The absolute best side by side comparison between the two. I drove both and noticed the lowered height of the P. The LR has plenty of grunt and while the P is a faster car, the LR is no slouch, has enough power for an everyday car. Thank you for putting this excellent dish l video together!! Loved it.
Great vid! My MYLR is going to be delivered in two weeks. Too early for your review, Tesla now offers a Acceleration Boost upgrade for the LR. That will be the first download after I take delivery. Increases the 0-60 time to 4.2 or 4.3 depending on which reviewer you follow. 4.2 is plenty fast for me. The extra range is too valuable to give up in exchange for the YP. Plus, my wife really disliked the Performance test ride as it was pretty stiff and rough on our 70ish bodies. Thanks again. Fun vid!
For what it's worth, the Geminis look way better without the caps, so you can get a better look and still get better performance and comfort - or even go 3rd party and for the same price as the larger rims, have two sets of wheels for the same price and set one up with summer/performance tires.
This is the exact video I’ve been looking for for weeks. Such a good side by side comparison of the two helping me decide between the Long Range or the Performance. I’ve been leaning towards LR and I think this solidified my decision. Thank you!
I’m also debating. Financially the LR makes sense - especially for the value. But then again, I keep thinking to myself that I only live once and when will I ever own a family car what can accelerate 0-60 in 3.5s...
@@Wasabi9111 My thought is this: I bought the LR, I'd love the P, but the cost difference in both the upgrade and wheels I just couldn't justify. In 5-8 years when I plan to upgrade, the EV market will be completely different, and acceleration + range will be so much better for cheaper.
Used your referral link to order my Model Y. Thanks for this video. It helped me decide on getting a LR Model Y instead of the performance. I appreciate the 1,000 miles of supercharging I got using your link. 5-9 weeks for delivery. Looking forward to my first Tesla.
How long did it actually take for the car to arrive? I just ordered my model y performance today. It gave me the same window of time just want to see what others are getting. Tia
I purchased the MY LR for the same reasons that you mentioned: longer range, better ride quality. And I used the savings for not getting the performance model to pay for the full self-driving option.
@@leviolson Yeah, also I’m planning to keep the car for a long time (10+ years). The cost of FSD will be reasonable over time. Who knows, if the FSD’s value increases the way Elon Musk claims, the initial expense would be worthwhile.
Great review guys! Spot on. Same realizations about EVs for us over the years. Also... 2 years, family of 4 and no issues with Jean transfer, or other stains on our white seats - still gorgeous - we love our white on white Model 3.
Great video. Thanks. Yep, the AC works great. I live in Los Angeles and I've never touched the glass top without it being really hot, even when the AC is keeping it cool inside. But yeah, the roof window seems ...maybe superfluous. Seems odd for a company like Tesla to install a permanently on hot plate inside their car. I'm an old guy, never even considered racing (though I knew a Class 3 driver, amazing road handling abilities so definitely a good skill to have even within the speed limit) and I'd been driving a Prius V. So getting in the Y was like Super-Car Time! I was at a light and a new Corvette pulled up next to me; I couldn't help but think, "Should I let this guy know if it was speed he wanted... you bought the wrong car buddy...."? Fortunately I behaved myself. Later I looked it all up on the net. My Long Range Model Y gets 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, his Corvette does that in 2.7 seconds. So I would've experienced a nice roar, a blur and then being pulled over by the cops. My son's Audi 4.3, same as the Performance Y. So, not a supercar, but still pretty amazing. If I have anything at all to say to you guys about how wheels look compared to how they drive. In terms of performance, it's either function or it's just bunk. In high school all the rich kids got new Mustangs. I got my dads 9 year old Ford F-100 pick-up, rusting out (the bed was held up with a 2x4 frame I made), but the same 289 V8 engine and the Mustangs. I wasn't afraid to actually drive it, and I had a lot of clearance. I slammed it around in the gravel parking lot, spun up mud. I didn't even realize I was subverting the prissy car order until another kid told me that until I made pick up trucks look cool he hadn't driven his to school. For me form didn't follow function, function was the only consideration. (Shelby never said, which of these two is cooler looking, he only said, which one is faster?) I also bought the Y for all wheel drive. I snow camped in my Prius and loved it. But the Prius has the control and traction of a marble on glass in snow. The Y should do much better. Performance and Range. I did a 200 mile round trip to Santa Barbara, dropped the range about 246 miles. I was a bit zippy, and a bunch of 75 mph, so those range numbers are based on driving the Y more like you'd drive a Prius. Your side to side comparison is the first time I thought the Performance model was significantly different from the Long Range. Tesla has an offer that for an extra $2k my 4.8 sec 0-60 could be 4.3. Zero interest - until I saw your video. It is significant and looks like a lot of fun.
Enjoyed the competition from stop to speed. Would love to see a rolling run from 55 mph to say 80 mph. This would simulate passing time on a back country road.
I bought a Long Range Y with FSD. After purchase I’ve added original spoiler ($300 from eBay), then added caliper covers ($160 Chinese version- super sick), wrapped with matte PPF (did it myself) and added lower graphics. Car looks super good. I’m now waiting for Tesla release $2k speed boost for the Y as they did for the M3. Also, $3k “discount” is not a discount, but a permanent price reduction. If you want to have more range with a performance model, you can simply switch your 21” heavy wheels for the 19” non performance wheels.
When I was test driving, I found the ride comfort to be very different in the driver's seat vs front passenger seat vs back seat, declining in quality in that order. I have test driven the MYLR19, MYLR20, and MYP and ended up ordering the MYLR19 for the ride comfort. I have a loop that goes around my community that has everything from straight smooth roads to bumpy roads, turns, railroad tracks, and potholes. IMO, when you're buying a family car, especially for a new family, the back seat ride needs to be smooth or the baby won't be sleeping ever. I love the look and power of the MYP and I had given thought to ordering it then adding the UP Luxury Coilover Suspension Kit, but didn't want to take a $10k leap of faith. On the rare chance the opportunity came up, I'd be interested in a back seat ride quality comparison between a stock MYLR19 and an MYP with the UP Luxury Coilover Suspension Kit.
Interesting. So the 2019 model had better ride comfort than the 2020 model? I would suspect they would have improved the ride comfort for a new model but perhaps not?
Thank you so much of the side by side review. Wow, didn't realize how much a diff performance was in acceleration. The fact that you both smile every time you punch it never gets old. I live in a major city with lots of bumps/potholes. I heard 20/21" wheels are prone to flats on bad pavement so I will be getting the 19" wheels for smoother ride. That's more important to me than 0-60 acceleration. Arizona has lots of open roads so performance might be better in that situation.
Perfect video comparison, I would take the long range dual motor but all the little bits make the performance tempting. The sun shade is a must have or I drive round squinting and frowning, really glad they have them!
All good points. I was literally ready to by long range but made a last second decision for performance. The price differential was 3k in my case for the respective cars in inventory markdown at the time (long range grey with 18” wheels) One aspect I didn’t see noted is future resale value. I would imagine the performance will command a much better resale value?
Anyone have HP envy? I waffle back and forth and actually, "how fast do you really need to be" I'm ok with my MYLR in the same setup as what the guys have here just with black interior. I feel the gap in power lessens when you add the Accel Boost, so I agree, range+20"+Accel Boost+Bit more comfy > Performance with 21"s. I DO agree, come on Tesla, black etching would have been great on the silver calipers. Or maybe even deep black calipers with silver etching, even. Anyways, GREAT informative vid guys! I too was surprised that I wasn't charged on my first initial charge I did in my subdivision for 1 hour of charge with Chargepoint. 🙌
As I said before, I travel between CA and AZ and was looking for tint and PPF for my sons Model 3. Because of your recommendation, going to use Dynamic Tint. Thanks
Great video for what it was. An honest comparison by car guys. I love the videos and commentary with the difference in acceleration of the performance. I have driven both and wow the performance is out of this world. The long range is still stupid fast. In Michigan though pot holes swallow cars in all seasons so I might have to settle on long range and pray they release a $2000 performance pack unlock or something like they did with the 3. I don't need the brakes or the suspension. I just want that occasional straight line buh--bye!!
As for the one pedal driving, you gotta give it that little extra stop power to keep your rotors clean. Using the brakes only on rusty rotors will dramatically mess up your brake pads - I've seen some nasty hardly used rotors at the superchargers, you also won't stop as fast as you could in a emergency situation. Brakes: Use 'em or lose 'em
I took a few friends for some quick rides in my '21 3 Performance and 2 of them yelled some expletives, the 3rd literally screamed all the way up to 80MPH haha! Wish I'd been recording.
ALmost....alllmost got the 21' M3P as well but decided I could just boost it as I got more intuned with the car and wanted to sit up higher with more space for stuff as I love the look of the hatch and top glass. Maybe I'll get one of those soon too!? lol
Best video so far of the true differences between the two. Changed my mind about a long range. Now I want the performance. If that is too steep I might get the M3 Performance. Then there is also a possibility of getting the long range with the performance upgrade, if they ever make that available for the Model Y.
Yes, Tesla seems to have deliberately neutered 0-10MPH, probably for component wear/stress. The Model S hits much harder in that zone (chest thump). After 10MPH in the 3/Y you feel a second-level pull, where the G-forces are enough to give some vertigo. Good video. )
We opted for the LR due to range and cost. If Tesla had sold the Performance without the Performance Upgrade at a lower price between the price of the LR and Performance (like they should have), then we would have probably gotten it. I'm hoping Tesla will offer an acceleration upgrade on the LR in the future.
I’m afraid to downgrade to a Model Y performance from my P3D , and previously my P90DL ⚡️. Great video! 3/10’s of second slower is like forever now :D I want 2 seconds to 60 maybe 1 second . So addictive !
Curious what you’d think about the acceleration boost vs the performance in terms of how close the performance feels and also the difference in performance between the regular MYLR without it
"I'm actually a little terrified when you hit these corners." Lol!! I sooooo want a Model Y Performance, I can't wait to terrify my passenger. 😉😁 This was the comparison I needed, thanks for the video!💜❤
"I am not like a Green freak..." That's fine, but you still need to breathe...and clean air is a good place to start. There's no shame in being okay with clean air, and doing something about it, even if you buy a car that is super fun.
@@xoXneoncookiezXox to flip the argument on its head: given that roughly 10K people die each day (globally) from air pollution and air pollution causes (mostly not in the USA, but some still do), not being an advocate for clean air is the passive way of being in favor of childhood asthma, COPD exacerbations, unnecessary hospitalizations and all of the associated costs to all of us, some strokes, heart attacks, and maybe even cancers, etcetera. Going off the deep end here...there are literally thousands of studies linking increased rates of all sorts of human pathologies to the methylethylbadstuff that is air pollution from burning stuff. People act like driving one car for one trip doesn't matter, but if we all drove electric, we would all be way better off. Who wants to be in a garage with all of the fumes collected from one car trip? Not me. What we're doing now with our air is akin to being fish in a fish tank where the water is never changed: it gets pretty nasty.
Excellent, detailed video. You are one of the most thorough Tesla owners I’ve watched on You Tube. Your detailed explanations of the various features, differences, etc, etc, are helping me make my decision to buy a Model Y. Thanks so much and keep it up.
I've read that the factory tint is UV and IR protected. Also the double pane absorbs it. I'm still gonna tint when I get my MYP and my wife's MY LR. Still going through your old content while the MYs are being built. Keep up the great content!
I got a performance because the LR is 318 with upgraded tires and the performance is 303 and you are probably charging before you get down to 15 miles. Also the price adds up quickly when you pay $2000 for the tire and $2000 for upgrade speed boost
I just test drove the long range and imma say don’t sleep on speed 4.5 is a understatement , that all wheel drive is crazy and like he said it’s how the power put down , I like when it kicks in more after like 30 mph, it’s INSTANT power and torque , it makes you think compared to a regular car how much better it is to go electric, bruh engines is cool but you just know you rarely going to have problems 🔥 and what he said bouta glass u forget you have it lol
Thanks, this has been extremely helpful. I have had a Performance model S for 3 years and of course ordering a performance Y will speed up your delivery time. I want to have a tow hitch on the back.. I don't see that the height is an issue with a bike rack on the back. I think I am going with the Long Range and wait a little. I think the replacement cost of the tires and the potential of me curbing those beautiful wheels is high. So, Model Y long range it is. I already ordered a few weeks ago, but thought about upgrading due to delivery estimates.
I had the same decision making dilemma's a few months ago... ended up changing my LR to the Performance and sooo happy I did, delivery is today! I'm still not convinced the performance is worth the additional cost, but aesthetically I love the look of the low profile vs the standard height. I too think the replacement tire costs will suck as will the day "my wife borrows my car and curbs the hell out my rims" lol. Good luck on your decision though!
Glad you put out this video! It was a tough choice for me, but went with LR for practically purposes, performance model is tempting, love the spoiler! I did get the Induction wheels with the white interior. Red exterior.
The Model Y LR makes the most sense because of the longer range, higher ground clearance important with our pothole filled roads, comfort, lower maintenance of tires, rims. The Model Y Performance tires last may be 15,000 miles, need to filed often; rims are susceptible to road rash and cracking which are expensive. Set of MYP tires cost $1,800. Model Y LR tires can last 40,000 miles.
Thanks for the comparison between the two Model Y Tesla's. Amazing how much pickup and speeds these two cars have. Even though the "Performance" model has quicker off the line speed, I guess the top end of the "Performance" model is supposed to be 155 mph vs the "Long Range" model is 135 mph. Both models are very fast in my opinion. For me, the "Long Range" model would be ideal for me since I am retired and just do driving around town or short single charge trips. Any of you guys know which is faster, The "Performance" model Y or the Tesla Plaid S model. They both seem to have the same specs for speed. Not sure what you get with the Plaid S model to make it so expensive >100,000 dollars for it. Take care.
I live in Las Vegas and I didnt and dont plan to tint the roof. it's just not really an issue so far (and its august). I DID tint my windshield and front windows with a nice ceramic tint to match the back windows and that made a HUDE difference
John M have you monitored the temperature inside the car during the day? I’ve seen temps in the 150F during mid day. This concerns me a lot. I bought the sun shade from Tesmanian but it made no difference.
@@RC-hn8sj Not really.. I work at home, and the car is in the garage. The closest thing I get is when I drive to LA or here in Vegas late in the day and it seems manageable. I was thinking when I got it that if it was a problem I'd get it tinted further.. mostly as a UV and heat barrier...
My opinion about the wheels: You may not notice as much difference between the ride between those 2 because of the wheels you chose for the LR. I test drove the LR with standard wheels and then the performance. There was a clear difference in the ride for me. I did not like the ride of the performance. Oddly, the difference in acceleration was not as subjectively apparent to me as the ride quality. The higher ground clearance is important to me for where I live. It does bug me that the better LED headlights are currently not available for the LR.
There's nothing like flying down the highway at 110mph (eh hmm...in Mexico, of course) and blasting Bach's cello suite no 1 in Gmaj. And anything by Slayer is a close second. lol
The regenerative braking system has nothing to do with the actual brakes and pads. The regen is not an actual brake, it’s a motor that runs in reverse based on the energy of the wheel spinning. My point being, the upgraded brakes DO matter. They actually provide the real stopping power you would need.
It's pretty interesting how much importance is placed on looks, like sure, the 19's have a better ride, but the 21's just look so much better. When I drive the car, it's more about the ride than looks. Believe me, I've been down the looks rabbit hole. I had the lowered civic with rolled fenders, low profile tires like rubber bands, headers, cold air intake, electronic valve timing control, short shifter, at least 75 additional psychological horsepower. Then I got wise, and realized all this stuff only got my 0-60 about 1/2 second quicker. OK, time for some real power. Installed the Jackson Supercharger, and had some real power. I could have ripped off the headers, intake, etc, but now I had a fast car that looked cool under the hood. Then the epiphany: to go faster, get a faster car. Several V6 Acuras later, I got a Performance Model 3, loved the 20 inch wheels, but potholes forced me to get the stealth. 0-60 in a little over 3 seconds will rearrange my anatomy. It cured being deprived of horsepower as a kid. 2018, 4 years, no problems, no gas, no service, just electrons and wiper fluid. I'd really like some 20's with red calipers, but the 20s would pop every week in this area. It looks like your average model 3, but it has track mode, and the Performance Ys assume it's pretty average. A performance Y with increased range is really tempting. Watching what's coming out of Austin and Berlin.
Great comparison of the two models. I test drove a LR 3 several times before I got my Performance 3, and the differences are similar to what you show here. However, on the Model 3, you also get track mode, which unlocks the handling in way most do not expect. But, you have to stop and put the car in park to activate track mode. Once it's on, you loose ALL cruise control functionality, which is annoying. That being said, it really comes down to whether you want acceleration and handling improvements, or lower cost, longer range, and more comfort. It's a really great and simple way that Tesla has packaged the two versions. That being said, I really wish they'd offer 18" or 19" wheels on the Performance 3, and 19" or 20" wheels on the Performance Y.
Hello about the range on Tesla model Y long range I would like to see a video comparing the kilowatts - miles because I believe when the screen shows o% you still have more kilowatts available, I think is good to se how many miles you can get with the 75 KW. Thank you for all the videos.
I got the LR w/ acceleration boost. Plenty for a family car. I launched a business specifically to pay for a plaid+ for my fun car. If it doesn't do that well then I'll get the 3 performance :)
Heck Yea I live in ny. I’m actually thinking it might be worth it to get a nj license and register w my brothers nj address to get the LR tax free and $5k rebate. It’s about a $7.5k savings. Am I crazy?!
For (Non-Performance) Long Range, Dual Motor, you can get the $2,000 Performance Upgrade package to increase you 0-60 by a half second! You could also get lighter, yet, more aggressive looking wheels and higher performance tires to increase speed and still get an even more positive bump omg range!
Tbh unless the average person is told one's performance and the other isn't, they're not going to notice the difference. It's kinda funny because when I was testing performance vs long range I also noticed that the initial pick up felt similar but on performance it felt quicker on the top end. From what I've seen both versions have a very similar rolling 30-60 time.
My Model 3 is a Long Range Dual Motor (non-performance), just like your Y. My Tesla App has an "upgrade" section that allows me to buy an "acceleration boost" for 2 grand. It changes the 0-60 from 4.4s to 3.9s. Has Tesla unlocked that feature for the Model Y? If so, that may be a fun thing to upgrade to.
What you can do if you want that extra bit of acceleration almost like the performance version is to buy the $2k boost on the Tesla app. It works with long range too. You will still have the same range, but you're also a bit quicker if you want to. ;-)
Ordered my Model Y Performance this week, looks very nice with the Uberturbine wheels but im probably gonna put som 20" on it for more comfort and range and still have the performance.
Awesome video. You can't get the "stealth" Performance Y anymore, as Tesla took away that option. Now when you order a Performance, you have to take the larger wheels, brakes, suspension whether you wanted it or not. Surprisingly some Y Performance owners are downsizing the tires, if nothing else because 19 or 20 inch tires are a little cheaper than 21 inch ones, especially since the 21's are staggered setup, with the rears being slightly wider.
Exactly. Planning to do this when I get mine, with 19" Martian Wheels and QuietTrack tires to match. Lot of extra cost to get it how I want it though. Undecided whether to resell the Uberturbines.
One more thing: if you aren't picky then ask your sales advisor, there are still a few Stealth/Sleeper models out there. Caveats: they may require shipping costs on you and accepting sight-unseen.
Great comparison. But I think the wheel selection shouldn't have been as glossed over. What wheel you choose has more to it than simply how comfortable it is, and how efficient it is. A smaller wheel, with a tire that has larger sidewalls, will be more protected against pot holes. It'll be less likely to break the bead of the tire, less likely to damage the wheel. It'll allow for you to let some tire pressure out, to improve winter grip, while providing more safety to the wheel. It'll also be a better choice if you want to do any off road driving. So if you're looking for a payment princess, and you live around good streets, knock yourself out. But if you have terrible streets around you, and you want to go camping out in the woods, maybe think about how much side wall you want your tires to have.
I have an order in for the long range, but now considering changing to the performance b/c it will be ready sooner and nicer tires. Currently tesla says the performance is 303 and long range is 313 miles
The only way I see an MYP taking an NSX is if the Acura didn't launch. Anyways, what was said at @3:18, I'm pretty certain most buyers don't care about the color of their brakes, let alone what's printed on them; at least not enough to affect their buying decision. If that's the case, it only makes sense for Tesla to save that $.10 it would otherwise have cost to label the caliper. Ten cents per caliper, two per car (only fronts), hundreds of thousands of cars per year, over eight years for a typical model life cycle... that makes for substantial savings, just by not having "Tesla" on the brake caliper.
Hey Gjeebs, thanks for this video. Can you comment on how the long range would keep up with the performance at higher speeds like 30-100mph or 50-100mph. how much farther ahead would the performance model be or would it be very close? thanks..
i've ordered the tri fsd motor cyber truck for the long range & plan to buy the S dual motor as well.i'm all invested in TSLA & I have a lot of solar to charge them both..
Just checked the range different of them two today and there’s only a 15 mile difference. Don’t think I’d go for the LR if I was just looking for range, rather have the performance
Had anyone tinted the front windshield? The glare coming through on a bright day gives me a headache. And that white strip across the dashboard doesn't help.
Nice comparison, especially in the acceleration between the long range and performance. In the future I would love to see the acceleration comparison between the long range, performance and a combustion vehicle of your choice. Just want to see how the Tesla smokes a combustion vehicle.

It is significant and looks like a lot of fun.
k
Enjoyed the competition from stop to speed. Would love to see a rolling run from 55 mph to say 80 mph. This would simulate passing time on a back country road.
Great video man! Ordered my Y performance and you guys are hyping me up! 🤙🏾
Congrats man!
Lol, then you can simly visit hell while you are driving. Changing wheels if you have performance it is a safety issue
@@Tanax13 no sorry that was the wheel size. 19" wheels were the most comfortable. 20s and 21s declined in comfort
@@Hossy923 Oh, right! Of course, that makes way more sense :D
Earned my sub with this. Thank you for the comparison!
All good points. I was literally ready to by long range but made a last second decision for performance.
The price differential was 3k in my case for the respective cars in inventory markdown at the time (long range grey with 18” wheels)
One aspect I didn’t see noted is future resale value.
I would imagine the performance will command a much better resale value?
Great job guys! I ordered my Model Y already still waiting on it. This is a great video. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Plenty on the way!
Thanks
Great to hear that!
I'm going to dynamictintaz on Tuesday. What tinting level do you recommend getting? And did you go for the paint protection?
Really good point I had never thought of.
Thanks for the tip!!!
Maybe I'll get one of those soon too!? lol

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the video. Can't wait for the Model Y to arrive in Europe!
Good video. )
This was exactly the video I was looking for. You did a great job! Thank you
I came for the Tesla, but subscribed for the personality. Love your vids man
Appreciate it !
Thanks for a great video! I was undecided which one to get. I drive 34 miles to work, so the long range will be just fine for me.
I wanted to quickly reach out and inform you that we currently have some
fantastic deals in Tesla Accessories on our eBay listing.
$$$$$$$$$
Curious what you’d think about the acceleration boost vs the performance in terms of how close the performance feels and also the difference in performance between the regular MYLR without it
Makes me that much happier i went with the performance.
I keep seeing comments like this and I’m super happy because that’s what we are looking at.
"I'm actually a little terrified when you hit these corners."
Lol!!
I need to make up for the 15 years of ozone hole creation from all the gas guzzling cars I have owned.
Honestly, we should all be green freaks considering the state our world is in right now :(
Dominique I’m just a freak.

Love it! Thanks for the support!
CANT WAIT TO BUY ONE. Tesla will def be my first car.
“I think you outta be put in jail for that.” LOL
Thanks for the video. Helped me in clearing few of my doubts in choosing between Long range and the Performance Y

Excellent, detailed video. You are one of the most thorough Tesla owners I’ve watched on You Tube. Your detailed explanations of the various features, differences, etc, etc, are helping me make my decision to buy a Model Y. Thanks so much and keep it up.

@6:00 love that its playing classical music with a tupac album thumbnail
About to head to Tesla now to trade in my 2021 MYLR 7 Seater in for a 2022 MYP, shoulda got the P from the start!
I've read that the factory tint is UV and IR protected. Also the double pane absorbs it. I'm still gonna tint when I get my MYP and my wife's MY LR. Still going through your old content while the MYs are being built. Keep up the great content!
Thanks. I'm looking to buy Model Y, this clarifies which one to pick...
Nice! Silent drag racing 🤣
Ohhh i just saw a 350 video in your channel 😂🔥
Not Silent but very quiet, tyre noise kills the silence ...
Nice! It was so har deciding betwene the two, but ultimately as for my PEVs "Range is King!", so I went with Long Range Dual Motor
Good choice!
Why did he look at him like that 14:21 😂😅🧐😂🧐😂🧐😂
I think he was just looking past him at something outside lol. But hilarious when you put it that way XD
Glad you put out this video!
It was a tough choice for me, but went with LR for practically purposes, performance model is tempting, love the spoiler!
I did get the Induction wheels with the white interior. Red exterior.
Great video, as always! You guys make a great commentary duo.
Haha, we have been buddies for a long time
Both LR and performance use Brembo brakes, performance uses a larger 4 pot piston and grippier pads.
Take care.
South Florida gets extremely hot also. I am thinking of tinting the panoramic roof.
This is exactly 💯 how I felt about the two. I think you're summary says it all.
Really enjoyed the comparison. I prefer my standard range with inductions 🤘
There's nothing like flying down the highway at 110mph (eh hmm...in Mexico, of course) and blasting Bach's cello suite no 1 in Gmaj. And anything by Slayer is a close second. lol
prelude and allegro in the style of pugnani performed by Itzhak Perlman is my choice :D
Haha that’s badass
Now with 303 range on the performance and for only 5k more. You'd be a fool not to get the performance.
The regenerative braking system has nothing to do with the actual brakes and pads. The regen is not an actual brake, it’s a motor that runs in reverse based on the energy of the wheel spinning. My point being, the upgraded brakes DO matter. They actually provide the real stopping power you would need.
I enjoy your sense of humor, sir.
Thank you!
Camping? at 25:05 you guys definitely convinced me, a la Brokeback Mountain
Really enjoy this video. Good on capturing different angles of the model Y
Glad you liked it!
12:12 hilarious hahaha, keep it up.
This was why I pushed the like button.
The most amount range is most important for me on the "long range", who need even more performance with degrading batteries after a couple of years.
Enjoying your channel. Unfortunately Model Y is still not available in New Zealand, and no one has an idea when they will be.
In NJ, the performance is 20k more because you don’t get the 5k NJ EV rebate.
Heck Yea I live in ny. I’m actually thinking it might be worth it to get a nj license and register w my brothers nj address to get the LR tax free and $5k rebate. It’s about a $7.5k savings. Am I crazy?!
I just ordered a model y performance . . Thanks for the video, I was wondering the difference between the ride of the two.
The Red Strip beyond the dual moter is kind of elegent. I am a kind of old kind thinking guy. Underestimation. 😉
But it’s not available yet right?
Actually very informative video, the stuff about tinting was something I was looking into.
I wanted to quickly reach out and inform you that we currently have some
fantastic deals in Tesla Accessories on our eBay listing.
Not yet. Apparently it is coming.
Now I don’t know what to buy 😡 long range is okay, but I thought to buy black black. But this white white is genial 🤩
What you can do if you want that extra bit of acceleration almost like the performance version is to buy the $2k boost on the Tesla app. It works with long range too.
You will still have the same range, but you're also a bit quicker if you want to. ;-)
@@DecepticonLeader this is a super cool Tipp ❤️❤️❤️
@@Karla-Flr Thanks! ^_^
Ordered my Model Y Performance this week, looks very nice with the Uberturbine wheels but im probably gonna put som 20" on it for more comfort and range and still have the performance.
I just ordered my LR model Y I’ll come in the end of June. Thank you so much for your information.
“I’m actually terrified when you hit these corners”
It sounds like you actually hit the bird. 🤣
In the UK their are rules on tinting Windows so need to check that out.
Very good comparison. Great job
Hey Gjeebs, thanks for this video. Can you comment on how the long range would keep up with the performance at higher speeds like 30-100mph or 50-100mph. how much farther ahead would the performance model be or would it be very close? thanks..
Subbed after that 3s intro lol
i've ordered the tri fsd motor cyber truck for the long range & plan to buy the S dual motor as well.i'm all invested in TSLA & I have a lot of solar to charge them both..
That’s sweet!
I tinted mine and tint helps the glare
Nice comparison, especially in the acceleration between the long range and performance. In the future I would love to see the acceleration comparison between the long range, performance and a combustion vehicle of your choice. Just want to see how the Tesla smokes a combustion vehicle.
I have a video where I raced an M2 against the model 3. Check that one out
