    THANK YOU for such a clear demonstration of how to pick up and join the thumb stitches. I have looked at many videos on this and yours is the best by far. I finally understand how to do this technique ! You are so kind to share your knowledge with other knitters

    This was clear, especially with your attention to the need for close ups, and no nonsense. Thank you!

    This series on fingerless mitts offers the most straightforward instruction I have seen yet. The pace of your directions is perfectly synchronized with what you’re demonstrating. I never find myself thinking “please, please, just get on with what I’m here to learn.” And the calm manner in which those directions are delivered is also a big help.

    Your teaching for the thumb is the only time I have been able to complete it without any holes AT ALL in 12years of knitting. I can't thank you enough!!

    You're right, this was super intimidating, but I did it right along with you at the same time and all of a sudden I'm knitting my thumb in the round and it wasn't that bad at all! Lol. Thank you!!!

    Thank you so much for this video. I have been knitting mittens for a couple months now and was never satisfied with the thumb area. Your video was the first one that I found to be clear and concise and it turned out perfect on my first try! And, it was so easy!!

    This worked great! I just started knitting mittens and have tried 8 or 9 other methods I found on the Web to prevent thumb holes and none worked for me. This worked like a charm the very first try. No holes!! I was easily able to convert your method to work on Magic Loop. Thank you!

    Ellen, those are beautiful, I need a tutorial on the thumb. So excited to follow your instructions. Do you have a tutorial showing how you knit the the entire thumb - whether you used a provisional cast on. I struggle there

      Hi Deb. Check out the Butterfly Kisses KAL playlist on my channel, th-cam.com/play/PLtxtV4XDEZX0kptr4mz89dwLALhcUNPLs.html. It contains all of the tutorial videos related to this pattern.

    Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I'm confused how to accomplish this with Magic Loop. After attaching the yarn by adding the extra stitch on the back needle, which needle do I use to pick up the stitches between the two needles? Thank you!

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know that there's one singular "right" answer. I think you could probably place the picked up gap stitches on either needle as long as your stitches are divided somewhat evenly so they move smoothly on your needles/cord.

    Thank you for clear instructions and video. Curious to know what Mitt Pattern that is. It's lovely

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pattern is called Butterfly Kisses and I believe there's a link to it in the video description. If not, you can find the pattern on my website, shop.thechillydog.com.

    Thank you but the pattern I have is telling me to pick up 7 stitches along the top of the thumb. Which 7 do I pick up? Do I just continue horizontally past the 2 you did?

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without being familiar with the pattern you are using, I can't say for certain, but usually the stitches around the outer portion of the thumb are held on waste yarn and then returned to your needles and stitches are picked up horizontally from the side of the glove that's next to your index finger.

    How would you do this on magic loop. I have too many stitches on the right hand needle. Help

    • @thechillydog
      @thechillydog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would try dividing the thumb stitches in half for magic loop.
