    I stopped going to a garage when there is nothing obviously wrong with my car. One time I thought I had scored a great deal on a Volvo XC70. Bought it for 3k. All was working well. I thought I'd just get a quick check at a Volvo dealer. They came up with something like 7k in repairs. I ran away all desperate thinking my car was a wreck. But than a friend of mine said: What are you winding about. Everything works. Just drive it and enjoy. I had the car for 2 more years without spending a dollar on it and than sold it for 3k 😂

    • @maheenjillani
      @maheenjillani ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Eh while this would work for a 3K beater, I wouldn't recommend this strategy in the long run for most cars. Yes it'll run but cars need preventative maintenance and regular fixes. You can drive on leaking struts but is it safe? You can ignore motor mounts but at one point, you'll start damaging things. That $7K repair bill probably recommended replacement of a lot of parts that needed replacement from a while ago.

    • @noth606
      @noth606 ปีที่แล้ว

      7k is no wreck, go through the list and be selective. I used to have a very tuned and modded VW new beetle, I'd have her checked every 6mo-1yr and just take care of the small stuff before it becomes bigger, bill was rarely over 1k$ including filters, flushes etc. Consider it was a heavily modded and tuned car, driven hard at times, but I always took care of stuff in time and kept on top of it, thus avoidin bigger hits. Biggest was 3k or so, motor mounts, all belts, hoses, fluids, plugs and complete checkup.

    • @pault151
      @pault151 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, when that old timing belt lets go and totals your engine, you won't be driving and enjoying it. Why was it so cheap?

Oh can't forget Gintani destroying all types of Mclarens like DDE's car when it blew up and caught fire doing rolling burnouts but they thought it was an oil line 🤣 Then they tell a bunch of fast and furious fanboys it's Mclarens fault that their low 9 second stock car exploded rather than take the blame for grenading engines left and right with all types of nonsense promises of e85 1000hp 8 second 1/4 mile rolling burnout antilag map switching.... Oh yeah your shits blowing up fo sho 🤣 Then LSC says in the video that cannonball is the "best mclaren shop in the world" but they can't even get an afr on the old MP4 and they farm out their tune to M engineering on a teamviewer session 🤣 Like bruh ... Then I read these comments and it's parrots and fanboys with all types of theories 🤣 Propaganda really does work... Yeah it's the rod's fault... the same rod that was in the car when you tuned it right? sooo you put in a tune that blew the motor... got it! ROFL

    One of the best and most satisfying things to do with a used luxury vehicle with genuine leather is to fill in the creases on the seat and have them re-dyed. The seats will look brand new and that look will last tens of thousands of miles if cared for.
    As far as the steering wheel, it depends on the car. I've found that some cars it's actually cheaper just to buy a brand new replacement and sell the old one, because you truly get that brand-new car experience with the wheel.

    McLaren engines are made to perform as they leave the factory.
    They need lightness to hit those high RPMs. Try and rev your LS to 9k and I'm sure you will get the same outcome as those broken rods and Pistons from those modified McLaren engines

      ROFL... yup... The internet hype and marketing always seems not to include that part in the brochures... Like the time DME (uses M-engineering aka dynospectrum back then) destroyed SS717s car at wanna go fast and it was going clack clack clack and smoking all the way down the airstrip... but SS said it was an oil line and the car was NEVER seen again ROFL... or like the time M- Engineering detonated Feddys 675LT while he was showing off to his friends and they blamed the oil temp and the construction of the motor 🤣or the time M blew up Randy's Grey Mclaren 720s coupe... or that Senna they jacked up the motor on... or this car th-cam.com/video/WK1NysX0ubs/w-d-xo.html ROFL... Yeah it's the rod's fault... the same rod that was in the car when you tuned it right? sooo you put in a tune that blew the motor... got it! ROFL

    I would definitely look into the oil change interval thing. Mobile 1 claims the filters can almost go about 20,000 miles and the oil easily 10,000 miles. As long as there is no contaminants or it breaking down like natural oil does it should be fine. Older non-synthetic oil degrades under heat where the synthetic doesn’t so you would have to change it every 3000 miles. I tend to change it at about 8K miles instead of 10k just because, but would love to see what Amsoil says about it.

    • @kavinskysmith4094
      @kavinskysmith4094 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      3000 miles, no more no less as the only people telling you otherwise want you to buy a new car or lease a new one every 3 to 5 years, and oil and filters are less than the cost of a new engine, plus also when the engine starts let it do its start up procedure where it automatically revs high for about a minute or two and then drops down to get the oil to the bearings, then drive off
      which will probably do more to save the engine in general than anything else.

    • @aeroman5239
      @aeroman5239 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      5k mile OCIs on any engine w/DI. DI tends to cause fuel dilution of the oil - I have seen in many UOAs across different engines, and it's just not worth pushing the oil life in these low bearing clearance engines when the oil is dropping a viscosity grade due to fuel dilution.

      These other guys obviously are not mechanics. The oil and additive packages as well as filters being much improved does make 10k no problem. If you change it every 3k not only is it a PITA but your creating 3 times the waste oil and dirty filters and also means 3 times the production needed. The 3000 started when quaker state sold a non-detergent oil that almost ruined them. remember the "Quaker State Motor" comments and the sludged up engines that resulted?Save your money and the environment and your time. 10k hurts nothing!
