Thank you for always providing great content Chris.
We traded our 2021 Y AWD for a 2024 Y AWD and immediately noticed some differences. Pro's: 1, Much quieter, less road noise. 2, Cameras are have much sharper images, 3, Seats are more bolstered / soft. 4, Overall, rIde is much softer. 5, Fit and finish far better. 6, Far superior screen and display updates much quicker. 7, Rear cargo cover. Cons, 1, Doesn't feel as fast off the line as 2021, even with boost upgrade it takes more pedal to get it moving, but once it kicks in, it's insanely fast. 2, Sound quality / fidelity much better in the 2021 - very disappointing; compared with other 2024's and they're the same. 3, High speed cornering and handling not as good in 2024. 4, Front seats are so bolstered they cause my legs to fall asleep on long drives, I have to add a pillow to sit to keep this from happening - never an issue on the 2021. 5, By far, the 2021 with ultrasonic sensors did a MUCH better job of accurately displaying close objects around the vehicle, the 2024 vision only is not very accurate and actually rarely accurate or useful. Overall, it's a trade off, but the improvements in overall vehicle ride quality, fit and finish and electronics, heavy end of quarter discounts and $7500 Fed incentive made it worth trading up to 2024. ,

I still use the ultrasonic sensors on my 2022, but I have to say that with the latest update the vision became quite impressive.
The downgrade in audio quality is surprising and a BIG disappointment. The sound system on my 2022 is one of the great features of the car.
I have also noticed that my Long Range feels slow off the line despite the software acceleration package. I have always wondered if this is a BS software dumbing on purpose to give more reason to buy the Performance model. Or maybe it is the fact that I have the safety feature turned on that limits acceleration if the car thinks you are in a space-limited environment?
@@bsd107 I took my 2024 in for service for the lack of instant acceleration compared to my 2021.. They say it is normal, but I still wasn't happy, so I tested the 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile specs. It met acceleration spec's, so the small lag off the line is 100% software. I wish when I upgraded to the performance boost they would have allowed it to have more "punch" off the line. Maybe it was for safety / neck injuries? The 24 model pulls really hard, once the pedal reaches a certain point, it's definitely not the instant quick linear acceleration from a start like it was in the past.
I just went trading in my Toyota Camry which was one of the most popular cars on the road for a Model Y. I didn’t want to wait.

I traded in my 2022 Y with a 2024 7 seater. Getting it with the tax incentive and the 0.99% apr made it worth upgrading financially and for all the improvements you mentioned.

i'm more than willing to not just wait for the Juniper to come out, i'm willing to even wait a few months AFTER its release. Tesla has a habit of lowering the price of its EVs during end of quarter periods to reach those sales numbers. why not take advantage of that?

Wanted to wait but needed a new car asap. Incredible deals on inventory models. I would’ve liked improved suspension and ventilated seats but buying in 2024 has worked out well for us.
We own a 2021 and just purchased a 2024 model Friday. Ride quality is way better on 2024 than 2021. I don’t believe ride quality of an X is significantly better than a Y, although I get the adaptive suspension part as we had one for a week, we just didn’t like it . Model Y is undeniably a very versatile car and we love it.

The selling point of the Tesla: energy source: properly care and manage for for the batteries so you don’t place unnecessary stress to the batteries, the car can possibly last for 30 years provided regular maintenance that could be done DIY. Another great selling point: the teslacams. No other car provides 360 degree camera coverage, including cabin. This doesn’t even include autopilot/self-driving capabilities, and that is going to keep improving with future updates, along with other features like summon (there should be a super summon so you can send your car to pick you up from within a 30 mile radius), provided the full self driving capabilities have been perfected and using it reaches 100% safety.
Great video. Just bought one back in May and I love it. The time was right and I didn't want to wait until the end of the year or a bit longer. Just wish the insurance wasn't so expensive. Living in So. Cal is most of the problem.

Last night I went and got a quote with Tesla insurance through the app (it was easy) and it was $900 a year less than my current one (Mercury). Haven't changed yet but much better.

Do you have any recommendations for a place that can go through a 2020 Model 3 and make changes to eliminate sources of rattles? The car is great, but it seems to have rattles and it drives me nuts. I think it might be the B pillars that rattle. Maybe there is a way to put felt or rubber around the clips? I would love to find a service that could just got through and "rattle proof" the car. I took my car into Tesla service at least 4 times and they never took care of the problem. I gave up trying with them.
If the roof is an inch higher…does it have an inch more ground clearance? That would be nice if it does. I have one on order already, waiting waiting waiting.

Are you going to need the cargo space the Y has? If you cannot do without the cargo space, get the Y. Otherwise, Model 3 is a superior car in many ways, I guess the Y is also a bit more capable on dirt roads too, but that is it.
Btw Chris, how is the new software update for the Active Matrix headlights working for you on your Model Y?

I got my 24 MY LW AWD last month, and when I got it, the EPA was showing 310 lol. Guess they updated it again right after I got mine. As for the suspension, I noticed it right away compare to my 21 M3 SR+. Was a bit surprised to be honest.

Add Gigacastings to the list. In 2021 they only had the rear (and in 2 pieces). By 2024 the Y has moved to a one piece front and rear frame casting.

So Elon said no one used the passenger lumbar support, according to their data, so they removed it. Yet, I bet no one uses the FM radio either, but we still have it.
Pretty good video, even though you got the number of windshield cameras wrong on the HW4 car, it's 2 not 3. Also, the wiper blades are not heated, it's the glass that they sit on that is heated. Still gave the video a thumbs up though.

We have had our 2023 Model Yp for 13 months and my wife just found the center arm rest/ cup holder for the rear seat. We love it as it has ultra sonic sensors and stalks.
One big thing change since the removal of the ultrasonic sensors, many features have been removed. Such as smart summon and some safety features such as automatic lane change and brake assist. Its crazy how they dont really announce this. So safety freature wise the 2021-22 dominates.
That is not correct. Summon and auto lane change are only available if the FSD option is purchased. They were not “removed”. Not sure exactly what you mean by “brake assist” but if you mean AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) that is a standard feature on all Teslas. It is not part of FSD, it’s standard. If you mean “Brake Hold” (after pressing the brake pedal to bring the car to a stop you can release the pedal and the brakes stay engaged) that is also standard.
Does anyone know if the panoramic roof also has double glass in the 2024 model? I've searched for that information and found discrepant and unreliable information about that.

The current deal makes it a no brainer to buy the Y right now. I ordered a MY Performance for the same price as my 2022 M3 long range with the .99% and $7500 instant cash.
Just picked up my 2024 Y a month ago. AWD LR. Only the usb-c in the glovebox supports data, all four others are power only.
Me too however the USB in my glove box is the standard USB-A.

Premium Connectivity for $99 per year includes everything I'd either Bluetooth or hardwire into the "theater." I just found out the other night that I can push the right steering wheel (voice command) ball and ask for specific songs from Tesla's own library and 75% of the time, I get the right song and the right artist. 20% of the time, I get the right artist (the song is probably not in the library) and the other 5% of the time, I just try again. It's truly amazing and Tesla should advertise it.

Hey Chris - so just to be clear... If i got a white Model Y and with the money that I saved on getting it in white, I would wrap it black but whenever a door is opened, white would be visible? I always wondered about if this would look as bad as it sounds in my head because of the color contrast...

My 2024 model y makes alot rattle noise on the dashboard sounds like it’s coming from the speakers. Anybody else having this problem?
All Tesla's need one important item and that is 12v battery monitor. Last week a mom but baby in thr car seat walked around to get in the car and thr doors would not open the battery was dead. She called 911 the fire department arrive and broke the window. There is a video on youtube about this. It happen in Arizona.
Tesla colors are extremely boring but the Quicksilver is nice. I hope they will offer it on the base model soon.
Model Y owners…is the car small inside? I want to get rid of my grand Cherokee. I know the y is smaller but is it really a lot smaller??? I really want the model x but can’t justify the price considering I work from home.
It’s a spacious car with lots of storage. But the rear roof line is sloped, so getting a bike in is not easy. But we have a hitch carrier for that.

Get a Model Y with a trailer hitch. It's great for attaching a cargo carrier, bike rack or for towing a utility trailer around town.
A lot of room in the back seats. Plenty of head room too.

I was surprised he said there were 3 cameras on the HW4 car. It's been common knowledge for a while that there are only 2 in the windshield and one is a dummy. And it's not like it's hard to tell that it's a dummy. And when he showed the camera's up close, it was not of the HW4 car.
They both have Hardware 4…….according to Elon Hardware 5 will be in cars 18 months from now.
I have a 24 and some things I dislike:
1) have to slam doors to close it
2) heavy steering on light setting
3) wind noise driver side mirror area
4) fender gap too high
5) weird noise trunk soft close
6) old fashion wood trim - had to buy new covers.
7) auto pilot random lane changes, last minute exit on freeway, quickacceleration from stop light. Will be cancelling free subscription.

I had the side mirror noise too. Took it in for service after figuring it was coming from the triangle plastic piece not sitting flush. It’s gone…for now 🤔
My biggest dislike is the fake wood interior. I ordered carbon fiber to replace it but never showed up since now it’s out of stock. Eventually it will come 🤣

I got Midnight Silver Metallic, free only for a limited time when its replacement Stealth Grey was new. I wouldn't swap it for the new Quicksilver at the same $0 price.
@@OnWisconsin33 Midnight Silver is a much better color than Stealth Grey, which is too dark. The new quicksilver looks very sharp but paying $2k for it is nuts.
Two things, because I quit watching when it became an advertisement for wraps. 1. You missed mentioning the very limited time free color Midnight Silver Metallic. When Stealth Grey (s/b Gray in the USA) was coming in as the new free color, the remaining MSM were a no cost option, too. MSM is a classier "accountant" color, instead of the nearly black SG. 2. When the Model Y was $66,000-ish, maybe spending $5k or more on a wrap made sense. At $37,080 after tax credit for my MYLR AWD (discounted by $4,410 in January 2024), spending what now costs $8k on a plastic sheet with bubbles is not cost effective. A few rock chips don't matter on trade.

Extremely high repair and battery replacement costs.
Loses 50% of battery in cold weather.
Really long recharge times.
Really high electric fees.
No substantial electrical grid improvements to accommodate vehicles.
home improvement costs.
High new vehicle costs.
Short vehicle life-span. Kind of like smartphones.
High insurance costs.
Not to mention the possibility of Elon locking you out or Tesla employees spying on you!
@@gimaru1 I knew battery performance was altered during weather conditions but had no idea it was that concerning . I live in Las Vegas NV so weather is consistently hot all year round lol . Might get to 40 degrees a week in winter every year so it won’t affect me as much
