- On 8th Feb 2020, in the North-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, a soldier shot dead his commanding officer and mother-in-law over a financial dispute. The soldier went on to steal weapons and a Humvee before driving to Terminal 21 Korat Shopping Mall, where he continued his killing rampage. 32-year-old beauty advisor, Ratcharnon Chestnork, was there. He was trapped in an electric control room overnight, and was one of the last people to be rescued before the Thai authorities went in and took out the gunman.

What a strong mindset they have
I was in Korat when it happened..i was lucky the bus i was in was delayed for 30minutes. By the time i walked to the mall from the bus station, the entire city was already on lockdown and i was turned away by police from entering the mall... The entire city turned in a ghost city within the next hour with no one was wanting to venture out as there was unverified news that there were other shootings around the city...it was a difficult time as i had friends waiting for me in the mall. One of them was working in the deli in the supermarket downstair. She was shot dead by the shooter. The rest escaped. I could have been one of those unfortunate victims if my bus was on time. I count my lucky stars....

This guy did a very commendable job in such a horrifying situation not to mention his decision makings in that time.
The way he described the situation I could feel for him..hope him and all the people who were there are doing well and his trauma got better
I remember I was Grade 6, my classmates were discussing about this topic, I only heard it was a huge mass killing and he usually post photos in Facebook, but I didn’t know it was this gruesome
Even now, I feel the anxiety in his voice.

I was at Asok a couple of weeks ago when the shooting happened at Siam. Even though I was safe and several kilometers away there was an ominous feeling of terror and sadness from pretty much everyone. I pray for everyone that has been affected by these terrible acts of violence

Dude we didn't have mass shooting every other monday. I would say in the Siam case first responders do a really good job controlling the situation. The same can't be said for other cases tho. The police home shooting took almost 2 days to end.

It would only make sense for the Thai people to not know whag to do. Took the US a period of time to get adapted to their new norm. Even saying that is disgusting because mass shootings are considered a norm there in the US. Isn’t that embarrassing instead? To see your country in a state of such despair where kids can’t even go to school safe because they worry a guy will come shooting at their school. We’re specifically only talking about safety of students here so no need to mention that your country is richer than them. Can’t even keep track how many shootings you guys had.

The fallacy lies in that most public mass shooter were once good guy with guns, until when they don't, or it was their first crime.
And the Americans would be right. It was the good guys who showed up with guns and stopped him. If some people in that mall had had guns then maybe more deaths could have been prevented.
