    Really enjoy your content. I started running the first week of July for the first time since playing college baseball (24 years ago). Trained for a 5K and watch all of your videos along with Seth’s. My goal was a 25 minute 5K and my initial time was 33+ minutes. I ran my “race” today and ran a 22:46! My fastest leading up to today was a 24:16, so I cut 1 1/2 minutes off my PB. Will be running a few 5 and 10Ks this fall and will probably work my way in to a 1/2 marathon. Just wanted to say thank you for a little extra motivation.

      @@Icysaucydog69 well I have dropped that 5k time to 21:16 and have done a HM trial run of 1:38:26 during my current marathon training block. I’m running a marathon in two weeks with a projected time through two Tanda predictors of right at 3:20:00 which is right at my zBQ time for my age group. I may not hit my BQ time but maybe I didn’t need to focus on the 5k so much before taking a shot at a half marathon either lol

    Just got a pair of these on discount for $200 Aussie (down from an outrageous RRP of $359). First run in them this afternoon; 10km in 49:14 or 4m55 p/km (equates to 7m55s p/mi). Very pleased with them. Legs were tired after a 105km bike ride yesterday as I’m getting ready for the Melbourne 70.3 Ironman in 2 weeks time.
    This shoe just worked well for me from the moment I laced it up. No issues with fit or getting a good lock down. Was just dialled in from the start. Seriously considering this for the half marathon component of my tri now.

    Probably not meant for fast paces. A lot of people talk about how carbon plates help with recovery, so I’m assuming this is hoka’s max cushion and ultimate recovery shoe

    I went to our local run store in Dallas (Luke’s locker if you’re ever in town) and I tried out these, the Endorphin Speed, and the Mach 4. Endorphin Speed was a great shoe, but then I went running on the treadmill with these and I was really impressed because I wouldn’t have bought them sight unseen. I liked them so much that I bought them! Can’t wait to take them out for my daily run!

    Geeee..thanks Mr. Ko, now I'm torn for my next shoe to assist with my sub 4hr attempt in Spring 2022. I kid....I loved my Bondi6, and still take it out for a spin once in awhile and it just crested 500KM. I can see all that cushion, with that "black magic" rocker feel, and the carbon plate to assist would be a definite winner.

    I replaced my Hoka x 2 with these & ran 10 miles in them yesterday. I felt pretty good only issue I had was the socks I used but outside of that my legs felt good & was able to turn it up if needed. • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A few years ago, I would have made the exact same point. But today, I think an alternate way of looking at it is that one can spend that much on a premium race day experience that you may use a handful of times a year. Or you can spend the same amount on a premium long run experience every week.
      Ultimately, it’s still a lot of money to pay for a pair of shoes. But I think to strictly compare it to a race shoe may unintentionally close off an entire genre of new shoes that are (or will be) coming that you might really enjoy.

    • @arethebear3867
      @arethebear3867 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kofuzi This is true, thanks! Although, is it that much better than say the Novablast for example which is about half the price (or one third if considering discounts). Off course it would be cool to see if companies would offer non-race performance shoes at that price point but with some added value, ie expensive foams, extra durable and/or "high tec" materials or other features which would benefit the daily trainers and long run shoes.

  • @IVfluids1

    I would really like to see Hoka start looking into a more responsive foam; as in has lots of squish, but also pops that energy back fast. I also was a bit dismissive of this shoe also, first thing that went through my head when I saw a heavy long run shoe with a carbon plate was 'Hoka, you are not even trying anymore...' Can't wait to hear back on a long term review, you may actually change my mind, you already got me wondering with this video.

      there's no doubt the Bondi poses the philosophical quandry: if you dont feel the run, during or after, did you really run? I answer yes, running in Bondis on soft loose gravel is still running even if you wont feel ANY soreness or tiredness whatsoever from wearing these two foot pillows.

    • @1000davidcole
      @1000davidcole 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ricodelavega4511 You are absolutely right. I am 130 Ibs and at 61 in the aging group and I have 4 pairs of 6 and 1 of 7 and got 1000 miles out of my first pair with no signs of wear only my big toe breaking through the toe box, but that is because it bends up a bit! Every day I run average 17 km per hour for 30 mins in them. I have 3 pairs of super carbon shoes, but Bondi is the safest shoe to run in without excessive rotation caused by carbon shoes. Sticking to Bondi means no injuries.

    • @undeadly1103
      @undeadly1103 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this is just me, i cannot road run in a zero drop shoe (although my trail shoe is the lonepeak 5) as they put too much strain on my achilles. i also cannot run in a 10mm+ drop shoe as it destroys my knees. i run in hokas. 4-6mm drop with the rocker design makes running next to effortless for me. any pain or injury comes from over use, not the shoe. hope this helps

      @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think 4 or 5 mm to 8 mm is actually a sweet range, but I run in a larger range that goes up to 10 mm. I feel this variety subtly engages different muscles in my biomechanics and I have no issue with this rotation.
