@@Cossie.Mk1 pleasure watching it Mt. I grew up with mk ones. 11....1300 cc.... Then dropping a 2 litre pinto in them thrashing them till they drop. If only I knew what they be werth now.. But yours is on a different planet.
Wow !, I used to compete in the 70's in something like this, I threw a fiat 131 motor and box in, jag back axle with inboard discs, club level rallying, (cough). This is looking great, wish mine had been as well specced as yours, good job fella.
Wow,that's a serious Mk1. A hell of alot work going on there. Looks bloody awsome mate. I'm in Oz,and have a standard Mk1 2door that's been waiting for me in the shed for 18years. And I'm finally ready......
Fairplay 2u brother.. doing a lovely job.. reminds me of back in the day , when I had a rwd 205 with all the goodies cos worth 2.4 for hill climbs.. only if I cud do it all again.. best of luck brother🤩🤩👍👍✊
Unfortunately parts for these things aren't cheap , but I'm managing to keep some costs down by doing the majority of fabrication and engineering myself 👍. I'm fortunate to have some brilliant friends with lathes , milling machines and TIG welders too - i couldn't do this build without my mates !
Beautiful build, Lee! I'm selling all my YB engines, boxes, efr turbo & parts in a job lot. My Viva HC was fitted with the YB, but to be able to actually get it finished & on the road, it's now getting a n/a Honda S2000 engine & box from the YB sale funds. Simple screamer! Cheers. Leigh.
Hi Lee , a very nice job. If you haven't done already a proper bump steer check will benefit the handling greatly, easy to do with straight edges and tape measures. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks Gareth , ive checked the geometry for bump steer ( im a wheel alignment engineer for JLR 😉) The track rods are parallel to the lower arms at ride height 👍
its a watts linkage. With the leaf springs gone there's nothing to locate the axle laterally . The watts linkage controls the axle movement side to side more accurately than a panhard rod.
thanks . No idea on colour yet. The plan is to be my weekend toy / fast road car , but i am interested in doing a few sprints , hill climbs , track days and maybe a bit of drag racing !
Thanks , check out album 9 of my Facebook build page here > facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.138303707957440&type=3 The Brembo callipers are from the 'Nurburgring' edition of Vauxhalls Corsa VXR , the discs are AP Racing 304mm x 28mm
Hi, thanks for the walkaround of the car, I'm just in the process of building my YB powered Mk1, what size are the rims and tyres you are running? I've got 8" rims and was looking to run 215 45 15 but there is a lack of tyres available in that size
Car /project looks great and i like your approach .Classic body shape will always look good ,will follow your progress with interest .Particularly like fuel cap and location .What colour will it it eventually be and will you paint it yourself ?
thanks , i keep changing my mind on the colour. Theres a long way to go yet , so have plenty of time to decide 😆. i cant paint - it will be going to a pro
Hi David , yes . Theyre actually the full rear 1/4 panels with the bubble arches pressed in . The front wings are the same - all were sourced from magnum panels here in the UK
That’s quite a machine you’ve build there my good man very impressive , I’m certainly no mechanic but I know a proper decent build when I see one and this is right up there with the best of them I’d say nice job …any idea on a colour yet or is that a secret? 👍
Hello Lee, I’m a very keen Mk1 Escort fan (and previous owner) this build looks great and I can see that you’ve clearly got a fairly decent budget for this build. (Sorry I don’t have a Facebook account) is this car for professional track use? Or are you building it for a client? (Or will it be for sale on completion? Thanks buddy, really interesting build!👍
Unbelievable attention to detail on your build. Can see a lot more in the video than what’s in the build pictures. Well done and keep up the good work. Ps where did you get the gold anodised hubs front hubs and brace etc ?
front suspension looks weak ? . im doing a 'dry' build - it allows me to do all the mods now without risking the paint. It wont be long before its ready to tear down to get painted in its final colour.
What a lovely looking thing
Thank you
I'm a massive Mk1 fan. So any Mk1 fans are sound by me good work Mt
Thank you

Cheers Russel 👍

Pretty interesting I have to ask why I have to pan hard bar on the rear end
its a watts linkage. With the leaf springs gone there's nothing to locate the axle laterally . The watts linkage controls the axle movement side to side more accurately than a panhard rod.
It's beautiful
Thanks 👍
Super nice build. I know how tricky all this is. Are those rear callipers the only ones in the rear. Or are these just for the E brake?
Yes, theyre the only ones. Theyre from a Sierra Cosworth and incorporate a mechanical (cable operated) handbrake.
Super build, did you decide on a color yet
Not yet!
Great video, and information ,have subscribed.
thanks fir the sub !
Lovely motor - will be a beast when its completed! Will you be using it for any events, or just a very fast road toy? Any idea on colour choice?
thanks . No idea on colour yet. The plan is to be my weekend toy / fast road car , but i am interested in doing a few sprints , hill climbs , track days and maybe a bit of drag racing !
beautiful, where to get these brakes from?

Excellent video, what did you use for the boot gas struts?
Cabinet gas struts off ebay , they're about 250mm between centres and rated at 130 Newton's

Hi mate are they works arches on the rear?

Unbelievable attention to detail on your build. Can see a lot more in the video than what’s in the build pictures. Well done and keep up the good work. Ps where did you get the gold anodised hubs front hubs and brace etc ?
Thanks Mark , I took them to a local anodisers (E.V.Woods Ltd) and had them done myself before i assembled everything.
Well informed video, superb build. Take it Doberman dogs protect the garage with fully armed snipers, alarms, smoke protection
Thanks - its very well protected 😉
Yamaha it490 and a mk1 escort
That's a 💯 sub from me 🤝👍
Sadly i sold the IT490 years ago , but the money i got for it paid for the Mancave to be built , so's i could build my Escort 👍
@@Cossie.Mk1 great bikes but old ford's are more my thing anyway 👍

Air horns. ????
lol - i was waiting for someone to pick up on that 👊. Theyre just conventional electric dual tone horns 👍
