    Wore the carbon x in a 10k this weekend and set a recent pr for me. Keeps the legs turning over in that last mile and let's you pick up the pace easier than the Rincon for sure. I find it quite a bit better than the zoom fly Flyknit - way different with not as much spring but a ton more stable and quite a bit lighter on the foot

      Hey Stuart. As I suspected these work well at a variety of distances. Training saw me undertake a 13 mile run yesterday, in these I was able to keep at target pace without issue. They roll you forward.
      Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

    Given how difficult it is to track down a pair of Vaporfly 4%, the Carbon X will probably become the go-to shoe for a lot of runners.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ivan. I think your right, only limited stores have it in stock, and not all runners wish to chance an online purchase. That aside it wasn’t easy to get this pair. I had to call on Scotland! Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

    Great job with this review. Looks like these could easily do 300 miles. The added stability and width on these are also attractive . It's always a real positive to have a go to versatile shoe when training like you are for an upcoming race.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ian. I think you are spot on. 300 miles is probably a very realistic amount for these. Such a light shoe but also so versatile. Let’s hope in the future they don’t change anything about this shoe, I’m sure they will tinker though!
      Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

    I have mixed feelings about the Carbon X:
    I think it doesn't really work for forefoot strikers, I felt the rocker profile was controlling my foot strike too much and taking away from the toe off.
    So I ended up subconsciously modifying my footstrike to more midfoot, which means pronatation for me.
    I then tried the Vaporfly 4% and it felt immediately more natural and could get up on the toes more. Foam is also noticeably more bouncy.
    So I think your footstrike will determine which shoe you will like more.
    Also after some gravel runs in the Carbon X, the stones have made huge dents in the outsole foam.
    (I chose the 4% over the next% just because, by eye, the heel looks more stable.)

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching, I think that the outsole could be the thing that goes first on this shoe as it’s taking the brunt of the terrain. 👍🏼

      @@EDDBUD Feels great on tar, but gravel tears this shoe apart. Stones also get stuck in the viewing hole for the carbon plate.

      I fear the outsole May look more Han Solo in carbonite than Carbon x. 😂

      1) don't compare the carbon x to nikes 2) your talking rubbish about ur strike 3) heel stable on the eye wtf are you talking about? 4) what on earth are you running on gravel in these shoes for when its an unprotected outsole?? Conclusion (I can be honest as not my channel) you're a total moron.

    Hi Edd, great analysis/video as always, i have 2 questions from this video...hope you can provide some info thanks.
    1) Is this shoe tts, are you wearing ur normal size in this?
    2) which shoe give you more speed and propulsion, this or the Nike ZF3?

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Danny. Defiantly true to size in this one, the carbon x is significantly lighter and I feel isn’t massively different in terms of propulsive feel to the ZF3.

  • @BamainMn
    @BamainMn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review! It is indeed a workhorse of a shoe (I have 1 tts pair with 300 miles). Regarding sizing, it seems that my dedicated race version, which is a 1/2 size up, has a bit more of a springboard effect - though that could be due to fact I use that pair exclusively for racing, so my legs are fresher and stronger (which you discussed in the video). But I also wonder if sizing decision really comes down to a function of the rocker and the particular stride of the runner. I'll see during my tune up race this weekend which will be run with no taper whether there's a difference...

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. Thanks for commenting. Yes could be down to race situation, in training the propulsion is there, just feels a little different to the other plate style shoes. I agree, a great workhorse shoe. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

    Edd, is the Next % for faster runners? You did not mention (or I miss that) that 4% or Next% works well at higher speed (5’-5’30”) per miles and for efficient runners. Solereview talked about it, take a look. Anyway, thanks for the review.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Massi. Certainly those shoe shine brightest at the higher paces, but I feel even runners at lower paces can get some benefits from the next % and carbon x. The more efficient the runner the more benefits are apparent. But I still stand by my view that all runners can see some performance advantages from these shoes. Especially in the shape of shorter recovery times. Many thanks for watching and commenting. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

      Jay, I use both Beacon 1 and Clifton 6. Bought the latter for those really long easy miles and Clifton 6 delivers! More cushioning than Beacon which you'll welcome when miles pile up. Typical Hoka smooth rocker toe-off. Not as responsive as Beacon but they serve a slightly different purpose.
