We’ve got Mat in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and he’s going head-to-head against Yianni in the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye & Racing Driver Sam in the Ford Mustang!
So let’s see how these mighty muscle cars compare. Starting with the Camaro ZL1, it’s powered by a 6.2-litre supercharged V8, which would normally deliver 650hp. However, this one’s been tuned, and as a result, it puts down 770hp & 1,000Nm of torque! It delivers the power to the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 1,748kg.
Next up we have the Dodge. It’s also powered by a 6.2-litre supercharged V8, but it’s completely stock, so it puts down 808hp and 959Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it’s the heaviest car here, tipping the scales at 1,720kg.
Then finally we have the Ford Mustang, which has also been tuned, so as a result it’s housing a 5-litre supercharged V8 under the bonnet that can put down 859hp and 902Nm! Just like the others, it’s rear-wheel drive, but it has one big disadvantage - it’s equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox! However, it’s also the lightest car here, coming in at 1,720kg.
So how will this one play out? Surely the Dodge & Chevy will beat the Mustang, right? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

I've watched Carwow videos for the past 4 years or so and aside from cars this is my favorite video. All three of yall in the Challenger leaning forward really got me.

My absolute favorite drag race over the last 3+ years. The humor was in turbo charged overdrive with my favorite the callouts during Yanni racing himself with Mat and Sam in the car. 👍

@@spongy179 there’s a difference between putting an engine in a car and optimizing the car to work with the engine. It’s why actual “sports cars” are pricey.

Although as an American I don’t blame people for thinking American cars are better than Euro cars. I mean, who wouldn’t want a cheap V8 (for the US at least), because I guess it comes to a point where you’d have overall enjoyment over speed if the difference isn’t too noticeable.

For what it's worth here in Texas/ America Challengers and Chargers are mainly seen as highway racers or roll racers. It's rare to see them drag racing at lights because of the dog sh%t traction and weight. I had a 392 Charger and even that was a bear to launch properly.

And just FYI the hellcats default setting is 500 horsepower you have to manually change it or set it up to automatically come on full horse at start

Indeed. And thats why it looks so damn good. Every car these days are designed for a wind tunnel first in mind and artists are not given a proper chance to create something beautiful and what stands out from the masses. Who cares if it gets some drag reducing speed and loses few MPG, the difference isn't THAT big unless you are racing on a circuit for a living. The most important thing is that the car is pleasing to look (and listen) at and you feel cool while driving it.
Hell I wish that the art deco style of cars from the 30's to 50's would come back. Sure the aerodynamics are horrible but the looks are just *chefs kiss*.

Well it depends on what broke 😬! I have a 2020 Camero LT 3.6L V6 jet black with the ZL1 front bumper looks like the Bat mobile 😊 and I love it!
We have all just witnessed a new top gear crew... Those 3 boys work so well together and would make for an awesome series if they were to go that direction lol. I haven't laughed and smiled like that in ages. Matt, Yianni and Sam put the WOW in this video.

For anywaywhojasnt beentoa dragstrip,the surface is essentially like sticky rubber. If your car normally spins in 1st and second and third on the road, it will likely only spin in 1st on the drag strip. Obviously there are exceptions like huge hp fwd.

Especially a tail-happy Mustang. Ford has done a good job with their modular engines even though the 5.0 is loosely based on those engines. Their high revving and respond well to mods.

I love all these cars but this Friday God willing, I get the stage 2 treatment from the dealer (stage 3 in the future!) for my daily driver Redeye and it seems the car will remain competitive against most other bolt on cars...while remaining in warranty!

@@patrickmackinder8616 no the 5.2 Voodoo is in the GT350, the GT500 has the 5.2 Predator lost the flat plain crank but gained a supercharger.
The reason why carwow would do subpar content than Mat's personal channel is that Mat could be paying/on reduced pay so that his personal brand is more valuable in the future. Respect.👍

I'll go old school thank you. My 69 Buick GS with a 70 Buick 455, carburated, stock cast iron intake, stock trans and converter, on street radials, makes 430hp at the crank no less, and runs 12.90 flat. So .2 sec you gain over me with 400 extra hp?
This was actually one of the best videos you guys have made in awhile from a laugh and good times standpoint. It's not always about the cars. Matt and Yanni have such good chemistry and it shows in every episode.

Everything is always perfect but when you add Yianni and Sam its just comedy gold and more entertaining. More love and life to the three. Amazing car content. Currently the best and most interesting car review team in the world.

@@lloydmorganmoore7810 i've had a several chevy trucks and cadillacs and cars ...they all had either electrical issues or engine issues especially the silverado. I had my last silverado 2019 had lifter issues which come to find out a ton have same issue...go figure.
