US will not allow Tesla to export AI/Dojo technology to China, and China will not allow its data to be exported to US, so it's complicated. FSD is more important than India or Model-2, since other brands are already at $20K price. The market is pushing for Tesla's $20K Model-2, but that's kinda irrelevant when prices are dropping for every other model. FSD 'data' is just as important for national security as the AI/Dojo 'tech', which is why it may be deployed in Europe before the US. Remember, Tesla EV's are already prohibited in China for government employees/areas. This is complicated, and the question of 'sovereign-data' is not easy when a car can effectively be used as a drone or surveillance device.
Lee Kwan Yew was aware of demographics given multiracial Singapore. China doesn't have that problem, or at least a significant low IQ cohort.
AI/Dojo technology. LOL. The Chinese are far ahead of Tesla when it comes to AI and autonomous driving. The reason Tesla wants to release FSD in China is because its sales are falling off a cliff, and Elon hopes FSD will create some hype around his outdated cars to drive up consumer interest. This isn't going to work, because Chinese consumers will soon find out that FSD is laughably behind its Chinese competitors.

@5:36. That's interesting to know.
That adds to my previous question of how Sam concludes that Chinese autonomous driving software is not as good as Tesla's.
At least, NON of the autonomous robotaxis and robo-busses that have been operating for years in China have had any accidents.
In China, if these robo- vehicles have an accident, the WHOLE WORLD would know, and it would be in the front page news in the western media.
In fact, Sam specifically made a video about Xiaomi EV crashes.
Why would Sam keep quiet about Chinese robotaxi crashes or robobus crashes IF THERE WAS any crashes ??
Except for the fact that a Communist dictatorship like China strictly controls all the media and information data so the outside world knows only what the government want's them to know.
China always hides bad news. No chinese Self Driving accident would be on chinese news or allowed out of the country.
The comment I just made vap%@ored. Basically, unfavorable events would be hard to get i# n& f% o# . Never get out to wor?&ld.

And even for those that don't, at least I'm sure Sam would cover them here. (For example, Sam covered those Xiaomi crashes in one of his previous videos).
So how do you think Sam was able to cover those crashes?
Obviously, it's not like Sam was sitting in China waiting for these things to happen.

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (notification released yesterday), Tesla already have full compliance for automotive data safety meaning no leaks of cockpit recordings and other data-safety details. I guess the issue here is definitely the data transfers to USA servers... Elon could learn and improve a lot by using all the data collected from Teslas on chinese roads. The other hidden issue is that it is a massive security threat for China to share such data with the ¨freedom fighter¨ guys that can easily access Elon's data at will with a simple court order. If the Americans can cry for TikTok, China has the same right to protect its own interests. But if they approve it, it will be a baller's (positive) message to the USA... ¨we don't care¨ let's do business.
On Monday, two separate sources told Reuters Tesla had reached an agreement with Baidu to use the Chinese tech giant's mapping license for data collection on China's public roads, which they described as a key step for FSD to be introduced in the country.
After Reuter’s announcement of the cancellation of the 25k car based on inside information I would not trust any news about Tesla or Elon Musk from them.🤔
The term “bleeding” in this context signifies that the business is losing money at a rate that is unsustainable or detrimental to its operations. Tesla has reduced auto revenue and sales but it has not lost money. To use "bleeding" is over the top.
China will never allow it, but teslas problems in my opinion is stagnant products. People love new stuff. Flogging the x s 3 and y with minor tweaks just isn’t cutting it especially with other manufacturers bringing the latest and greatest to the table constantly. Innovation is what people want.
Hey but you have to admit that having the best selling car in the world was quite an accomplishment. If anyone wants to say toyota still had them beat it all depends on who and how one counts. A magazine article addressed this and said if we count toyota style the 3 and Y are the same car and Tesla was still the best selling. I was not the one who did the counting.
I love apple apple 🍏 green

I look out the balcony and it's all green
There would be an advantage to creating FSD based on intel in another region. An FSD that’s based in China would learn and grow differently. So instead of just one path to autonomy there would be a second one. Maybe eventually a third in India. The sense of competition between the teams and just taking a different path would put FSD as a whole far ahead than just developing it in one place.
Talk is easy.. Setting up a giant company is that easy in India??By the time the factory Ready, cars already have evolved...
The AI would be confused by driving styles and would suck driving in both countries.

The problem for Tesla in China is they haven’t had an updated model for years while one year in the Chinese market equals 1 light year for the rest of the world.
Actually, that's not the problem at all. Tesla sales are doing well in China despite increased competition and a weak economy. Tesla Model Y is the best selling vehicle in China and the whole world. Facts do not support your position.
The Tesla Model Y was the #1 selling car model in China for 2023 (that's for ALL car models not just EVs). It is currently at the #3 position for 2024 YTD. I'd say their "old" model is still doing pretty good.
@@markthomas7279According to the “Weekly Sales of popular EVs” for the 16th week of 2024 (April 15th to April 21st). Huawei Aito has the highest sales volume at 6,044 units; followed by Tesla with 5,168 units; Li Auto sold 4,488 units; Leapmotor recorded sales of 3,875 units; Zeekr’s sales reached 3,159 units; Nio had 3,019 units sold; Xpeng reported 2,494 units; Xiaomi Auto sold 1,716 units; and finally, Zhiji Auto had the lowest sales volume among those listed, at 1,098 units. The protectionism in India is brutal and free trade with India is virtually impossible. Furthermore most people in India cannot afford to buy a Tesla since annual income of most Indians is well below the price of a Tesla.
China is a different story since the new autopilot software for China would be something the Chinese owners of Tesla's may want and want to share with Tesla's head office with the right incentives, such as building a new Tesla Model 2 in China.

They want Indian employment at a giga factory, but they don't want Tesla competing on the local market with other Indian made vehicles. Protectionism in India is real and it would not be in Elon Musk's interest to invest in an Indian giga factory in my opinion.
@@mauriceharting5877
Tesla probably wouldn't mind exporting from India if it is profitable.
Protectionism is very strong in India, that's true.
We'll see what happens.
@@AWildBard If I was in charge of Tesla I would be concerned about:
1. India's protectionism
2. Sales of Tesla's within India
3. Political instability and changes for foreign corporations within India
4. Export restrictions and duties on Indian made Tesla's to Europe and the US
@@mauriceharting5877
I'm not really basing my opinion on optimism. I just doubt that Tesla would go into anywhere without a profitable reason. So it seems like if Modi or anyone in India wants Tesla to come in, they will have to make some kind of compromise, including on the 100% tariffs. And India will want something in return.
And it really does seem like India wants Tesla to invest in India. Because they keep saying they do.
But what you say is also true, which is why Tesla-- and every other company -- are not in India so far.
Perhaps the Chinese gov should insist he sell Tesla to a Chinese entity.
That will happen anyway as it happened to many Western companies.
No need as China have a kot of capable EV manufacturer. US have none therefore bo choice force China to. Sell the company to them.

Surely Musk could offer to disable FSD in any sensitive areas - and he might be able to offer to separate the Chinese data so it's not held in the USA. Banks do that with sensitive customer data so that places like Luxembourg and The Channel Islands can offer certain types of security.
Elon Musk didn't lie, did he? He cancelled his trip to India because he really has heavy workload.
Musk found a friend in chna when he faced so many resistance in U5 years back and took off so well in chna. Now chna alrdy have autonomous bus and delivery bots etc., Tesla FSD should fit the market well as chna is more ready for it than U5. I believe they will work out something, chna views Musk as fren too.
Makes sense that Musk would find a Communist dictatorship a friendly environment.
Tesla FSD has been in wide release in the US since October 24th, 2021
@@someuser7501 yes no intend to take credit away from U5 market adoption. Chna govt adoption in public transports is moving faster though and that's very key for mass market adoption. Either way i wish musk get something worked out there.

Knowing the Americans, they really, really got very "thick skin'.

They should start making plans for recycling the used batteries, only 10% of lithium ion batteries are currently being recycled , no one seems interested in doing it. So they are currently ending up in land fill in some countries and in big storage area's in Australia, They are still waiting for companies to come forward to do this recycling. They classify these cars as zero emissions, that's the biggest deception ever. The amount of pollution they create in their manufacture and when they are disposed is not much different to a gasoline car. Most parts in a gasoline car are recyclable including the lead acid batteries.
Source? That sounds like fairly stale information. Battery recyclers need more batteries.
To the West, India is insignificant, except when they can be used on the front lines against China. India should work with China.
From what I understand he's planning on building another FSD server Center in China to handle the Chinese population. I'm fairly certain the Chinese government would never allow them to export that information to the USA.
To update FSD on the cars. But with no NVIDIA in china they can not do the NN training there.
If im chinese government ill request
1.) Tesla corporate with local cloud player like Alicloud to store data of Chinese user.
2.) car produced by shanghai factory equipped Beidou navigation system.
I believe that is already the case for cars built in China.
Seems a tough sell for China to let data go back to US as Sam says. Second reason is that the US is making life hard for China, Inc. so why would China go out of its way to help Tesla? I would be that Musk has been told that FSD is not going to happen but it’s so important to him that he’s trying to make the case in person. Tesla is dealing with declining sales revenue and FSD is one way, perhaps the only short term way, to fix it.
What telsa doing in china, stays there, simple as that, musk has many other products all related to automation, now all of his products will use chinese data, serving chinese customers, well yet again under one condition, whatever happens in china, stays there.
It's not really "helping" Telsa, but rather not hinder them. But they most likely will continue hindering Tesla.
