One addition IMPORTANT point: heat destroys vitamin C (as in "pasteurization"), so when you get your sauerkraut, find one that is raw or make it yourself.

I am talking about the raw unpasteurized ones in the health food stores. What would be the point in buying the crappy one that is pasteurized and heat treated?
These good ones still do not list vitamin C.

2:20 The best way to prevent, slow down or reverse plaquing in the arteries:
    • Vitamin K2
    • High vitamin C foods
    • Vitamin E
    • Keep your Omega-6 fatty acids very low and keep your Omega-3 fatty acids very very high
5:13 The best foods for blocked arteries:
    • Wild-caught salmon

    • A big arugula salad with extra-virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar (or red balsamic vinegar), sunflower seeds, Parmigiano cheese (get the authentic type from Italy), and garlic

I am down fifty pounds due to intermittent fasting and eating healthy. My biggest secret is getting a lot of rest and stepping away from stressful situations. My journey has been going on for seven months thus far. I am also over sixty and one of the greatest mindsets is to first eat to get healthy and secondary is the weight loss that will occur. Arugula salads have been my go to food. I am still refining my dietary choices according to every video that I watch. Thank you!🌞🌻🙏🌼

salad is not healthy. its full arsenic. But learn the hard way like everyone else. Meat has the nutrition your body needs. You want to stay away from carbs cause there is not a lot of nutrition in it and it will bloat you and make you tired. All it does is turn into sugar. That is basically what salad does with a ton of arsenic in it. All your doing is putting sugar in your body. Foods that are composed of carbohydrates are turned into sugar or glucose. These include foods such as pasta, bread, vegetables, fruit, and rice= eat meat. Just because you lost weight doesn't mean you are being healthy.

So awesome to hear all this. I am 59 and thought I was eating healthy than most. However, found that I really wasn't eating as well as I thought. I have intermittently fasted now daily for 6+ months doing two close meals a day with once-a-week OMAD and changed the way I eat. Even though I looked fit before, I didn't feel fit. I now lost 20 lbs (went from size 8/10 to 4/6) and my debilitating joint pain and stiffness have subsided. Thanks to Dr. Berg and Dr. Ekberg. Both are Awesome for sharing all of this information. I found them from researching after my husband had a heart attack in the Fall. He has lost 40+ lbs and changed his terrible eating habits and no longer wants to take naps every day and sit on the couch! SO GRATEFUL

Just had my first heart attack yesterday. Had two stents put in. They said 11 is high for cholesterol and mine was 16, two days before the heart attack. I bake my food. I do drink lots of coffee with sugar, smoke and lead a sedentary lifestyle. Guess I'm going to have to change that. The only pain that I've known like it was toothache, except it felt like a toothache in my chest. Was so tired that I barely managed to talk to the paramedics, couldn't get cooled off even lying on the cool floor, and my jaw hurt. I am going to try to ease my way into a better food selection as I don't want to crash my system. Will be watching more vids.

That's why the Slavic community is healthier than many other countries. We all love salmon-I've been eating red fish throughout my entire life in Siberia for 24 years. We also enjoy sunflower seeds, passed down through generations by our grandmothers. It's like a panacea for us. Next is buttermilk, which contains more K2 than most other products. We eat sauerkraut in many forms-raw, in soups, and in salads. Buckwheat is another staple for us, a highly nutritious grain. I once ate only buckwheat for six months and felt fine! We also love garlic and both green and white onions. Personally, I consume plenty of spicy peppers of all kinds. I wish everyone a healthy life!

Meanwhile in Siberia no roads, no infrastructure, schools and hospitals are broken and ruined, no medicine, fake medications, terrible ecology, awful food and water. I don't think salmon will help you there in any ways 😂

Great video, keep in mind periodontal disease is closely related to vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D also helps keep tight junctions between the cells to prevent bacterial leakage. As a dentist i don't believe that periodontal disease spreads to cause dementia, and or cardiovascular disease, but that those individuals with periodontal disease have very low vitamin D levels, which correlated with major illness of every kind. fix the D level (preferably by natural sunlight exposure) which controls the gut microbiome, and a lot of problems disappear....

I had a blockage break loose in my leg while I was sleeping, 18 years ago. It went through my heart and stopped in my neck. I almost died. I passed out. When I awoke, I was in pain from my leg all the way to my heart and up to my neck. I prayed. I didn't want to die. The Lord repeated these words in my mind for hours afrer I prayed: "Grape juice. Grape juice. Grape juice."
Confirming it, my radio was on, listening to a radio program that the host did a commercial for Welch's grape juice.
I bought 5 gallons at a big box grocery store and drank 1 gallon per day. I kept drinking between 1 and 2 gallons per day for about 2 months, then stepped it back to a half gallon per every other day for anotherI month.
My blood pressure was 185 over 110 at the time of the blockage breaking free. After 2 months of drinking grape juice, it was 105 over 60 and stayed there since the past few years, going to 110 over 70. Which is still good. I thank God for His mercy.

Thank you for this valuable information. I’ll be applying this and consuming all of these daily.
    - wild caught salmon has high omega 3 which supports arteries, heart muscles, and decreases arterial inflammation and blood pressure
    - sauerkraut has 7x the rda of vitamin c and k2, high levels of lactic acid bacteria which acts as an ace inhibitor which lowers blood pressure, it inhibits biofilms which can cause plaque, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease through supporting the guy with microbes. Lactic acid helps regulate ldl and enhances production of bio salts which help with the abstention of vitamin d, e, and k2.
    - Vitamin c inhibits biofilms and acts as an antioxidant which prevents lesions and damage to arteries. Biofilms can only stick to rough parts of the arteries which vitamin c prevents.
    - Arugula is good cruciferous which is good for the liver, has blood glucose lowering properties, loaded with DIM which helps lower biofilms. The fiber helps feed bacteria, it’s loaded with potassium which helps keep the arteries soften which effects blood pressure
    - Extra virgin Olive oil has effects on blood pressure as well as anti inflammatory effects.
    - Apple cider vinegar has properties that lower risk of cardiovascular disease. It help lower and regulate blood sugar. Helps regulate cholesterol. Helps mobilize biosalts. Has anti inflammatory properties
    - sunflower seeds spike vitamin E
    - Hard cheeses are loaded with vitamin k2
    - Parmegiano from Italy is produced by a small group of farmers in northern Italy who keep standards high for cheese production. The cows graze on a variety of plants which affect the micronutrient profile of the cheese. Something not done in the United States. Get authentic Italian cheese and shave it onto salad.
    - Parmegiano is a good source of protein, probiotics, and k2.

One of the most useful things you could add to this would just be to explain what sauerkraut is for example: sauerkraut is.... eg: "Sauerkraut is finely cut raw cabbage that has been fermented by various lactic acid bacteria. It has a long shelf life and a distinctive sour flavor, both of which result from the lactic acid formed when the bacteria ferment the sugars in the cabbage leaves. It is one of the best-known national dishes in Germany."

I am Italian and you pronounced Parmigiano correctly doc! That's incredible how the diet you described is really mostly part of our daily intake, especially in the northern part of Italy, where we are closer to Austria and we inherited the culture of sauerkraut.
Of course we do eat also quite a lot of less healthy stuff such as lots of cold cuts, alcohol, sweet cakes and refined grains. But our grandparents did not. Thats why they get to live till 100 whereas the younger generation is "kind of" less healthy. In Italy we say :"if you eat like a king, you'll die like a king" which, by the way, kings were dieing very young and from coronary deseases.

In Italy they eat a piece of parmigiana at the end of all their meals purposely to help digestion. I planted some arugula in my garden one year (homegrown is the best!) and the next year I had arugula coming up all over my yard esp in the flower beds. It was great. I tried Wild Arugula and it turned out to be a perennial, but it is VERY bitter, but still very good! Puts out lots of little yellow flowers that are edible.

Uk - I use to be 22 stone in weight which is 308ibs, I now weigh 15.5 stone which is 217 - my body fat is 27% apparently. I Recently had it checked by a studio in Cambridge for a fee (health check included). I lost a lot of my weight by simply changing my diet, exercising and taking up some hobbies.
    My morning routine: -
around 7-8am awake, I do 30-50 burpees before breakfast
Breakfast - porridge, fruits, fat yogurts (not diet), sometimes toast it depends on work
I skip lunch so between 9am to 5pm I dont eat, except for fruit and water
dinner - anything but carbohydrates, I eat a lot of fish, red meats, vegetables and dry foods.
Snacks - Nuts, dry berries, fruits (oranges my fav I guess because of the sugar) occasionally a square piece of chocolate (rare)
drinks - Coffee and water only. Black coffee mostly.
Exercise - 3-5 days a week. I do weights every 2 days and jog every day that isnt weights. example
monday - weights, arms and chest
    tuesday - 3 mile jog
    wednesday - weights, upper body
thursday - 3 mile jog plus leg weights
friday - weights arms and chest
saturday - rest, usually go out
sunday - depends on family, but I do manage to go for a jog most evenings
Depends on job, life and events happening. But above is a routine I stick to most of the time and its helped me keep the weight off for years after. I am 33 years old now and suffered as a very heavy person at the age of 21.
edit - I did have asthma really badly aswell, my breathing was 350 on the peak flow test but these days it ranges from 600-650, still have asthma. So its hard being asthmatic and overweight. Get the weight in check ppl before its to late.

You are very much right Dr. Berg, I've also heard that bad oral hygiene may lead to cardiovascular issues. Here's the interesting part, intermittent fasting leads to better oral health because one doesn't eat very often so food particles are collected relatively less. In addition, better immunity and to a certain degree autophagy don't let bacteria thrive that well. Of course this is only my own opinion.

Dr. Berg - what do you think about black garlic? It tastes amazing, and doesn't leave you with garlic breath. The fermentation process causes black garlic to contain substantially more antioxidants than raw garlic. This is partly because allicin, the compound that gives garlic its pungent odor when crushed, is converted into antioxidant compounds like alkaloids and flavonoids as black garlic ferments.

I get frustrated when her doctors tell her that the diet isn't a contributing factor and tell her smoking is! I agree smoking is very harmful but why do they ignore nutrition? Is it lack of training because I've heard most doctors receive very little to no courses on nutrition during their educational programs.

2019 out of the blue I was diagnosed with arterial sclerosis. My arteries were blocking up with plaque. Within weeks I suffered a dvt.
I was a former wildlife ranger in a remote set of Scottish Islands in the Atlantic and later a hill walking guide in the Scottish Highlands. I considered myself fit and healthy and yet.......
It's a progressive disease and within a few moths I could barely walk because of pain.
I smoked and had done so for over 60 years. I'd always considered myself so fit and healthy that I could get away with it but I was wrong.
It's taken 3 years but I've completely reversed my medical condition. Stopped smoking and every day eat a bowl of banana, avocado, blueberries, black grapes, flax seed, granola with nuts and raisins, yoghurt and almond milk.
I eat twice a day and my 2nd meal is grilled chicken and asparagus sprinkled with Italian hard cheese

Good vid. Alternatively to sauer kraut is Korean Kimchi. Similarly it is loaded with the probiotic lactic acid bacteria. It ia not cooked so you don't lose a lot of the nutrition. You ever wonder how Koreans have the best looking skin in the world. Must be a connection.

I’m Korean and Korean skin is not much better than other ethnicities, it’s just that the Korean media puts more emphasis on makeup and looks. If you go to Korea or any eastern Asian country, you’ll see just as many people with acne and scarring as you would see in the west. Photo editing apps that focus on making your skin appear smooth and white are also way more popular there.

I used tons of salad dressing for flavour. Didn’t know what I was missing. I changed my style after using better greens and dressing them like Dr. Berg suggests.

Avoid seed oil dressings. 99.55% of all commercial dressings are seed oils. Just use real fresh Olive oil. Sadly most commercial salad dressing are 99% seed oils, rancid or both.
