    This is going to sound funny, but I never owned a Daisy 880 or a Crosman pump BB gun. I have decided that I am going to by a Daisy 880 for my Birthday!

    I don't think I've ever been able to get a group that tight with BB's at 20 yards before, with ANY type of BB gun whatsoever! That was really good for that distance. And open sights even! Of course that tight group with the pellets and open sights was to be expected I guess, the 880 is great with pellets.

    I think pellets are gonna be more accurate. I've noticed bbs taking a sharp nosedive in mine around 25 yds...but that's just my opinion and my experience is limited on the 880 as I've not been shooting it lately. I guess I'll get to find out!!..

      Rifled barrel and STEEL BBs is bad, you can run Copperhead (copper) BBs as the copper is less likely to wear the rifling since its softer. Steel BBs smooth out the rifling for sure.

    Dang missed ya bud I was playing music. Hope you're doing good, catch ya next time. Good video. Yea steel BB's will bounce back at you in a hurry, a friend nearly took my eye out once. At distance you can see some curve & the faster you shoot them the more they can curve. Pellets way more accurate for sure & safer!

    You seemed a bit disappointed in the BB performance. I thought, for 20 yds., that was amazing. Of course, I expected the pellets to be significantly better and they were. Again, for 20 yds., really good from a lower powered, inexpensive rifle, with open sights, no less! Thanks for the demonstration.

  • @jurassicjosh7479

    I noticed the same thing without this video. I shoot from my back porch into the garden about 35-40 feet out.
    I can't hit CRAP with BBs, but pellets always work great.
    I'm glad I can see how much it's off side by side. They even drop much quicker. I have to aim high to make it to the garden with BBs.. and my yard is a downward slope lol.
    Just got the 880 a few weeks back to give me something to do that isn't just drinking and watching youtube news shows. Videos about the pellet gun I own help keep me interested in what all I can do with it.
    If only the MN police wouldn't shoot me if I brought it into the woods with my husky for actual squirrel hunting. Curse of living in the suburbs. I can bring it to a gun range, but paying money to be the dude at the range with a BB Gun when everyone else is using handguns, I'm not about to get laughed at lol...

      If you haven’t already, check out the truglo 4x32 on sale at midway right now. I ran that scope for a while on here. Little blurry. But, the price is right and it comes with rings. They have a decent selection of pellets too. Check out my 880 playlist. It’s a fantastic air rifle.

    Very good video thank you! I was going crazy figuring why my Ekol Thunder M .22 pellet springer groups shots in 1 inch while my Daisy Red Ryder 4.5 bb springer shoots groups in 1 hand sized area in same shooting conditions. It's the bbs!!!! 😂🙏🏻
    I'd say from my experience with the Red Ryder and this video of yours, bbs are for shooting tin can sized plinking targets only.
    For hunting only use pellets, since bbs are too small for lethal wounds in large game and too inaccurate for precission aiming in small game, shots will miss and animals would be wounded and in pain but likely escape since hitting a vital on a small game animal has more to do with luck than with aiming when using bbs.

  • @SavageAirguns
    @SavageAirguns 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    BBs are only used in my Red Ryders. I don't ever use BBs over pellets if I can. For example my Umerex SA10 CO2 pistol has never had a BB fired out of it... only pellets. I learned as a kid, never shoot a BB over a pellet unless your gun only fires BBs.

      for sure, if you're going to shoot BB's get a spring-plunger Daisy,
      polish+lube its guts. FrogLube did little wonders for 3 of them here,
      air cylinder and shot tube treated gave all 3 a 10% velocity increase.
      FrogLube is intended for small firearms but air power sure likes it!

    Writing this before watching you shoot. BV's, from the shooting U"be done, are a waste of time. That includes my Daisy Buck and Red Ryder, my Daisy 880, my Corpsman new model 770, and my Crosman 2100. I have a Crosman CO2 BB pistol that isn't too bad. BB's throw uncalled flyers all over the place. From whatI know, the only BB rifles that have any accuracy are the Daisy Avanti 499 at about $150, and, some owners got decent accuracy from the, now discontinued I believe, Umarex Morph in rifle form. The Daisy is literally a single muzzle loader with a very tight barrel and low velocity, while the Morph could push BB"s out at over 500 fps. The Daisy is designed for 5 meter matches, and at that it excells. The Morph showed that people that say BB"s are most accurate at 300 fps and under (or fill in the blank), are simply wrong. Now, on to your video!

    • @gwhitfield4239
      @gwhitfield4239 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      John neet, I have a morph 3x and you are correct about it totally. Mine was shooting in the 680fps on a hot summer day and It tore up the target at 28 yds...

      yup, BB's can do OK shot fast. RR here has cobalt327 setup and treated with FrogLube runs 365-370, decent at 15 yards. Crosman 760 open sights with 6 pumps on a BB runs about 460 can group tighter than the RR does.
      the 760 is an excellent budget BB gun, FrogLube the bore!
      you're stuck with the open sights unless you firm up a 760 a lot, the pump tube and barrel ARE kinda wobbly in relation to the receiver dovetail for a scope you're not going to need at 10-15 yards anyway, stock barrel mounted sites are good. slit the front for a fiber optic dot is easy, paint the slit white, let dry, then glue in the glow plastic. rear site flat 2.5 x 4 mm to the backside half the notch depth in yellow = glowing underscore to center the front pink/red dot over, really quick easy sight picture to pick up. done same to the RR and Buck here too.

    I was really surprised at the BB group at 20 yards. It did better than I thought I don't think I would have shot the BBs past 10 yards. My favorite BB gun is my Daisy 25 pump action BB gun in my opinion that's the most fun you can have with a BB gun unless you get one of those CO2 full auto ones.

      @@ohshoot444 You're right, and I don't care what anyone says, it will not hurt the rifling in an 880 to use BB's. I shot tens of thousands of them in my 880's back in the '80's and the rifling is still there and that barrel is still very accurate. 880's have that flat, shallow rifling that is designed to handle both BB's and pellets. But, having said all that, these days (just in case!), I never fire BB's out of my "good" 880's that I use for target shooting. Oh, and by the way, good luck getting a Crosman to shoot BB's straight! My Crosman 2100 shoots BB's terribly, they fly all over, like a 6" group at 10 yards, it's awful. Not sure why the 880 does so much better.

    • @davidlinscheid2321

      @@ohshoot444 Yes, when I ordered my new 880 (I live in a town and county in southern MN so small that there is not a Walmart within 45-50miles) I emailed Daisy with the question of whether or not BBs would harm the rifling in an 880. Daisy's response was "No."
      I also read in one of the comments on another of your videos that zinc is a softer metal. Thus zinc coated BBs should not harm a rifled barrel. I suspect copper is also a "soft" metal. Thus Daisy's zinc coated BBs and Crosman's Copper Tops should not harm an 880's rifled barrel.

    I wish Daisy would consider making an upgraded version of the 880! Don't get me wrong I love my 880 but It seems kind of cheap feeling.
    It would be nice If It had wood furniture and a more robust pumping arm! I would think Daisy would sell a ton of them even If the price was north of $200....The basic layout Is a winner, It just needs a little more of an upscale feel. Just a thought!

    Since I'm an old guy and I wanted a springer that was easy to caulk I bought a Hatsan alpha youth. I found that my crosman 760 is more accurate than the hatsan that has rifled barrel and all. Hatsan might get better after I shot more pellets through it. Cleaned both barrels, but didn't seem to make much difference.

    Using Crossman guns, I used to get similar results, poor accuracy with BBs. I also found that if I used BBs, for just 2 or 3 shots, my accuracy with pellets would go down for the next 6 to 8 shots until the barrel leaded up again. Then it was back to as good as my eyes, and in those days, that was almost 5 shots touching at about 25 yards. Have you seen that?

      I've fired Crossman Copperheads out of my 880, and I can't say I noticed much of a difference between them and regular steel bbs. Technically they are both made out of steel, but one has a copper coating which supposedly is better for the rifling than bare steel. Most guns that take bbs and pellets tend to have shallower flatter rifling than pellet-only guns. The Daisy 880 is one such gun with this feature.
