Their "Hyper800" kit on the McLaren MP4-12C focuses on improved cooling and airflow, and makes 840 crank HP using the stock turbochargers. "The ultimate sleeper when you wanna hit the road". I had to pause the video and make sure he really just referred to his McLaren as a sleeper.
I mean yeah people know its fast. But People who don't know its modified aren't gonna know what's hit then
I like how Matt gives props to the motorcycle rider getting his knee down on that turn. I think if you really love driving cars and go-fast vehicles in general, then you should have at least some appreciation for motorcycles.

yeah if you like going fast, cruising, or hooning then you will like a motorcycle but trust me it's a curse when you first get on, you'll never wanna get off

Absolute weapon, I actually really like the front end look of the 12C
The 650S looks pretty ugly. The P1's front end didn't translate too well, with the partially fake grilles on the front.
Maybe it's just me but it's also the best sounding out of all the Mclarens

Amazing. Thats the fastest one take i have seen i think, not because of the figures, because of the shear speed going down the road. Massively impressive. And yes, dude was super calm considering the speeds Matt was going. I would guess he hit 150+ several times. 30 grand on top of a used 12C makes it a no brainer for a considered well off buyer. Great video Matt, these just keep getting better.
It was awesome to be with Matt & Thad this day. What these guys have done with the 12C and other is unreal. All I can say, is WOW!

I am always amazed how a smaller company can beef these super cars up. You would think how in the world is it possible to make these things faster. Kudos to these companies who work so hard.

I have always thought to myself that the 12C-s sound much better than the newer models but this has to be the best sounding 12C I have ever heard, that's how good it is...

I still enjoy going fast. But the cars are legitimately too fast for normal drivers now. If you're not fucking Randy Pobst, you really have no reason to be driving an 800 HP McLaren. These cars are so fast that they scare me, and I'm a very conservative driver. The internet has made it much worse, because people are so desensitized to it, but to be in some of these cars is equal parts thrilling and terrifying. Put it this way: I trust myself not to do something to stupid, no matter how fast the car. But there are less than 5 people on the planet with which I'd ride right seat in one of these things.

Hey I have been watching your videos for quite a long time now. You definitely drove this car GOOD JOB! Do most people give you the clear to drive their cars all out? I feel that sometimes you tend to take it easy, I also understand that you are on public road. There was a moment were you went silent that showed how fast the car really was :)

I'd like to see this compared to Fabspeed/EVOMS' 488 GTB 750 package. They're putting down 630 lb-ft of torque to the wheels also, but on 93 octane pump gas.

sorry, but an 800 HP mclaren under your right foot can be very distracting when someone is trying to tell you about intake temperatures.

I've driven a bone stock 2012 12C Spyder and it was mind-blowing. Power delivery was effortless and butter smooth. Suspension in Track, power-train in Race. So much giggity...
I can only imagine what this car feels like.

Appreciate your asking some uncomfortable questions; Anthony Bourdain is a master at this technique where he never apologizes for asking the question, but usually prefaces it with something to take the bite off then adds a bit of charm; it's extremely effective.

I wonder how much the microphone altered the sound but in the exterior shots, the exhaust sound was quite deep and throaty compared to the stock exhaust and I liked it.

Good numbers for stock turbos. did you measure the turbo speeds when remapping and cyl pressures. also when you split the engine cooling from the charge coolers did you use a stand alone coolant pump for the charge coolers or did you carry on using the split water pump..

Saw this car Wednesday at UMC in Utah while I was at Ford Racing School.
Amazing run matt u kno it would be cool if One take had like a sister show for tuner shops to do a head to head or time attack battle.. Just an idea if its within the budget I know this kinda thing cost to get permission and stuff. But i enjoy these One takes a lot with these Cars that are tuned so well.. Would be cool if there was like a head to head for tuners :-). Keep doing what your doing your putting these guys as well as others on the map and to that big KU to you and your team !!!
We just filmed a 5-car tuner shootout for /DRIVE. The logistics of it were a fucking nightmare. But the videos should be cool. It's INSANELY expensive to do something like that. So please watch it.
Yea I figure it prob would have been headache and as far as it being expensive that wouldn't surprise me either. Hopefully in the near future something can brew up similar to what best motoring in japan had back in the day with shootouts actually happening on the track all at once. Like you said its a matter of it being in the budget so hey we shall see but I can see it in the future with you and the one take team.If I had the funds I would def pool in :-). Matt, you should give reviews on what the best cars are for the prices. Handeling, steering, shifting, power bands...what you consider the best attributes from the best cars. I currently have a 15 Focus ST, but i need a 2nd RWD car...c5 vette or what would you suggest?

And Matt... 50k just gets you the base TT kit from UGR on a Lamborghini. You want the big boy stage you'll be paying upwards 80-100k.
$80-100k?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, the X Kits from UGR are MULTIPLE hundreds of thousands of dollars. $50k gets you a bolt-on kit, 750whp. For the cars they build around 2000+whp are half a million and up.
Half a million? Lmao! No! You do realize you can go on their website and look up the kits with prices.... Right? The TT kit for the Aventador was 150k. Now the race kits 2000+ hp..... I dunno, it says call for price.

So clarification, on the stock car the intercooler cooling and the engine cooling run on the same circuit? Seems strange that McLaren and Ricardo would've left that on the table since most tuner air-water systems I've seen are separate. I wonder what the 488 or the 911 Turbos do or are those air/air?
Is this the same road you tested the 1000hp Porsche Turbo on? I know this is one of the fast roads. $140k for a 12C is a steal.

Hey matt, what's the cam setup you're using? Stability on that thing is beautiful.
Just GoPro 4 Black on 1080/60 with a Filmtools 6" three-axis suction mount. There's nothing particularly special about it. Most people simply underestimate the difference in how stable your shot is from the standard crappy gopro suction mount to the $150 pro-grade mount.
Great car! Gosh, I wish you were able tell the shear power from watching a video. Maybe because the car isn't making intense turbo noises.

Torque is kinda low on stock version... That's always the feeling coming from an R8 Ultra. Good try to solve that.
