    Please note that in my experience PowerA does have excellent customer service and covers stick drift. I had a GameCube style Switch controller they made replaced within a week after I reported stick drift and they were apologetic about not being able to get it to me even faster.

    • @solo4o6
      @solo4o6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stick drift is caused by deadzone. But if you were able to get a controller with no stick drift on 0 deadzone that's amazing.

      Similar experience. Surprised me how easy they sent me a replacement without having to send back the other controller.

    This review probably swayed me more towards getting this controller. It has everything I want in a controller and has back paddles! Something I've been suffering not having since playing on a DS4 controller for over a year. And this is a cheap alternative (I'm cheap) for what I'm trying to do. Which is have back paddles and a reliable controller. The triggers aren't a huge deal for me because on the FPS games I use the bumpers. Getting all that stuff for less than 90? What a deal!

  • @Taikuken
    @Taikuken 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Very in-depth review, I’m on the fence. But the ability to swap out the thumb sticks, the impulse triggers, the type-C cable, plus the additional features, and accessories makes it a worthy investment.

    I've owned the first version for over 2 years. I use it heavily in chunks of time depending on what I'm playing at the time. Definitely high usage recently with 200hrs plus on Halo infinite. It is still going strong. In halo my right stick dead zones are all at 0, but there is a minimal amount of stick drift on both sticks in other games. The only bit of wear on mine is a tiny bit of squeaking when I rotate the stick along the edge of the circle. It does have the same issue as this new one with trigger stops. If I put it at the smallest, when I press the trigger sometimes it doesn't register. So I don't use it at all.

    • @skarlxz3935
      @skarlxz3935 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your paddles haven’t gotten loose or even started to occasionally not input when pressed? Had mine for about a year my paddle for crouching and jumping have gotten noticeably wiggly and don’t respond when pressed sometimes.

  • @VGVindaloo
    @VGVindaloo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I only have the first version and see no need for an upgrade now. I use that one primarily on my PC, since I got my Elite controllers connected to my Xbox. But considering the time I used it, mine is surprisingly robust. So far no issues, while my Elite 2 already had stick drift after a few months (luckily no issues getting it replaced). The fusion still works after over a year in use. My Elite 1 has now issues with the paddles since the plastic starts to wear out, but I used that one more than the Fusion. So, the same might happen to the Fusion in the future, since the paddles also are attached to a piece of plastic. My wishlist for the Elite 3 would be:
    1) Metal holdings for the paddles
    2) Bring back the AA batteries, it's just way more convenient to switch out batteries and put the empty ones in a charger than having to attach the whole controller. It's also more future proof, since I can just replace the batteries once they're worn out.
    3) Fix the stick drift of the Elite 2, had no issues there with my Elite 1. Or any other official Xbox controller for that matter, even my first 360 controller doesn't have huge drift. And even that is understandable, since the stick doesn't center itself due to a worn out feather. If you center it manually, it's still ok. And that one was used so much, that the rubber coating of the stick is worn off to a point where you can see the metal beneath it. So, MS obviously knows how to do it right and they jut botched the Elite 2.

    The reason why PowerA can’t make wireless Xbox controllers is because Microsoft/Xbox won’t allow 3rd party companies to make wireless controllers because they want to be the only company to make wireless controllers. Idk why Microsoft is like that when it comes to 3rd party companies trying to help them out, I guess they just don’t think other companies can make good wireless controllers like they can.

    I only have one question if you still have the series 2 go on forza telemetry where you can see the hp torque and the %of throttle hand brake and brake set the Lt on min stand hold it and at the same time try move it left to right to see if it holds same brake % would be awesome to see if the Lt Rt got slack or not

    • @lbs
      @lbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haven’t played forza yet but if the question is if the es2 triggers have slack, they don’t and are probably the best I’ve experienced in terms of a controller having trigger stops and hair triggers and still functioning as well at shallow levels as it would fully open levels. Scuf wasn’t to far behind here but too shallow hair triggers w any controller can be a problem. Both controller trigger stops function great!

    • @lbs
      @lbs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! The controller itself is very responsive in my experience. I don’t have any official numbers, but as it’s wired, I’m sure it’s among the fastest (likely faster than their wireless counterparts). However, I will add there may be some perceived lag in the paddles due to their design where there is some slack/dead space between pull and actuation. This is somewhat expected with every paddle system I’ve experience, but it was more noticeable for me with this controller. Hope this helps!

    A quick question : when you say "rumbles" ... Is it the 4 motors , like on the normal xbox controller or not ?
    In a normal controller , you have 2 motors near the wrists and 2 motors in the triggers.
    I'm asking this trivial question because I learned recently, that the Rzer V2 Chroma has NO trigger motors at all !!
    Maybe it's ok for FPS lovers, but if you play with other games (racing games...) well... no vibrations on the V2 chroma ..

    • @lbs
      @lbs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. That's exactly what I mean. Similar to the normal controller rumbles. And agree, I prefer to have them, but to have the ability to turn on/off when I want for those same reasons.

    Great video. I have the original controller and the upgrade doesn’t definitely seem worth it. However, I have the hyper x cloud II and the mute button on the Xbox dashboard found in the sound menu just doesn’t work when using the controller and I’m not sure why. The cloud II do not have a way to mute themselves either other than removing the mic which is a bit annoying. It’s weird how the mute button on the Xbox dashboard doesn’t work and I haven’t found out why or how to fix it. Anyways, have you tried the Kontrol Freak precision rings? Do you know if they are worth it?

    • @lbs
      @lbs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t tried out the precision rings as I’m usually using an elite series 2 where I feel the 3 tension adjustments are good enough for me (also heard that the magnetic joysticks won’t stay on with precision rings in use on the ES2). However, i’ve heard positive things in the sense that you could utilize higher sensitivities but still be accurate. This would be helpful for me because it gets frustrating not being able to flick quick enough on people (mnk players) in some FPS games. I would consider using them for controllers that don’t have native tension adjustments for the thumb sticks. For example, I might get a battle beaver controller and test out precision rings if I find that controller to be viable to use on a regular basis.

    The one I received had drift the 2nd day and the sticks are wobbly and feel bad when moving them around. Almost like a cheap feeling. Couldn’t return the controller either so I just have it laying around in my room. Waste of money really.

    the reason they don’t make wired xbox controllers is because xbox doesn’t give out whatever software it is to make a wireless controller connect to an xbox

    The Fusion 1 was my favorite before I just got a victrix gambit...but to say the 2 is better is just a lie 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s literally the exact same controller with a toggle switch you’ll never use save your money and buy the fusion 1 now that it’s only like 40

    • @SpeedyGoneFroglegs
      @SpeedyGoneFroglegs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The toggle would be a great addition, I bought one just for it, but the FP2 has a fatal flaw. There seems to be a permanent feedback loop on the mic. I tried contacting PowerA to see if they were going to fix it in a firmware update and they suggested a replacement, but it has the same problem as my first FP2. I want to like the controller, I love the original Fusion Pro and the Fusion Pro 2019, but the headset loop makes FP2 basically unusable.

      @@SpeedyGoneFroglegs that sucks...my razer had a similar flaw bc when using a wired mic with the wolverine ultimate it removes all mic monitoring and it’s super annoying feeling like I’m either yelling or talking to low all the time 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

    I got this controller in addition to having my elite 2. The thing I like far better about this controller than the elite is the fact that there isn’t left sided stick drift. If the elite 2 had even stick drift instead of left sided stick drift I would still be using it. I find that when I move my right stick up right or down there’s no drift but when I push it slightly left the drift is bad. This controller has great control with the sticks and very little drift considering the durability is great. Imo this is a great controller but won’t benefit some users in certain games played.

      If you’re looking for a controller for full control in shooting games this is the controller imo. Real smooth and full control especially with the tall domed stick.

    I just hate the material that the thumbsticks are made of. It rubs off and leaves dust on the outer circle containing the thumbstick. This make stick drift worse I think

      @@lbs from what I understand after looking into it, scuf own certain patents for controllers that they actual license to other controller manufacturers, I’m not exactly sure if they leverage that to make wireless controllers or if they are just taking an existing controller and modifying it like some other companies, but I do know that the board inside a scuf controller is the exact same one from Microsoft’s first party controllers

    Wired controllers in 2021-22 it's a huge deal breaker for me. Console gaming is a couch gaming. Plus, talking options for PS4, PS4 has many great wireless options: Nacon, Razer, Astro. Xbox - only Elite Series. True - Elite 2 is an excellent controller, but there is nothing else for wireless gaming. And don't tell me Scuf - those are very overpriced. For PS4, one of them had thumbstick stuck at the very beginning and other - paint was bad, I was playing with gloves so my hand not get that sweaty, and paint got damaged. Does not happened with regular DS 4 controllers. And both were $250+
