- Barely 24 hours after a shooting that killed two people, Bangkok's Siam Paragon mall opened its doors at 10am on Oct 4. The Straits Times Thailand correspondent Tan Tam Mei observes the first day of operations after the tragedy.

The 2 people he killed were in the female restroom who were in hiding with nowhere to go. The moment gunshots were heard from around the restroom area, people started running and everyone else just followed suit. Imagine how much more deaths he could've caused if he had started shooting randomly outside at the main floor instead of the restroom. What a cowardly act.
You do know that the kid is mentally ill. Is a random place he chose . Unlucky. He probably going to be in isolation and be free years down the road.
@@cathdan Yeah, he had no goals whatsoever. Luckily he only shoot in the bathroom which cause the people outside to flee causing only 2 deaths instead of 10 or 20.

@@zulucruz664 The news report I read was that the women were in the restroom. They heard a gunshot outside and saw him outside the restroom. They ran in to hide in the cubicles. That's when they got shot.

From the information I gather (if correct), the police arrived very swiftly actually. However, this shopping mall is huge & not empty, with dozens & hundreds of shops, filled with hundreds of storage cabinets/spaces covered with goods, fitting rooms, and toilets with cubicles, etc. The mall even has a hotel near/connected to it and the shooter has already move to that hotel when he was caught... Chasing after a dangerous mobile target in such a large shopping mall environment is a challenge. You won't know where he is unless he is constantly "declaring" his latest location, example walking in open spaces or firing or making loud noises... Also, searchers have to first ensure their own while searching , and has sufficient fire arms & protective gears before commencing the search. If the search is for a lost non-dangerous person, would probably be much easier & faster.
The police took some time to find the gun man just because no one believed the gun man is so young.
The shooter is a teenager?? And he surrender willingly... unlike in other countries shooting, the shooter will eventually killed himself.. so creepy.. What's wrong with this young shooter? Is he trying to send a message?

It's a third world country, those cops aren't exactly paid as much as what SPF earns. Plus bangkok traffic is always heavy no matter the time.
You could be a detective assigned to lapd, calling a "shots fired" , and still the help wont arrive in time...

I was there yesterday and today. Today it was fuller than ever. There was a big fashion event. But I still dont get it, some say he killed 2, some say 3. I talked to somebody I know in the mall and he told me a shop worker has been killed. I assume from the Louis Vuitton store next to the restrooms. Its very hard to find infos about the victims.

On March 9, 2023, a shooter attacked the Hamburg-Winterhude congregation after the midweek meeting had concluded. After killing and injuring several of my brothers and sisters, the attack was cut short after police forces entered the Kingdom Hall. The perpetrator then took his own life.
Sadly, 4 my brothers, 2 sisters, and an injured sister’s unborn child were killed
2 my brothers and 7 sisters were injured.

He bought a gun that can only shoot blanks but send it to a guy that can modify the gun to shoot actual bullets! He premeditated this whole thing! The police/government have been hunting many of these ppl though!

In case you've never read up on age of criminal responsibility, Thai law states it is until age of 12. 12 to 15 also has legal immunity but they will have to be subject to measures including rehabilitation.

Contrary to what @fidelcatsro or so many other commentators have to advocate on executing the boy, I take a very different view, so feel free to flame me or disagree if you want. I don't care what the majority in the comment section thinks ought to be right.
Just because majority thinks this way doesn't always mean that it must be correct or socially accepted.
Are we ignoring that the courts exist for a reason? Yes, people will try to argue that the rule of law is a lot weaker in Thailand compared to other countries and advocate for mob mentality rules to return.
Lives are lost and broken, which is saddening. However, this does not mean that we should let anger dictate the way we deal with this culprit.
This is no excuse for people to tell the authorities what to do with their jobs. It's not as if we are facing total collapse of society and breakdown of law and order, so stop with this convenient scapegoating or pushing for extremely harsh punishments just for the sake of doing so. Seriously.
Death penalty is very. Justifiable for a lot of crimes. This was a kid but he shud still be locked up forever

It's not Thailand fault, it's the shooters fault. Like 9/11 they tried there best to prevent these stuff but terrorist found a way to bypass it. However, Thailand has been sued by a-lot of people in this incident.
