    In theory, Tesla could come to an arrangement with any of the 5 or 6 million Tesla car owners with FSD capability to rent out their cars when not in use for a shared income. Between that, and the ability to feed back to the grid, Tesla owners might have quite a few options open to them to earn some money from their vehicles. At 65 believe it or not I remember a time as a child in the sixties in my little town here in the west of Ireland when it was all Ford Prefects (one colour only, black) and donkeys and carts. So glad to have lived to see the extraordinary changes that have happened only in the last five to ten years, and the pace of that change is increasing rapidly. These are indeed exciting times and I can only imagine the advances that just the next five years will bring. Add to that the benefits for all of us with a cleaner, quieter and more sustainable world that future generations can, and will enjoy. People like yourself are helping us all to understand that in simple and honest terms. Long may you continue. 😊😊

    IMO, m/l China will be a challenge. Their driving norms are quite different to other places - for example, at junctions, traffic turns in front of oncoming traffic, rather than giving way. It's very different.

      So what? If humans can learn, computer can copy local behaviour.
      Jeez, Tesla even learned to not roll through STOP signs.
      Took a bit of effort, but it’s a NHTSA darling now.

    • @scifithoughts3611
      @scifithoughts3611 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He’s right though. China and India (even more so) will be a challenge. So those machines will either have their training fine-tuned or the emergent behavior is that the driving patterns normalize to what’s expected because a bunch more cars are going to follow the laws more closely.

      @davidmaxwaterman FSD is trained using local video footage of people driving (ie there will be multiple FSD versions to suit different regions/countries) so it will pick up all their mannerisms (good and bad) automatically. As was mentioned above FSD in the US/Canada had to be adjusted because it was found 98% of people were breaking the law by not coming to a full stop at stop signs. FSD picked up their bad half-stopping habits and made it a rule. This rule had to be undone. Tesla's QA involves making sure the driving mannerisms seen by the AI are still following road rules.

    • @iandavies4853
      @iandavies4853 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@someuser7501 you are correct, but I wonder if "wisdom of the crowd" will eventually overrule that of bureaucracy?
      FSD can see everywhere at once, speed of re-calculation improving rapidly.
      Many stop signs are obsequiousness to safety gods, are over-cautious.
      Australia has plague of small round-abouts. The rules are religiously ignored, would now be risky to try to enforce.
      Asia often uses pressure of numbers, 20 motorbikes can over-rule a car, but not a truck.
      Flooding a city with robotaxis will change the dynamics, the norm. Esp if they look like a tank. ;-)

    • @brownbrown3882
      @brownbrown3882 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      China already has lots of public buses tha use fsd. Admittedly they run on designated bus routes in major cities, but they have them and have been running for years. The main issue is for the government to have a practical regulatory system in place for allowing full fsd insurance and to cover corporate liability for deaths. Once the regulations are in place then Fsd will take off very fast, like seat belts and electric windows etc. China could have regional or city rules, where regions or cities are approved for fsd and some area of the country are not approved until those region meet certain requirements. One thing I don’t understand about Tesla fsd, is why people pay for it when it is not fsd. I would o ly pay for fsd if it was true fsd, where my insurance would cover the car driving a child by themselves, no driver.

      @robertbidochon7949 this has been a topic of discussion. The US was able to go from urbanization to suburbanization in the 1950s due to far cheaper gasoline prices compared to other countries. Other countries high gasoline prices led to their increased urbanization. Now with EVs possibly leveling the playing field will other countries suddenly do the same reverse the US did and see the same rise of suburbanization.

    If it needs any laws to be changed and approved it’s still a long way to go. At its absolute earliest it could be approved from January. But that’s highly unlikely. Laws are uselessly approved after long bureaucratic process, then voted on and then it gets implemented. Implementation uselessly happens in January and Juli in Sweden.
    The official from Transportstyrelsen don’t have the power to approve anything if it needs to change any laws.
    I could be wrong, but if the government are going to approve it it’s highly unlikely to see it applied before July 2025 or January 2026. That’s about how fast it moves at best in Sweden. And that’s pretty much only if it’s a priority.
    Of no charge in any laws are needed it can move faster.

    I think the number one cost of Uber is the vehicle. If you are using an EV charged at home on solar the next cost will be the insurance. The driver is zero cost but will keep the profits. Public transport is the future. Take vehicles off the roads which will be safer.

      No, the number one cost is the driver. A driverless Uber would make about 25,000 per year driving 30 hours a week. That would be enough to pay the cost of the car, electricity and insurance in less than two years. @@brendanpells912 Thanks. I found a relevant article on The Register. This issue seems to date back to December 2023. I am not a lawyer, but my understanding (from what I read the on the always reliable Internet:-) is that before a case goes to trial, each side will claim "we deserve to win because [list of arguments]" and they may only need one of the listed arguments to be convincing to win, but they cannot introduce new arguments part-way through the case. This then sometimes results in each side stating numerous arguments before the trial starts, not all of which are equally likely to be valid and some of which might be grasping at straws. The article I read suggests that Tesla is taking this approach, and the free-speech argument was only one of several used. A careful reading of the article indicates that Tesla was claiming it was an infringement of free speech to be forbidden from stating truthful claims (as opposed to lies) in an advertisement. As such, the "In other words..." sentence in your original comment is misrepresenting what Tesla is claiming. (I'm not saying that Tesla's claim is valid; merely that you are misrepresenting Tesla's claim.)

    No one should pay for Tesla fsd before it is regulated so as to have insurance cover the car without a driver driving it in all situations. When a person without a drivers license can get into a Tesla and have it drive them to their destination, while legal and covered by insurance, then that is the time to buy Tesla FSD. Until such time, it’s a total waste of money.

  • @user-jy8ew2xc9g

    FSD is only valuable if it can safely drive your vehicle with no involvement from the passenger/driver. If the driver still has to monitor what is going on and be ready to jump in and take over, FSD is worthless.

      Already very worthwhile, as it makes a drive much safer. Use facts, not feelings to judge this. It's several times safer than any ordinary autopilot.

      @someuser7501 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @user-gv4cx7vz8t No it doesn't make it safer at all. When Cruise Control first came out it was only keeping the speed at a certain setting. That is not helping things be safer by one bit. You get distracted or fall asleep you go sailing off the side of the road at full speed. THAT is the facts.

      @@someuser7501 Not true. For accident avoidance, FSD is very nearly five times safer than the American national industry average of drivers, in miles driven per crash (FSD @ 0.31/1M miles, vs industry @ 1.53/1M miles). Tesla Autopilot has been even safer than that @ 0.18/1M miles driven. That was as of April, 2023, but FSD is much improved since then. Perhaps we shouldn't continue debating until you have some data to argue with.

    Real autonomous fsd is still years away. How would fsd that requires a driver be ANY threat to uber? Somebody is supposed to purchase a tesla, pay for fsd pay a driver or supervise fsd himself, and do that cheaper than uber pays a driver to use their own car? I don’t think so. Please people, use your brains. Tesla will not be a threat to uber until full unsupervised fsd is a reality, and possibly not even then do to the high cost of the tesla and fsd.

    • @someuser7501
      @someuser7501 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @SlackJones1 yeah but Uber has no innovations on the horizon to make it better. FSD will just get better and better until it takes over. It's just an inevitable waiting game. Saying FSD is not a threat is just being naive.

Does this union go on strike when unionized companies at other companies also have poor working conditions?
      If that doesn’t sound strange to you, please fill me in. I know nothing about unions in Sweden. Do you think it’s possible that this union is overstepping? Do you believe that all jobs should be unionized?

      The goal of IF Metall's strike is not to stop Tesla, or throw it out of Sweden. The goal is better and fairer deals for Tesla workers. So that Tesla is gearing more towards regular Scandinavian fair pay and contracts. In a strike, the goal is not to destroy the employer. Just find something that hurts and then after some time they find a compromise. This is how it is usually done in Scandinavia. One agrees. Some American companies are trying to do what they do in the US, leaving workers with their cap in hand. Tesla just has to put up with and conform to the labor practices of the countries in which it operates. Australia and many other countries also has unions fighting for its members.
