- In this video I show you how I add a thumb gusset while I'm knitting in the round, using the magic-loop-method.
I love knitting the thumb gusset like this, so it's completed all at once... I don't like going back to pick up stitches later.

Thank you so much for this video. I finally learned how to knit the thumb gusset! Very helpful! :)
Yay! They're not so scary, huh!?
So helpful 😀 very clear instructions! Thank you 💐
I'm so glad you found it helpful! :) Thank you!
This is brilliant! Thank you so much. So nice and clear and straight forward.
Aw, you're very welcome! I'm so glad you like it. I hope you're staying warm. :)
Thank you ! Always clear ! ♥
Love this!!! Thank you so much ❤️️
Thank you and you're very welcome! I had a hard time wrapping my head around how a thumb gusset works, but once I got it figured out it was so easy :) I hope you're on your way to knitting lots of gloves :)
WOW, thanks so much for this!! I'm making the Purl Soho Stockinette Hand Warmers and I'm stuck at the Thumb Hole, because the pattern is for dpn's. I only know how to knit in magic loop :p Excited to try this! Hope I don't botch it.
I knitted a pair of fingerless gloves but just real basic. I have also crochet a few but also basic and they came out ok. But, I'm getting more serious with this craft and will be taken another go at doing gloves. I really enjoy your technique for the thumb area and will be practicing. Thank you for sharing another wonderful video. Respectfully, Donna
You're very welcome!
Excellent!
Ahhhhhh, now I get it! Thanks!!
You're very welcome Anna 🙌
Thank you so much! I was looking for a way to just create little arm holes for this doll sweater I was knitting in the round and having the darndest time figuring it out.
:) You're very welcome!
Omg thank you for this!!!!!
Hi Olivia! You're very welcome!!
@@Bromefields hi! I’m very new to knitting so sorry if this is a stupid question. If I want my thumb a little longer, do I just knit a few more rounds, than bind off the thumb?
@@OliviaAlexandra27 Sorry, I'm just seeing this. Yes, you're correct, just knit a few more round and then BO the thumb. ;)
Can you show us how to make a heal for a pair of socks. I love the way you did this. So simple and easy to do. Thank you so much.
Vikki... You just made me laugh out loud! Heels of socks scare me! I have been trying to find or create an easy way to make a heel for a sock using something like this and I haven't been successful :( As soon as I find something I'll definitely share it :) Thank you so much! I'm glad that you love this :)
W😳W, any advice on gloves? Do you recommend a 3 needle bind off between each finger?
Hi, Do you have a written pattern? Great video, thank you -(I am a very beginner when it comes to mittens-)
I don't have any mittens, but I do have some fingerless gloves here: hawww.bromefields.com/product-category/knitting-patterns/gloves/ and a free one here: www.bromefields.com/product/wholehearted-fingerless-gloves-knitting-pattern/ Happy knitting! Jennifer
😊
Can this be used for any pattern? But arranged for our own pattern?
Yes, yes it can 😁
Hi, Do you have a video of how to knit fingerless gloves using circular needles with/without magic loop ?
I don't have a full video for the fingerless gloves, just the thumb gusset.
You can view the free written pattern here: www.bromefields.com/product/wholehearted-fingerless-gloves-knitting-pattern/
Thank you for this tutorial! I was getting confused on the knit rounds. Other tutorials say knit 2 rounds, but it looks like you don’t knit across the stitch markers twice, just once. Is that right?
Hi Jessica, I've noticed a 2 rounds when using a thinner yarn, but with this super bulky yarn it would add too much length. There are so many ways to knit things and get similar results, I suggest trying it different ways and see which one you like best. With knitting, there really isn't a wrong way if it works for you ;)
@@Bromefields Thanks! I’ll do that 😊
What if you wanted to make the thumb gusset longer? What would you do?
Once I got to the width I'd like the thumb to be I would slip the thumb stitches onto a scrap piece of yarn, finish the glove and then go back and finish the thumb. :)
