      Enrique, awesome! That is an important remark. You get the pin. Then other brass owners will know!
      That is Ralland's hack by the way,; I try to credit him. !f he doesn't reply to your question, he used other rings.

    I'm convinced that Pelgun Oil is Auto Transmission fluid,... It's the same color, same feel & same smell & it makes sense,... Auto Trans fluid handles heat, pressure & is good on seals,... I have used Auto Trans fluid in my Daisy 880 & other air guns for years :)

      David, thanks for great post. It got me digging. Others have said Pellgun oil isn't what most think. And more than a few prefer SAE 30w ND off the shelf. Those are Crosman fanatics.
      Now the info you will see is verified, but I will still only recommend ND oil on this channel. It prevents shopper error.
      Here are main bullets:
      * Crosman Pellgunoil (re-packaged Monolec GFS 8430) is SAE 30 engine oil with a high level of detergency. Because it's single-viscosity it gets significantly thicker in cold temps.
      - Magnum Oils
      * Monolec® GFS Engine Oils are a family of SAE 30 through 50 straight-grade engine oils formulated for extended drain service, primarily in off-road diesel engines. They contain Monolec, LE’s exclusive wear-reducing additive, and are specified mostly for engines but are also sometimes used in industrial applications, such as air compressors.

    Your video's are great! I have a Powerline 822 wood stock and metal receiver my brother bought for me new in the early 90's. (I know, they were only supposed to be made between 1976 to 1978) or so. This is an 822 brand new in the early (mid) ninety's, no fiberoptic sights. Your video just helped me change the seals and it works fine! Thanks!
    If you know any history on the 822, when it was produced etc.. I'd love to hear it.

    Hi there, D880 FFI. Many thanks for your various, excellent videos describing the teardown and lubrication of these air guns. Nice job indeed. I appreciate your expertise and friendly / patient advice.
    Mine is an older Rogers, AR late '70s / mid 80's Model 880 that I had in storage for 20+ years. Good condition.
    I just took the 880 out to clean and ... sorry to say [SO sorry] and embarrassed ... I used Blaster lubricant to give it good[!] a wipe down; no problem there. However, I did 'manage' to get some of that liquid to spill into the interior. Mea culpa. No excuses! I wasn't feeling well and was negligent / careless as to following common sense, proper procedure.
    Suddenly the bolt and safety are jammed and there's no air pressure. Understandably. Again, mea culpa! :(
    Do you think I'd be able to thoroughly "disinfect" the internals with alcohol or brake cleaner then lube correctly w/30 oil? I cannot afford to buy too many parts.
    PS: Pls. excuse my redundancy of this message in a couple of other of your videos.
    Happy New Year 2023. God bless.

      @daisy880fanaticfixit9  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir, first thank you for being well written and well spoken.
      Classy folks always make this channel worth it!
      Ok, if you can't cock the bolt, operating the gun is a non starter in the Daisy system.
      Ok, the Blaster Penetrator - which is made up of distillates or mineral spirts - likely caused a seal to SWELL. On your old brass tube style, I'm not sure if you have a seal on your loading rod.
      Something did melt or swell - OR BEST CASE - stuck in place because of the film Blaster or WD-40 leave on surfaces.
      Ironically, the best move here is to spray again on effected parts with Blaster - it wipes out the original coating. The parts could loosen and you QUICKLY wipe them dry!
      On help here I have to step back and refer you to JL Missouri. Search for his Old Style 880 video. His part prices ....well...are what the market will bear (yes, you might actaully think of a grizzly).
      I can't dive into these 880s because the engineering is different. I tried in the past and just too much to trouble shoot when I don't have one.
      On gun wipe down please go Ballistol! On black plastic like the M4 and 880, tbe formula cleans and protects. It leaves a STUNNING shine that does stick, wearing off only after heavy use. I find it too thin for pump gun lube but great for my Red Ryder - inside and out!
      Consider saving for modern 880 if fix isn't financially feasable or can't be done.

      Thank Y O U, my esteemed FFI!
      To reiterate, I sincerely admire your time and dedication in helping to keep this century-old Daisy Americana alive (even if some of their products are imported). Your own appreciation of both original Daisy engineering as well as occasional modifications by your some of your followers... positive and clever contributions (such as this brilliant chamber seal flare mod / fix with an O-ring shim) are great to hear and see. Your plethora of pointers are terrific advice.
      BTW, 'it takes one to see one', i.e., a clever mind, an engineering intuition, a keen attention to detail; and this too requires a rather altruistic recognition, a noble attitude on your part to give due credit.
      I will order some basic routine parts for my old 880, e.g., quality O-rings, the wiper and perhaps the exhaust valve and safety ball & spring. Will clean the inside, clean it some more, then clean it again. Lubricate w/Pellgun or 30W oil, AND carefully watch your procedure videos. (~_

    Nice buddy! I need to try that on the old 822. I'd really like to see if that would fix the velocity problem. I replaced what seals I could. It's a beautiful gun and is actually heavier than my newer 822. Shroud is like double layer steel if I remember correctly. It's like it's a "heavy duty " 822...lol. Thanks for sharing this valuable info.

    That is a great fix. I may take my vintage 880 apart and put the old seal back in with the #10 shim to see if I can revive the standard check valve. BTW I ordered parts from Daisy a month ago. They cashed the check but nothing has come yet. How long does it take with them? I am thinking about firing up my Go Pro to a doing a video for the vintage 880 mod to convert the current check valve for use in the brass tube.

    • @daisy880fanaticfixit9
      @daisy880fanaticfixit9  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Michael, your mod is most excellent. And, yes, a video on taking modern parts and making them work in brass style would be great. You are an expert in the brass style. Ron's Shim is cool, but even my gunsmith said to still order a few chamber seals (modern style). The shim could last for a few thousand shots or just a few hundred - depending on the seal condition. You may also prefer to use #9 ring. It does not flare the seal as much, easier to put back on the tube. You are smart and may decide to use other rings. Remember, for brass 880, Ron said 2 rings.
      As far as mail order, I just ordered 4 extra chamber seals, 4 wipers, and new valve assembly for 840. I don't urgently need those parts but want them on hand. As far as 840 goes, just two o-rings and pin valve to worry about. Also dad72 found out from Daisy rep that the Grizzly has not changed internally since inception.
      I personally would order over the phone. Norma handled my recent order. Will contact Hannah Thursday to get tracking info (just provide phone # in email). You should have gotten order by now. Porch thieves are a problem. Mail box too. I have lock box in my neighborhood. Try Hannah contact, see what happened.

      @daisy880fanaticfixit9  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ralland Fortier - Ok, thanks, Ron, again you have ancient 880 in front of you, but I do not. So shooters, Ron is sharp guy, so if you have brass 880, be thinking that the chamber seal is DEEPER and may need two O-RIngs to shim.
      For modern silver tube 880, consider ordering new chamber seals from Daisy Corp reps.

      @enriqueduarte1943 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ralland. I put only one o-ring in my old brass 880 and works. Your gun don´t work with only one o ring?

  • @idonknow7939
    @idonknow7939 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey bud thanks for the great videos! I just attempted rebuilding my 880 using the Danico kit. My original problem was air is skipping through the barrel as I pump it. I have shimmed this seal and also replaced the O-ring behind it. I also replaced the pump seal. I put it all back together and it kind of seems hard to pump but I figured I was just building better pressure. The problem is it won’t shoot the bb. When I pull the trigger it sounds just as if I caulked it and then pull the trigger, any thoughts?

    • @daisy880fanaticfixit9
      @daisy880fanaticfixit9  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the store O- ring angle AND the shimming are for folks either with old brass 880s are faction who refuses to do mail order.
      First remedy attempt: undo the shim and see if the new o rings in front and back get the job done. Let me know please.
      LIKELY REPAIR NEEDED: If air is flowing down barrel when you pump - and you have COCKED it, which should block the transport hole - your valve poppet needs to be examined. It is highly likely that it is the #7 O-Ring. Seen this before with other followers.
      Anyway, try the first fix. Then let me know please.

    • @idonknow7939
      @idonknow7939 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daisy 880 Fanatic Fix It
      OK took it back apart, took the O-ring shim out. And now I’m back to the original problem. Gun is cocked, try to pump it and air flows out of the barrel.

    • @daisy880fanaticfixit9
      @daisy880fanaticfixit9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, here is the story: when my 20 year old, USA-made 880 needed 3 seal change, the pump was FIGHTING me. Meaning the chamber seal was not checking the air. But the poppet in back was holding the air - it just flew right out the pump tube - not the barrel.
      Now we need to get your barrel assembly out and get your poppet out. My rehad video shows how to remove it. You need to check it, and make sure it behaves and looks like the one in my valve video. Watch both videos if needed.
      If the spring IS shot and broken, that would explain the hole not plugging. If it is in working order, and the top is not cracked or flattened, then look to your o ring there (seal number 4). Your Danco kit has #7 for that and has helped two of my followers repair their problem. Lube it with Pellgun oil or 30w ND. If you believe store rings won't survive petrol (my Grizzly says otherwise) Use Super Lube 100% Silicone.
      If your poppet is recked let me know. Also, if this is old brass tube model, I need to turn you over to those experts.

      Hey bud, I fixed it! It ended up being the O-ring on the twist in valve assembly. Thanks so much for helping me troubleshoot this thing. Thanks to you I saved myself money on having to buy a new gun and learned a lot about the one I have in the process. I’m confident I can fix most anything that goes wrong with it in the future. Connor wolfsoutdoors - Well, either Walmart bought TOO MANY units. Or the 880 isn't moving because shooters want M-4 or Bushmaster. Also cheap magnum Springers But you made insightful comment - your Gamo springer was not accurate. My Nitro was s nightmare to me, so I gave it to a guy who had it "tuned" which meant rebuilt. I searched 880 in my area and it doesn't come up on line (Wal-Mart). So stock up while you can at that price. My oldest and best 880 was $30 back in 1998. The others - $65, $75, and the 77xs - that was so bad I had to rebuild it because of multiple issues - $100...on sale.

      John, Daisy, Pyramyd Air, and many others like 20w to 30w for these pump rifles. The thickness is main issue - even if 3 in 1 is non-corrosive.
      Now the 3 in 1 motor oil is different, still not sure of the additives in it, but house hold oil should be avoided in airguns.

    • @cavemanjohnnie

      @@daisy880fanaticfixit9 I use the 30W motor oil from 3in1. Just kinda of like the small can and small spout. You got some great videos and I am new to airguns, migrating from firearms and all the laws and shortage of places to shoot along with trying to find ammo. I just bought this 880 and I simply love it. I have a 1077 crosman and learned how the design of the clips and forcing cone effect the accuracy of it. Watch many of your videos and really find them 1st rate and informative for me. Keep up the good work and thanks for taking the time to enlighten people about these pumpers.

      John, welcome to the Airgun Universe! That 880 won't let you down. I have said in the past that the designers of the 880 should have a statue at corporate head quarters.
      On 1077, great deduction. You are right. When Robert Beeman was in charge of his outfit (now Chinese and entirely different) he considered that 1077 style a gimmick. But folks still produce that type.

      @@daisy880fanaticfixit9 Some people told me not to get it, but I didn't listen. I thought it would be good for some rat shooting, but not accurate enough. I learned of the inherent accuracy problems in that gun from @airgunfun, which he explained the problems of the clips and forcing cone can have on the pellets. I actually watched several videos of his on the 880 shooting test results and I was sold. Before the 880, I got a Legacy 1000, so hard to pump, roll pins worked out of forestock all in 5 days (which I could easily have put back in), good power, but not that durable. So long story short, returned the 1000 and got the 880 about a week ago, never looked back.

      John. thanks for bringing to my attention that 3 in 1 has other products other than "house hold" oil that is too light.
      Yes, I found 3 in 1 ND motor oil - but SAE 20. That still is not the same as 30w., and old timers have told me to avoid these products in airguns. The Silicone product roundly hated by airgunners. Go with Super Lube 100% silicone if you choose to go silicone route.
