    You guys have great equipment but I am surprised you don't have steering axles on the flatbed!
    It saves you tyres on the flatbed!
    You should check out Faymonville or Nooteboom.
    Keep on heavy haulin' !

    A really nice hauling job as always. Your rig is so impressive. As a slide note, I would have thought you would of opened your trailer length wise so you did not have any over hang, but you are the one with the heavy haul knowledge. Did you have to have an escort, or was that one of your pick up trucks following you? I don't know how often you do it, but I would think on over hang loads and long loads, having someone (one of your own people) follow you is not a bad idea.

    • @awd4g63ix
      @awd4g63ix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was not an extendable trailer. This was our 4 axle Ravens. It's a fixed 53'. Yes we had a rear escort the entire trip, he was in that silver truck next to us.

    • @SteelyPaw
      @SteelyPaw 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahhh ok Nick, and thanks for your reply. For some reason I thought that trailer extended, as I saw a video once where you had one that did, I was so amazed at that. However, anyone in their right mind would be envious of your Raven 4 axle special built trailer (I saw the tour of it) and now I see why you had over-hang, which was perfectly acceptable and you handled the load as the professional that you are. At the end of the video, I kind of figured that silver truck was your professional escort, but it was too late for me to edit my comment as I had posted it.

    !st time viewer, nice job, like the look, thought maybe for driving only, wrong. Question, do the scales give you guys extra attention, and do they know your route in advance ?

    • @awd4g63ix
      @awd4g63ix  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The scales will often pull us in and make us bring in all of our paperwork after checking our weights. From there, it's up to your appearance, your demeanor, and the state of your equipment on whether or not they'll inspect you further. I've never had an issue. Yes, technically they know your routes, but it's not like they're expecting you to pull onto their scales, and if you don't, they send a search party....The state approves the route, the DOT just ensures you're following it.

  • @JrFlexing909
    @JrFlexing909 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Man, driving that in to the drop off point really would get you sweating a little bit. Having to look both side to make sure nothing don't hit the tank or the tank hitting anything else while turning. But you did an excellent job getting it their and in to the drop point. I have a question, is their a load that you ever thought of hauling but have not hauled yet? or does it depend on the trailer you suppose to have?

    • @awd4g63ix
      @awd4g63ix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did say go for it. But most of the loads you looking for can be anywhere 100-900miles away you have to travel too. But you get what is the closest to you can grab and if it pays well for the miles you drive.

    • @awd4g63ix
      @awd4g63ix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's only one bed in the truck, so it does get a little crowded. Plus, we work hard and like to relax. Hotels allow us to get up and walk around, or both lay down in a bed if we want. Showers at night AND in the morning. TV, free internet....it's all so much better than crashing in the truck.

    • @awd4g63ix
      @awd4g63ix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can always factor our deadhead into whatever rate we quote the customer. I have no problem eating it though, because if I am, that means the load was already paying enough to start with. To me, I look at it as an investment...I can sit at home and play the waiting game, hoping for something to come up close to me; or, I can spend $200 bucks, and go make $X,XXX.00. Know what I mean? Lol.

    Hey, Nick. Can you break it down for us in your next video about overhang. I'm thinking once you reach 3' you need a flag? How many feet or in inches are you allowed to hang over before a light is needed? What is the maximum length you're able to overhang legally and what is required... more lights and flags or what? You guys are doing a fine job. Thank-you!

    • @awd4g63ix
      @awd4g63ix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can, but we don't do loads with that much overhang too often. Best thing I can tell you, is that every state is different on their requirements / tolerances for overhang. You can google a 2016 oversized permit book, and in there will be the information on every state and their very specific guidelines.

    Just found your channel yesterday, and had myself a bit of a binge watch. Loved all the videos. Really appreciate you putting the thought in to trying new camera positioning and other ideas. Oh, and it probably goes without saying (I will anyway), but the truck and trailer are absolutely gorgeous.
    I know you have said a video on permits is in the works, and if that is still the case, would like to hear your thoughts on electronic display of permits, rather than paper copies. Since it is quite new, and your home state, as well as the states you usually run, have not yet implemented it, I am just curious as to whether it is something you will look at moving to as more states adopt it, or if you will stick to the hard copy in hand.
    Both you and the 'old man' take care, and here is a little something to further cement the excellent idea that is the ties...

      Love that quote, by the way. Had never heard it before, but I dig it.

      Honestly, just have to have the equipment to be able to do the weight / length. The rest is just chasing the freight! People think there's some magic pathway you have to take...there's not..go after what you want, and get'er'did!

    and not a single belly wrap, all the straps going the same way, no chains. wth do I no.

      Scot Killough my question exactly...wth do you *know*. Apparently not english.
      As if this really warrants my time in explaining, straps going the same way makes no difference whatsoever. They pull the same regardless of which end the hook is on. The tank was also on cradles. Also, if I recall correctly, we made it there perfectly safe, with no shift of the load at all. Sounds like we did it right.
      G'day.

      ALSO - feel free to watch this as many times as you'd like. You go ahead and armchair quarterback and find me a good (rated) securement point for chains....don't worry, I'll wait.

      I didn't take it personally, it does get a bit old when people comment on how things should have been done when they weren't there though. These ideas seem great on paper or in a video, but the reality that sets in when the piece is on the trailer paints a whole new picture. We couldn't get chains on it because there was not a single worthy tie down point for them. We also couldn't really get belly wraps because of how big the tank was and how close the majority of it sat to the trailer; also, our straps wouldn't have been long enough. So, rubber and cradles with overlying straps were our choice...and it sufficed.

    Has been since August 4th since your last video, and now it's August 29. If your busy why are you not shooting what you can of the your experiences. If you're not busy, leave us know. I can't speak for others but I even enjoy the cam inside the truck seeing the dash, the road and listening to you talking. You don’t always have to show us loading and unloading or even the load if it’s customer sensitive. You said two videos ago, you were thinking of talking about topics and answering questions that we inquire about. For example my question would be: why do some trucks have "Super Singles" while other trucks have dual tires and is there any benefit to super singles vs dual tires. I'm sure others have questions that could fill up a few thousand miles of you talking and driving. But first and foremost, why the big lull in videos? You don’t have time to crank out a 15 minute video once a week? Should your viewers move on?

    • @awd4g63ix
      @awd4g63ix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I certainly hope my viewers don't just "move on". I hope they'd understand that when I started making these videos, they were just to give basic insight into what we did. I never intended on the channel growing as much as it has. I genuinely appreciate every single person who takes time out of their day to watch my videos and follow my progress; that being said, I hope they understand that TH-cam is not my first priority. I have a lot of things, especially this past month, that have been going on. Yes, I have slacked in putting up videos from time to time, but that's just the way it goes.
      As I've said before, I will TRY to get more content out there on a regular basis, but I will NOT be one of those TH-camrs that just throws up a video every week just because. If I do not have quality material to put out, I will stay silent. It's never just a 15 minute video. Editing, takes longer than anything. For instance, by now you have received a notification that I just uploaded a video. 4:30 long, took me over an hour to edit, process and upload. I take pride in the quality of my videos, and do not want to sacrifice that for content.
      Thank you for your understanding, and continued dedication to watching my channel and being a part of my journey.
      - Nick.

      Ok, Nick, I'll stay tuned and watch for your next video. I think I speak for everyone, when I say we like you, your truck, and your everyday life, so I wouldn't worry about poor content, I just don't see [poor content coming from you and you'll never please all the people all the time. Also if some people perceive your video as being boring or repetitive, they can always fast forward or skip the video and wait for the next video to come out. Talking about your favorite subject while you pound gears to get to your point of delivery or pick up I don't consider boring, regardless what you are hauling. Just being around trucks and what they do enthuses a lot of people, as we like the entire gamut. I know it takes time to render a video, and I respect that. I hope we see you soon.
