      Part of the reason why you didn't understand much of what the Bulgarian guy said is because of his pronunciation. I'm Bulgarian so understood him perfectly, but he was using too many colloquial words and didn't make an effort to speak clearly. I'm not saying Bulgarian would be easy for you to understand, but if it was spoken properly, you would probably understand more.

      Yeah, Andrej used a lot of older archaic-ish words (or at least words that are being less frequently used) in Croatian that some slavic languages still use. For example, stablo / drvo, vrata / dveri (pretty sure that dveri is actually archaic, I've heard no one use that like ever). Also he spoke very slowly which is also a nice effort to make people understand you

      Did you hear Serbian as it sounds? And do you know it's 90% similar to Sanskrit? Sorry but your comment sounds so pointless. Because you do not know that the whole of Europe is from London to Spain, to the South to the Greek Italy.And to the East to the Asia of China, one language was spoken, including Sanskrit India. It was Serbian . Hence the saying " Spoke the Serbian so that the whole world understands you!"
      But slowly, in two years you will be taught the true history of the world. The English admitted that London was the Serbian City, the Thames the Serbian River. Like the rest of Europe, Berlin was Brljin. And they will have to admit it all publicly. Because they found Serbian graves across the UK, and Spain, 3200 years old. As much as the Serbs held the Olympus. You will be surprised to hear that the ancient Greeks did not even exist, as did Carlo the Grate.

That aside, I meant that it’s pretty hard for me to understand western Slavic languages in written form. I know fluently only two languages: English and Russian, and when I see Roman letters in a word my brain reads them the English way. For example the letter “J”. In eng it’s pronounced like “j” in “jump” and in Slavic like “y” in “yes”, so it had messed with my brain for a while.

      1.He used a lot of diminutives ("fishy" instead of fish, "birdy" instead of bird and also the diminutives for "person" and "eggs")
      2.When he describes the photo he switches between present simple tense and a form of the past tense, that we bulgarians use for telling stories
      3.He added phrases like "you see?you get what I am sayin'?" and "there's a bird in the lake, you could even call it a goose"

    I am Bulgarian and I understood everything from the conversation. I have the feeling that Michal speaks some form of Old Slavic language that is equally understandable in all Slavic languages. Keep in mind that Pavel speaks Bulgarian a little in an Eastern dialect that is not particularly understood by Croats and Serbs. Congratulations for the video!

      I wouldn't say he speaks in dialect at all. But he does speak too casually, underpronouncing some words. If they invited me, I would understand every single word, because I speak Bulgarian, Russian and I also know some Serbian. But I guess this is not the point. Regards from Sofia

      That's why Interslavic was invented, lol. To let all Slavs communicate without having to learn like 9 languages.
      But yeah, in history, Slavs were the same people. Kind of like if you'd unite all Slavs into one country today. So obviously, they used the same language, so I see what you're going for.

      As Slovenian I can understand almost everything in fact some of the sentences are written in pure slovenian
      like first sentence 2:26 I wrote all sentences for 1st picture in Slovenian as comparison
      - Vidite fotografije
      - Dobro
      - Na tej fotografiji je eden človek
      - Na tej fotografiji /so drevesa - plural/ je drevo-single
      - Je veliko dreves (plural)
      - Na tej fotografiji je voda
      - Je jezero
      - Da je voda

      As a Bulgarian, I agree there was something off about the way Pavel speaks, whether too soft or too casual, maybe both. So he might be a bit harder to understand that a more literary Bulgarian speaker who pronounces slowly and clearly. Still, Interslavic was very easy to understand . I know a bit of Czech and Russian, and I've studied in the Czech Republic so that definitely helps - after a couple of weeks, people from various Slavic-speaking countries start to understand each other to a degree even in their own languages.

      @@limboprime4008 I have no idea, I'm Russian, familiar with Church Slavonic, some Ukrainian and Belorussian dialects, have a Polish friend. The interslavic syntax is almost identical to Russian, and all the words are practically Russian, except for some archaic verbs that are typically dropped from modern Russian sentence, like "ima", "imam" which has no practical meaning and just are used to tie the words together. Russian is a very exact and logical language.

    • @SuperAndrey152
      @SuperAndrey152 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      18th century Russian is not much different from the modern one. You've probably meant 14-15th centuries language, which is much harder to read.

    • @arina_ascorbina
      @arina_ascorbina 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it's not difficult at all, but literary language used a lot of more older and 'solemn' forms of words, and that's what I meant. And it's just my feeling about interslavic, not an actual or correct comparison. :)

    • @SuperAndrey152
      @SuperAndrey152 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@arina_ascorbina Yeah, I understand what you mean. But my personal feeling about it is that it is rather like this:
      Боян бо вещий, аще кому хотяше песнь творити, то растекашется мысию по древу, серым волком по земли, шизым орлом под облакы. Помняшеть бо речь первых времен усобице
      (XII century, rewriten version probably based on 14-15th century grammar)
      Than this:
      Ныне, чрез сие письмо, припадая к стопам, во-первых, в том прощения со слезами покорнейше прошу, что если я когда-нибудь по неосторожности, с умысла, по глупости, молодости или злости чем-нибудь вас прогневала, благоволили бы, милостивый государь мой батюшка, теперь мне все оное отпустить и послать благословение дочери своей, в печали и разлуке оставшейся; что я величайшим счастием почитать буду.
      (XVII century)

    • @arina_ascorbina
      @arina_ascorbina 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's true! But I understood finally, why for me interslavic is like a mix of Old Church Slavonic/Old East Slavic and more modern Russian - because of grammar. In earlier centuries grammar was much more complicated, especially verb tenses, that's why it's hard to understand. So I had an impression of more modern language, while it's vocabulary indeed looks very old.
