    ➡️ In this video, I am going to show you how I achieved my peacock pose easily without fear.
    This is an unconventional but clever way to start practicing your Mayurasana.

    Caution! Practice this exercise in a progressive manner, otherwise you will badly hurt your lower back which may take several months to recover.
    This thing happens to me, I tried to do this in my starting few attempts and end up with a strain in lower bach which makes me suffer for 6 months, later, I developed ankylosing spondylitis which was revealed in blood test reports but that is related to genetics also.
    So I request everyone please do this with slow progression and attention.

    There’s a reason why all poses have correct form. And while you’re commended for coming up with a variation that comes close, what you may not have felt or noticed yet - but in time you will - is the added stress and tension you’re placing in the neck and therefore the stem of the brain and the spine. The head to the tailbone should follow a straight line - as in downward facing dog. You should look to the floor not arch up. That will release the added tension in the neck and help you keep a straight line from the head to the toes, while ensuring your entire body is almost parallel with the floor. You’re still much higher at the feet end, but you’re almost there. There’s also a reason that the elbows are placed at the navel... because it’s the core of the emotional centre and contracting that area releases emotional tension that you will bypass by having your elbows so far to each side of your body. The navel is also your center of gravity. But let’s face it, at times we all try to avoid emotions, and this is just one way of doing it. Let your poison become an elixir.
    Keep at it and try using a block below your forehead and another under your toes to help you balance and feel, in your body, what a straighter parallel line feels like, as you inch your way there. Breathing in deeply and holding the breath will give you added stability. This is a very difficult pose to master. But once you do you’ll be able to comfortably hold it for 10-15 seconds or longer. Aim for prefect seconds and you’ll find that progress becomes more visible and therefore more inspiring. Otherwise great video, great energy, and great intention.

    I appreciate your passion, but this is not the right way to do the pose. Elbows being in the middle has its purposes and is the most important part of the pose.
    4. its harder to hold the position, because of more parts being contracted, than simply placing your elbows by your side(ribcage as support)
    3. the circulation is improved more, leading to more health benefits and also increased elimination of toxins
    2. the elbows stimulate the abdominals to a much higher degree by pressing it and also by the contraction of the abdominals themselves:
    1. leading to the primary digestive benefits of this pose, which are touted in traditional yoga texts.

    • @AlbaYogaAcademy
      @AlbaYogaAcademy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment. I have to respectfully disagree. Most yoga practitioners in ancient times were men because women were forbidden to do the asanas. Men don't have breasts making it easier for them to put their arms that close together. I feel the "release of toxins" is an unsubstantiated claim made up to subjugate women.

  • @iodhewawhe3100
    @iodhewawhe3100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    this pose has no benefit if you do it this way.
    elbow should be tucked in at the solar plexus instead on the sides of lower abdomen.
    they way you do is much easier and precisely why it is useless because the weight isnt concentrated on the plexus which brought the benefits due to directly activating the area between navel & chest.
    if you do as i say, immediately there's a burning sensation on the plexus.
