    well done young man, camshaft timed up nicely
    you did remember to prime the oilpump +check the oil to the cam before you fitted the cambelt + camcover ?
    if you didn't, oil in, camcover off, flywheel, bellhousing + starter on, plugs out, drown the new cam in lube, jumplead earth to block, jumplead live to big starter bolt terminal, screwdriver from small starter terminal to big terminal, spin it till lube squirts out of every hole, no dribbles, good squirt at each one... keep up the good work young man

    The 2.1 Burton is a pretty bomb proof engine, Had one in a Capri with lightened and balanced everything. It was a bit lumpy, had to set the idle at 1000 if I wanted to keep my fillings 😂 timing was set iirc to 5 degs before tdc. If I opened the throttle wide from idle there was a very slight delay (about a half second) before loud things happened. Was told that's right for these engines.
    Had two re-jetted , twin 45DCOE carbs and a 421 Janspeed exhaust. Had to use a Borg and Beck heavy duty clutch.
    Looking forward to hearing this thing purr like an annoyed rottweiler. 👍😁

    I have a fun Pinto story for you. My 16 brother bought a Pinto in 1973. He drove it for a couple years then sold it to a young man who lived with us. He drove it for awhile. He was in a major accident with it. The shop had it for at least six months before he got it back. From there I got my drivers license and I drove it. Then my older sister and then my younger sister drove it. So in all five of us all teenagers drove the crap out of that Pinto.
    My youngest sister T boned a truck in it. O yeah I almost forgot. I got rear ended in it. So it took a lot of abuse. Anyway my parents had just dropped the full coverage on it and the body had to much damage to fix it but my aunt also had a Pinto that had a bad engine so they took the engine out of the Pinto that had been road hard by five teenagers and put it in another Pinto and that engine lived on like the Steven King novel Christine

    • @countmurcielago9802

      @@Mk2Mitch yes there is a good chance you will blow head gasket that’s why there put in to begin with not only to locate the gasket and head it’s all part of the design by Ford I’ve built many pintos for competition use always replaced them dowls. Try it see how long it lasts with out them but at least you know what caused the head gasket blow and your oil goes creamy

    When doing cam timing you should never do it at full lift due to the dwell. You typically take the same arbitrary height opening and closing and work out the mid point from that. That will give an exact midpoint. Plus you did it the hard way timing up the cam wheel after the head was installed.
    Cheat trick if doing this on a budget, pull out the cam woodruff key. Time it up then drill and tap in a grub screw into the interference between the cam and gear.
    Also these engines have pathetic mechanical advance curve in the dissy reworking nets huge gains.

  • @SteveReece-h4u
    @SteveReece-h4u 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Looking at bores they are badly scuffed and you can guarantee the piston will be the same
    either run with no air filter or didn’t give it enough time to warm up properly me personally
    would have stripped engine and had bore’s horned out with new set of rings it would be ashame that engine doesn’t give power you expect don’t get and more bop but good low
    down torque ,engine will fail you been very good doing other work I know would have cost you a bit but wourld have used another block and had bore don’t take out to 93mm 2.1 just
    bore out to next oversize in bore once bored out to 93mm block is either scrap or would have to sleeved
