Passed by my local Toyota dealer today and there’s a lot of them on the lot. Combination of things I think. Price is ridiculous dealer adding thousands as market adjustment and the turbo engine. The price is insane.
Reminds of the old commercial where they slapped themselves on the head and said I coulda had a V8. You can keep those twin turbos, nothing but trouble
@@deanrotering879 Turbo Diesels yes. time will tell with the gas turbos plus you wouldn't need them if they used the V8. I see their quality going down, Tundra problems and Tacoma issues, do not bode well. If the GX550 proves itself over the next 4 or 5 years, I will buy one but right now I am keeping my GX460
@@jamesvirga9496 the federal government is forcing automakers to do this or Toyota would not have changed it. I don’t blame the automakers (any of them) for this.
@jamesvirga9496 yes, but these gx550s are built in japan. Better parts, quality. Tacoma I didn't see any turbo issues yet ? Where did you see that?. The tundra I know has issues. Yeah I don't trust turbos ....but I would trust a Lexus turbo over any other. Oh and the nissan gtr is a great twin turbo
@@antoniocognato5023 I will give this a few years to see. I bought a 2023 GX for the V8 and Lexus should let Toyota take the the brunt of the Government BS and keep the V8. If it proves reliable after 4 or 5 years I will probably buy one. Except, I really feel the styling is all Toyota, it lost the GX Mystique. I mean they had to spell out Lexus on the back so you don't mistake it for a Toyota. My initial feelings, time will tell. The Tacoma issues I am referring to is the the overall quality of the Mexico built units. It is the same as a Silverado now, built in Mexico.
It’s definitely lost some of it’s mystique with this update. It is a better vehicle in the modern sense, but it is also lesser in intrinsic value than the 460.

Toyota has been running turbos for a couple of decades. They won’t be a problem.
