, such as itching, redness, allergic symptoms, atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome.

I have always had issues with green tea, fermented/aged milk produce and many pickles. While I love tomatoes, eating too much of them def triggers something- and same with chocolate. When I first started keto, I didn't realize how I left out most of these foods, and thought it was only the bread etc. that had caused issues.

I sure appreciate your knowledge because this is an area that has not been addressed with my eczema and I have done all kinds of vegetables and all kinds of fruits I juice and I bland, but some of them are histamines and I’ve been making cheap cuts of meat, like a chuck roast and coconut and my electric skillet for three or four hours with onions and a little tiny red potatoes and baby carrots And I thought that was OK and I ate that all week and it was very good every night for dinner and I had my baby greens and salads greens in my smoothies and juices cause I don’t have to put salad dressings on amino but I guess I have to buy something else that I can cook and just eat fast and not cook it slow on 200 or something that’s what I do with my chuck roast I’ve got four of them in the freezer not gonna cook fast and be tender

Incredible. I was allowed to 95% of these foods as a child. I’m now not officially allergic to any of them as an adult. I don’t drink much alcohol because it immediately blocks up my sinuses and causes instantaneous headache!

Ive had year round allergies for 40 years and includes asthma. Ive been tested and found allergic to: grass, trees, pollen, hay, animal dander, nuts, dust, mold, shellfish and intolerance to starchy foods, gluten, no rice, potatoes, bread, etc. I cut out sugar and all starches and glutens years ago. I also developed nasal polyps the past years which Ive been trying to tackle now as it impacts my sleep!

I was diagnosed with MS 14 years ago and through trial and error, all these foods listed as contains or produces histamine are problematic for me. I never understood the connection between them and I wish I was informed about histamine that long ago as it would have saved me many years pain and suffering.
Are you saying that you were misdiagnosed with MS completely (that you dont actually have it after all) or that it reduced your MS symptoms ? How much better do you feel now that you are on low histamine compared to a few years ago ?
@@ratgreen I was not misdiagnosed, I was diagnosed with RRMS from two neurologists through spinal tap and MRI in 2009. There was hardly any info online about MS I continued to eat the regular SAD diet for the first year and I continued to read whatever was available online. I found I needed to avoid extra salt, dairy, saturated fat, and mercury teeth filings which I had. I had my amalgam removed, and I ate salmon (farm raised at the time :( I didn't know better), broccoli, chicken and white rice (which I later changed to brown rice). I started introducing one new food and I would eat it roughly every other day for 2 weeks and see If symptoms changed. Symptoms were numbness, tingling, burning, weakness in different areas in head, face, both legs below (slightly above knee) all way down to toes. If i had increased symptoms, I would know to avoid the food. I got better to the point where all symptoms reversed except for numbness in my left toes. 2.5 years ago I thought I recovered to the point where I thought to try some yogurt, and I ate it with no issues and I thought I was finally recovered and my body is accepting these prohibited foods, then I hate ice cream, then I tried whole wheat bread (made at home, simple organic soaked wheat, water and yeast) then nut butter (almond and mixed nuts) Then cakes and I continued indulging for a little over a year then I started feeling tingling in my tongue and I knew I had screwed up. Gradually all my old symptoms that were gone for years came back with vengeance with additional areas in the body impacted (which were mostly the arms and torso).
I followed this diet by a doctor called doctor Dr Goldner which is mostly smoothies and It wrecked my gut where my gut felt being shredded from the inside. I started searching and came across carnivore and I was skeptical and worried because of what I had learned years ago about saturated fat. I gave it a try for closed to 5 months and it was hard to get away from carbs. specially fruit. The shredding in my gut improved over time until it went away but two things were fixed which I struggled with my whole life even before MS, that is fatigue, I always felt fatigued with no energy even as a kid. It is a different feeling being able to wak up 5:30 in the morning full of energy and not have to sleep until 9:00 p.m. I also had bladder issues where I had to get up and use the bathroom at night at least twice even if I avoided drinking 3-4 hours before bed. It ruined my sleep. That was gone with carnivore. I had learned that carnivore is good short term but not long term because the gut needs prebiotic fiber , so I started introducing asparagus, okra, cabbage, and cauliflower. Some are not low FODMAP unless they are pressure cooked and water is drained to dump all the oxalates and antinutrients. So I eat grass fed fatty meat( mostly chuck roast pressure cooked), grass fed beef liver, wild caught salmon (sockeye mostly), tallow which I get from the chuck roast after pressure cooking and letting the meat broth cool in the fridge, tallow float at the top and hardens then I eat it with the meat when it is frozen (takes time to get used to). I also noticed my gallbladder isn't working correctly. I could only eat 6-7 TBSP of tallow, fat trimmings and I should be able to eat double that amount if my gallbladder is working correctly. so hopefully that gets fixed overtime as I increase the amount of Fats. I also eat 2-3 oz of organic frozen blueberries per week.
I know it will take a few more years to recover but it seems things are finally improving slowly.
During my journey that all high histamine high FODMAP triggered my symptoms. Also during the years, I would eat Lamb every now and then but I always avoided Beef. Now I eat mostly Beef everyday. I also eat salmon twice a week. I take magnesium glycinate 200mg before bed by an hour, I take potassium citrate, and 5000 IUs D3 per day during winter time. I take 30 minute walks every day and I sprint once a week ) Eating mostly meat with low carb will cause your body to flush the sodium and you need magnesium and potassium to balance the electrolytes. I wish I could have one banana a day for the potassium but I can't and it is high in carbs as well which will make me feel fatigued.

@@ratgreen i responded and it seems my comment was removed. i was not misdiagnosed and I still have MS but it was greatly improved on a hightfat, low protein low fodmap ow histamine diet. i mostly eat fatty meat and some pressure cooked low carb veggies. my fatigue is completely gone, brain fog gone. , a lot of numbness is gone. bladder control is back to completely normal. i eat very little organic raw honey 1-2 tbsp per week. no fruits

For those with Long Covid or PASC, GI issues can be a real ongoing problem. I am a first waiver, and in the early stages of the pandemic, the medical community was struggling to help patients. For eight months, my doctors didn't have any idea of things to do. Another Long Hauler, as we called ourselves in those days, doctor was treating people with a similar disorder and recommended a low histamine diet. It worked for him and people across the world learned from his experience how to care for themselves and educate their physicians.

I've mostly heard the same but I've heard it's usually because of mold in the coffee look online for companies who produce organic coffee and test to make sure it's mold free

I have one question about egg white - might it just be the albumin in RAW egg white that’s the problem?
I was intrigued that you do use tests because they are controversial - as you know, many people tested find that the foods they eat are the ones they are allergic to.

-Ask about when meat was processed. The store may have fresher meat in the back. Check label for possessing date. Pick the freshest.

-Frozen fish is better than fresh unless you live near a coast or source of fresh fish

Food sensitivities - your body will release Histamine in response to foods you're sensitive to
-Keep a food log to see when you react to foods -You can test for food sensitivities.

During the second time of getting covid day 2 of being sick my mouth and hands started tingling. Got over Covid and a week later start getting hives (MCAS). Noticed some foods set me off. Blows my mind one day you can eat what you want and the next day you got food allergies. Have you dealt with people who had covid non vaxxed and get MCAS? Whats odd these hives last 24-36 hours and move somewhere else. My doctor is cluesless and all my bloodwork came back good beside Vit D is at 11. Its winter time in the north. Its making my life misable and had to quit working because the pain and flares make my hands, feet swell, and my joints hurt. Going low hist for a time. Never had skin issues before getting Covid the second time.

Hi Dr., Im a little confused about the chicken and turkey. I buy both precooked and packaged (Trader Joes) and they are clean, no additives. yes, freeze everything in flat single portions for easy thawing. some deli-type meats are already very high histamine, tho, so you might want to avoid until you are symptom-free, then test.

My issue is I have bad gut and apparently fasting does some gut repair.
Soon I will go on one full week 'Water Only' fasting and see if that will cure my gut permanently.

P.S I think the health industry does not promote fasting as it is free and they don't make money out of it.
I want to try this but I really worry about getting enough protein. I dont have time nor the money to afford to drive all the way to the supermarket every few days for fresh meat, and even then, theres not many sources of protein left. It is too difficult to apply if i want test these restrictions. I'm vegan since 15 years. I don't want to eat only quinoa, rice, oat, and "sarrasin" (i forget how we say in english, i'm french) with cabbage, cabbage and few vegetables. I prefer to buy DAO enzyme vegan (anti-histamine) from germ of pea.
