I just got mine from the wife for Xmas. I agree that these are specific for the PS5 and for most people they aren’t worth the money. I will say I think they are if you are console exclusive. First, I wasn’t initially wowed by the sound, used the large tips, but there is a caveat to this that I’m surprised Sony didn’t include: I changed the tips out like suggested online. I used my psvr2 earbud tips since they are the same diameter and more coned shaped. Made a big difference. Initially, before the tip swap, I thought that the clarity was outstanding. I noticed sounds on COD that I just didn’t realize or pay attention to. The 3d audio is awesome. I always like more bass, but feel like they are about the same as AirPod pros. After the tip swap everything is even better. They feel more comfortable, block out the noise, and sound even better. The lack of other options doesn’t bother me as I use an edge controller that allows volume level adjustments on the fly. I say swap the tips and give them a chance.
Thanks that a useful tip re psvr2 earbud tips. Might see if I can get some. How do you adjust the volume using edge controller I can see a function button mapped to it but on mine it doesn’t seem to do anything. Is there a setting I need to activate?
@@carkdonwah1528you hold the right lever below the joystick and while holding press the up down on the D pad to adjust volume. If you are in a PS chat room you can hold it and adjust the chat mix using left and right.
I think they worth $200 because you paying for the AI noise cancellation, lossless audio for gaming, ear buds for PS5 and PS Portal, able to listen to two devices at once with it having PS link button on both PS Pulse Explorers buds, and planar magnetic drivers
I’ve found the best way to wear them was to put them in like you said in the vid, then turn it counterclockwise. This will secure it more and not make it feel like it’s going to fall out.
Personally I’m loving the Pulse explores so far but I’m only using them for PS5 gaming and nothing else. I have AirPod Pros for going out and about but the Pulse Explores are perfect for my use case at home. I don’t need these to be ridiculously loud. But don’t people notice that these seem to max out at 75% volume compared to other earbuds? I notice this the most when connected to my phone for media/music. Sound quality has been great when gaming, I can hear everything but I am bothered by them not reaching a good volume when listening to music this is amplified by the fact that they don’t have ANC and when out and about they struggle against the ambient noise in the environment.

They definitely need more bass. Clarity is excellent but the bass is lacking. Fit for me is no issue but they keep disconnecting and reconnecting. So I hope a firmware update comes out to fix that and hopefully give them more bass too.
I bought these for my psvr2. I loved the sound and fit. Once i used the correct size earbuds i got a better seal and the base was much better. Although, i kept on getting disconnects constantly. My last resort in troubleshooting the problem was to put the usb dongle in the back usb a ports and three days later still no disconnects. Apparently, using the usb c and the usb-a in front caused issues but only with psvr2 flat games worked fine with the dongle in the front.

I agree, I struggle with the fit too. I connected these to the PS4 and it was struggle but after a few attempts they connected. At somepoint I will get a PS5.
Bought these and sent them back as soon as they left my ears. Bass was horrendous and messing about trying to get the seal right is an absolute deal breaker. Swapped it for Arctis nova pro wireless and best thing I ever did.
Is the nova pro rhe top of the line steel series? I have the older arctis pro wireless and they're incredible so I'd bet the nova are unbeatable too I am curious about the pulse elites because planar magnetic drivers are better but apparently you need to tweak them to get them sounding right Usually I avoid headphones like that but planar drivers are so much better I'm reconsidering lol
Can’t wait to see what foam tips you figure out, these never fall out of my ears however I know the foam tips will really fit well, regardless if they deteriorate quicker.
For me personally the fit is perfect using the medium size tips that it comes with. The only problem that I have is the constant disconnect/reconect, I heard some people fix this by using a usb-c converter on the ps link adapter, I tried it for a 30mins session of gaming, so far havent have any disconnect yet, lets hope this really fix it

Can you please tell me how do they compare with the pulse 3d? Have you tried them both? Do these have the Equlizer option like the pulse 3d? I think thats whats selling the Pulse 3d. That EQ adjustment. Otherwise the Pulse 3D would have been a low quality type of headphones.
Don’t sit next to an AC unit or fan. Every PS item that uses a dongle gets disconnected whenever I want a nice artificial breeze pushed in my direction. This even goes back to the Pulse headsets from the PS3 era.
For ps5 slim you can only use the Bluetooth adapter on the back of the console? Is there a good multi usb hub that we can use in the front to use our headphones without over heating in the back
The buds fit great for me. I must say $50 less would be better, but the dual sound mix with phone and PS5 is the best. I love to listen to dub and game while streaming and I can with these. Also I use to only use headset. But now my skin is getting irritated from the bands and fabric. Getting old is a thing with skin sensitivity along with glasses being pinched between the headset my ear . No more ear sweating either. Yes you can just use 1 bud at a time as well. Like you mentioned ckid. Sony did drop a few balls on this. But made some interesting ones too.
you should try to use it directly to the ps5 instead of the portal to really get the best sound quality, i think it is due to the sound compression that the portal has to do over streaming.
They are valued at 100$ plus tax, although you guys forgot branding fees, so it being a PlayStation Sony product, that’s an additional 150$ just for the logo
Thanks for the review, im looking for what youre saying about the "Wow" moment i held out when i saw this coming last year, but seeing this vid, well ill just buy another or wait for the Gen 2 of this and maybe it will be worth it.
@@erickpenaloza1they’re planar magnetic drivers and your ears are not the same as everyone else’s… so the ear tips might not fit therefore ruining your sound experience, maybe you could go and buy off brand eartips. I’ve heard from multiple sources that they sound really great and that they’re worth it. Maybe you should consider different factors in the lack of sound quality before judging them and putting it out on the internet.
6:50 you was looking for the Penrose or Maxwell wow typa sound. I get what you’re saying 100% gonna be hard to get that out of such a small driver unfortunately.
I was thinking about getting these buds. My Steele series headset is on its way out. I randomly found this video and I really enjoyed this review and I thought you explained all your points very well. Are there any buds out there that you would really recommend.
If you would just rotate them around you will immediately know which is the correct orientation. They are actually kinda fool-proof design. It would only fit properly into your ears in a single direction only but I guess they probably overestimated ability of some people to notice things by a little bit…
Most definitely NOT the right way to wear the explores. The logo on the buds tells you how they should be positioned. You lose audio quality how you have them In
I say that there are perfect for the quality that you're going to get from your portal. It is all streaming.. And you're paying for the convenience that it hooks up to the portal wirelessly basically and that low proprietary frequency crap.. When you get home and you around your ps5 you can just put your inzones on.. The inzone is their premium side of sound quality.. I have the h9 and it is a dream on shooters..
Bro when you talking about adding those features they would be More than 200 I have the true wireless earbuds wf 1000xm4 they have all those features you talking about and they were 299 and xm5 just recently came out.. 300 ... We all no more features more money... I actually like the pulse explorers fit great doesn't come out my ears sound is great too me... Nothing is going to be perfect....I'm just saying..
Not only that the Pule Explorers are designed for GAMING not listening to music. Having a clear sound is all they need, that's why they have the magnetic planar.
@@CKidM The inzones are not compatable with anything without that dongle. That can’t even connect via blue tooth with most android phones. And then the explorers are DESIGNED FOR GAMING not music. Do you know anything about planar magnetic drivers ???
If only you can turn up voice chat and background game play. I like more voice chat and a little background game play but cant do that, unless there’s something I’m missing in the settings. U can shut background off completely. But that’s not how i want it. Went back to my headphones until I find a solution. Audio was ok.
Yeah its honestly weird how the earbuds are above the headphones lol like if the headphones are 150 then the buds should be 100, ik its because their bluetooth and more convenient, i still think the prices should be flipped the other way
Gonna be a lot different than those junky ass pulse 3D headphones considering pulse 3D headphone hears a standard dynamic driver and these use planar magnetic driver (much better hardware) these are made through audeze and those pathetic ass headphones are made well who cares where they are made because they are that much of a rip off lol.
There was a software update for these 2-3 weeks ago that released EQ and Sidetone for these earbuds. If you’re buying these to use outside of your house then I don’t think that’s the way to go. I have my Apple AirPods Pro 2 for that type of thing. These are meant for gaming…
When your talking about EQ for PlayStation or even mobile pulse isn’t the only one to have the issue majority of people don’t have PC so mainly like pulse and inzone don’t have that type of app
You keep mention in the price, but everybody's wallet aint the same.😅broke people are going to say two hundred dollars is too much no matter how great it is. It's the quality of the sound that's the most important imo the price is 2nd. Just like everyone's ears aren't gonna have issues like you had. In terms of the best earbuds to wear for PS5, I think these are the best. I would also wear them just in general for my t v or tablet, so their versatile. Also, I'm sure they will update the PS5 to include more features to sync with the earbuds. Like they did what they do Edge it just takes time.
Awesome 👏🏽 detail explanation video bro, keep up the good work! And they are straight but I feel PlayStation is holding out on these and the Portal with software updates same how they did with the PS5 when it first came out and we couldn’t add a SSD drive until future software updates it’s all a market game from PlayStation. But great video Happy Holidays God Bless
You MUST have the correct earpad size in as well or youre base and slubd is going to be bad. If theyre falling out then they arent big enough OR your esrs sweet real bad on the inside. Audio is not bad at all with these earbuds. Theyre great for earbuds. I think thry should be $150 though. But like i tell everyone when it comes to earbuds, it always seems like everyone has different experiences and thats got to be how they fit differently in peoples ear. As far as 5 hours of battery life goes thats as long as my pro controller lasts. I think touch volume would be perfect. Right ear tap to increase. Left ear tap to decrease. Mmm
I was starting to say these rcrap but till he said u could connect to ur phone and the Ps5 it cost a lot of money to add that tech to your product that’s why the stealth pros are expensive
I was finally able to pick mine up from Best Buy today. I've been debating with myself whether I should bother opening them to try or should I just return them and stick with the Inzone Buds. Then this video appears....

I love the inzone buds but I really don’t understand this whole LE Bluetooth, which eliminates Bluetooth use on all iPhones. If it wasn’t for that they’d be my main buds
I agree, I struggle with the fit too. I connected these to the PS4 and it was struggle but after a few attempts they connected. At somepoint I will get a PS5.
Glad I'm not the only one
Bought these and sent them back as soon as they left my ears. Bass was horrendous and messing about trying to get the seal right is an absolute deal breaker. Swapped it for Arctis nova pro wireless and best thing I ever did.
Is the nova pro rhe top of the line steel series? I have the older arctis pro wireless and they're incredible so I'd bet the nova are unbeatable too
I am curious about the pulse elites because planar magnetic drivers are better but apparently you need to tweak them to get them sounding right
Usually I avoid headphones like that but planar drivers are so much better I'm reconsidering lol
Just returned mine this morning. I just couldn't get them to stay in my ears 😢
Can’t wait to see what foam tips you figure out, these never fall out of my ears however I know the foam tips will really fit well, regardless if they deteriorate quicker.
Ps5 vr2 ear tips work for them
For me personally the fit is perfect using the medium size tips that it comes with. The only problem that I have is the constant disconnect/reconect, I heard some people fix this by using a usb-c converter on the ps link adapter, I tried it for a 30mins session of gaming, so far havent have any disconnect yet, lets hope this really fix it
Mine disconnect every 30 mins or so. It only drops for a second or two and reconnects, but it always seems to be at the worst time in game. What’s the hack/technique you are referring to?
@@randc47 apparently nothing permanently fix this problem for now, if you can’t stand it just return the buds and wait till Sony fix the problem, if they ever will
i know right mine discnect when a battery bar drops and every review does not talk about this i had to look at online fourms to see how many people are having this and its alot hope a firmware can fix this @@randc47
Thank you for wearing them. After seeing that, the nail went into the coffin of "no sale". 😂
Damn. It’s weird that it doesn’t bother me when people repeat themselves in person, but it gets me goooiiinn when people do it on TH-cam videos.
Question are the Samsung link buds compatible with the PlayStation portal?
Does your right earbud drain battery a lot quicker than the left one? That’s what’s happening to me.
My right one crackles and disconnects a lot
you should try to use it directly to the ps5 instead of the portal to really get the best sound quality, i think it is due to the sound compression that the portal has to do over streaming.
Just found your channel recently, loving the content 🔥🔥🔥
They are valued at 100$ plus tax, although you guys forgot branding fees, so it being a PlayStation Sony product, that’s an additional 150$ just for the logo
So what ear buds would u recommend for a ps5
I always have weird feeling about this pair or headset ngl. Beside, I already have my Samsung Buds 2 Pro. I am waiting for the headphone one.
I’m just wondering, are the explorers only for the portal or can I also use them with my PS5?
Yes you can use with your PS5
@@CKidM Thanks
Thanks for the review, im looking for what youre saying about the "Wow" moment i held out when i saw this coming last year, but seeing this vid, well ill just buy another or wait for the Gen 2 of this and maybe it will be worth it.
Good video 🫡 bit random but what are your glasses called?
I’m glad I didn’t buy these , these should be worth $100
I wouldn't go $100 I think $150 is fair...but not $200
They don't seem like they even worth 100 maybe 80 can't connect to anything else they lose value from me
@@CKidM I think the Pulse 3D Sony Headset sounds better than these and they cost $100. That’s why I said they should be worth $100
Definitely not worth 200.00….i cop those Arctis 7 for 139.99 and they are compatible with the psp and Legion Go
You have to use or buy smaller earbuds (the rubber piece; they come in different sizes).
What about lag from ps5 or portal ??
I have used workarounds to get bluetooth audio on ps5 and had 1s lag using sony earbuds too
6:50 you was looking for the Penrose or Maxwell wow typa sound.
The only 😮😮grel in 🎉😅😮😮hi😮😅 I’ll😮
If you would just rotate them around you will immediately know which is the correct orientation.
They are actually kinda fool-proof design. It would only fit properly into your ears in a single direction only but I guess they probably overestimated ability of some people to notice things by a little bit…
Most definitely NOT the right way to wear the explores. The logo on the buds tells you how they should be positioned. You lose audio quality how you have them In
I wouldn't mind if they made them abit more bigger in order to have a higher batter life expectancy per use for the price
I only died twice in GOWRV I just had to pay attention to the "body language"of the bosses and fodder characters
Man I just got passed the part where Mimir turned into Helios lol. If you only died twice then you are the real MVP
@@CKidM well I'm playing for a second run kinda hard to find the realm shift at first.Mvp? nah..I do ok for a 57 year old
Agree on the 150, but how did you not get how they fit. Lol
Foam tips that’s like using a napkin instead of a jimmy 🤷🏽♂️
The fact these are the same price as the inzones is crazy
Sony listen to this guy / for the future of new devices
I say that there are perfect for the quality that you're going to get from your portal. It is all streaming.. And you're paying for the convenience that it hooks up to the portal wirelessly basically and that low proprietary frequency crap.. When you get home and you around your ps5 you can just put your inzones on.. The inzone is their premium side of sound quality.. I have the h9 and it is a dream on shooters..
The Inzones sound quality doesnt mean anything if they arent compatible with anything.... you cant use them without that dongle it comes with.
The INZONE Buds are $200 and have all the features that ware missing on the Pulse Explore's.
@@CKidM The inzones are not compatable with anything without that dongle. That can’t even connect via blue tooth with most android phones.
And then the explorers are DESIGNED FOR GAMING not music. Do you know anything about planar magnetic drivers ???
@@pitster1105that’s right let him know homie
Glad you came back and told us the real.
I had to fam! Thanks for watching
If only you can turn up voice chat and background game play. I like more voice chat and a little background game play but cant do that, unless there’s something I’m missing in the settings. U can shut background off completely. But that’s not how i want it. Went back to my headphones until I find a solution. Audio was ok.
Yeah its honestly weird how the earbuds are above the headphones lol like if the headphones are 150 then the buds should be 100, ik its because their bluetooth and more convenient, i still think the prices should be flipped the other way
I have them I like them - but to the battery life! Doesn’t the case charge the ear buds?!!!
Are there any different than the headphones??? I haven't found any comparisons
There is a update out now...that won't update earbuds an disconnects them ...no videos on this
Can you use each earbud solo?
it should be facing 45 deg up
Just curious are you gonna work on some replacement ear bud tips for the explorer
When your talking about EQ for PlayStation or even mobile pulse isn’t the only one to have the issue majority of people don’t have PC so mainly like pulse and inzone don’t have that type of app
@byiihizq it’s honestly sad how non existent gaming headset support consoles get like there deadass non
The latest update fixed these issues
Does the connection with the dongle have more range?
Same happened with me. Saw all the bad reviews while mine was being shipped out. Got it in the mail. Thought about just returning it. Then thought what if they’re actually good and I missed out on that opportunity?
So I tried them. Yep. Terrible. Can’t believe these are $200
just return them and use wired ones, its not a noticiable difference. Go buy yourself 3 games for the price.
@@lordpaladore exactly what I'm thinking. Or adding a couple extra $ and finally getting a Switch. Better ways to spend the $200 for me right now
idk why people think that having a lot of bass in a earbuds is good or makes the earbuds good and show quality. Specially with planar as small as those. But whatever
I'm glad I ordered the inzone instead today because of the previous comparison video
I'm curious to get your thoughts when you have them.
Can they not update them to improve them ?
Great video. Recently found your channel and really enjoy it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
Hey huge fan of your channel.. my ps5 slim has yellow dots on the screen.. need help. What should I do??
im in the mkt for new headset or ear buds for console and work. i need something that connects to two devices at once like these earbuds do. I got a pair of inzone h9s, headband has fallen apart in like 3 months. kinda sucks being that i paid $300. any suggestions?
Do another video of the ps5 slim & hows it's holding up.i want to get one this week but I'm still hesitant due to the overheating issue
There is no over heating issue
There is no overheating issues...it's been running great for me. I did a 1 month later video already I would check that out.
It's overheating? Man that's bad..
@@Justmeandmy20cents theses literally no over heating
i had to experiment with tips from tow different sides to get the right fit.
All you have to do is look at the promotional images of people wearing the buds to know how to wear them
You can change the EQ settings for more bass or whatever
I wish they were $200 or less the street price in Canada is over $300 after taxes ($280 retail) 😡
A picture shows up how to wear them on the ps5 when you use them the first time. :)
Bro do you think these are good, OR the pulse 3d headset or the inzone? I need to know rn
Go with the inzone or pulse elite
@@Brandon0159 really??!! Buds suck?
@@Brandon0159 u are right. I like the explore buds , but not for 200 bucks. I am happy they connect to the phone tho
Is there a mic monitoring?
Quick question where is the best place to order new skins for the ps5?
I would say DBrand or Colorware
@@CKidM thanks. U rock.
@@karenwilliams1442 you know I got you!
I’m looking for new tips for mine any good recommendations because after a while it annoying
You did wear them correctly in the first video you made. Wearing them horizontally is incorrect PS already showed how to correctly wear them .
Honestly, five hours isn’t bad considering you’re probably don’t always need to have both in, so you can always have one charging
But on the description it says active noise cancelation?🤔
