LR AWD 0 to 60 is 4.8 seconds, unless you buy the Performance Boost Upgrade for $2K, which reduces 0 to 60 to 4.2 seconds. Also I’m told the PMY suspension is different as well. I just ordered a PMY to replace our 2020 LR AWD and ordered the TSportLine 18” tires and wheels. I should get better range, performance and no fears of curbs or potholes. WIN WIN.
In the UK the MYP is £10K ($13k) above the MYLR which makes the choice different. I personal don’t see the need in the UK for the MYP. Long Range with 20inch Induction bring the difference down to £8k ($10k) and look similar. The additional speed isn’t worth the upgrade in my opinion. Also, UK inner Town roads are terrible so having 21 inch and lowered suspension probably isn’t the way to go in the UK.
Everyone missed the biggest reason. Get a performance with all its benefits, then get 19 or 18 inch rims and you will get the same range as a long range
Your point about the wheel was a great one if you upgrade to the 20” you only save $3,000. But you get the car sooner if you go with the performance and quicker speed, better breaks and you don’t have to buy acceleration boost for $2000 if you choose too
Also, suspension is better on the performance. TH-camrs always forget that the battery on both models are the same or almost identical in capacity. In fact, you get the same range if you swap the 21in wheels from the perf to the 19in. If you do that and sell the 21s the performance will be cheaper than the long range while keeping all the other upgrades.
Im not a 0 to 60 sec driver anymore. So the speed doesn’t matter to me but I do like the look of the performance wheels. The other things can be put on cheap. Like brakes, Spoiler ect
Still won't be be a Performance 😆Dont understand people who buy LR, and spends money on equipment to imitate Performance version. Don't get Track Mode either and a better car in every way
@@Mr.Relaxed Not much of a difference in my opinion. Who ever makes the payment can customize the car however they want. No matter what car I have I don’t look over and nod to the guy next to me and ask if they want to race like when I was 18. Every Tesla looks the same. It’s a daily driver for me to not pay for gas ⛽️ I’m already in a luxury payment so why add $400 more for gas a month?
My new YP has a firm but comfortable suspension. It’s probably been revised several times over the years. The new pricing makes Performance a great value! It drives like a sports car but comfortable and so practical. I’d say this is the best overall Tesla (including value)-I have an older performance S and standard X.
It’s funny how your video makes so much sense for people that get the LR with 20’ wheels ($2K), add fake aftermarket red caliper ($400 install included), add a rear spoiler ($150) and before you know it want to pay the extra $2K for the speed boost upgrade. Just get the MYP and all of that is built-in OEM!
Good practical advice. Yeah you're dropping $5k to make it look cooler and to feel a little bit more acceleration. I agree. For me, i feel money is just a little too tight to justify the spend. But I'm super thrilled to get my MYLR in a couple weeks!
Hi, would the wheels on performance get nicked if you run over pot holes or it just happens only when you hit the curb? How are the michellins on the 21" wheels?
I will have to say the Tesla model Y with the updated suspension on the performance is crazy like it’s it’s really comfortable very comparable to the long range why which is going to make this decision even harder because you’re still getting that performance and comfortability. Good luck to all.
Yes ventilated Seats. Air suspension would be good if it didn’t hurt Handling. My S performance is more comfortable with air suspension But alot heavier too. YP is a great combination-performance, right size, function, value.
I've spent much time in both to consider this exact issue. Difference is negligible as far as bumps. I feel the performance is actually better overall as you feel more planted with less roll in corners. Even with just regular driving.
@@romanari5260 - good question and unfortunately yes. That is certainly something to consider. Especially if you're in a part of the world that needs winter tires as well.
I would like to see more colors for the interior! At least a beige or better yet a darker Tan color or BOTH! It also needs to improve the suspension as well. I ordered the uglier 19" wheels just because of the ride and performance. I see lots of complaints about the stiff ride in the PMY.
Hey there, tesla just officially open the market in Thailand, and i have a same thought as well for MY LR, why buy extra 20in wheels when it s more worth to buy Performance model. Thanks for pointing this out. I think i ll go for a perf model anyway.

Totally agree w all your points. Just took delivery of my MYP last week. I got the Midnight Silver Metallic color and am waaay impressed. This is the prettiest multifaceted dark silver I’ve seen. In the light you can see blue, sliver and dark gray shimmer and seems to hides dust as well. This car is a beast yet still perfect for my toddler. He loves when we step on it lol 😆
Congrats man! They're great all around vehicles. Fantastic choice on color, looks good, not super common, easy to clean, and easy to keep clean! Cheers!
The suspension is slightly more stiff, really though the perceived ride rigidity comes from the relatively low profile tire size that comes stock on the 21's (this is also why it's to curb the wheels). There are aftermarket tire sizes that fit the 21's nicely and mitigate both ride stiffness and the ease of curbing your wheels. Check out the vid I made a while back on this. th-cam.com/video/h3Xki29ZbcQ/w-d-xo.html Cheers!

Long range is a misnomer... doesn't make sense in terms of branding. Whats the difference, 15 miles?? Maybe call it longer range and very slightly more range....
You may need those 15-30 miles to get to the next charging station. Also, think about battery degradation which could lower the range to max 270 miles for P or max 300 miles for LR.
Neither. Too expensive due to supply chain issues. Why should I pay more when it’s not worth the price. I missed the chance to buy the Y LR in Feb 21 for $14K less. Even then was it worth $50K?
If you can just wait a couple of years, many EVs are coming soon Tesla should adjust the price down. Chip shortage and supplier issues should be resolved by 2024.
