Jay leno"s Garage is the best show on TH-cam No other show comes close to the amount of content that he puts out with each one of his episodes. Its not just about the cars, its also about the amazing people that are behind the making of these works of art and amazing machinery, and the history of it all, and he grasps each and everyone of those points every time. Great Series Jay, keep up the Great work. I just wanted to let you know all of us enjoy your work and this hobby, thanks for sharing!
Nice car. As a poor taxi driver, owning one of these will always be a dream but last night I was given some hope. My six year old daughter said when she grows up she will buy me one!!! I cant wait!!!!
TK421ps thanks for the advice but I'm too poor to invest in anything. My six year old has more money than me. Anyway I hope you and your family are well. We ate dog food for our Christmas lunch.
12 years later and I still love the 12C... An elegant, timeless design and the best sounding V8 they made other than the SLR. I want one bad, I might just have to get one.
It's great to binge-watch Jay's car vids. You can see the progression of a particular make, or an era, or just go year by year and see the whole gamut of car history. The worst thing about these videos is knowing you will never, ever have these cars, this collection, and the time and money to enjoy them. Oh well, good for Jay - and a big thank-you to him for letting the Walter Mitty in all of us have a go with some really great and historic vehicles.
McLaren MP4-12C was developed in Top Gear's test track, still got beaten down by Ferrari 458 Italia ( Check Top Gear's and Fifth Gear's review ) but salute to Jay's spirit as a fan he still bought the McLaren. This is exactly how you show your loyalty!
he WORKED his way up, the old fashioned way, that tends to make people a bit more respectful to others as well, so that contributes significantly to his success, being a "good guy"
This car to me, is an amazing accomplishment. This was their very first mass produced car and they hit it out of the park. Their very first car, announcing ahead of time that it would compete with the Ferrair 458. And no one thought they'd come close. And what did McLaren do? They hit it out of the park!
They have some reliability issues, especially on the earlier models before they changed the name to just 12c. Trabsmissions go out very fast, the door opening thing on the outside was very very fickle, to the point people couldn't get in their cars they changed it to a button on later models. But regardless, these are slept on, and you can currently get really good deals on these. I've seen them go for as low as 75k. That's a hell of a lot of car for the money. For a car that started at 250K its insane value. It's competitor at the time, the 458 Italian also started around 250K, and the mclaren had more power and faster 0-60, but the 458 still goes for crazy money like 300K and up.
i was speaking too quickly, i love May. As a matter of fact i got his autograph today!! clarkson incredibly funny and yes he does know his stuff. hes been reviewing cars for longer than i have been alive. i need to check my comments before i put them down... Anyway, jay has his day job, but the Top Gear guys do live the car life.
A great car I hope you enjoy it Jay. The Ferrari may seem more evocative but there's something about the MC that I really respect and admire. I also think its very handsome and unlike some Ferrari designs of late I think it looks like it could of been made at any time in the last 15 years. I mean that in a good way. It will age well and will always appear to be current, in many ways just like the F1.
McLarens are amazing. after driving the MP4 for the 1st time, I absolutely fell in love with it. Best car I've ever driven. Far far superior in drive quality than any lamborghini or ferrari, in my opinion
This is my car of the moment. The right blend of technology, performance, quality, pedigree, road-ability and looks. Brilliant. The Lamborghini Gallardo is not too far behind.
You are correct. Many car companies use the TG track to test their cars. In fact there was a car (I cannot remember which it was) that was specifically modified to perform on the TG track.
People say the 720s and 765lt are overengineered. This car started it all. The suspension and the corner capability of the car without sacrificing ride comfort plus the power it had, was out of this world
I remember coming home from vacation, in the out skirts of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, I seen a silver McLaren MP4-12C and a silver Audi R8 racing each other down the freeway. Best street race I ever saw, although brief due to the insane speed they raced at.
Nice Google search sir, but Mr. Leno was referring to the McLaren F1. Which he owns, and has a 6.1 liter v12. So there is no mistake. He knows more about cars than any of us will hope to know. Plus he is very well off which makes me incredible jealous. I hope to own just own high end sports car one day.
i live near the top gear test track and where the mclaren factory is and when they come off the production line they head down to the track for testing in groups of three what a job that is driving these everyday.
I agree with Jay man, if you haven't had the privilege of driving a car that feels the road where you are almost laying down in it with handling and suspension meant for performance, its impossible to appreciate just how big a difference it really is compared to the average grocery getter. The down side is I have had more problems and break downs in high performance cars than anything else. They are also "high" maintenance.
Yeah! you're right, I heard it again and it's clear he's talking about his F1. In the end it's my mistake, and I'm sorry for it, nevertheless I believe I didn't point it with the criticism you're implying that I did because I realize that he has a "Master Degree" in cars, far beyond what I know, but mistakes anyone commits. Once again Mr. Leno, thaks for sharing.
True, it is more of a personal preference, but the vast majority of reviews I've read have said the McLaren is easier to live with because the suspension is more comfortable for driving around town & the gas consumption is better. However, the 458 Italia does look a hell of a lot better.
if only the paddle shifters were on the column, so i always knew where to grab for a gear. i had a VW with paddle shifters on the wheel, which means when turning you either have to pay careful attention to how many rotations you've done, or just use the standard shifter
McLaren MP4 12-C is wonderful to see: the opening of the doors is a middle ground between the SLS and Lamborghini, the handles are touch to open them to improve aerodynamics, and parked near a F430 Scuderia, disfigures the Ferrari. soon my video of the McLaren will be available in my channel. thanks!!
I had no idea that this car sounded oh so right! its look doesn't match the exhaust note at all but it fits just right! I hope the F1 successor uses a lot of this same tech..coupled with a rumored 800 hp..that car is gonna be sick nasty!
I would choose this car over ANY other newer supercar, if I went a few years older I would choose the Ford GT. This 3.8L V8 must have a flat plane crank, it has that sort of two four cylinders sound instead of the more thrummy sound of an American style cross plane V8. Thanks for this Jay :)
Looks like a fun ride. I saw Skyfall yesterday - If you don´t have an old Aston Martin like the original Bond car you need to get one of those (And the guns and rocket launchers might be a good idea driving in LA)
And on more thing that people dont know is that its an uncomfortable car to get in and out of because if you notice when the door opens the door sill is like a foot wide so you have to either swing into the car (without hitting your head) or sit on the sill and wiggle your way onto the seat...
I love that Jay has made it possible for us to almost live his car experiences vicariously. He's not showing off.....he's sharing.

love how he cracks the camera man up at 1:40

4 years on my priorities have now changed. But thanks for the tip anyway
Sadik Meah no problem. Still drive taxis?
This car has to have the most beautiful paint work I've ever seen. Love the colour!
12 years later and I still love the 12C... An elegant, timeless design and the best sounding V8 they made other than the SLR.
I want one bad, I might just have to get one.
After more than 10 years it still looks gorgeous. Much better than the newest ones
i love these videos jay you entertain me whenever im bored. keep up the good work!

Could not agree more, he just sounds like a sales man
I hope that this always stays as the top comment for this video, because that is so very true and the reason for why I started liking Jay Leno
he WORKED his way up, the old fashioned way, that tends to make people a bit more respectful to others as well, so that contributes significantly to his success, being a "good guy"

The color fits the car.......incredible!
Jay, that smile on your face says it all...
you do such a great videos about cars, passion cant be copied. thank you jay leno.
Love the Volcano Orange paint.
true man! Has a thousands of cars but wears the same clothes all the time. Dedication and Love at its best.
priorities done right
Robin Antonio priority should be giving 1 car away to fans everyday till he dies.... just regular cars of his choice
100s for sure over 100 motorcycles
OR MAYBE HE HAS A CLOSET FULL OF DENIM. I BUY A BUNCH OF THE SAME COLOR SHIRTS SO I DON'T HAVE TO THINK ABOUT WHAT TO WEAR.
Well when you have the money that Jay Leno has you can wear what you want and dont care about the fashion police.
The best car in Jay Lenos garage!
This is the definition of a dream car. Heres to the dream and I hope we all get to realize what its like to own and drive an MP4 12C!
Mclaren F1 ,Mclaren SLR ,Mclaren MP-12C ,Mclaren P1 & buggati Veyron Grand sport this guy is living a dream :-)
It looks better and better everytime I watch a video or pic of it!
a very underated car alot of people now hate on it no reason

Just drove on 1600 miles from Detroit to FL, Amazing car, And comfortable!
+jerusdc no damage from all the pot holes and bodies all over the road in Michigan?
Those roads are terrible!!!
i agree, Jay Leno knows cars. old and new inside and out.
A great car I hope you enjoy it Jay. The Ferrari may seem more evocative but there's something about the MC that I really respect and admire. TOP GEAR TEST TRACK RIGHT THERE!
Hey I just noticed that the 12C's rim design is inspired by the original F1. Cool.
1:40 Camera man laughing. Love it! To funny.
I really wish i was personal friends with Jay. Id just go to his garage every day and drool over everything he has
Thanks Jay, that last squirt bought a smile to my face as well! and what a sound, I bet in real life it would be magnitudes better.

+Adam Pardoe It's spelt Dunsfold.
We know!! Enough!!!!!
Thanks I'll check it out, this channel is the best. I mean Jay is the best wealthy person I know about.
Saw a white one of these in Vancouver today, looks absolutely badass.
not really a McLaren fan .but this one I must say is truly incredible looks awesome
Mclaren is also my favorite manufacturer
Another great video by Mr. Leno! I have heard nothing but great things about the McClaren suspension.
i live near the top gear test track and where the mclaren factory is and when they come off the production line they head down to the track for testing in groups of three what a job that is driving these everyday.
This is one of the best supercars ever made IMO
The color of the mclaren is amazing.
01:48 hah was that a giggle from the cameraman?

I can't understand the English guy.
And. I am English !!

Love you have the McLaren and just behind it the Aerial Atom.
2 great English driving cars.
i hope to see a video of the new P1 love McLaren everything they do is top notch
McLaren is just the most amazing car company out now.
No burnout ? Jay you own it !
12C - the classic
Yeah! you're right, I heard it again and it's clear he's talking about his F1. Favorite supercar in the best color!
Makes me proud to be an Englishman and a Motorsport addict
Great looking, Good MPG, Sound puts a smile on your face, Love Mclarens !

it is,its where they did their testing and development, its just down the road from me.50 miles away.
Jay you're so funny and I don't see how some people don't laugh when they're there.

for a celebrity jay leno really knows his cars and because im british maybe i like him more because he loves mclaren lol
I want to go to jays garage and look at all of the fabulous cars he owns

WOW Chris Goodwin works for mclaren now, i remember when he was a BTCC privateer star, what a guy!
Jay leno is a role model.
i saw an orange 12C on the PCH last month while heading north in my s2000...pretty or not, it was certainly unforgettable
I have the 12-c project alpha #4. The 12-c is underrated car even to today's McLaren standards.
At 4:35 two brake calipers on the rear disk , what is it? ?? ABS Caliper? Some sort of brake vector? ??? Looks mysterious! !!!

TOP GEAR TEST TRACK!!!
Lucky bloke jay.
Im from England UK 🇬🇧
And im green with envy lol
Lucky bloke.
This is the simplest thing but I'm sure it's rarely said: thank you Mr. Leno.
wasn't that the top gear test track
Yes! That’s where McLaren tested the prototype :) Jeremy mentions that when he reviews the car
This is my dream car.
Can’t help to see the Honda RVT RC51 jay!! That’s the bike I reached my top speed on. 168 mph and just held it wide
Need to see more of these on the street.
Good call, think you're right, didn't know about that one. The raked roofline fooled me
i like the looks. Its kinda classy and elegant
Thanks DJ.
I pick up number 4 tomorrow!!
The most under-rated mclaren.
And on more thing that people dont know is that its an uncomfortable car to get in and out of because if you notice when the door opens the door sill is like a foot wide so you have to either swing into the car (without hitting your head) or sit on the sill and wiggle your way onto the seat...
A beautiful car in a beautiful color!
Engine sounds great.
top gear test track! i forgot thats were it was tested
1:40 so true chuckles!
