Excellent content, thank you. One of the best roundup reviews I’ve seen. Been doing a lot of homework on this and found this really gets to the heart of things and validates much of the research I’ve done. Thank you
Ultimate guide indeed! 👏 This is hands down the best audio gear roundup I’ve come across…period. Thank you for not only touching on the best options for gaming, but also pointing out iems and headphones that work well for music too. Immensely helpful for those of us who want a solid all-rounder choice. This guide really helps to filter out all the “noise” on the inter-webs, helping to make my decision much simpler and more straightforward. I gotta say, your channel is my absolute favorite for all things gaming and audio. I can always rely on a non-biased opinion here which is refreshing to say the least. You put a lot of work and passion into your content and it shows. Cheers!
A neat trick with the G6: Want to give any of your closed back wired headphones or IEMs transparency mode? Get a nice inexpensive 3.5mm camera mic, like the ones BOYA makes, and turn on monitoring in your recording settings and adjust the level. I basically need transparency in my environment, so this has been an amazing feature for me.
@@GadgetryTech Open back vs iems for rpg gaming, red dead redemption 2, elden ring, baulders gate 3, assassin's creed games, ect. Looking at hifiman edition xs or Truthear nova. I'm in quite environment, wire or wireless don't matter, playing on consoles, connected to the controller. I have the maxwell they are excellent. Price around 280 or less
A lot of people ask about maxwells FPS imaging. As someone who owns the turtlebeach stealth pros, sony pulse elite, and maxwells and I play competitive shooters, here's what I said to another poster here: The maxwells aren't great for imaging/FPS. They just don't really separate footstep audio all that well. If there is nothing else going on they have good clarity, as soon as you introduce a lot of different sounds they have a hard time separating. In terms of vertical/horizontal imaging they are lackluster. I play games such as Hunt showdown where you can have compounds with very detailed/intricate layouts (3-4 story prison compounds with multiple entrances and different audio for outside at the top inside at the top depending on the level they're on), and the maxwells just really struggle here. I couldn't tell what level they were on or how high or how low compared to me. The maxwells are incredible for things such as movies/music/immersive games with great soundtracks (for example Manor Lords which just came out or any single player games or milsim shooters such as hell let loose or Squad 44, etc.). The stealth pros and sony pulse elite (made by Audeze along with Sony) just blow the maxwells out of the water for competitive shooters. I really don't understand how Audeze made something so much better for gaming at a $150 dollars cheaper. Had the Sony Pulse Elite come out at the same time I would've easily bought them over the maxwells, they're 50%+ cheaper and just have way better detail retrieval. I can hear things I could never hear when FPS gaming before. The stealth pros are also amazing. You can't go wrong with either one for competitive FPS. I have a hard time deciding between the two when I'm gaming, it's that close. I can hear a bit further out with the stealth pros, but I can hear minor details even slightly better with the Pulse Elite, it's very close though and barely noticeable. Maxwells shills will tell you things like "your ears are just not tuned to good headphones, you're used to bad sound". They are not subjectively bad, they are objectively bad at imaging compared to other headphones at both the same price point and cheaper price points. I saw people with $100 hyperx headphones hear footstep details way better than me, that's unacceptable at $350 for headphones that are reviewed for gaming purposes. I don't have an allegiance to headphones, I want whatever gives me the best advantage when playing shooters. I really want to like the maxwells, I really do. I've tried everything to EQ them to get them better for FPS, but for whatever reason they just aren't great for them despite a lot of audiophile reviewers saying they're incredible for FPS. Gadgetry is the only one I saw give an honest opinion that they aren't good at imaging. I heard they just dropped a questionable firmware update as well which maxwells users aren't happy with. I'm not sure if they can somehow firmware these in the future to improve them for imaging purposes, but as of right now I just can't in good faith recommend them over the other two. It's at the point where I don't use them at all for competitive gaming because of the other two being far superior and actually giving me a "wallhack" advantage.
Great post. I've just bought the Pros largely thanks to this man. Have you had any issues with the boom mic and if so were they resolved thru settings? I've heard people saying the internal ones sound better. I use mic monitoring and have been getting echo problems as well as generally sounding a bit tinny/metallic. Other than that I'm impressed coming from 700gen2 Maxs
Cant complain about the Maxwell, after setting up specific EQ Settings i can hear footsteps extremely well and always know the position of enemies in COD or Escape from Tarkov, twice as good as with my previous Headset. The Maxwell sent my MMX 300 2. Gen & Sound Blaster X G6 into retirement, as footsteps werent that well noticeable, even with double EQ Settings. The Maxwell might not have features like Scout-Mode or etc, but imho they are not needed after setting it up correctly. PS: Also... the general sound quality is just toooo good for that price point.
Agree with this, i have the maxwells but i switched to the astro a50x and i hear footsteps so much better tbh... maxwells are amazing like music / movies and single player games , because they are really clear but for gaming *Fps* i don't think planar drivers are a good idea, not for the imaging friend has hifi man planar and yeah same issue with imaging so he switched back to the ad700x , i also have had a few headsets from using arc mk2 dac with like Audio-Technica AD700X which this combo really good, mine just got old xD and thought might aswell have a change. i have had the nova pro's which where pretty decent, also had the DT 990 PRO but they had a nasty high pitch to certain sounds which was not nice. so far i would say astro a50x personal choice

As always Joe, thanks so much for the inclusion of our Kimura! If anyone has any questions about the Kimura or other Antlion Audio products (ModMic etc) just reply here and I'll get back to ya!
I just replaced my HD800S and must give a STRONG warning against it: 1. the size adjustment is not strong enough. For me whenever I picked it off the headset stand and put it on, its adjustment changed due to a lack of grip on the steps in the metal headband. 2. Its cable costs 200 € to replace and (for me) the mantling of the short cables that split towards the earpieces just dissolved after 2-3 years - the mantling turned into crumbly yet sticky pieces. My previous Sennheiser headset is still like new after 16 years (apart from the ear cushions of course). Then I spent 10x the money for the HD800S and the headphones lasted a third of the time. THe sound quality and comfort is superb though.
Thanks for the updated audio guide. I recently purchased the Arctis Nova 7x based on your previous video recommendation and prior to this video being posted. I’m glad I did because I got them for about $125 after taxes. Now they’re back up to almost $180. Hopefully I don’t get a lemon. 🤙🏽
High end headphones and headsets are like supercars. There are nuance differences, but they're all fast. The nova 7x is like a Honda Accord. It's got plenty to speed to get you to the grocery store and do it comfortably at a much cheaper price. Ultimately, what else do you need?
@@GadgetryTechgreat video man 🔥 but pls I am new to gaming actually and what is the difference between wired and wireless headsets and which one is better for gaming and thank you bro for this guide
Got the Hexas last month. Have been loving them. I keep hearing negative things about them recently like how they have no bass at all or that they are overhyped and not worth, which is very odd seeing as people went from literally nothing but love for the 7hz Zero (OG) to pretty much shitting the direct upgrade to it. I mean, sure they don't have bass head level bass and neither does the 7hz Zero.. but the Hexas are still punchy. It gets the job done, they are most definitely worth. Glad to see them on the list, makes me feel better about the purchase, not that I needed someone else to make me feel that way, because to me, they sound amazing and especially for Rainbow Six. I also just bought the Dunu S&S. Hope they are good, have also been seeing some mixed comments about them. Like some crazy ass excuses to sway me from not getting them despite the majority of people liking them..
I've stayed away from wired for years, but I'm feeling like going with the 490 Pro and a K11 DAC to get some good sound quality. Thanks for the great video again man.
Glad to see the GC7 get a shoutout. I don’t see a lot about it, even since the price dropped (it was like 180 when I bought it). The sound quality is solid, the controls as you mentioned are second to none without breaking a switchboard and Bluetooth/app controls make it amazing for use on Linux where native software can be limited.
warning, Audeze Maxwell has a lot of problems the right ear on my Maxwell died twice and people have experienced also some problems it is an amazing headset but with its own problems. amazing video. thank you
Still rocking the KSC75s on PS5 their definitely great for competive gaming been using them on Warzone, Rebirth Ranked play and MW3 Ranked play really good and affordable recommended! Thanks for mentioning them Tech you the man!
I got the Maxwell for sound quality primarily, and so far it has been great for different games, Like: FFVII Rebirth (FF has amazing music and performance from the actors), Dragons Dogma 2, Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade. looking into getting one IEM for mixed use
This is an amazing video with plenty of great recommendations. I've never seen those wireless headphones with swappable battery. If they include an analogue out as well then it's genius, as they won't be useless after a couple of years of battery degredation unlike most wireless stuff
He recommends Audeze Maxwell. I bought them for xbox with HUGE expectation, but I they were nothing but bullshit, ended devolving them. He lost credibility. I prefer the bald bearded guy. He helped me to know I'd rather go for turtle beach stealth Pro for xbox. All I want is good sound image and stage.
Thank you for your effort and the truthiness on what you said.I personally have SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 , Simgot EM6L , HD 560 s and DT 900 pro x.For the wired ones they are plugged on ifi zen dac v2. I can say that at least for COD MW3 multiplayer DT 900 pro x are the better ones especially for footsteps and immersion. For music I prefer hd 560 s for most of genres. What is your opinion of DT 900 pro x for gaming?
I have been researching gaming headsets vs headphones trying to search for something that I liked as much as the original HyperX Cloud IIs (before they got bought out and changed them). This video has been the single most helpful resource I have found. Thank you for the DD and effort.
JBL Quantum for dynamic/overall (single player, and music), the Sony Pulse Elite for dedicated first-person shooters (ie specific to multiplayer / FPS use, sacrifice in the open world games / music). Corsair is not in the same league as these two options, no need to consider them. For me, being focused on sound quality I’d go JBL - signature sound and bass is perfect for single player titles and music. But if you play only FPS then Pulse Elite is designed for locating footsteps of players ;)
Still Corsair Virtuoso XTs with wicked cushions over all of these for me even for solely playing on PS5. Great build quality, great sound out of the box without eq’ing, class leading mic, and simultaneous Bluetooth with separate volume control 👌
I’m pretty sure you dont use the mic that often??? I had those and i had to sent back… my teammates complained and even the enemy complained about my mic😂😂😂 the texturized wired rubs on your clothes and the mic picked alot of breathing and i’m not a big breather…
Which IEM would you recommend for playing guitar with rock emphasis in the range or around 50$. I play electric guitar along Metallica, Pink Floyd, etc (with backing track). I plug in the headphones into my guitar processor and this is how I play at night.
Been seeing a lot of stuff recently about IEMs being a lot better bang for buck than gaming headsets, even the best ones. Can you do a breakdown of IEMs vs Headsets and maybe some comps? Like if I have a Nova7x, what would be a comprable IEM? Would you recommend IEM over headset? The main drawback of IMEs seem to be lack of integrated mic. I know mics on headsets generally aren't great in terms of quality, but sometimes its about being "good enough' and just nailing convenience. Potential solutions to this issue with IEMs?
I'm an old avid audiophile and videophile, to the extent that I've even created a music channel. In terms of quality in the high-end segment, I have the HIFIMAN HE1000SE. In my free time, I plug it directly into the PS5 DualSense controller, and the sound is unbelievable without an external amp, DAC, or anything.
This is the most perfect video I've ever seen. I've been looking for a headset with a good sound quality, microphone, so I think I'll be thinking about Maxwell and mg20.
Just got my Arctis 7 Nova's today, super happy with them along with your settings! They changed the EQ in Sonar for the mic (no longer sliders) so now it includes bandwidth. Any chance you could advise or do an update to include bandwidth for each of the bands?
Really comprehensive video. Thanks a lot for including pretty highend gear as well. Too often I find these lists of gaming headphones or earphones and they will stop at at $400 USD when I currently use the Sennheiser IE600 IEM's and considering buying the Westone Audio - Mach 70 Universal IEM which cost $2,200 AUD because I love highend audio but also enjoy gaming with my friends. Other reviewers should always bare in mind that there are always going to be gamers who are happy and able to spend a lot of money buying relatively premium gaming and audio gear such as I'm about to order the ROG OLED that was recently released and use quality microphones such as my RODE NT Mini I think it is and want to power my audio with quality amplification. Thanks for also including the amplifiers to drive the headphones of choice in your video though I do wish you included some higher-end options suitable for IEM and USB C mic input. I'm not sure I've seen such a comprehensive video on gaming audio prior to this.
Should I buy IEMs and just plug them into my case's headphone port or my motherboard's headphone port or buy a audio interface. I used to own a M-AUDIO solo but recently sold it so i really can't be bother buying another one. I'm using them for gaming like Valorant or Siege.
HI. I think i'll buy the Simgot EM6L, nice price and it will surely be a major upgrade compared to the sony extra bass i use for Warzone. Quick question: the Apple Dongle does really make a big difference? I wanted to buy one, anyways, but my PC doesn't have a usb-C connector. Is there another dongle you could recommend, usb-A? Thanks, and great video, you helped me make my decision on the IEMs.
I started with the G3, but when I discovered the GC7, I had to have it! Those controls are invaluable. I pair it with HD560s and mod mic wired version- amazing combo for the price! Great job, your videos are amazing!
Thanks for making this extensive guide! I've been intrigued by the VZR Model One since learning they exist literally last week, I also discovered another headphone with a very unique presentation called the Crosszone CZ-10. I'd love for you or anyone else to compare these two for gaming! There doesn't seem to be anyone on the planet that owns both of these headphones.
I placed an order for thee Audeze Maxwell in mid-April for their May batch. I can't wait. I bought the Mobius when it was on Indiegogo for funding. My first unit broke, and so did my second one. I still use the second one. It's all off balanced, but it gets the job done. It will be nice to compare the two and see how far Audeze has come with their gaming headphones.
I don't have a lot of experience with almost all of these heasdsets, but I can say that I ordered the Audeze Maxwells and have had nothing but issues with it. The sound quality, when it works, is incredible. But problems pop up so frequently that I couldn't recommend it to anyone. Trying to go through support to get a refund on mine.
@@MrKarangill1000 Nah, since I bought them from a retailer (Adorama), Audeze wouldn't give me a refund. And I was outside of the return period thru Adorama to that to work. I RMA'd the first set but still had issues: mic issues in work calls via teams would occasionally not turn on, mic & sound issues (couldn't hear anything) in Discord, and occasionally game sound just wouldn't work and I had no idea why. I didn't think it was worth the headache so I just bought a different headset and chalked this up to a learning experience.
I had the same experience as you friend. I went with the Master and Dynamic MG20 for the similar sound quality. It's a shame because the Maxwell on sound alone is great... way too many issues outside of sound though.
This was awesome. So if I had to pick out new headphones currently using the Audeze Mobius that has fallen apart are we saying Audeze Maxwell is the best pick right now? DT 900 Pro X vs Maxwell we still going Maxwell?
My razer nari just broke and i am on the market, i love the review, very informative. I really dislike the new razer lineup so ima be switching to an entirely different brand. Any suggestions on purely immersive headphones?
This is a well put together video, and I truly appreciate your diligence in all of this! Question, Would you recommend Kiwi Orchestra Lite IEMs or the Audeze Maxwell for FPS games?
@GadgeTryTech I’m looking for the best multi platform headset for gaming primarily on the Xbox series x and PS5. I’m personally between the Astro A50 X/ A50 playsync, Steel series Arctis Nova Pro wired or just going with two headsets that keep full functionality on both platforms like chat mix sound modes 3D sound Dolby atmos etc. What would be your pick?
Hi Joe, great review as always! While considering the Turtle Beach option, here’s something from my experience: I bought $160 headphones from them, and right after the warranty expired, the boom mic broke. I reached out for a repair-even offered to pay-but was flatly refused. It’s crucial for viewers to consider after-sales support. Turtle Beach's stance on repairs could be a dealbreaker for some. Let’s keep pushing for better service and sustainability in tech! 🌍🎧 #TechInsight #SustainableTech #turtlebeach
Hi man, I’ve watched your turtle beach recon 500 in the past. Do you recommend them still today, or the steelseries arctis nova 1? I’d use them with PS5 through the controller. My doubt is purely on sound quality and if the mic on the Recon is adjustable and not too long. Thank you if you’ll answer :)
Hello, I love your vid! I have a question about IEMs - how their sound imaging compare to headphones/headsets ? Take EM6L/Dusk for example, to which headset you could compare them looking at just FPS gaming performance? Are they better than Maxwells in this regard? Thanks!
Awesome video. I have the Schiit Hel but I upgraded to an XLR microphone. So now I looking for and upgrade from the Hel with a balanced headphone out. Do you guys have any good recommendations?
Thanks, I"ve been looking a lot. Picked up the Arctic Nova 5x, happy with sound, but have to fold my ears to get them in. They are going back, but you mentioned WC FreeZe Cooling Gel? They seem much larger I.D. Should I try that? TIA.
FYI as a Hearing Aid Specialist. your local Hearing Aid practices may give you for free or charge (especially if you refer anyone to them for a hearing test) very inexpensively for Ear Mold Impressions. super easy and quick less than 10mins to shoot EMI for ppl. i use to give a local church's band free EMI's for their whole band to get custom molds. do any of the IEM brands you mentioned let you submit EMI's?
Good sounding custom IEMs are only available with select boutique brands and models, and are very expensive (>1000$). Generally the only people who use them are very experienced audiophiles with tons of gear and money, or music artists and well known producers
@miscwork-qb7pd it must be a lazy and or time consuming thing tho. Or they don't have their own equipment. All that I know about making custom hearing aids in dozens of different styles, and it's basically 3D printers now a days. It should be really easy and not add any cost for these brands. You can get custom hearing aids for only a few hundred dollar's. With all the tech and mark up bullshit inside it too. The custom shelling isn't even a cost
@@mz1929 Speaking purely outside of sound technicalities and manufacturing cost, IEMs are designed to last and fit all kinds of ears, kinda like wired headphones. If you don't like the tuning of an expensive set of IEMs, you can sell it second hand. This is almost impossible with custom sets, so you really have to love the tuning beforehand Also I believe most hearing aids nowadays are wireless and battery powered, so they're not designed to last 5-10 years (the mic and wireless tech improves massively by then anyway)
@miscwork-qb7pd kinda irrelevant response I don't understand. The point is IEM's don't all fit the infinte different types of ears. I have never found a non custom made in ear anything that fits me comfortably, I have small ears. From ear plugs, to hearing aid shells, to every gen of samsung ear buds I have tried etc. Some people need/must have custom. And In general will always be better if it's a option. Hence why all professional/celebrities typically have custom made ones
@@mz1929 It's not useful comparing what celebrities and highly professional people have to what normal people use. The budget is too different I agree good custom moulded IEMs would be much better for comfort, which is important. Atm it's just very expensive for IEMs because the demand is very low (so they charge what they want) and most people buying (audiophiles) would prefer a better sound over comfort (look at the headphones market and how many expensive sets are uncomfortable)
Love the take on the Astro’s being great for office work + gaming. I’m looking at the new A50 gen 5 coming out next month. Is there a better audiophile combo for similar money (A bit more is ok)? I’m looking to connect to a laptop for work (Teams, Zoom, etc), PC (to game, discord), and be able to take phone calls from a cell phone all on the same headset.
Could you open the settings for translation so I can add Spanish captions? I'm a native speaker and would like my friends to see your videos, we all are about to swap headphones.
His advice is spot-on, although my experience with the HD560s and TYGR 300 is slightly different. But that is really due to personal preference. The reason I use the HD560s now as my main is because the tips of my ears touch the inside cover of the driver of my TYGR 300 (I would say I have about average ears, whatever that may mean :0). He actually mentions this in his 'Wicked Cushion Freeze Pads for Beyerdynamic' review. And with the WC Freeze that (almost) sovles it, check his other video on this. Yes, the HD560s clamp more, but they definitely loosen over time.
Cloud 3 wired or wireless if you got $150 and just want a no BS INSANELY COMFORTABLE headset that you can wear 12 hours a day and depend on. Great battery life and good sound quality. Good mic. Durable. Most games like Valorant are tuned with these headsets in mind so you're not giving anything up to higher end sets unless you wanna spend $500+ MINIMUM. I have owned both these and the Arctic Nova Pro's and I ended up sticking with the Clouds. By far more comfortable, 5x the battery life (hot swappable battery is kind of a gimmick no one can swap it that fast before it dies), way better mic. Simultaneous bluetooth with your phone is the only place where Steel Series wins along with minor sound quality improvements and overall volume.
Joe you're the guy on YT for reviewing headphones. Hands down 🙏 Quick question if I may (or to anyone else) After watching your review recently on Stealth Pros I took the plunge and love the sound but having issues with the boom mic. Sounding distant, tinny and never had the echo problem as much before. Some are suggesting the internal mics are better. Is this true? Was wondering if mines was faulty in some way. Its barely useable coming from what I'm used to with the mid tier TB 700 Gen2s. Mamy thanks
Hello sir. Love your content! I bought the simgot iems, I used to play with Sony pulse and with simgot the sound it's more clear but I can't understand where the steps are coming from they are a bit confusing. I also use your sonar settings for mw3. Am I doing something wrong?
Love this video and thank you so much for the great detail! What's the general opinion of wireless versus wired when it comes to sound quality for fps gaming and acting as a decent headset for music? It seems that with wireless you give up some sound and mic quality for mobility and connectivity convenience but would love to know what you prefer. example: H6Pro and Nova 7 are pretty close in price. Reviews talk highly of both and having hard time deciding what to get because I don't actually know the differences in sound quality between the 2. Unfortunatley, I can't test it out myself because the stores around me do not allow me to returned opened headsets. Any suggestions and help is much appreciated!
Really great video! There's lots of other good stuff out there, but it's impossible to list them all, and you did a nice job of narrowing it down. I think the only other thing I'd have like to seen in the mid level wired is the DT770 Pro (since its a good closed back option). Thanks for including the DACs! If you plan on listening to music or having a little overhead for a harder to drive headphone, I'd recommend a Fiio K7 and an extension cable for your mic if gaming on PC. Lots of power and a balanced output. Probably would work on PS5 also (I know the Zen DAC V2 does). For me it was night and day for the H6Pro closed back with a good amp. I don't like using it on PS5 through the controller because the bass just takes over.
EPOS H6 Pro Closed vs. Shure SRH840A I want to have a balanced approach to gaming and music and enjoy both. After some research, I am stuck between these two products, can you give me feedback? Bass quality is not very important to me, I care more about treble, mids and more importantly frequency response. I live in a noisy area so I have to choose closed or semi-open products. Which one I should chose?
Hey man seems you are good with headphone stuff. Atm i have sb ae-7 and logitech g pro x headset. I just cant turn that to work in FPS games. I dont hear when someone goes behind me or etc. I beleave i should change headphones, witch one you recommend to go for FPS games? Thanks for advice.
Need a replacement for my sundaras and was checking along with this list to see current prices. Edition XS was on sale under $300 when I looked so easy purchase! Looking forward to trying them, thanks for the good breakdown of a variety of products.
So the steelseries nova pro wireless are still the best headset in 2024 ? I'm thorn between the Astro a50x and the Steelseries nova pro wireless cuz i need to plug it like Playstation , Nintendo switch , Pc and phone for music and etc etc
Thanks for the info. You mentioned most of the headsets talking about listening to music as well as gaming... I'm looking for a headset in the $250 range for gaming (footsteps) ONLY, I don't listen to music at my PC... What do you recommend for footsteps in that range? Thank you.
Thanks for the video, Joe; very informative and insightful. Just curious - what headset do you use most often for gaming, and why? And for music listening, same questions. And which headset or iem is optimal for both gaming and music listening?
Hello, i have newbie question. I decide to try IEMs for gaming (mostly FPS: Hunt showdown, some Valorant and RPGs). So i pick the Zero red for overall quality). I am currently using arctis nova 7 (wireless and it by-pass my crap ALC887 as onboard audio), for better sound quality its a overkill to buy soundblaster G6 or FiiO K11 ?. Yes these external audio solutions are 2x the price of these iems, but these products have long lifespan.. So is the difference in gaming / movies much better or its just overkill and will be better to buy some cheap dac /external sound card ?
On the EM6L I've seen people complaining that the ear tips can get stuck in your ear because there's no ridge on the nozzle, have you experienced that?
Recently found your channel and im glad i did! I went from your tb stealth 700 g2 max to this, so i was surprised not to see those in your mid range. I was ready to buy the g2 max, now im not sure haha
I'm very interested in the Antlion Kimura duo because of the sound profile for gaming, specifically Escape from Tarkov, and the included mic. What I want to know is if I will get a better experience if I paired the Kimura mic alone along with another IEM. What would you recommend?
I have the Cloud 3 Wireless and the Maxwells (bought both on day 1). My maxwells have started to fall apart and the strap is coming off, and I also find them a little too fatiguing for all day use. The Cloud 3's are nice, but HyperX broke EQ completely with a firmware update (has not been working for weeks now) and I haven't been able to enjoy the stock sound. I just went ahead and purchased the MG20's since Amazon Canada had them on sale for the equivalent of $250 USD. If I care about sound quality, premium feel and comfort more than anything and don't require any other features, do you think they're the best in class?
Excellent guide ... 1 small addition. For me open back gives the best directional of sound in gaming. I was supprized not to see in your list the best gaming music headset for ~ 100-110 bucks and + 35 bucks for mic. The ultimate duo. Philips fidelio X2HR + V-Moda BoomPro. OMG Build like a tank and comfotable. Soundstage, Bass, treble ... everything under 150 bucks ...
Hey Joe, hope all is well. Thank you for what you do, your a great source of info/knowledge. Been trying some IEM’s but having some issues with fitment(ear canal). Ended up ordering a pair of Sennheiser HD6XX, they arrive tomorrow. I was torn between HD6XX, Harmonicdyne Zeus Elites and Aune AR5000. Will the FIIO K11 power the HD6XX? I wanted the Schiit Magni Unity but giving that PS5 uses UAC1 that is off the table for now and not sure what to do. The Hel+ is an option but I saw a Q&A with the owner of Schiit and he mentioned they’re working on a new version of the Hel, no date yet. Plus trying to keep it in some sort of budget 😅. Keep it up. God bless.
Get the FiiO K11, its an amazing Dac/amp It powers my Sennheiser 490 Pro beautifully. Got it on low gain, and still gets super loud. Even louder on Mid gain.
I have the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. It's a great headset for gaming, but it has some considerable issues. The buttons are too flush to the headset, making them hard to press. The hinges don't lock in place, so I'm constantly having to slightly re-adjust the earcups. And the biggest issue is that the volume wheel is seriously imprecise. On pc, I just max them out, and control volume with my keyboard. I rarely bother to use them with my phone.

Hi man, great content! I have a question, how do you connect your IEM to the FiiO DAC, some of them have 3.5mm jack and the DAC have 4.4mm and 6.4mm ports
This has to be one of the best audio gear suggestion video
Covers everything from bottom to top
Really appreciate your efforts
Thanks!
I basically need transparency in my environment, so this has been an amazing feature for me.
this man has every head phone or head set in the game salute'''''''
Keeping it concise and drops a 43 minutes video haha. Love to see it! Thanks for the video!😁
lol. I love telling my wife I’m making a 20 min vid and she knows that means an hour of filming
As the best friend of Joey since we were 6 years old, I can confirm this WAS concise... LMAO!
As someone who owns the turtlebeach stealth pros, sony pulse elite, and maxwells and I play competitive shooters, here's what I said to another poster here:
The maxwells aren't great for imaging/FPS.
Hi. Which headphones do you recommend to hear footsteps? Example: Logitech G X2 Lightspeed, Astro 40TR 2019, DT1990Pro or other headphones?
Can’t agree with you enough also to note the Maxwell do weigh an absolute ton very fatiguing during long sessions
Become a pro gamer with crappy $50 headset then buy a $500 headset, got it
I bought 50 $ stinger2s cause I needed something for my brother and I ended up taking the 50$ set over my 200$ turtle beach’s lmao
I use 5 year old Astro a20s lol and they suck so bad now since they’ve caught on fire twice or well almost they started smoking

Hell yeah! I have many Antlion products in my studio and use them all the time! My beyerdynamic TYGR 300R has the ModMic mount on it :)
Bro I thought u were cool already, but then u pulled out a carbon fiber case for IEMS. This man is living his best live
I just replaced my HD800S and must give a STRONG warning against it:
1. the size adjustment is not strong enough.
Im literally in a headphone binge right now and found my old sennheiser HD555's and now I want to compare them to my stealth pros...
Knocked it out of the park as usual Joe! Thanks for all of your awesome videos and hard work!
Great video Joey! Always with the best information!
Scott Herman on this video is so random but I love it lol

Can you try tuning them?Id like to see if that could fix the lack of bass.
I've stayed away from wired for years, but I'm feeling like going with the 490 Pro and a K11 DAC to get some good sound quality. Thanks for the great video again man.
Im thinking about buying same setup you think it would be good for ps5 aswell? if u have the setup already tell me if its worth it?
Glad to see the GC7 get a shoutout. I don’t see a lot about it, even since the price dropped (it was like 180 when I bought it).
The sound quality is solid, the controls as you mentioned are second to none without breaking a switchboard and Bluetooth/app controls make it amazing for use on Linux where native software can be limited.
hands down my favorite headphone channel. thank you for all that you do
Thanks so much!
He nails it examples jt1s and h6pro openbacks the man doesn't sell lies and g6 amp and filo k11 again he nailed everything about them
Every once in a while I keep coming back for your reviews and guides. And Every time it's top notch content. Tysm!
warning, Audeze Maxwell has a lot of problems the right ear on my Maxwell died twice and people have experienced also some problems it is an amazing headset but with its own problems. amazing video. thank you
Still rocking the KSC75s on PS5 their definitely great for competive gaming been using them on Warzone, Rebirth Ranked play and MW3 Ranked play really good and affordable recommended! Thanks for mentioning them Tech you the man!
Nice! Sometimes I just use the KSC75 when I want my ears to breath
you seem very sympathic, based and focused on waht really matters. i like your calm not overacted voice and the varity you chosed for your comparison.
Somebody give this man an award!!!
Which one is better for COD: Headphones or IEMs?
Went with a VZR Model one based off a previous review you did, it’s amazing. Paired it with a Schiit Stack and wow. Just wow. I hear everything.
STILL BRO you STILL blow me away with how good your reviews are. Id love to work with OR game with you one day. 🔥
Thank you for the DD and effort.
for ps5, which one would you choose, doubt between, pulse elite, Corsair hs80, JBL Quantum 610??

Got the Nova 7 base on your review. Happy to see it on top of mid level list! Thanks for the great reviews.
I used the HE1000SE for such a long time with gaming as well! It's so perfectly overkill, I can see why you enjoy it so much
This is the most perfect video I've ever seen.
You’re my final reason that convinced me to choose the Logitech Astro
Thanks for the video!
is it still worth picking up the Audio-Technica ATH-G1WL or should i just grab one of the other high end wireless options?
The hype is real, more excited for your videos than for any Netflix series 👌🏻
Daaang, there are some awesome shows on Netflix haha!
G6 7.1 35% and a jt1 fio headphone thank me

Great video! I'd also love to seem one along the same lines for speakers. It a part of gaming audio that is often ignored.
Thanks! Keep your eyes on the channel! I have something fun planned soon that involves speakers and gaming!
@@GadgetryTech I look forward to it!
I don't have a lot of experience with almost all of these heasdsets, but I can say that I ordered the Audeze Maxwells and have had nothing but issues with it. The sound quality, when it works, is incredible. But problems pop up so frequently that I couldn't recommend it to anyone. Trying to go through support to get a refund on mine.
did the support team resolve your issue? what was the outcome?

@GadgeTryTech
I’m looking for the best multi platform headset for gaming primarily on the Xbox series x and PS5.
TIA.
In terms of sound, do u think iems or headphones are better in general? Would like to know your opinion
This is almost impossible with custom sets, so you really have to love the tuning beforehand
Also I believe most hearing aids nowadays are wireless and battery powered, so they're not designed to last 5-10 years (the mic and wireless tech improves massively by then anyway)
The budget is too different
I agree good custom moulded IEMs would be much better for comfort, which is important.
Joe what’s your most used favorite headphones? Thanks for all the hard work. You have the best channel for gaming audio.
Love the video! I currently use IEMs, but are there any with really good sound imaging. The imaging that i get from mine are just okay.
Really great video, congratulations!
One question, what do you think about the Audio-Technica ATH-R70x?
On of the best gaming Headphones Out there
What's the best value wireless headset for PlayStation and PC only?
Joe you're the guy on YT for reviewing headphones. Hands down 🙏 Quick question if I may (or to anyone else)
After watching your review recently on Stealth Pros I took the plunge and love the sound but having issues with the boom mic.
Thanks so much for all your helpful videos. Now that you've reviewed the atlas air, where do you think it would slot in?
Shure SRH840A
I want to have a balanced approach to gaming and music and enjoy both. After some research, I am stuck between these two products, can you give me feedback? Bass quality is not very important to me, I care more about treble, mids and more importantly frequency response. I live in a noisy area so I have to choose closed or semi-open products.
Which one I should chose?
What about the MMX200 from beyerdynamics?
My favorite channel released a new video. I read the title and liked instantly. I became a "fangrill".... great...
So how is it going?
@@mysentl24ep54obsessed, the edition XS are best headphones I have ever owned
So the steelseries nova pro wireless are still the best headset in 2024 ? I'm thorn between the Astro a50x and the Steelseries nova pro wireless cuz i need to plug it like Playstation , Nintendo switch , Pc and phone for music and etc etc
Thanks for the info. You mentioned most of the headsets talking about listening to music as well as gaming... I'm looking for a headset in the $250 range for gaming (footsteps) ONLY, I don't listen to music at my PC... What do you recommend for footsteps in that range? Thank you.
what do you guys recommend for specifically noise cancelling and noise isolating gaming headphones?
Thank you for introducing the various headsets!
On the EM6L I've seen people complaining that the ear tips can get stuck in your ear because there's no ridge on the nozzle, have you experienced that?
Thank you for the breakdown and including wired and wireless ur goated bruther ☝🏼🦅
Recently found your channel and im glad i did! I went from your tb stealth 700 g2 max to this, so i was surprised not to see those in your mid range. I was ready to buy the g2 max, now im not sure haha
Just here to leave a like! Bought the Pulse Elite and did a custom EQ with APO for competitive gaming based on your recommendations.
Hey, did you faced with disconnection?
@@v014nd Actually no, the connection is very stable. I will only get a disconnect if I leave the room, and establish it again if I'm going back in.
Great video! What are your thoughts about the GSX 1000 and the Mix Amp Pro in 2024?
Hey I’ve heard a lot of people recommend the dt 990pro, what would you think is better for fps game, dt990p or the hd 560s?
Keep it up. God bless.
Get the FiiO K11, its an amazing Dac/amp
It powers my Sennheiser 490 Pro beautifully. Got it on low gain, and still gets super loud. Even louder on Mid gain.
@RobViguurs thank you. I appreciate the info. It helps a lot.
Not in the market for a headset but looking forward to your review on the new TB Atlas Air when they come out. Presuming you'll be covering them?
100%
What do you think is the overall best iem?
joe u have to try the hd800s with the astro mix amp put it on stereo mode and put the pre set on the last one going down try it they sound great with the mix amp i don't no why but they just do and the lcd gx also ''' i have the mix amp connected with optical cable to the back of the tv and the usb in the front to the mix amp try playing call of duty like that and watch a movie with that same set up tell me what u think''' i dont like the hd800s with the hel 2 by the way''' i use the gx with the hel 2+
I was leaning towards Focal Clears - Thoughts?
Hi man, great content! I have a question, how do you connect your IEM to the FiiO DAC, some of them have 3.5mm jack and the DAC have 4.4mm and 6.4mm ports
What an amazing video man! Keep up the awesome work.
