In this comparison, the Sequoia does seem to offer more for the same money. But over the term of ownership, the GX will retain higher resale, will have a better dealer experience, and although 95% will never go, it is far superior offroad. It still strikes me as odd that the Sequoia is so large on the outside, but small inside compared to its true competition of the Tahoe/Expedition/Wagoneer.
Agree 100%. I test drove a sequoia TRD pro recently and was pretty disappointed with materials and NVH. I guess I’m spoiled from owning a new Navigator and new RX500, but I’m definitely holding out for the gx550.
@@grisa12345 haha speaking of the Sequoia TRD pro, I finally saw one that had the TRD roof rack. I saw 2 so far in total ever and both were in white, but the first time, the owner opted to take away the roof rack to get a pano roof
The deal killer for the Sequoia is the third-row seats that don't fold flat so the extra space is a waste. Try putting your dog in it with that shelf and gaps. You are definitely correct on the dealer experience, especially in service. However, some Lexus dealerships are drifting away from a great purchasing experience with a dealership last month refusing to sell me a LX600 unless I financed it. I want a Toyota in a couple models, but after going into the dealership and trying to purchase, I have to leave and go take a shower. Finally, I trust the mechanics at Lexus much more with issues of wrong oil filters, etc at Toyota dealerships.

I've seen the sequoia on the road, and it looks really good, especially in white. I haven't seen the lexus in person yet, but that sequoia looks awesome. To bad that it's so expensive.
I have a sequoia and the space inside is great cooled seats and in some models heated seats so so many features a hitch and around 400 horsepower and incredible storage. in all if you are looking for a off road car get a 4Runner BUT if you are gonna use this on the road/gravel roads it’s great!
I so wanted a Sequoia till they showed it off with that horrible back cargo area with the uneven floor. The stupid placement of the batteries which doesnt allow you to move the second row seats. Both of which you failed to mention. And the fact its basically a turndra from the second row forward. Not to mention that the sequoia has been a pain to find so most dealers are overcharging for them...up into the 100k range. So now with the 2 row version of the Gx having much better room, no batteries to deal with long term, and a much more modern and unique look....ill be going GX.
Good review but one thing you didn’t show was the folding third seats. I know this to be the case with the TRD and I believe with the Capstone as well, the third row doesn’t fold flat. Which means you don’t get the extra cargo space. This is a deal breaker for me on the Sequoia, partially because it’s so annoying to not have that extra space. This is worth 5 points easily to me in your scoring system.
I love my Sequoia. It’s perfect with my two small kids. And it’s fast off the line. I can’t help but gun it all the time. I’m doing 0-60 in the mid 5s. Kills my MPG 😂
The GX is an all round great car. Sequoia's bigger space is not well utilized. You can't move the second row seat back and forth, which is kinda a big deal. However, the fact that it has a better fuel economy and acceleration than the Lexus, it still makes it a great choice.
The GX is better than any other Toyota and Lexus SUV right now. It is a complete package and well put together for both offroad, refinement, ruggedness, shopping, picking up kids from school and overlanding. The next is the new Land Cruiser
Roominess, daily tasks driving: Toyota Sequoia Class, Luxury & off-road prowess: Lexus GX550. Personally I’d prefer the Lexus, it’s more desirable especially if it is for personal ride, but happy with either one.

@@FoundationLeatherCo. I grew up in Africa and we had land cruisers and Land Rovers for off-roading. A very comfortable interior with leather was always a plus. I especially liked the leather interior of the Land Rovers which Land Cruiser has caught up on. GX 550 PREMIUM base model for 64k seems to be the best value of the 2. You still get leather type interior where as the Sequia at that price is a basic SR5 with cloth seats. Also, the sequia at the GX base price is just 2wd. That being said, I still like our 2022 Duramax diesel suburban better for road trips.

My current supercharged Tundra weighs less, has better mpg than GX. By adding a good aftermarket amplifier or two, the Toyota can easily match GX sound for less. Exactly. The 2025 Tahoe will blow away the Sequoia on every metric.
The Acadia would be more comparable to the Lexus TX.
Keep shouting from the ramparts about GM cars but no one cares or covets. Toyota products sells whatever they make off the lots.
TRD PRO is BEAST!!!!
Toyota all the way. Reliability and Resale value wise. I have 2 Toyota cars 🙂
Does gx550 luxury have child car seat latch on 3rd row?
Very good video. Clearly the Toyota is the better buy.
Thank you!
The Seqpoia is just a bus for Soccer mommies
Please compare Lexus GX with Defender 90
Yeah either one ☝️ of these suvs you can only buy one ☝️ of them
A LOADED Tahoe at 12k less, should be "your goal" - Better ride, better overall selection more amenities, 8k towing capacity better looking. DONE>
GX550
I’m pretty sure the GX shares the Land Cruiser platform not the tundra/sequoia platform.
All of them are actually on the same platform (TNGA-F)
@@CarConfections just read up on this new change… seems interesting.
Lexus all day long!! Not even close on the fit and finish 😅
I'll take the 2024 Nissan Armada because of the naturally aspirated 5.6 V8 engine.I keep cars usually 😮 past the warrenty. Otherwise I liked the Chevy Tahoe V8. But with the fuel management GM v8 engines (cylinder deactivation) l wouldn't to own one past the warranty either.
What's worse? Toyota twin turbocharger or Gm cylinder deactivation?
I'll appreciate any recommendations.

Is it me, or does the Sequoia exterior look so much better looking?
Premium gas vs regular unleaded
Sequoia: bigger, stronger, faster, fuel efficient, sunroof, towing.
at what speed does it switch to gas mode
Anywhere under 18 MPH depending on load
You didn't show all of the trunk space with the seats folded down
Honestly sequoia not worth it now that we have tx and grand highlander. The gh and tx are bigger and are cheaper the only good thing reallt about the sequoia is the power train and a bit better tech
And the towing capability since it still tows 500 lbs more than the updated GX numbers
Between these two I would take the Sequoia
I have the Sequoia
SEQUOIA 10.5
GX550 3.5. I’m going with the SEQUOIA route and I’m a 50 50 for the GX550 from LEXUS
