I am getting closer to figuring out that nice canon I’ve got. This one had a little exposure wandering and I’m gonna fiddle with the audio. But, I’m getting closer.
A stock 880 can do that all day, easily. A modified 880 can do it even better, and a "high pressure" converted 880 can reach 100 yards easily. I've tested all three and built two high pressure conversions and one modified version, and there's no going back to a stock 880 after that!
I'm on my 4th 880 after 20 years of using them. I use to use the domed Benjamin 10.6 grain pellets but they have been discontinued for years now, same with the 10 grain gold gamo pellets, now I use the whispers and they are 10.5 grain and are now getting harder to find... but those have been the most accurate pellets for me, I pump 6 times and adjust my aim accordingly, i use a 9 power rifle scope these days, I can hit a stopsign continuously at 80 yards. I can hit a dove 50 yards and can even keep the meat clean with a headshot reliably withing 30 yards. I think the whisper pellets are my favorite so far, along with a homemade silencer, all you hear is the plunger hit home and then the impact of the pellet, most of the time you can hit a dove and his buddies just keep grazing, makes getting lunch quick and easy. My favorite thing about this combo is you can watch the pellet fly, it helps you figure out exactly where you need to aim at what range, I don't like springers because they recoil and I cannot see where the pellets fly
Funny I just pulled out my daisy 901 after about a year. Just like the 880 but with a different pump handle. Was testing a variety of pellets open sights at only 15 yards.Tried h&n ftt’s,crosman premier, jsb 8.8,7.3 and 7.8 and some daisy pointed and wad cutters and crosman pointed and hollow points. At only 15 yards they all shot 1/4 inch groups with open sights and stayed the same from 8 pumps down to 3 pumps and at 15 yards at 3 pumps it was still able to hit the same spot without dropping. Perfect little open sight gun for backyard critters or just use 3 pumps to scare them and pop pigeons off my roof.

5:59 "Doesn't have that much power at all, though." I thought that can opened up pretty good. Of, course, you aren't seeing it as close as we are in the video. For these rifles, I think of pigeons, starlings, and such. It looks like plenty of power for those even at 50 yds., but not too much for some pest control inside a barn at closer range. Fun shoot and a fun video.

I shim then end of the barrel with JB Weld, and then use sandpaper to get it to the correct size so you have a nice snug fit. It will improve accuracy.

Happy New Year! I love my 880 with an LDC. I just picked up a Daisy 1101S based off your review, loving it with the open sights. Have you seen the new crosman 362? It’s on my short list.
Nice shooting. Fun video. I have wondered about removing the barrel sleeve off of an 880, and seeing how well a 6"-10" length hollow arrow with the nock removed might shoot when slid over the end of an 880 barrel. In other words, converting the Daisy 880 into an arrow gun of sorts. Be blessed and Happy new year!
It's been done before. Using a stock 880 to do it, you won't get enough power to make it worthwhile as an arrow gun. However, a guy on youtube from Utah converted an 880 by mounting one of those large CO2 canisters and a gate valve, and some other mods to the internal valve body, and he was getting LOTS of power. Putting an arrow straight though his hay bail target at 15 yards. It was very impressive. Slide the arrow over the exposed barrel, cock the gun, open the gate valve briefly to charge the valve body, then fire. Worked great.
@@juanfrank8920 Yes, I believe this is the video I recall seeing. But if I remember correctly, he used a full length arrow. I was hoping a short 6" length might shoot with better power. Apparently not, judging by replies. Thanks guys, happy new year.

@@ohshoot444 I called and Daisy confirmed that the sight-notch, screw, and elevator-riser on the 880 and 901 are indeed the same parts, and will work interchangeably. Thanks!
Hi 👋 my name is Mongo!! I can turn the 880 into precise shooting air rifle!! Iam doing it!! Please give me a shout out in one of your videos please.. luv the 880 !! Sooo .... remove the front sight,,,, this will free float barrel... and barrel will have a lot of movement and not stable for zeroing scopes,,,,you probably heard of this but,,,, after this step take some spray bottle gap filler like ( Great Stuff. ) and shimmy the barrel center best you can and then take filler hose and start to fill right behind the barrel ,where you took the front sight off!! Give this a nice big squirt of the filler and then clean up nice ...This will stiffen up and will stabilize the barrel...then let sit over night,,, then rezero your scope !! I promise you you will hit that 50 yard bulls eye with 177 pellet ..Picking the pellet it likes though,..for sure !! Give me shout out ok 👍🏻!! God bless !! Love life ,, live 2 love ..
Man that was cool, I knew you could hit those cans at 50 yards. But I didn't know it would do it so well with those heavy hammer pellets and only 8 pumps. Aren't those heavy pellets? or not? Anyway, nice shooting! I am wondering though, why the group was a little wide at 35 yards. I'm thinking it's the pellets, because there wasn't much wind, if any. One more thing, why only 8 pumps? I've noticed on mine, that the heavier the pellet, the more power it needs behind it to get it to stabilize properly. Of course that's just an idea, I don't know it's actually true or not. Lol
I think they’re 7.67 grains. Not that heavy. I’ve been experimenting with other pellets and anything over 8 grains doesn’t do so well out further. The reason I chose 8 pumps is I get better consistency with velocity there. If I could get my hands on a few tins of the lighter jsbs I bet it would go on out further easier.
Dude this video was really enjoying. Thanks. I could tell you were having as much fun as I've been having with my Daisy 880 lately. 50 yards is a long shot! Thanks for uploading. Question though, I've been watching a few 880 videos and most of the time people aren't pumping ten times. I always pump ten times because that's what the max is and I want the max power, distance, velocity, and consistency. It would seem to be better for longer distances. What's your reasoning for only doing 8 pumps instead of ten?
@@ohshoot444 maybe he's asking you to do a "penny mod" video? it'd be an easy all at once job, barrel shroud off to heat and FrogLube bore, tape wrap a center support bushing (remove as needed until a little snug), and the piston pump flat top job with JB-weld or other good epoxy. I'd estimate it taking 40-50 minutes actual work time, (not epoxy drying) with editing: a before, doing the mods, and an after (shooting same pellets with pumps/fps to compare) might be a 10-12 minute video, like a "how to walk through". no doubt its kissing any warranty goodbye just as quick, isn't something I personally worry about with a 40 dollar (great!) toy. the speed jumps for 5-6-7-8-9 pumps are pretty substantial. (hehe I know you wanna shoot a little meaner 880) the JB-weld fill was simple, a little scuffing in the trough with small file tip, alcohol/acetone on a q-tip 3-4 times to clean, fill about .010 .015 thicker, 4-5 hours later take it back flat with a file and reassemble. I do think its the combination of all 3 helping its power/speed/accuracy. bushing for less straw barrel vibration, Froggy for quicker trip trying to outrun *skirt tipping muzzle blast* , and the little pressure boost from piston job.
@@modelnutty6503 You can get a factory mid-barrel stabilizer for the 880 from Daisy. It's actually the mid-barrel stabilizer from a Winchester (Daisy) 1977XS (not the 77XS). Also, the best power mods that you can for a stock 880 are the ones you mentioned, PLUS doing the dual O-ring mod on the piston. Not sure if anyone knows about it or has figured it out yet, because I developed that mod myself, and it consists of adding another o-ring to the piston. And of course flat-topping the piston. I have a chrono chart that shows the increases in power, per pump. The increases are modest, but worth the effort (40 extra fps). In order to get a REAL boost from an 880, you have to do the complete high pressure mods that consist of using the following parts: 1) Dual O-ring, high compression piston from model 1977XS, 2) Dual O-ring bolt from 1977XS, 3) intake valve from model 1977XS, and 4) barrel stabilizer from model 1977XS. All these parts are available to order from Daisy. I have built two high pressure 880's and they are capable of a whole lot more power than a stock 880 (nearly 200fps more). It's worth the effort to build one. I built two, and want to send one to Travis for testing on his videos, but so far my wife is against it for liability reasons, but I'm still determined to send it to him. Also it's best to get a metal pump handle for this, or reinforce the stock handle with a strip of steel bar stock.
@@ohshoot444 I was thinking spray foam fill between the pencil barrel and barrel sleeve, some trigger work sandpaper the pins and metal surfaces and add grease will smooth out the trigger pull, and if you want use different springs or double up the springs for more psi. Just thoughts thank you
I finally bought an 880 of my own, LOL. I bought it because I remember asking for one as a kid instead I was surprised with my Sheridan Blue Streak. My question is where did you get the scope rings for that?

Generic tip-off or 3/8" rings work fine. I think the brand I used is Modkin on Amazon. I've recently done a video explaining my set-up. It's called Best Budget Airgun.
It depends on the individual rifle to be honest. Spend an afternoon testing your favorite pellets in groups of ten at 6,7,8,9,10 pumps. Most of the 880s I've shot do the best with 7 to 8 for the newer models, and with 7.5 to 9 grain pellets.
Hello Travis. Years ago, I had a habit of holding a rifle crooked, until one day a seasoned hunter pointed out what I was doing wrong, and I thanked him. Accuracy can be split into two categories, the rifle and the shooter. (And of course, the pellets used that the rifle likes.) So far, I've watched several of your videos because overall, you have a nice presentation. I have a bunch of 880s, from different years. And if you take the shooter out of the equation, the 880 can be tweaked to be very accurate. Keep up the good work.
I want to use my 880 to teach deer to stay out of my garden, but I don't want to break the skin. I sighted in at 30 yards using three pumps. Does anyone out there have advice for me?
I'd use just regular steel bb's or copper bb's then. They're made of leather. At three pumps unless you hit them in the face it's not going to hurt them at all.

I can’t find a replacement labeled for the 901, but I have found these replacement parts for the 880.
Am I safe to assume that the rear sight piece for the 880 is the same part as for the 901? That’s all I need for it to be complete.
It should be the same. Give Daisy a call. They’re pretty good about stuff like that.
I'm new to multi-pump rifles. Will doing less pumps (say 4 to 5, instead of 10) dial down the FPS ?
Yes! It will also make different pellets behave differently. So a pellet might be accurate at 5 pumps but not 10.
I think you'll be trying 100 after awhile lol
Prueba los crossman premier cooper magnum .177 te van a ir muy bien para distancias largas con un daisy powerline 880 buen video 👍🏻
Mostly laziness. I’ve also chrony’d this one and I got the most consistent velocities at 8 pumps.
Why didn't you give it a full 10 pumps at that distance?
880 plz do a build on one
What do you mean?
@@ohshoot444 maybe he's asking you to do a "penny mod" video?
it'd be an easy all at once job, barrel shroud off to heat and FrogLube bore,
tape wrap a center support bushing (remove as needed until a little snug),
and the piston pump flat top job with JB-weld or other good epoxy.
I'd estimate it taking 40-50 minutes actual work time, (not epoxy drying)
with editing: a before, doing the mods, and an after (shooting same pellets with pumps/fps to compare) might be a 10-12 minute video, like a "how to walk through". no doubt its kissing any warranty goodbye just as quick, isn't something I personally worry about with a 40 dollar (great!) toy.
the speed jumps for 5-6-7-8-9 pumps are pretty substantial.
(hehe I know you wanna shoot a little meaner 880)
the JB-weld fill was simple, a little scuffing in the trough with small file tip, alcohol/acetone on a q-tip 3-4 times to clean, fill about .010 .015 thicker, 4-5 hours later take it back flat with a file and reassemble.
Just thoughts thank you
Nice shooting
Thanks!
Ive been lucky enough to hit a squirrels 65+ yards with slugs, drops them like a rock!
Thanks for this comment! I forgot I had some slugs, I'm gonna retry them.
@Oh Shoot i recommend pumping 12-20+ times
This will change your life.
I finally bought an 880 of my own, LOL. I bought it because I remember asking for one as a kid instead I was surprised with my Sheridan Blue Streak. My question is where did you get the scope rings for that?
I'm 80 percent sure the brand was modkin off the amazons. Like 10 bucks, just get the rimfire(3/8'), not weaver or picatinny.
@@ohshoot444 Thanks! I have an old Bushnell laying around. Think it will make a great rather and garage plinker
Great video wondering why not 10 pumps ? Doesn't have too power to begin with
I've just found through testing(chrony) that 7-8 pumps gave me the most consistent velocities out of this 880.
@@ohshoot444 gotcha 👌
Excelente video, gracias, una pregunta será que se puede dar caza algun animal con ese rifle, saludos desde Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Gracias por ver. He cazado animales pequeños con él.
How much drop would you say at 50? I knew the 880 would do it, once you got the hold you were nailing em.
I’d estimate maybe 6” from the 25-35 yard zero. The group is about 3” at 50.
@@ohshoot444 thanks that helps a lot. I've been holding more than that! I haven't did any testing but I've tried many times. I'm wanting a new scope. Tried looking the other night when I got some pellets but they were sold out of almost everything.
What about midway?
@@ohshoot444 yea I might have to order something. I have some gift cards I was hoping to use for that, but I'll have no problem spending those lol. I'll check out midway.
What cant the 880 do? Its a fantastic little gun. I just wish they didn't tempt you with that bb port.
Agreed. Wish they’d make one about 10% bigger and no bb port.
Why close the bolt before pumping as opposed to just leaving it open?
Habit.
PuMp it 100 times knock it down
I just bought a scope from amazon and its a good scope but the mounts are way to wide. Is there any recommendations on dovetail mounts that will fit my scope?
how big is the diameter of the scope? I think the brand modkin is the ones I've used in the past and they were pretty good for cheap.
@@ohshoot444 Its a 1 inch diameter. I just ordered a some utg rings for dovetail mounts on amazon. Awesome videos btw. Your videos convinced me to buy an 880.
I m liveing in Turkiye I want buy this airgun but I can not find in Turkiye . where can I buy it ? someone can help me ?
How does the scope fit? I'm trying to get a scope for mine, and the stock scope is crap.
Generic tip-off or 3/8" rings work fine. I think the brand I used is Modkin on Amazon. I've recently done a video explaining my set-up. It's called Best Budget Airgun.
@Oh Shoot thanks! Happy shooting, bro!
What is the name of the scope and is the scope that comes with it any good
It’s just a cheap truglo 4x32. The included scope is awful. I like the Winchester 4x32ao for the money or bsa outlook 4x32.
Max pumps is 10 pumps
👍😉
Good shootin 👍
Cuanto tiempo se puede mantener cargado con unos 6 bombazos uno de estos rifles sin causarle daños a su mecanismo?
It can be left loaded for a long time. I actually keep mine with 2 pumps in there to maintain pressure on the seals.
@@ohshoot444 ok gracias, 👍👍👍

Do you pump after every shot?
Yes
What do u mean by 880 Ldc like what is a Ldc
Lead dust collector. It's just the backwards way of saying moderator or suppressor.
@@ohshoot444 ohhh ok thank you
How many pumps do you go with regularly?
It depends on the individual rifle to be honest. Spend an afternoon testing your favorite pellets in groups of ten at 6,7,8,9,10 pumps. Most of the 880s I've shot do the best with 7 to 8 for the newer models, and with 7.5 to 9 grain pellets.
Second post, it looks like the shooter is holding the rifle crooked, known as cant.
Do you ever post positive comments?
The shooters name is Travis.
@@ohshoot444 Thanks for the opinion. Much appreciated.
I’m in Raleigh/Durham. Just ordered a 880 to kill a squirrel been trying to get into my attic on the second story facia at the gutter. Hope the neighbors don't call the law on me. I’m in a subdivision with culdisacs….argg.

the bb stuck at the back of the barrell and the bolt wont push it in. any solutions? brass rod to push from the front?
Either that or take it apart. They’re pretty easy to work on.
