I got the controller about 3 months And it’s really a good controller the only problem with it is that the white back grip was peeeling off and getting these air pockets in them like little bubbles and about two months into it The dual sense edge controller Replaceable thumb stick broke so I searched it up on Amazon and it was sold out and there were these knockoff ones and they were like triple the price so I check on GameStop and it was sold out too and now it’s been like 5 6 months and it’s still sold out so now I’m stuck with a broken $300 controller

Not sure if production is also an issue w/ these but Sony needs to do something for their actual controller owners to be able to acquire these units first. What have you been using w your controller offline?
There should be a class action lawsuit against sony. I also have the controller and need a new stick module. Been looking for 6 months and im now forced to buy a 75 dollar controller when i shouldn't need to. Complete bullshit
@@davetech356 I play a game where you change between 4 characters so using the paddles is a lot better than using the d-pad at the same time. I bought the Dualsense Edge controller anyway lol - it arrived today
$200 is a scam considering that some of the features should just be implemented to the system itself. button remapping could easily be something they added to the ps5 itself, giving you a choice for customized setups per game. it costs nearly as much as the whole freakin' console.
It is costly, I agree. I think the stick module tech, paddles and potential R&D add to the cost, but the branding and competition like set the price. At least some games off needed remapping and the standard controller is still the best option for most of us. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I don't think many people know this, so I'll share this to make people more aware on these scummy practices. Hall effect sensor sounds like some expensive new technology, but they're actually dirt cheap. I can order a 100 pack of them right now for 20 euros. So 20 cents per sensor. So the only reason why these big companies are still using pots instead of hall effect sensors is because they want the controller to break so you have to keep buying new ones. a.k.a planned obsolescence. So just know that by buying these controllers with pots, especially at this price range, you are in a way supporting this very greedy practice.
Thanks for sharing! You are not wrong. I think it’s the many understand that and what sparks lots of the frustration. I think the main thing is that users in general just want companies to utilize the sticks that work (Hall effect). They don’t want to have to tinker and upgrade these things themselves. Also, I think companies mention the Halifax sticks as a feature for this reason. They understand most are using pots and this is an upgrade to that. I don’t think that they’re charging a premium based on Halifax sticks because we do have some that are as low as 40 bucks on the market , but they are charging a premium based on all the advanced features packaged together…plus brand.
@lbs I'm looking at AIM and the Scuf FPS. However, both have very good and very bad reviews so I'm hesitant to buy anything at this point. It's a jungle out there..
@darushk2635 yes! It is a jungle! My issue with both of those is they utilize standard or refurbished controllers as their base. So it makes sense why reviews are all over the place. Warranty then becomes most important for those, especially as they have yet to integrate Hall Effect or easy stick replacements. There are more coming in the market w the latter options. Hopefully these bigger names or ones w your preferred layout will offer this. You know your preferred layout yet?
I don't know my preference yet as this will be my first pro controller. I do gravitate more toward the scuf though since the layout looks comfortable. I also found the phantom by hex gaming, that one has stick drift recalibration or hall effects options. They have back buttons wich don't look as comfortable.. however, it seems they aren't mass producing yet so it's in a wierd pre-order state, almost like a kickstarter.
@darushk2635 ahh yea it can be tough figuring out your preference for the first time. I had the same issue. Not sure if you are close to a GameStop/Best Buy/etc but it could be beneficial to stop in and ask to hold a few pro controllers. Or you can buy 1 and return it depending on their policies. I’m working on a vid now to help in deciding on pro controllers for the first time. Let me know if there’s anything specific you’re curious about and want me to cover.
Price is the deal breaker for me. That hotswap stick feature should be on every controller regardless of whether the controller is pro or not. It’s the only thing I value on this. Those extra back buttons and customizations mean nothing to me.
Appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Would love to see easily swappable sticks universally! We’ll see what the future holds. Sounds like you may just need a solid standard controller. Maybe a solid hall effect controller that will keep your sticks nice for the long run.
Honestly, you’re asking for too much🤣🤣 they didn’t have to give us haptic feedback and adaptive triggers… it could’ve been another vibration or rumble feature like XBox and past controllers…😂😂😬 this controller gives you damn near hair trigger actuation when tuning the trigger settings… it don’t actuate where you see the shortest trigger’s stop bottoms out, but literally as soon as you pull the trigger… if XBox and Sony GAVE these away with the consoles, there would be no market for pro controllers… this here, is pay to win my friend… and I paid and it pays off😂😂😂😏
@@broadwaybull It’s not too much to ask for more durable sticks on regular controllers. They can keep the hair trigger actuation on the pro controller. Keep that pro controller market going. 5:40 When you said Sony is a genius, I thought you meant business-wise, not talking about the actuals "solution" itself. No, it is actually extremely bad that they offer swappable joystick modules. For one, they have been creating artificial scarcity by not producing nearly as many modules as they should (yes, this is VERY intentional so that people think Sony has their backs in the event of their controller getting drift, but then they aren't available, so they have to buy a brand new controller, plus its anti-consumer because of scalpers selling these modules at three times the price on eBay or other digital storefronts), and probably the even worse thing, the fact that they could have avoided any type of drift happening in the first place but decided NOT to (again, they opted to go for these swappable potentiometers because people would buy the modules and since they aren't producing many of them, anyone with issues might just go for a brand new controller again, netting Sony some extra sales) by installing potentiometers instead of HALL EFFECT joysticks. Extremely anti consumer, and for anyone wanting to be serious about a decent pro controller, I highly suggest Aim's controllers, that are better quality, have mechanical mouse-like trigger stops that have way shorter travel distance than what Sony's offering. besides analog triggers (yes, with the motors and everything), the fact you can customize these controllers, they are official and have native support on PS5, PLUS the fact you can choose stuff like digital buttons (higher quality face buttons, unlike these mushy ones) and hall effect joysticks. Sure, these controllers aren't cheap, but if you actually want a more decent controller - and a more serious one at that - you could simply pay a bit extra (or could be quite a bit more if you want to go all-in with the customization options) for a way, WAY better controller.
Only issue I am having is all the scalpers buying all the stick modules and over pricing them for 40+ need more supplies coming from sony and not these resellers
It's a very good controller, but it's certainly not worth 3x the price of a standard DualSense. What really stings is the fact that there's no reason why Sony couldn't implement customisable profiles for the standard controller with remappable buttons and stick curves. They could even take it a step further and link profiles to specific games. Great review though.
I agree, Xbox does the same w the es2 vs standard. I think they know it would decrease the perceived value of these pro controllers and these prices would look even worse to us. It’s also their way to have a leg up and barrier to the competition as many have to do/spend/provide more to allow full remapping and curve adjustments. Interested to see how low this goes for Prime Day and the holidays after being out a year now. Thanks! I appreciate the support!
