    2020 tesla m3 long range owner here. I test drove a model 3 highland version last week. It is an awesome improvement over the legacy m3! Quieter with the acoustic glass, better or more comfortable suspension and ride, overall feel is more solid. The new 16 speaker sound is first class. Yes the interior is basic and getting used to no stocks is something that I didn’t like. But when I consider all the benefits compared to the competition for the value/ price, I return to Tesla every time. And absolutely love FSD v12! Safer car, decent range, fun to drive, no hassle or worries with fast charging network when I need it, and best value in my opinion. OTA updates keep it interesting with new enhancements or features added periodically. Mentioning FSD again which just continues to get better.
    Tesla just dropped the subscription price of FSD from $199/mo to $99/mo in US and Canada. Perhaps it’ll get raised back later but for now a great value. I will certainly buy another Tesla!

    Range anxiety: Most hype however at a Tesla owner for over 3 years, I have had a couple of times it was real. Try driving into a rural region that’s far from any charging. Spend time there on a hot summer day where the car is using its battery to keep the interior temperature down from cooking the electronics. This will use up 3-5% of the battery in itself. Sometimes it’s more than saying you can drive 250 miles at highway speed on a charge if there’s not a charger at the end of that stretch. Today Tesla has put in chargers in those small towns. Not really an issue anymore but there are still several places like this for other people.

    EV's are following the same pattern as in Norway.
    1. EVs is bought as a second car.
    2. High rise in the fossile cars with big batterie sale.
    3. The fossile car owners with big batteries buy an EV as the new car.
    4. The EV sale goes through the roof.
    90% of all car sold in Norway are EV's. 7% are fossile cars with big batteries.

    Or course the charging times are the most important thing and range, if people will or would like to change ICE cars to EVs. Charging times has to be as fast as regular fueling at fuel stations. Therefore the supercharging speed must be well under 10 minutes or Evs must support battery swapping which means the change is always under 5 minutes which is as fast as fueling a ICE car. Also the warranty of battery must be over 20 years.

    • @GDM22
      @GDM22 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Why do I need to charge in 5 minutes if I can charge conveniently from home. CATL have just announced a new LFP battery that will have a 15 year ,1.5 million km warranty, with zero degradation after 500,000kms. Nio have battery swap technology but for most just unnecessary. The average life of an ICE vehicle is around 250,000 to 350,000 kms, so the expectation or need for a 20 year warranty is a bit excessive.

    • @iSot80
      @iSot80 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@GDM22 So your opinion is that all cars in the world are only for home to work - home to supermarket use? Not necessarily true.
      Globally all people are living in houses and not apartments and they have place where charging their Ev.
      Not necessarily true.
      Globally all cars estimate use is just 20 years.
      Not necessarily true.
      If the tech is trusted and battery will offer 1.5 million km for ev, There is no worries if manufacturers will offer at least 20 years warranty for the EV-battery.
      Still charging time have to be as fast like ICE cars if EVs would like to be the number 1 car technology in future.

    • @GDM22
      @GDM22 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@iSot80 Read your comment again, you said people, what you meant to say was many people or a high proportion of people; not all people.

    • @iSot80
      @iSot80 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@GDM22 What I meant was that People in this sentence mean all people in the world. It is pointless to speak about what one or few of some think about EV-charging. We have to think how and which technology EVs could increased globally.
      For this case EV-technology and driving have to be 100% alternative 1:1 compared to ICE cars and fueling process. If it is not, it will not success and petrol engines will stay here for longer time.
      For EVs charging we need different kind of charging methods which are for example supercharging, home charging and battery swapping because there is a lot of use cases and people living different. Still the fastest supercharging will be in future always (or very very long time) slower than swapping the battery.

    Proud Tesla M3P owner here and an Electrical Engineer the last 14 years. Your statement about way more places to charge compared to gas stations is technically correct, but misleading. Yes -- you can charge your Tesla at any place with a vacant 120V-20A outlet, just like your cellphone, but doing that with a 3500lb vehicle isn't always super convenient. Technically, you can knock on anybody's door and ask for an outlet, but who is doing that? If you get in an emergency situation where it's needed, it can take you a while to charge enough in order to get to to the next charging station or your destination. Going Tesla made the transition much-more seamless. Aside from supercharging at a Tesla station, the infrastructure to support convenient, publicly available charging just isn't here yet. The Tesla supercharger network is fantastic and that's why I went with Tesla, but I would never recommend anybody living in the US to go with an EV if they don't have access to charge at home or if they regularly drive long distances in rural areas. I am hopeful that things will change in near future, though.

      Here's something that people can do on trips if they are going somewhere that there are not Tesla chargers available......Look for RV parks in that area.
      More often than not you will find an RV park in out of the way scenic or recreational locations. These are the very places that are underserved by Tesla superchargers.
      Many of these RV parks offer 50amp 240v hookups.
      My advice is to get an app on your cellphone that locates these parks (I use one called "Allstays") and research RV parks in the area you are traveling. Also get a mobile charger that can plug into a NEMA 14-50 plug (which is the standard in the RV industry) and that can be set to pull no more than 40 amps.... so you won't overload the RV park's
      plug. Do a deal with that RV park to rent out a space for a few hours.... or even with one its patrons to use a plug. Should be able to fill up your batteries in just a few hours and you may not need that much to get to the next supercharger.

    BEV drivers don't have range anxiety, once they have settled into driving their EV. This is a story to frighten people off EVs. What you realise is that you never have to drive 600km in one go (and I certainly don't have the bladder for it). After 4 years of owning a Tesla I would never go back to ICE as my primary car, and I have found touring (such as interstate) much more enjoyable in my EV as I am stopping regularly. Driving is fun again.

    • @michaelmcnally2331
      @michaelmcnally2331 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      People won't do 300km non-stop. Am in UK and currently rolling out new warehouse in Glasgow and is 356miles to Glasgow and stopping 3-4 times on that journey however this is an unusual journey for me. Usually more around a 150-200 mile round trip so definitely doable with an EV there and back without having to charge. Usually stop because quite often is M25 and that just drains you so a quick 5 min break which not long enough to charge as don't need anything other then quick out of the car and stretc. don't need coffee or lunch.
      However I am not interested in an EV simply because I live in a first floor flat and parking is the other side of the road in a parking bay. Parking Permits and if in road then fine. So no cable drapsing across pavement. Cannot trapse across the road not to mention that car driving over it going to rip it out of the car or wall. As such no home charging for me. Currently mortgage free and to move from flat to 2 bed semi is £925 a month mortgage when do a mortgage checker. Even paying for current car then the car, fuel, insurance putting money away for servicing then not paying out £925 a month so just doesn't add up. I don't need more then 1 bed flat so would be moving specifically so can home charge,
      Would have to look to charge at a fast charger before heading out which local one is 85p a kwh. other local charger is tesco which is 44p for a 7kw charger but limited to 3 hours and 4-8 to charge so would have to drive out especially to tesco twice to achieve a full charge.
      Fix home charging for me and would have an EV no problem. However nobody seems interested in solving home charging.
      Development of Carbon Neutral efuels makes more sense then resolving home charging for flats etc, especially as based on the census data then the number of people in flats is increasing in numbers as well as a percentage so not a problem that going to go away.
      The EU (mainly due to German Pressure) has signed up to allow ICE cars AFTER the 2035 ban now providing they run on Carbon Neutral efuel. So expect efuel developement to proceed as many people just don't like change and can then continue as do now with ICE but still be as Carbon Neutral as EV out on the road. People for whom EV work then can continue and those that they don't can use efuels and still be carbon neutral.

    Never before?
    "Tesla still maintains an 87% brand retention rate, outperforming two non-electric automakers at 67% with Lexus and 54% at Toyota."
    "The target audience of 1,000 adults was selected using criteria specified by BI to reflect a nationally representative sample of geography and gender. Respondents qualified if they were planning to buy or lease a brand new car in the next year. The survey’s confidence interval is 99% and margin of error 5%."
    So it can be, that Tesla's retention rate has dropped 5%, but that they could not catch it. Also, this means that only 3.7% of Americans consider buying a Tesla.
    Anyways, 87% is a respectful number.
