Don’t you apologise mate for your welding skills or anything else come to that matter.. you are doing great work and living life and when it’s done you get to drive it out your garage in the summer knowing you did this .. people will always find fault but ignore them.. keep up the great work and hard work you show us .. looking forward to more content and definitely seeing your car and van finished on the road 👍👍 well done 👍👍
Looking good mate For future reference don’t put grease on the release bearing Mitch ! It’s carbon and therefore kind of self lubricating. You don’t ever want any oils or greases spinning around in the bell housing as it can contaminate the clutch
Nice work as always, great to see your progress. Now a little constructive criticism on your welds. You need to turn the heat up when welding thicker steel. it appears you've used the same heat setting as the floor-pan with the wire speed turned up. Therefore the weld hasn't penetrated to a level i would like. But hopefully it'll hold for you. As you say you never know anything before you try it. I like you're not afraid to learn on the job. Nice work.
Well done Mitch, we all learn along the way, I'm 47 and still lean stuff when working on my escort. You have a methodical mind and are doing it all right. Would run the brake lines before you bolt too much on the engine so you have more room. Great video 👏
hi, in New Zealand we didn't get the pinto, but we did get the capri and mk 3, 4/5 cortina which had the 2.0 ohc engine, with a cam and extractors twin side draughts they go so well in the light little mk 2 escort, looking forward to the first start and drive! cheers
Looking great Mitch. Don’t worry about the negative comments as long as you’re happy that’s all that matters, and we’ve only got to look at your face to see your happy. Derek from Reading. 👍
Hi buddy ive had lots of m,1 and mk2s.when i have gear boxes out i allways leave the two top bellhousing bolts out.they are a right arse to get in and out.and the box isnt going to fall out with the rest in place anyway.and as for box cross mount.the weldings ok.at least you had a go.great job..😊.

Mate just stubbled across your channel and this was the first video I’ve watched 👌🏼 love it mate! Love how honest it is and the fact your just working out of a standard garage with normal tools and making this progress I’m on the absolute edge of starting my own channel and just documenting what I get up to on my car and this has filled me with confidence 👌🏼 I’m also a very novice welder and well a novice at all things automotive really but I love learning and just giving stuff a go 👌🏼 (I’m actually a gardener) 😂
Cheers mate, glad you found my channel and are enjoying it! I’ve recently followed you on Instagram and thought the work you done on your coilovers was great 👍🏻 Get some videos filmed and uploaded, you’ll love it!
Hey Mitch I used to do these conversions back in the nineties bud, get your brakes conneceted to the master cylinder no servo required you just have to push a little harder, a set of twin fourtees will give you plenty of power if you don't want to go and see the harrisses. A lumenition ignition will deal with the spark come on sort it out!
Nice job Mitch looks fab 👌 I remember putting a box in underneath the car trying to line up those bloody clutches with the box on knees 🤣 things we used to do but we got it done in the end lol. Don’t listen to the idiots mate if your happy with your own welds then that’s all that matters it certainly looked good and welded to me ..nice job dude cars looking real nice 👍
Hi mich well done for getting your pinto in your escort really excellent video one of my favourite engines I did my first cambelt on one in my dad's mk 3 cortina years ago keep up the good work mich looking forward to your next video 😊

Only just stumbled apon your channel now, glad your still making videos on the project. iv got a 1978 ford transit mk2(1.5) and restoring it, the thing is in a million bits and I'm slowly chipping away at it, just watching your cam video now and wondering if you could link the cam kit, not too sure if it would be abit too aggressive for the van but its so difficult trying to find pinto parts in New Zealand. Any suggestions or tips for this build would be amazing. Cheers

That’s very interesting, yes I’ve got a cam in mine and twin 45’s to go on the side 😎
Well done Mitch, I use grease to get out the spigot bearing, with one as solid as that one
a puller or a hammer and chisel.
I’ve heard grease works from a few people now! Maybe I’ll try that next time 👍🏻
Just stumbled on your videos very interesting be watching from now on. Good work 👍
Thank you for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed the video!

Love the video, thanks, do you have a link for the box of bolts you brought, I’d like to do the same
Hi, I don’t have a link as I bought them all from eBay. If you search mk2 escort bolts you’ll find them 👍🏻
Nice job mate 😁😁
Cheers pal! 😎
Bread or grease would of worked if you had a good fitting drift to use i stead of a socket with a hole threw the middle as this lets the bread or grease escape

Well done Mitch ,Are you fitting engine to bell housing dirt plate ?
Sorry to sound stupid but what’s a dirt plate?
Ratchet handle or a tube socket does the same job as a clutch alignment tool buddy.
Lovely old job 👏👏👏
Thank you 👍🏻
Did you have to modify to tunnel mate
Don't forget to put a quick shift on it they ain't very expensive ,keep up the good work.
I have already got one that I test fitted a few months back, thank you for the suggestion 😎
Building a mk2 with a pinto swap you got the big bit done just get the prop fitted , and spacing for the rad
Also check where you route the clutch cable that it doesn’t fowl the exhaust and burn also Speedo. Cable and reversing light switch wire
Prop will be on soon and the rad cut out has already been made by myself! Thank you for the advice I will be careful when routing my Speedo cable 👍🏻
Hi Mitch, just wondering if you've checked clutch pedal/foot clearance with the auto tunnel in place? I'm about to cut out mine and weld in the same tunnel. I know it's been done a load of times before, but it looks a BIG tunnel! Thanks Huw
I mate, I have checked the clearance with the pedals and it is all good! Yes it is a big tunnel though 🤣

Good work Mitch the only thing I'd say is that 2mm plate you used I don't think it was strong enough as for your welding turn the wire speed down a some bit and your amps you a bit
I disagree. (Welder)
More Voltage and move Wand faster over intended joint.
Pigeon shit is due to Stop/Start issue.
Either too much distance between Wand and Joint or Earth failure.

When you said you didn't have a clutch alignment tool, I thought you might be about to pull out a carrot to continue the food theme.
Hahaha 🤣
I heard wholemeal works better if not just wack it out lol.

If you had the auto tunnel mounts fitted the gearbox mount wouldn't need to be so wide.
Yeah I agree mate, something I should’ve done!
