@@lyth1um A mack gets about 7 mpg on a full load, Diesel fuel. On a load like this, they're probaby closer to 5 mpg. There were 5 of those big bastards moving that thing, and each Mack has a fuel tank of 75 gallons (so 425 gallons in total).
There is a 683 mile trip between SoCal and Clive, Utah, so (425 gallons total x 5 miles per gallon) / 683 miles of trip = a refill of 3.111 times (we need to round up to 4 then).
So, 425 gallons per fuel cycle x 4 = 1700 gallons of diesel was spent for this trip. The average cost of diesel in the western US is $3.52 per gallon as of me writing this. So in total, they spent $5984 on fuel

My MACK Titan is everything I ever wanted from personal transportation and I can park it anywhere I like. Parked cars already in the bays? No problem- I just drive my MACK Titan right on in there and *almost* everyone moves right out of the way!

I saw a couple of these hauls go through my home area in the northern Mojave. They were impressive.
Yep I saw something just like this I was on 95 south hauling cars and a state trooper pulled me over and escorted be to a pull out cause my trucks to low to pull off the shoulder. I got some bad ass pictures of it.
Also saw it in Victorville it’s was amazing to look at it
I got to see one of these loads in person when they were moving these. It was stopped, waiting for night fall to move. It was sittin on the 15 north at Kenwood. It was very impressive to see it in person. It took up the entire gore point between the freeway and off ramp.

That's a very stupid explanation. Who would grow food for them? Who would prevent them from dying? Would they be constantly bringing new slaves for just one purpose, and waste food on them? When you put the numbers in, the theory of "hundreds of thousands of slaves working for tenths of years" is a childish fantasy.

Macks are a rare sight on U.S. roads. This 'titan' is no more capable than your average K.W. or Pete heavy haul. The trailer though...now that's impressive!

Saw this in person over a few days when I used to run from Vegas to SoCal. It was the largest combination I had ever seen. The trailer was lit up with floodlights at night and was just massive. It sucked getting stuck behind it. Actually got stuck behind 2 of them. I could not believe they were able to get it up Cajon. Was a slow go, but they did it.
They dont go thru the cajon pass, they cut out thru the 138 and or the 18 adelanto

You guys are so amazing pulling a heavy haul job of this magnitude !!! This is certainly a dangerous but very challenging job,however, someone has to do it and you guys stepped up to the challenge. What a GREAT customer case study - impressive.
Savage industries hauled a load over 1 million lbs. 1,700,000 to be exact. It was an autocar that pulled it with two Peterbuilt pusher trucks. They hauled an autoclave for a silver mine.

Mack makes a great truck! No denying but I run around them all day long fully loaded pullin 6% grades they're always in the way. Still a great truck though. CAT power all the way!

Aaron B do NOT waste your money on a Mack. They are awful trucks. Poorly designed, cheap materials, expensive to repair. Volvo owns them, and those trucks are great. Or Peterbilt gliders with a C-15 or 3406E engine.
I wish people could just enjoy the video instead of finding things too talk negative about they have every right to put their Mack's on show if they are what they like and need then so be it if they were using freightliners you would wonder where the peterbilts were great video keep em coming be safe

I think I spotted a couple of KW's At the rear.
We have a titan at the company I work for. We are an industrial repair and motor shoo so big loads but the two drivers we have for the truck both dislike it. Way to many issues and we end up with the older kenworth pulling most of the loads it seems.
I saw this thing years ago, in either Ohio or Pennsylvania. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I was on the eastbound side of the highway but was detoured onto the westbound lanes (well, not all of them, lol). The westbound lanes were elevated higher than the eastbound lanes which gave me a great view of them. As I continued on I saw it on the eastbound lanes, creeping along. My first thought was 'what the hell is that!?!' It was going VERY slow. Which made me want to slow down, but I couldn't. It was massive. It had so many tires. I couldn't even count them all. Before I knew it, the highway split and a small hill blocked my view of the giant vehicle and stayed that way. A mile or so down the road the detour ended and I was back on the proper eastbound lanes. I looked in my rear view, nothing coming. I decided to pull over and wait. I waited for 10 minutes then decided I didn't want to wait any longer. For all I knew it needed to stop at that detour area. But still, it was a really amazing sight.

Just an FYI: Every Mack truck has a bulldog top dead center of the hood. If the bulldog is chrome, the truck has a non-Mack engine like CAT or Cummins. If the bulldog is bronze/gold, the truck has a Mack "Maxi-Dyne" engine. I got a ride from a trucker once, and was amazed to see his big 3 axle truck had only a 5 speed tranny. That's because he had a Mack "Maxi-Dyne", and you can lug them down to 1,200 RPM's. I have no idea what Mack does to their engine to allow this LOW speed (Cummins, Cat, Detroits all let you go down to about 1650 before downshifting) but every other truck I've seen or driven has 10, 13, 15 or 18 forward gears. Mack also builds lot of specialty stuff like garbage trucks. But their market share is so low if I bought a truck it would be one of the Big Four: Pete, KW, Freightliner or IHC. You can be sure there's parts available wherever you go.

thats always bothered me. probably 40% of what you actually see on the road is freightliner and another 20% is international. petes and kws are fairly uncommon by comparison
In push/pull situations, is the amount of force supplied by each truck at all automated, or is it only the drivers talking to each other on radios ?
If it is just being controlled by multiple drivers, would each truck have any force sensors sending info to the drivers ?
Each truck operate independently and the drivers all coordinate by radio to make certain each is in the same gear and at the same RPM. That way if something unexpected happened each truck is able to react quicker with its own driver than they would with one person trying to remote control each one at the same time.
There is, as they said, one person for each dolly to steer them when making a turn. If you look at the trailer set up, they have 6 swivel points. One at each of the four dollies and two where the frame holding the generator attaches to the two beams that connects to the four dollies.
Each dolly has 12 axles, six on both sides, and each axle has four wheels. That is a total of 48 axles and a total of 192 wheels.
One carrying/mounting frame, two connecting beams, four dollies, 48 axles, and 192 wheels to support one generator. And five big trucks to move everything down the road and a crew of a couple of dozen or more to support the job.
@@oldtimefarmboy617 , thanks for all the info. I was wondering how closely each truck would be able to match the forward force supplied by the other trucks. I would think that the amount of mismatch would be greater than the mismatch exhibited by a string of diesel electric locomotives, since their electric motor rpm is automatically controlled by the lead engine.
I would love to have seen this traverse the Cajon pass. slow and steady.

Was a bit underwhelmed by the “huge power” of the truck, 600bhp and 2000ft/lb? We have 730bhp Scania’s and 750bhp Volvo’s making 2500ft/lb in the UK doing fridge and curtain sider work 😂
Narra D Mack Titan is using Volvo D16 engine with 600hp and 2000fpt, in US engine makers are restricted how much horse power they can put on engine from factory.

We have Catapilllar engines rated at 800HP from the factory you know. Many trucks have 600-800HP engines in the US ya know.

The weight is measure by how much weight each wheel exerts on the road.. That is why they use so many wheels, no fine because they arne't overweight.
