I feel like these cars embody two very different personalities. Dodge has always been about having a great time while going in loud and proud, while BMW has always been about combining luxury, power and precision. I’m a challenger guy myself but that BMW really just hits all the boxes

We have officially reached the point where hp does not matter most. it's about how to bring the power down. traction (AWD, engine in the back), aero, shifting, turbo lag.

There are different versions of the Mustang and Camaro to meet or exceed the capabilities of countless German performance cars at a fraction of the cost of their direct competition. Their chassis and powertrains have come a long, long way. Furthermore, the Corvette has always been a bargain performance machine that has gone toe-to-toe with its foreign competition. There was also the Viper, until recently. Let us also not forget that Tesla is an American company, and they paved the way for their foreign EV competition - which are still way more expensive, if we're to find competitors that can match the Teslas' power and acceleration figures. Oh, by the way, not sure if you knew this but the Charger / Challenger / Chrysler 300 all owe their existence to Mercedes-Benz for supplying the base platform on-which these machines are built. For BMW turbo cars, figure they're going to dyno close to their rated _crank_ hp. So 627 whp. Call it 725 crank hp. And that would give it a similar power to weight ratio as the Redeye. Only it won't heat soak as fast and it probably has better aero too.

I have a 2017 m240i which claims 335 hp, but I was somehow keeping up with cars pushing 400 hp. Found out people have been dynoing stock m240's at about 395 hp. BMW is cheeky af with their numbers for sure! At least with the m240i model
the M5 /M6 platform is a fabulous base. supercar from tuner performance! 1200 horsepower variants are pretty plentiful. Pretty compelling. Ive had a550i for years and love it, but its time to upgrade. M5 or M6 on the top of my list.

The E60 wasn't always the daddy, mostly it was, but it wasn't as dominant as the E34 versions were compared to their competition in my opinion and this is just my opinion. F10 I think was a backward step myself and by this time the competition was crowded, again, my thoughts are about the level of dominance and I think the latest one is heads and heels above the rest in a way the much earlier, say E39 version was in its day. Just my 2c.
The e39 was the absolute best that’s why the values are climbing. The e60 was just legendary since was the last naturally aspirated and V10 the f10 seems to be totally forgettable and the least iconic m5. E34 m5 and e39s are already classic status

I drove M3 comp and M4 comp, on the track, and I couldn't believe how fast they are, and how they are like glued to the track, it was fascinating. And I sat in M5 CS, at the dealership, in this same colour, and in real life, it is even more beautiful! P.S. The guy who bought that M5 CS has the name HULK on his licence plates..

@@panelsm7933 Also, the simple fact is, the crossplane setup and the "hot V" turbocharging setup the M5 runs is a different ballgame as opposed to the more typical supercharging arrangement run by the competition. The transmissions are both ZF (8hp70, M5s), (8hp90, Hellcats) 8 speeds. Everybody uses them anymore. That part's not so special. So it boils down to mainly tuning and gear ratios there. The reason the M5 beats the Hellcat boils down to the weight disadvantage and the better traction with the M5's AWD/RWD setup. I love Hellcats, but they don't need extra power, they need suspension upgrades. Smoky burnouts are fun, but you need to be able to get the car to hook.
Both cars are just fantastic and huge respect to owners of both cars. But the BMW just does it for me, the looks, the transmission tuning, it's just almost perfection.

Their interior is by no means as quality as bmw but it's pretty nice still The plastic shit is over with doddge ford and Chevy unless you get the cheaper based models which I don't count those. American cars put options for what quality you want vs German and British cars just offer the highest end.
Got my first car this year (a 2014 320i) and it's my dream to get something like that m5 in the future. Although I definitely wouldn't turn down a hellcat if I got the chance 😆
For me it was the 02 m5 and the. V10 M5.. When I finally grew up and had the money to buy a V10 M5 I went to the M5 forums.. and literally not a single owner said that they would buy it again. 😥 I decided it was best to not meet my heros.

I have a 2020 M5 and overall its the best car I have owned. Its very comfortable and quite and nice to drive in normal mode. Yet when a guy in a loud Mustang GT, Chevy Camaro SS, or a Hellcat or a Tesla performance 3 or S pull up next to me: I can take them down no questions asked, no fuss or drama, I just mash the pedal and leave them in the dust every single time. This has played out dozens of times at stop lights ! then i go back into quite luxury mode and life is good. My M5 has destroyed four Hellkittens at stop lights with no drama!
I own Both a Hellcat Redeye Challenger that makes almost 1000hp with the mods done to it and a stock m5 competition. Your almost never going to lose to a Hellcat on the street from a dig, from a roll or at the track is a different story, almost zero chance from a dig even my hellcat on a full drag setup would never hook from a stop on the street.

It's official - after lengthy consideration, I submit that this was the single best car video of 2021. I can say this as a car guy having grown up a Dodge Boy (look it up), enjoying over 20 years in the auto industry with stints at each of the Big Three automakers, and also having owning a number of BMWs during that time. BMW absolutely underrates their numbers. Back in 2008, my dad bought a 335xi, which they said produced 300hp, but then you have people DYNOing the N54 and it ends up putting out 320-330 to the wheels.
That had a lot to do with the e9x M3, and not having the "lesser" model step on the toes of the flagship for sales reasons. Also the reason why a tune/mods does so much to the N54 (when they're actually running, lol). Pretty turned down to keep the NA-utists happy.
Being an old M5 driver from the early 90's, this was not a shock to me. Being a Charger driver today, I can safely say, the Charger is a hooligans car. The M5 CS is a precision professional heavyweight boxer. Both are impressive machines. In Europe, I would want the M5. In the USA, it is equally impressive. But the the Charger is just more fun. Face it, where do you get to run out either on a regular basis? Between stop lights, the M5 will eat the Charger up. But the Charger sounds wicked and will draw a lot of attention. I personally love the sound of the Charger and you can have a blast in it and not get into trouble. IF I wanted a canyon carver, obviously the M5 is the choice machine.
At least the hellcat is supercharged so it can whine while it’s losing.

We have officially reached the point where hp does not matter most. it's about how to bring the power down. traction (AWD, engine in the back), aero, shifting, turbo lag.

There was also the Viper, until recently. Let us also not forget that Tesla is an American company, and they paved the way for their foreign EV competition - which are still way more expensive, if we're to find competitors that can match the Teslas' power and acceleration figures.
Oh, by the way, not sure if you knew this but the Charger / Challenger / Chrysler 300 all owe their existence to Mercedes-Benz for supplying the base platform on-which these machines are built. For BMW turbo cars, figure they're going to dyno close to their rated _crank_ hp. So 627 whp. Call it 725 crank hp. And that would give it a similar power to weight ratio as the Redeye. Only it won't heat soak as fast and it probably has better aero too.

I have a 2017 m240i which claims 335 hp, but I was somehow keeping up with cars pushing 400 hp. Found out people have been dynoing stock m240's at about 395 hp. BMW is cheeky af with their numbers for sure! At least with the m240i model
the M5 /M6 platform is a fabulous base. supercar from tuner performance! 1200 horsepower variants are pretty plentiful. Pretty compelling. Ive had a550i for years and love it, but its time to upgrade. M5 or M6 on the top of my list.

The E60 wasn't always the daddy, mostly it was, but it wasn't as dominant as the E34 versions were compared to their competition in my opinion and this is just my opinion. F10 I think was a backward step myself and by this time the competition was crowded, again, my thoughts are about the level of dominance and I think the latest one is heads and heels above the rest in a way the much earlier, say E39 version was in its day. Just my 2c.
The e39 was the absolute best that’s why the values are climbing. The e60 was just legendary since was the last naturally aspirated and V10 the f10 seems to be totally forgettable and the least iconic m5. E34 m5 and e39s are already classic status

I drove M3 comp and M4 comp, on the track, and I couldn't believe how fast they are, and how they are like glued to the track, it was fascinating. And I sat in M5 CS, at the dealership, in this same colour, and in real life, it is even more beautiful!
P.S. The guy who bought that M5 CS has the name HULK on his licence plates..

@@panelsm7933 Also, the simple fact is, the crossplane setup and the "hot V" turbocharging setup the M5 runs is a different ballgame as opposed to the more typical supercharging arrangement run by the competition.
The transmissions are both ZF (8hp70, M5s), (8hp90, Hellcats) 8 speeds. Everybody uses them anymore. That part's not so special. So it boils down to mainly tuning and gear ratios there.
The reason the M5 beats the Hellcat boils down to the weight disadvantage and the better traction with the M5's AWD/RWD setup. I love Hellcats, but they don't need extra power, they need suspension upgrades. Smoky burnouts are fun, but you need to be able to get the car to hook.
Love it, if there is such a thing as the "CS team" at BMW they are killing it!

I have a 2020 M5 and overall its the best car I have owned. Its very comfortable and quite and nice to drive in normal mode. Yet when a guy in a loud Mustang GT, Chevy Camaro SS, or a Hellcat or a Tesla performance 3 or S pull up next to me: I can take them down no questions asked, no fuss or drama, I just mash the pedal and leave them in the dust every single time. This has played out dozens of times at stop lights ! then i go back into quite luxury mode and life is good. My M5 has destroyed four Hellkittens at stop lights with no drama!
American vehicles are just charged with raw power/torque with no way to put it down , Germans know the balance
I own Both a Hellcat Redeye Challenger that makes almost 1000hp with the mods done to it and a stock m5 competition. Your almost never going to lose to a Hellcat on the street from a dig, from a roll or at the track is a different story, almost zero chance from a dig even my hellcat on a full drag setup would never hook from a stop on the street.

FROM A STOP LIGHT, and last month i had a fool try me on the freeway doing 65 MPH to roll race me. that did not go well for the TESLA, I changed lanes in front of him when I hit 120! so I'm sure your dreaming late at night in your sleep of how fast your electric car is! next time you come up on M5, find out the truth!

It's official - after lengthy consideration, I submit that this was the single best car video of 2021. I can say this as a car guy having grown up a Dodge Boy (look it up), enjoying over 20 years in the auto industry with stints at each of the Big Three automakers, and also having owning a number of BMWs during that time. I keep re-watching it periodically, and I'm thoroughly entertained every time. Great work guys!

BMW absolutely underrates their numbers. Back in 2008, my dad bought a 335xi, which they said produced 300hp, but then you have people DYNOing the N54 and it ends up putting out 320-330 to the wheels.
That had a lot to do with the e9x M3, and not having the "lesser" model step on the toes of the flagship for sales reasons. Also the reason why a tune/mods does so much to the N54 (when they're actually running, lol). Pretty turned down to keep the NA-utists happy.

Being an old M5 driver from the early 90's, this was not a shock to me. Being a Charger driver today, I can safely say, the Charger is a hooligans car. The M5 CS is a precision professional heavyweight boxer. Both are impressive machines. In Europe, I would want the M5. In the USA, it is equally impressive. But the the Charger is just more fun. Face it, where do you get to run out either on a regular basis? Between stop lights, the M5 will eat the Charger up. But the Charger sounds wicked and will draw a lot of attention. I personally love the sound of the Charger and you can have a blast in it and not get into trouble. IF I wanted a canyon carver, obviously the M5 is the choice machine.
