    A review of the Hoka One One Carbon X running shoe including how it performed during triathlon run training, both on a long run and speed work, as well as what kind of triathlete this shoe is recommended for. Also, how it compares to the Nike 4% which also has a carbon plate in the sole, but rings in at a higher price tag.

    If you are interested in these two shoes and wear orthotics. I found the Carbon x supports orthotics much better than Next 4%. Just an FYI.

    • @tcoopdeville776
      @tcoopdeville776 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also wear a custom orthotics prescribed by my podiatrist which is impossible to use in any of Nike's shoes, especially the vapor flys. The shoes are too narrow for the orthotic and the heel is too high resulting in me feeling like my heel is being pushed out of the shoe leaving my ankle unsupported. The Hoka Carbon X (and Rincon) fit my orthotics PERFECTLY!!! I really wanted the orthotics to work for the nike's because they are gorgeous shoes, but I much rather stick to what works and save a ton of $$$.

    Just a small tip: when talking about the shoes while showing running footage try not to speak about the shoes in terms of "this and this" ... maybe my brain is just slow but I was a little confused.

    Love the Hoka Carbon X.
    I was amazed when I tried it from a friend but unfortunately was not able to find avails le in Greece and at most shops They suggested Me to try the 4%.
    Sorry but it is not for my legs since I felt the shoe very narrow.
    So decided to order the CARBON X from UK and I can really say that I LOVE THE HOKA ❤️

    The carbon plate is not there for any kind of “propulsion” when it bends, it’s about stability giving the huge chunk of zoom X foam, it’s all about that. Taller shoe = “longer legs” = linger stride. Plus Zoom X it’s the foam with the highest energy return out there

    Maybe i missed it but i didnt hear you talk about the drop differences between both shoes. It also may explain why you got more exhausted at the end. From what i red about the Hoka one one is a 5mm drop while the Nike is a 8mm drop. That is quite a difference for sure .

    So you recommended the Hoka for shorter races and general running. Im hearing if you can afford the 4% for Ironman or longer distance races go for it. My question is what shoe is for distance training? Nice cushion, support and will hold up for 300 miles or so?

      @javiervallecanals6321 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      roydos i typically don’t run 150km when i’m trying new shoes... so i’d go for 1 or 2x 1hr-1.5hr runs, which give enough context to know if they’d be good for race day. Plus, that is what I did with the first pair, i’m on the 3rd pair now, so I don’t need to break them anymore. But yes, I don’t use them for practice, only for races

SAYING THAT, with Sketchers releasing their Speed Elite Hypers soon and Hoka releasing more Carbon Plated shoes, I reckon this could drive down nike’s vaporfly 4’s prices in order to compete with the shoes. Apparently the Speed Elites will retail at $190 !
