- Welcome back all,
It is crazy to think that my last upload on the Mk2 Escort, was 2 months ago! Time seems to go so fast when you're working on a big project but here we are with the latest instalment and update video! I start by unboxing some parts that include a RHD pedal box, which is essential for this build as I only had the old LHD box that came with the car.
Throughout the video I refurbish old parts, to make them last longer and look better. I also fit the parts and explain how I'd like to progress with the project going forward.

Everything is looking fantastic!!
Thank you! It’s getting there 😁
I love your attention to detail, fix it right the first time, no bodging.
Thank you, that’s the exact motto I stick by 😎
Nice one Mitch , engine bay looks mint 🙌👍
Thank you pal!
Definitely true Mitch a little a bit at a time Keeping going mate and you’ll have that on the road. All the best 👍
Thank you pal, appreciate it 👍🏻
Another great video mate keep them posted....Mike
Thank you pal, will do! 👍🏻
Love you Mitch
Hi Mich, you should use locking nuts (nylocks ) on the the 4 servo bolts, go for a new master rebuild is a nightmare, and get yourself some loom wrap do not use insulating tape as in six months it will be all sticky mess and will start to come apart, all good to see keep them coming
Thank you for the advice pal, I will get some nylock nuts for the back of the servo! I will be using loom wrap, I know how messy insulating/electrical tape gets 😅👍🏻
Getting there now Mitch love the videos 👌🏼
Cheers mate! 👍🏻
Noice Mitch, she's coming together well. Top Man. From S.A.👌👌
Thank you pal! Getting there slowly but surely 😁
I would buy new master cylinder and save you time Mitch. Little tip do your wiring loom on a sunny day because the heat off the sun will make the loom more maluble to work with. 👍
Thank you for the advice mate, I’ll bare that in mind when I sort my wiring out 👍🏻
Yep. Use washers and nylock nuts whenever you can bud
Great video there as usual dude 😎👍
Cheers mate 👍🏻
Nice one Mitch another little step closer to getting her back on the road.
Cheers pal 👍🏻
Definitely a new master cylinder . Great work there mitch 👏. Always enjoy your videos Tim 😊
Thank you Tim, I’ll most likely be getting a new one! 👍🏻
Looking awesome Mitch great job on the painting mate 👍🏻
One thing I remember you doing and I think you have forgotten about you cut your clutch cable tube off because you said you were going hydraulic but you changed your mind I think , don’t want you to build all your brake servo and tower up for you to have to take it off and weld a tube back on mate or have you something planned for holding your clutch cable at the right angle , anyway your videos are great roll on summer and get the mk2 on the road 👍🏻❤
Thank you pal. You are completely right, I did cut it off, as was going hydraulic. I’ve had a long think and the plan is to make up a plate with an angled piece of tube to create the section I chopped off! 👍🏻
Nice one Mitch another step closer
Thank you mate m!
Great stuff on the Mk2, its coming together, great video. Best wishes.
Thank you! 😎
Some decent progress there. Your sprayed parts look spot on👌🏻
Cheers mate 👍🏻
Well done mitch you making great progress just a bit at a time you will get there and it will be fantastic
Cheers pal, really appreciate the comment! 👍🏻
Love your content mate good luck with the rest of the build 👍
Cheers mate!
Looking good dude
Thank you!
Top job
Thank you!
Great job mate keep up the good work 👍🏽
Cheers pal 👍🏻
Chip by Chip Mate you will get there
Cheers pal 👍🏻
Great work Mitch, I would get some tape across the inlet and exhaust ports whilst working on other stuff. Last thing you want is anything dropping in the cylinder head!
Thank you pal, I appreciate the comment and advice! I’ll get them taped up! 👍🏻
More good progress.
Thank you!
looking forward to the wiring loom 🤯
That’ll be a task and a half 🤣👍🏻
Just what i wanted after a shit day looking forward to this pal
Glad you enjoyed the video mate!
Been looking forward to this one mitch the race is on with our Marcus it would be nice to see them side by side.
Will be nice to have them both out!
I would have the bolt heads on the outside off the wing you will be surprised how much the wheels turn and they will hit the bolts as it is
My mk2 used to rub the inner wing in reverse
Thank you for the suggestion, I’ll turn them around 👍🏻
Go for a new one. The 4 bolts for the servo I would use spring washers or nylocs as I can see them rattling loose over time, check with someone who actually knows. I’m guessing. Great video again. Keep em coming.👍🏻
Cheers Nick, I’ll change them out for some nyloc nuts as I can see exactly what you’re suggesting 👍🏻
Keep chipping away, it all adds up! Please put some tape over the exhaust & inlet ports mate😂 great video love see your mk2
Cheers mate! I’ll add some tape for sure!
👍👍
Instead of using tape
Rubber grommets might have been a better option
I'm enjoying the progress on the car
Keep up the good work
Thank you for the suggestion! Cheers 👍🏻
I would use epoxy primer on bar metal
Good shout, I usually do! 👍🏻
new master cylinder 100%, over the years i have rebuilt various master cylinders, they only last 6 month to 2yrs due to the worn bore, definitely a wise [safety] purchase
nyloc nuts for the brake parts, supposed to be MOT fail - locking device missing or insecure [ but very unlikely these days] run a green wire from coil neg. to dash for rev counter
still no strengthener on that servo support ?
keep it up young man
Thank you for the advice as usual! No strengthener but I have had a chat with some guys and I’m going to get one then bond it on 👍🏻
dont know if them master cyl are still available brand new. Past parts in Bury St Edmunds will be able to recon it for you , they can also resleeve the bore if worn.
Brilliant, thank you for the suggestion mate!
If possible run the line around the front to the offside brake
Might give that a go!
Great job can you still get new master cylinders ?
I’m unsure, I need to have a research 👍🏻
You have no retainer panel that is welded to the bulkhead if holds the clutch cable in place and is sandwiched between the p.box and servo tower
I do have the reinforced panel, it’s just missing the clutch cable hole! I have plans to sort this soon 👍🏻
There should be a strengthening plate on the outside of the inner wing which is welded to it, yours is missing I'll send you a pic later, what throttle linkage you going to use as you may need to modify the standard pedal?
Hi mate, yes I know the plate you’re talking about! I find myself if a sticky situation now though as the pay is painted and the inner wing has been coated 😬 I got a linkage with the twin 45’s so will need to have a look at it 👍🏻
Paint the plate and just bond it on, it's only to stop the tower bolts getting ripped though the inner wing in a accident
@@darrenfrench5544 brilliant, thank you for the suggestion mate! I’ll do that 👍🏻
Mitch why is the top pulley not paint like the bottom pulleys
Purely because it’s adjustable and if I need to adjust it when tuning the car then the paint will crack and flake off 👍🏻
Can you send your master cylinder away for someone to rebuild for you ?
Yes, had a few suggestions to do that and a company’s name keeps popping up! I’ll be giving them a visit 👍🏻
Hi Mitch, great work so far , but a couple of pointers for you as someone else mentioned you are missing the clutch cable tube through the bulkhead, when you converted the shell.is the master cylinder scored inside if it is then get it lined by a company called past parts they can reline it with stainless steel liner..and supply correct seal kit.. new ones quality wise are not great from what I've heard. lastly the servo non return grommet if you check out Land Rover parts and order from britpart the following kit it comes with non return valve and grommet. britpart number 18G8953L no criticism here just some things to help you out keep up the great work on this build ........Chris
Hi Chris, thank you for the comment. The clutch cable tube is missing because I cut it off. I was going to opt for a hydraulic slave cylinder but I have now decided to go for the original cable. Because of this decision I will have to drill out the hole and make a bracket with the angled tube to mount onto the bulkhead. I will check out that company for the brake master cylinder and will have a look at the seal too! Many thanks 👍🏻
