Thank you for the two videos on VFD and spindle. I do want to mention two things you should be aware of. I believe you used 18/4 fire wire and I believe it is solid as opposed to stranded. If so, it is going to fatigue and you will end up with a break that will shut down your spindle. Stranded would take the abuse of constant bending and unbending. Also, you should use the spare conductor to the spindle to ground the spindle to the VFD. The x gantry does not have a good connection to the y-axis.

cica322 I ended up switching the wire. It did end up getting damaged about 30 hours into using the spindle. I have now switched to stranded

Firstly, thanks for your videos. My company (at my request after seeing another of your videos) just purchased an X-Carve and the ultimate upgrade kit from CNC4Newbie. We also bought the 220V 2.2kw Huanyang VFD & spindle combo from
amazon. Secondly, I do have one question. I haven’t been able to find much literature on the operating characteristics for the X-controller I/O. Having said that, I’m curious as to why you used the X-controller’s PWM output instead of the 0-10V output to control VFD frequency reference. My current setup (which I have not tested yet), is using the flood coolant output as the forward run command for the VFD and the 0-10V output as the frequency reference. I’m not using the PWM output at all, so I was wondering if there was some advantage to using it over the 0-10V output. THANKS!!

You need to ground the shield at vfd end to eliminate interference.

Just one question. My controller bored only has a positive and negative dc motor port where I am told my vfd should connect to. Where does VI go and where does ACM go
