  • Decided to hit up Orlando Speed World for their Saturday night 1320X Midnight Madness on 01-28-17. I was in search of another 11 sec pass on stock 245/45-20 tires, and dang near didn't get it. This time, it's also on video.....finally remembered to turn the Go Pro on..lol.

      Thank ya much, and it has been surprisingly positive on the track vids. I have an update vid I need to process/upload though. I had an uh-oh with the Scat Pack, and she has been down for a while now. But, trying to get things rolling for the rebirth, and she will be terrorizing 5.0's and SS once again.

    That negative DA over the weekend helped a lot I almost drove up there for it but changed my mind. My first 11s were in Orlando. Now down in palm beach I finally consistently run them. :) good stuff to see another scat on 245s running 11s

      It was finally good enough air to give it another shot. I ran an 11.99 @ 115.6 back in Nov/Dec at Valdosta in -150 DA, but I've had to work when the DA was better. I tracked the forecast, and decided it was time. DA was there, just wasn't sure how the track would hold up on a street car night. I almost went to Gainesville during the day....DA was -600 to -700, and they had prep'd the track for NHRA certs. You still on the OEM 245's, or swap to a different brand? I didn't think there was anyone else crazy enough to try running 11's on stock tires...lol. What messes with people about my car....no tune, no tires, only a Hellcat lower air box kit. 11's on OEM parts, gotta love it.

      Bob V Thank ya sir, and it took some trial n error to make it happen. People thought I was nuts for even trying to get 11's on a stock 245..lol. New n/a combo is going to be much nastier, and hoping for mid 11's on street tires, low 11's/high 10's with a drag setup. TBH, would love a C6 Z06, but my clutch days are done..bad knee from military service. They are nasty bad with cam, exhaust, tune.

      C-7 Z06 is available with auto's, I almost traded for one last summer but mama didn't want to sell ours.A Forum member has his C-6 LS3 running really well with LT headers, CAI, tune, A-6 he's in Georgia and last outing he got 12.02 at 117mph. He's looking at DR's to get in to the 11's.My only choice for a track is Vegas and the DA sucks plus its crowded as hell and a 2.5 hr drive 1 way, bummer :(Good luck on your quest

Just hate the thought of not being on stockers though....soooo much fun messing with people when they realize how stock the car is..lol.

    Very good run. That's amazing! I saw 1 other Scat Pack CHALLENGER run 11.50, all stock except he had a K&N drop in filter. I still couldn't believe that he doesn't have a tune, until his brother who also has a 15 Challenger Scatpack ran almost the identical time with drag radials and a tune. I looked the stock one over and saw nothing that indicate otherwise that it wasn't stock. So you're not by any means the only 1.

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862
      @lonnieaspinwall3862  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, and the car was very consistent if I got the launch right. Doing it on drag radials is one thing, but pulling it off on the stock tires is a whole other game. Its walking a tightrope with dress shoes on..impossible, no..but who's crazy enough to try it..lol. I'm hoping to improve on the times though. Changed to a 275/40 rear plus have a Tazer to unlock SRT Track mode. Hoping to make it to a track next weekend and try everything out.

      When trying to run a good number on stock 245s, it's a serious case of walking a VERY thin line between spin and hook. I may try something stupid with the stock tires...can they hook up 475-500 rwhp. If it's stupid and it works, it's not stupid...lol. I have a forged, cammed engine going in soon, so vids will start again.

  • @NOCO-NORSEMEN

    A couple more questions... What RPM are you staging at? What is your ESC setup Off, Sport or Normal? And is the car in Sport or Normal? Mt best 0-60 time is with everything set to normal, crazy! It runs consistent 4.4 0-60's on RSA 245's. Even trying to feather in 1st to 2nd, I get hop or spin in sport ESC. My biggest debate now is the rear tires, I'm stuck on either 275's or widening the WRT's and going with 305's. I should have these burnt off by spring, just in time for some new stickier shoes!

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862
      @lonnieaspinwall3862  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If the track is good, I'll stage at 1800-1900 rpm then roll the throttle pretty quickly. I can always tell when I get too aggressive on the gas....spins/hops/generally not happy..lol. If the track is so-so, I dial it back to 1600 or so, then ease into it. ESC is in Sport, same for trans. I tried a few passes with ESC off, and had too much spin on launch. The TQ management pulls it back just enough in Sport to let the car hook. I have a pair of 275's going on the car tomorrow...went with the Atturo AZ850's. For the price, figured WTH, I'll give them a whirl. If they don't work like I want, next up will be the Firehawk Indy 500's...friend has them on his tuned/sprayed R/T and says they hook really good for a street tire.

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862
      @lonnieaspinwall3862  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More than likely..yes. I need to stop beating on my daily tires, even if its ssoooo much fun ..lol. I'm looking at stepping down to an 18" wheel out back so I can get a 27" tall tire. Leaving that many rpm untouched through the traps has me curious if there are gains to be had.

    • @novaguy383
      @novaguy383 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lonnie Aspinwall racestars are 17" and fit our cars perfect and aren't all the expensive either, lightweight too.

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862
      @lonnieaspinwall3862  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's my other option. Only thing about the Race Stars is I hate the lug/offset washer arrangement you have to use. I had a full set for my '15 Mustang, and they are a PITA to swap on race day. I found an 18" wheel I want to try thats fairly cheap. There's an 18" 555R Nitto that is almost 27" tall..26.87..that I've run before and works great. If it doesn't work, can always sell them and go the RS route.

    • @novaguy383
      @novaguy383 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lonnie Aspinwall they changed their lug setup a few years back. I heard they used to suck but apparently they have a better setup now. I can't say for sure though as I haven't mounted mine yet

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862
      @lonnieaspinwall3862  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was a year ago, so I have no idea. Hopefully they stopped with the offset washer mess, and went to something better. I did have the old Type 94 wheels, so that might have been the reason for the washer setup. I know it was a royal pita to swap wheels...put a lot of stress on the studs because of the tight clearance between lug and rim.

  • @lonnieaspinwall3862

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862

      I loved slamming gears over the years, but these new automatics are the way to go. Even if I didn't have a beat up left knee that forces me to drive an auto, still would have gone with the A8. It shifts lightning fast, never misses a gear, and will shift at the same rpm every time.

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862
      @lonnieaspinwall3862  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, and only mod is a Hellcat lower air box. I did swap out the mid mufflers for Dynomax mini race bullets, but those were for better sound. Stock exhaust on these cars flows very well for an OEM.

    • @declaratedvet

      Lonnie Aspinwall so intake and exhaust then...

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862
      @lonnieaspinwall3862  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not even intake and exhaust. The Hellcat air box is only the lower half of the air box. Dimensionally, exact same as the factory one. Exhaust is still oem, only a muffler swap. The stock system is VERY efficient and high flowing, so it was a sound change no performance gains.
