I waited 5 months for my Mach 1, was there when it drove off the truck, and I can tell you, I've never been anything but ecstatic with the money spent. It's unique, it handles brilliantly, accelerates like a brute, yet can be quiet and relaxed at 5 am in the morning when I'm headed to work. People keep wanting to comment about how they can get a 2020 PP2, put a blower on it, and kick the Mach 1's bum for the same amount of money. I don't care. That's not what this car is about. It's about a new and special take on an already special car. It's fantastic.

Does the PP2 have the longevity or durability and exact performance as the Mach 1, it is mentioned that the Mach 1 has all those advantages and more. Heck you can do the same by putting a blower and beating the PP2 if we want an apples to apples comparison, pricing would be the difference. The cheapest PP2 you COULD get is 45k+, while Mach 1 starts at 52k, put a blower on either and the Mach 1 still beats the PP2 in a race overall but for more money, the more expensive track version is of course... more expensive, but at that point the PP2 has no chance of winning and many other cars in that segment will get demolished by it. Really it's about the difference and special model that makes that difference.

I came up with a good reason to buy this over a GT, resale value. People who buy Mustangs will definitely pay a lot more for that Mach One name and appearance package. Ford doesn't keep their Mustang special editions around that long and there is definitely a fanbase for the Mach One specifically, just like the one for the Boss 302.

But the Boss 302 had a pretty steep advancement over the base Mustang along with the Laguna Seca pack it was just a differeny animal.

Pretty crazy how you can drive as hard as you want on the street, as long as you don't get caught, and the car is fully covered. But the moment you go to a place that is specifically made for doing just that, the car's warranty is cancelled.

I believe I remember Thomas saying he was a racing instructor at this track. Not sure if that’s still the case or if I’m remembering incorrectly.
Also has gt350 subframe, alot of small details left out. The transmission is also dependable.
It’s actually the GT500 rear subframe/toe-link. And GT350R suspension (tuned) with all the cooling for the rear-differential, oil and transmission. It’s literally a GT350R 1.5 without the Voodoo.
Loved seeing the trees whizzing by in that first look while driving. James' "so, shut up" was epic too.
Once you get a option a GT with magnaride, performance pack etc, it's only about 4k less than a Mach 1. Plus the Mach 1 has that trans and heated/cooled cloth seats (which is almost enough to sell me on it there).
But there’s still options to add (tech, upgraded seats) to the Mach 1. It’s a huge price jump

The Mach 1 is all GT350 underneath with a GT500 rear subframe. It’s a really special Mustang, shoulders above any GT variant, and in the same company as the GT350R. TH is throwing shade because Ford didn’t allow track racing.
I wanted the 10r80 so I went with a GT that's pretty much fully loaded. Magneride, PP1, etc. Only thing I don't have is Recaro seats, but I wanted the heated and cooled feature. I don't track my car, so for me it made more sense to get a GT.

I test drove one of these mach 1 about two months ago I was very impressed with the performance but the dealer wanted to screw me $10,000 for the privilege of buying one I walked out and never went back.
Dealers have costs to cover and in the current crazy market they are struggling.
Good don’t pay and contribute to this massive mark up over MSRP.

Dealers have extra costs hence why the vehicles are selling at higher prices. It is just economics 101.
So even if Ford could supply a car for cheaper it will have little impact on the lot.

The tremec transmission alone makes this car worth it over the Catastrophy MT-82
It's a crime that one can't option this trans on the regular GT.
the 18+ MT-82 has no issues with it. So that statements not been an issue for 3yrs.

nice second review guys. i bought this car in NZ in the only spec we and a lot of other countries in the world only get and that is the Non -HP version. Aussie reviewers have tested that non-hp car on the track and it gets great reviews. I got the Tremac and it is a great transmission compared to my 2016 Gt getrag. From what I've read the no lift shift is not "bad on the transmission " . the car is actually meant to do this and the ECU doesn't allow the engine to over rev whilst shifting at full throttle. this transmission is the one of the reasons that I got the Mach 1 as opposed to a 2021 GT. also the magnaride and specific chassis and steering is different from the GT. and as you said the Mach 1 tradition and name is worth something. as i won't be tracking mine the 3 coolers are redundant. cheers tom

I would NOT get a GT because of all the complaints about the 6 speed. This Mach 1 makes sense. The Voodoo is great but has sooo many issues, with many being replaced by Ford.
Man the MT-82 is the worst transmission I've ever driven. It's clunky, it breaks, and it just doesn't feel smooth almost EVER in my 2017 GT. My clutch AND slave cylinder both blew up at like 15k miles. The springs in the clutch literally shattered and it's not like I do hard launches often.
When I get my GT I’m getting the 10 Speed, iv heard good things about the transmission and I don’t know how to drive manual so it’s perfect for me lol
@@perrytheplatypus4937 Oh I don't regret getting the manual AT ALL. I didn't REALLY know how to drive manual when I bought it, but I also wasn't an idiot and didn't abuse the clutch. I at least knew how manual transmissions worked and that probably helped a bit. As shitty as the MT-82 tranny is, it's still fun as hell and I would 100% still take the MT-82 and all of its problems over an automatic. Don't let not knowing how to drive manual stop you from getting one, I didn't really know what I was doing and still managed to get it an hour and a half back home from the dealership in one piece lmao. It'll take some practice, but once you figure it out, it becomes second nature. There's no better feeling than downshifting and rev-matching manually (I will never use auto rev-match personally, just not as fun). It never gets old blipping the throttle on a downshift.

The one thing I wish I could have said to Thomas this entire discussion was that you can't really compare the Mach 1 with the PP2, Bullitt, and to a lesser extent, GT350, if you are talking exclusively about new Mustangs. For the 2021 model year, the PP2, Bullitt and GT350 are no longer available. The Mach 1 is meant to replace these three models with a single model. I think the real discussion to be had is its value as a replacement.

Having the Mach 1 on the Extra channel is a flex on all other car review channels and a slight diss to Ford for not allowing to compete with the Type R.
hey guys so I just picked up a blue mach 1 2 days ago with the handling package. I'll tell you what, I drove the fully loaded gt and this car is by far a better by even for about 7k more. thr 315's in the rear poke out just a bit and make the car look so wide and aggressive. I came from a stage 3, 2017 focus st and am in love with this mach 1.

Cool video! I own a GT350, it is running 753 Whp . It is equipped with a vortech supercharger, and many other mods. (I’m not trying to brag btw, I’m trying to spark a car enthusiast conversation. I say this because I previously had a “problem”.)

For me, I'd still have the GT350. As much as I like the Coyote, that Voodoo in the 350 is just one of the best engines ever made. The noise and feel is just in a completely different league.
YES!!! I just cannot get excited about the Mach 1 whereas the GT350 (and the Voodoo engine) just leave me lusting every time I am graced to be in its presence.
Too bad the first like 3yrs the engine was made of glass though but the sound nonetheless is nearly unrivaled

So happy to hear someone finally speaking to how ridiculous the price point is.
Blah blah blah price point. In 5 years the Mach 1 is worth every penny paid for it and possibly more, while any version of any plain GT is worth half or less.
The main thing the Mach 1 has over the GT is the Tremec gearbox for the manual transmission option. Super well built. I'm not sure it's worth Ford's premium, but honestly, Ford's been that way about all of their vehicles for quite some time now.

I've got a 2014 Shelby GT500. It's crazy enough to stay interesting with a factory 662 hp. For daily driving I snagged a 2017 Focus RS. So it's gonna take a hell of a car to convince me to trade in one of those.

So, I just got a 2020 PP2 like 2 months ago, it does have rev match but its missing the tremec the oil cooler and all that! But it was 44k US. used with 1500 miles on it. I think that's 54ish Canadian. It's a steal!

Just bought my 2021 black Mach 1 today in black with tremec 6 speed and handling pack!! Had the choice between a 2020 Gt 500 used and this, the insurance was crazy for the 500. I’m gonna debadge it and pull off the vinyl stripes and hood sticker. Traded my 2018 gen 2 raptor for it. Have a 250 lariat tremor to replace the gen 2, I really love my raptor but time to move on. There is always the gen 3 type r in a year or so.

76,000 is too much for that car considering u can get a slightly used gt350 in the mid to high 50s here in the states
76k Canadian equates to a fair bit less in USD. So it’s not quite as expensive in the states

Downshifting and Rev matching yourself is one of the most enjoyable parts of driving stick: if you have an aftermarket exhaust system than it’s most likely snap, crackle, pop city! Love downshifting my stage 2 STi and rev matching. The pops and bangs are crazy, maybe like 3-5 or 5-8 on average, or sometimes one BANG that sounds like a large firecracker 🧨, and it does it on up shifts sometimes. However, not a fan of over the top tunes that make the car pop and and bang like 20 times on a downshift or just letting off the gas
I agree! Working on mproving your rev matching is fun as well. That down shift BANG tickles my taint cause you never know when it'll appear.

I have a 19 pp1 premium a10 3.55 GT Mustang with the killer gauge package. I added keeping full warrantee F P Bullitt tune which is good for engine and great for a10 and also F P Track Pack suspension package which is in between the pp2 and GT350. I put some slightly wider & shorter Goodyear Supercar 3's on f & r, added diff cooler, x pipe, Schroth harnesses, and Steeda Stop-the-Hop IRS kit
The Car scoots quite nicely on road course tracks and still very streetable! Needs better brake pads and pp2 wheel & tire setup. It makes a great poor man's GT500, a car I wouldn't own/buy - tires don't last long nor does the gas on the track tho Great for a few Fast laps!!! If you like pp2's but wanted a Souped Up a10 here you are and then some. Ford Performance parts kicked this GT up notch Very nicely
For me I'd buy simply because of the Tremec. The getrag in the GT is trash.
Then there's those 19x11's wrapped in 315/30/19's - steam rollers in the back just do it for me.
Question though, was it the camera angle or are the window sills really that high? They looked like they were at the bottom of your ears. I really like to drive with my windows down and I think it would be weird not being able to rest my elbow on the window sill.
I am someone who is genuinely in the market looking to buy a Mustang and I have it down to either to either a GT then super charging it with a Roush supercharger , a used GT350, or a Mach one.. The issue I have with the mock 1 is that there is some mark up on it so I can get a brand new Mustang GT supercharged and under warranty for 5,000 to $8000 less than the Mach 1.

As you stated it does have many improvements that are track focused and Yes it is brilliant at cruising! Would a car that could go to the track and perform yet cruise like a regular Mustang GT be worth the extra money? Please track this car. Love your channel and very interested in your feedback. I absolutely love mine and feel like it was worth every penny and will hold its value better than a GT.
I own this exact car and I freakin love it! It's the press car that Straight Pipes tested and a few others. M2283 is the badge # on my dash. That being said I did not know this when I bought it and I'm really glad I maxed out the warranty on her now. I really enjoy watching you guys but Thomas is obviously negatively biased against Mustangs for whatever reason. I think I know why though. Because it can spank his whip and sounds AMAZING and looks perfect doing it. Yeah the interior isn't the greatest but hey it's just a Mustang eh. Don't be jelly boys just appreciate her for the ass whooping beast she is.😂

Good points about the price but you do get the Tremec, isn’t that the reason to buy this over the GT?
So the Tremec transmission is better than the MT82 on the GT, but they have the same 5.0 Coyote engine. So I kinda wish they would have put the 5.2 crossplank engine (without supercharger) that’s in the Shelby GT500. For a price point above 50K, is that too much to ask?

The Camaro is one hell of a road weapon, but IMHO it achieves that at the expense of everything else. It is ergonomically deficient, it is ugly, it carries less stuff. It so badly needs a new generation, but GM may have cooked its own goose on that front.
There are so many things about that Camaro that MotorTrend didn't mention tho, even the comments above revealed a few that heavily shows some flaws to their statement. Things that the Mustang outshines the Camaro on are funny enough things that people care about more on a daily basis, which is why the Mustang in general sells better too.

@@vomErsten All subjective based on your needs and oppinon/s. If I need to make a Home Depot run I take the appropriate vehicle. If I want to go really fast and not have to worry about stuff breaking like these unfinished mustangs then I take my SS 1LE. And please spare me any replies about not being unfinished. We all know these cars are works in progress that Ford just keeps fixing and charging customers for the engineering and design that should have been done right when the cars were released and billed as "Track Car".

This last weekend I drove from Kansas City to Michigan to purchase my new Mach 1 and drove it back! Around 26 hours of driving in less than 48 hours! If I lived closer to you guys I would let you track this one! :-)

I own a 350R, Mach 1 HP and 21 GT500 CFTP. 76k for a Mach 1 isn’t bad vs 125k for a 350 R and 150k 500. CAD that is.
