- I surveyed multiple Porsche dealerships and found the average cost of having a Cayman's oil changed was around $450! Do it yourself in under an hour for about $50 and pocket the $400 difference. Even if you have to buy every tool I use in this video, including a floor jack, you'll only spend about half of the dealer price on that first oil change. After that ... $400 ... every ... single ... time ...

As a new owner of a 987.2 your channel is an absolute wealth of knowledge. Thanks!
Thank you Cliff, you convinced me to do this in my garage to my 987.2 Boxster
I'm getting my first porche ever thank you for putting everything in the description
Hi Cliff, great videos. I feel like I should correct you that the Cayman, all caymans actually, with the rare exception of the GT4 RS are wetsump oiling systems. Not drysumped with a remote reservoir. The "integrated dry sump" they advertise is a complete misnomer and it is just a simple wetsump.
As someone who owns a 987.2 Cayman S I can't thank you enough for putting out these high quality and very informative videos. Do you have any plans to do any PDK service videos? Keep up the good work!
I've not had the opportunity to do any service on a PDK. I *have* been looking at unofficial resources on how to repair a broken PDK, but I certainly hope I never actually need that. And yes, they *can* be repaired by a competent DIY mechanic, despite Porsche's insistence that they can only be replaced ...
Thank you for the video
Thanks Cliff! One question, should the oil be up to temperature or cold when draining?
One thing you might like is the LN Engineering spin-on filter adapter kit for doing oil changes.
I looked at that but I just don't know about spending $135 for it.
I bought one for 987.2 and something is wrong with the threads, it doesn't go all the way up, so I am still on my canister...
Plenty of people are saying 0w 40 causes bore scoring.
Not sure where these "plenty" of people are. I've never, ever heard this.
or you can put the car up on four jackstands...
Yeah, I cover that in my "Fact or Fiction" video that I referenced.
