It’s very sad this is happening on this part of the world. Thailand is usually so safe…
Security is lax not because this kind of event is rare, it's because it has literally never happened before. But you can be sure they will step up security after this. At least for some time.
apparently it has happened before... pretty sure this was one scenario that's in the textbook...
The last one was at korat, whereby we always go there for our exercise .
3 years back a soldier went on a rampage and left 30 dead in a Bangkokmall..never happened before?
You def have a short memory as just 3 years ago, there was a mass shooting in Thailand where a disgruntled soldier gunned down 30 people and the authority were slow to act.
Shooting definitively happened before but not for this mall.
0:07: 🔫 A 14-year-old boy entered a mall in Bangkok wearing military-like clothing and started shooting, resulting in the evacuation of the mall and swift apprehension of the suspect by the police.
0:07: The shooting occurred between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. local time.
0:44: The suspect was a 14-year-old boy who did not resist arrest.
1:09: No further information has been officially confirmed.
1:39: 🔫 A shooting inside a popular mall in Bangkok raises concerns about security and gun control.
1:39: The mall operators have metal detectors but no bag checks.
2:02: The incident brings back memories of a shooting rampage a year ago.
2:32: This is the first test for the new prime minister.
3:04: ! A 14-year-old boy with a firearm entered a popular mall in Bangkok, raising questions about security and impacting Thailand's image as a tourist destination.
3:04: There will be questions about security and how a 14-year-old boy was able to enter the mall with a firearm.
3:18: The timing of the incident is crucial as Thailand is trying to attract more tourists, especially from China.
3:43: The government needs to address both security concerns and reassure the world that business is as usual.
Recap by Tammy AI
For the last 20+ years, Siam Paragon has had checkpoints with metal detectors and screening/security staff at all entrances/exits.
Not sure how something like this could happen.
From the testimony of the guard, the assailant walked past the metal detector and immediately pulled out a gun and fired at the guard. Fortunately, the guard dodged in time.
I hope the security and policing of the Malls there would be increased from now on with those metal detectors at every entrance.
Need 💰
I've been to Bangkok a few times and I always questioned why they have metal detector at the entrance of malls, public buildings, train stations... if they barely check out bags...
They're probably out of service.
I bet you that 😂
My condolences to the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy and strength and a speedy recovery to those who were injured 😢😢. It's sad to see that we are no longer safe anywhere. This bastard should go to prison for life, after killing innocent people. 😡
Traumatised! I was also about to head to Siam Paragon for shopping! But thanks to the 🌧️. I had to cancel the plan.
Go ahead😂😂😂😂😂.

.. this incident in Thailand indeed raise safety question since they had another mass shooting in 2021, where 30 died , also in a mall too.
This kind of incident would often occur if firearms were easily obtained. It would be better to tighten. restrictions on ownership of firearms.
Yeah, in this case the gun was a modified blank gun. So it easy to obtain it through online website.
But the price is around 5,000-10,000 THB, quite expensive.

US has great influence
It's about time Thailand should have security guards in public establishments like malls, hotels, restos, etc and check people's bags before letting them enter.
@@pas4585 why?
@@Febrinasvlogsit's useless, that's why. The metal detector won't stop the gunman from shooting the security guard first once they find out.
They do ,you walkthrough metal detectors… I was just at that particular mall
Yes, but at least it helps deter or discourage prospective harmful elements from carrying out their plans if they know these security measures.
Another solution is to regulate gun laws---they should have stringent rules on gun ownership--so not anybody can own one.

Shooting, cannabis, connection to Myammar/Cambodia KK zone. My impression to Thailand has dropped to very low.
If he had been smoking cannabis he definitely wouldn't want to go out and shoot someone. He'd just be chilling at home so...
Shooting everywhere ! I wonder where these firearms come from .
Definitely not from America.
Some one on facebook sold it too
The security guards are unable to deter Terrorists / gunmen attacks they r not trained / underpaid to take such a high risk challenging job
Consider deploying police / soldiers to scan entry for time being
Similar to what Singapore has been doing in a while and most recently South Korea a few months ago in light of their stabbings.
But if not for those incidents, some people might think that armed responders are there for 'wayang', sadly speaking.
14 year old boy ! Too young
Thailand should ban guns like other countries
Time for Siam Paragon (and Icon Siam, as well) to place metal detectors at the entrances...
The future culprit will just shoot through the metal detectors.
Useless
They do have metal detectors but they just don't check you even if the detectors go off. They need the security guards to actually check bags if the detectors do go off
Those detectors go off even if you carry keys and coins 🙄
Yes, I was there before pandemic and I was never searched carrying my cell phone, a portable battery plus keys and coins... When walking into the mall...
They are too lax and relaying only on metal detectors. Sometimes it's not accurate.. In Philippines, security guards really checks every person who enters the establishments by checking the bags and tell you to remove your caps and shades.. Some of the malls also has K9 dogs in entrance of the mall..

Like that gonna stop anything that kid has already premeditated that he's literally a gun addict
@@Suddenly_Lemon
it's so ironic that he can be charged with premeditated murder by the police yet he is confirmed a mental health patient at a hospital before this tragic incident. moreover what you said contradicts the police's version of story in news reports that he had nervous breakdown.
it is a lot better to wait for psychiatrists to determine his condition and thereafter the courts to issue their verdict on the matter.
We're not medically trained psychiatrists after all and plus this kid was literally shaking and looking confused as you can see videos of him being interviewed by cops.
So let's not jump straight to conclusions and determine this whole situation from afar when we really lack understanding of the whole situation as foreigners who do not reside in Thailand.
oh one more thing, 50 million people playing COD mobile, 500+ million people playing PUBG or many people watching violent action movies should be "gun addicts" based on your analogy just because there are guns in there and you worry that each and everyone of us will all behave like him when we're stressed.
just because we like something or passionate about something doesn't make us obsessed about wanting to take out our emotions on someone through violence.
thank you America for being the best ‘influencer’…..
The malls have 0 security. You could come in with an rpg and wouldn’t get caught
Just like the traffic lights & signs, the metal detectors in the malls are just decorations only.

By working for ASsumption uni Thailand, chance of being killed is certain. Installed by AU in campus including the teachers’ office is voice tape recorder. Then AU uploaded on social media, teachers’ conversation with friends and family for many years, without teachers’ awareness. This resulted in a deadly incident from robbery to AU teacher.
Why haven’t the police released his details? Are they waiting for a 20 Million bribe from daddy to let him go free first?
the security is so lousy, the security never check the bag of the mall goers. they only check when many people died already hahaha funny....but idot management, the building management must be held liable for this kind of incident.
US more shooting cases
Here's my perspective:
1. Ban/Restriction on offensive items:
People have been calling for ban to firearms or drugs etc in the comment sections whereever I browse similar videos on this tragic incident.
While this might seem to be an obvious solution in banning weapons that cruelly takes away innocent lives, throwing convenient solutions to a complex issue is not going to suffice in deterring unwell people from committing violence via other means.
We need to target other underlying issues (i.e. mental health next point)
2. Mental health
Seems that the mental health system or society is really failing to protect people like him in this case.
Many of the YT comments really show that lack of understanding /empathy for the poor kid even though I do empathise truly with the families of victims.
(BTW I condemn the perpetrator's acts of violence. VIolence is NEVER the answer)
Society needs to get their act together and stop trivialising mental health issues as if this is not their business/nothing they can do about.
3. Name and Shame/Holier than thou attitude
Instead of leaving condolences for the affected victims or at least bring up constructive talking points in addressing such issues, some folks rather use dark humour or talk about how lucky you never went inside the mall.
4. Discrimination
Some commentators try to proclaim SG as having no problems at all and try to transplant their narrow perspectives onto a foreign country but we ignore the fact that SG has its fair share of societal problems. Some can say avoid visiting country XYZ only when things like these happen.
Have people forgotten about what happens in Rotterdam or SK a few months ago too?
How shocking and shame on those commentators. C'mon guys be better than this.
Babies yes, toddlers yes. Don’t think for a second that this is some poor kid just because he’s underage. The kid was well prepared and well aware of his actions, he was calm before and after even when he started to acting like he had some demons.
We have 0 details on his mental health issues so we have to leave it at that but the fact remains that there were innocent victims. This is no longer a domestic case, kid has to deal with china and myanmar. There will be repercussions no matter how rich his daddy is.
IF this kid is concious, we’re looking at a lengthy prison sentence as an adult
As someone from thailand, it’s true. We HAVE a problem, one which will affect tourism to our country. It’s not discrimination and it’s stupid to think that way.
What if he does get away with it? What message would that send to our teenagers? That they could do it without consequences while also getting fame. How bout the world? Risky, super risky
@@muayboran6111
I'm half Thai myself. Sorry for writing long but I'm putting my 2 cents on this. Hopefully everyone affected by this senseless tragedy will emerge stronger from it.
It's true that it might be too early to truly ascertain the mens rea (mental intention) of the kid behind his actions for now. We'll have to wait for the official psychiatric report. Even if this boy was initially charged by cops for premediated murder, there's no choice except wait for the psychiatrist to make known his findings. If he is really deemed insane, then the best solution for his sake and the rest of society is to confine him in a mental institution for the rest of his life.
Like what you've said earlier, he exhibited calmness before carrying out those heinous acts. This is in contradiction to Thai police's official accounts in news reports that he suffered from a mental breakdown. I think that it is really impossible and too far-fetched to completely anticipate what is the next move of these (would be) perpetrators nor ascertain their identities, unless you want to go to the extent in predicting whether people intend to commit crimes in the first place. Hell, I'm not even going to go overboard in engaging in conspiracy theories that Thai police might have been lenient to him since he comes from a rich family or whatever it is.
Even if he is charged by police on the grounds of illegal use of firearm, the setback right now is that he is considered underage in the eyes of Thai law at 14 years old. I've read earlier that the age of criminal responsibility in Thailand is 12. But 12 to 15 year olds do enjoy the same immunity AT THE TIME they commit crimes but court can impose measures including rehabilitation.
I am really baffled by the lax gun controls by the authorities and the vendors, as well as the Thai government's slow response in what could have been a preventable matter after all. Its stunning to think that the Thai government takes it seriously only just because 2 tourists died in this case and they are finally taking action.
Have they really forgotten about tragic incidents in other parts of Thailand in the past including the 2021 Korat massacre and the shooting at a freaking kindergarten? Shocking to think that they would take decisive action only because of money and it doesn't seem to faze them that life is priceless.
Last but not least, incidents like this should never occur again nor should it be a precedent to more copycat incidents all over the globe somehow given the alarming fact he's cited a similar shooting incident in Columbine High School. Once again I wish to stress the fact that I do condemn his actions as irresponsible and dangerous.
All we can hope now is to wait for the final verdict of the mental health experts then let the courts make the verdict on this. I do hope corrective justice will be pursued for everyone's sake.
Thailand should have freedom to bear arms to protect themselves
It's the worst idea to suggest. Freedom to bear arms is the main reason shooting incidents happened in US.
Thai citizens can own arm but not carry out of home. It's for home defense only.
