In the start of this video I showcase some suspension and steering parts that I have been saving up for. Seeing as I have spent so long completing the underside paintwork on my Mk2 Escort, I could not just be throwing old rusty parts back on! In the haul I show my brand new GAZ GHA coilovers which I’ve always wanted and are height + dampening adjustable.
I get to work fitting all of the suspension components and as you’ll see in the video it all falls into place, causing me no problems at all! I’m looking forward to progressing more with the build as a new brake package including some Wilwood brake callipers has just been ordered.

Mitch, with the alloy hubs you must warm them up before fitting the bearings. It also helps to pop the bearings in the freezer! If you just bash in the bearings like we have all done with a cast hub you will mess up your new hubs and that would be a shame. They do not mention this when you buy them, it is all to do with the different expansion rates of the materials so the tolerances are tighter with the alloy hubs to stop the bearings moving about when they warm up in use...
absolutely do this, i baked mine in the oven and as you say, bearings in the freezer and then use a brass drift to gently drive them in

Looks great, I think you need a bigger workshop, I remember working on my parents gravel driveway doing this stuff to my 1600E, cold and wet and windy.
Yeah working out in the elements isn’t fun! Glad I’ve got the garage but a unit would be nice one day 😎

Looking good. It’s great to see such a pukka job being done. I remember back in the day using spring clamps on the front springs and lowering blocks to lower my Mk2. I was a poor student though! Can’t wait to see the progress.

@Mk2Mitch Gaz..?? .. I've not heard of that suspension company, I hope they're notc rested to Russian GAZ Automotive,
...or that the actual strut assembly are themselves are of a sufficiently high quality of construction & materials!&.apart from looking 'new and seemingly okay or are they just being pricey or cheap enough to work while scamming you?
Ideally even if you can't change the spring's (?!?) Really you should know what spring rate they are, especially if & when 'lowering' !
...to help you know if they may going to be not hard enough, or are too hard !
I cannot get the anti roll bar to go back on..I get one wishbone on and the other side won't fit.. am I better taking the wishbones off the roll bar first then bolting then to the struts

You put the bolts in the wrong way holding antiroll brackets bolts go in from in wing into engine bay

The top mounts need turning so the offset is inside not out side
Can you send me some photos? This was how the bolts were set up when they were delivered to me and I assumed they were correct?
..wow, he thinks 'drop in' race type parts come fully preconfigured and set up to go...😰
...without any care of a lack of instructions for fitting and assuming the Gaz & toomount companies had pre-set adjustment s of the assemblies to a basic setting up - they don't for adjustable shock top mounts, only thread the required number of hopefully specified bolts in any hole so they don't get Los while packaging the order together.
