    Many fond memories with this fun gun. Still have it from the eighties. It doesn't work so good now but to me it's the one I'll keep until I leave this world.

    I decided to get one to plink around with the kids i mentor in my neighborhood. My dad used to have one for a massive squirrel problem about 20 years ago. He was the one who pointed me to the 880 when i told him i was looking for a pellet rifle. I love this thing so much and so do all the kids.

    I’m an avid hunter and I bought this for plinking out my back door here in the suburbs. But then I put a 3x9 on mine a while back and it’s a sniper for squirrels. I have had mine since I was a teenager over 20 years ago.

    I have this gun and I love it! BBs are fine, but with a 3x9 scope, some hunting pellets, and ten pumps I kill Squirrels and Chipmunks in our garden on the regular. It's a literal sniper rifle. Very accurate. I place shots on top of shots when sighting in and practicing. When I bought this rifle I wanted it for fun. Now I consider it a useful tool that I use throughout the growing season. Nice review.

    I had one in .22 cal back in the 70s. It was the first pellet gun that I owned that you could actually shoot a pigeon in the chest and kill it. It was a big step up from my Daisy Red Ryder lol. 10 pumps not 5 is the way to go.

    I have one of these by my bed because we have chickens and with 10 pumps and a pointed daisy pellet,the possums,snakes,etc.,the daisy will get the job done. 5 pumps with a bb will go through a metal garbage can. One pump will go through 2 beer cans,empty and stay in the third one. Very powerful but aims off with sights.

      I bought a Legacy 1000 and it's a total piece of junk! I won't even buy crosman pellets anymore. Daisy is the new gold standard in pumpers IMO. I own The 880 and The Winchester 1977xs. The 1977xs is more powerful then either the 1000 or 880 and easy to replace the seals on too. It shoots consistently over 800 fps with 10 pumps and 7.5 gr pellets. Will even take a couple of extra pumps for more velocity. If you don't have a 1977xs you are missing out! And by the way The 77xs isn't the same gun, it's a 880. All said and done The 880 is still a great gun and I still target shoot with it also. I go out as far as 40 yards with it and it shoots right around 690 - 695 fps with 7.5s. I've gotten it over 700 with 7.0 and alloy 5.2. When the piece of junk still worked it was a fun gun also and of the three guns it felt the most like a real gun. It was shooting about 720 fps with 7.5s unfortunately for me after just two outings.............

    Good info, thanks for taking the time to demo. We had a squirrel problem in the back yard a couple of years ago. Normally I wouldn't kill anything (about the only thing I shoot is deep space stars and galaxies) but once they chewed on the patio lounge cushions and split the hibiscus plant my wife was 🤬. I headed to the local sporting shop during lunch one day. I picked up a Powerline 35 and it's just like what I had when I was a kid. 28 squirrels later... they don't come into the yard much. Then the power dropped and I could hear the air leak hiss after one pump. I then bought the Red Ryder, that's definitely not what you want for varmints. Though I've hit a few with the Ryder, they just jump up maybe 2 feet then take off. I think it's more of a game for the little $hits. Just recently discovered Daisy service and yesterday did a rebuild on my 35. The parts are mostly all the same for the 880 and the 35. If you need parts at a cheap price you can order by calling Daisy customer service at 479-636-1200, press 1 to speak with a representative. I hope you don't mind me posting this info. Daisy treated me very well and I am back to good pressure with the 35. The rear sight on the 35 is adjustable but I am thinking about an inexpensive scope for efficiency.

      Glad to have you join the conversation. And it’s awesome to hear of your positive experience with Daisy. • @ShootingGearReviews
      @ShootingGearReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it’s mostly going to be used for squirrels I would not suggest either a gun. They are under powered. You should be looking at a break barrel shooting 22 caliber pellets. That would be a much better choice for squirrels. BB guns will likely wound the animals but not humanely kill them.
