This is the only reason why I haven't purchase it yet! No on board effects! Who wants to go through Serato for these effects? Still debating on the Pioneer Rev 7 which is currently on back order. Thanks for the review, really comprehensive. I've been hung up on upgrading to the Roland DJ 808 but resisted all through lockdown. I'm going to get mine on order tonight. 😎
Trust me there’s no need to chase the latest and greatest equipment. You’re basically paying for look/build quality and effects. In 2021 pretty much every dj controller can do the exact same things.
@Keith Lee Push2 is a totally different product and I would never wanna switch it with a DJ controller as using ableton squeezes much more creativity out of my head than any dj software can do currently. but if i could have both worlds, I'd go for that masterpiece controller too.
I've heard people complain that it doesn't have internal effects, which is a silly complaint. I have over 35 years as a musician and recording/mixing engineer and *everyone* who has a digital audio workstation like ProTools, Studio One, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, has been using software effects for a very long time...like decades. Those software effects are every bit as good as anything you'll find in a hardware unit.
I believe I can offer a different perspective being that I repair DJ & Pro Audio gear. I know there's been no shortage of NS7II comparisons & based off their reputation alone, one would assume that the Rane One's build quality trumps that of Numark eventhough they're both under the InMusic umbrella. I've worked on at least a dozen NS7IIs over the years & only recently did I have the opportunity to repair a Rane One with a faulty motor assembly...same issue that many SC6000M owners are experiencing. Now that I've had the chance to look at the One's guts and components I can honestly say with confidence that the NS7II is of better quality... by far. Actually it's not even close. NS7II has superior potentiometers, capacitors, mosfets, transistors, diodes etc. down to the soldering. Even the performance pads. The pads on the NS7II are of the same pads you'd find on old school MPC consoles. The pads on The One are comparable to pads found on modern day entry level Akai midi controllers. Matter of fact, the only thing that's indisputably better on The One is the crossfader. It just goes to show how people are quick to pass judgment based on perception & past reputations. This is not the same Rane that people have come to know them by. Define "built like a tank". What are you basing that off of? It's weight? Because the same can be said about the NS7II. I would say it's just Numark with better "clothing" but from what I've seen, it's inferior to 2000's Numark. Parts don't lie.
Mr. Hartley first off superb review. Next just for me and others could you do a side by side with the RANE ONE and the NS7. Also, I had started saving towards a DDJ 1000 or SRT and the ONE appears in 2021... I do enjoy scratching and also enjoy the 4 channels of my SX2. From your review of the 1000/SRT that seems to be club dj style more than turntablists style, although it was reviewed by many as one of the best scratch decks around. The cost is to close to really cry over. How do you compare the ability to scratch between the 1000/SRT and the ONE?
Had a closer look, and on a second thought I guess my Numark NS7iii has more options than this. I may buy this for portability. But, still 6 year old Numark NS7iii is a champ. And people portrays RAVE ONE as first moving platter controller is hurting me. I had NS7ii and NS7iii. both are with moving platters and more options.
How do you think this lines up to the Numark NS7III? My only complaint about mine is weight, otherwise the thing has been rock solid from day 1. Just curious, not trying to start a digital ruckus on here.
Fantastic product! I've been waiting years for a controller like this! For all fellow DJs coming from a turntable background and historically for me it was Technics 1200, Numark CDX, Denon 3700, NS7 II and now Rane Twelves. This product is smaller and almost 10 lbs lighter than NS7 II which will be great for portability. There are 2 things I noticed right away that are unfortunate but I can live with. #1. Mics don't have "talkover or ducking" feature which is so useful for mobile djs like me. Also, the little on/off switch is so small, might as well just leave them on all the time. So glad they had 2 quality combo XLR/TRS mic channels though! #2. No sampler volume knob? Unless I missed it, I don't see how to control volume for sampler. Thanks RANE! I'm excited about this product. -DJ Libertad
I started on software & controllers. I currently use a Numark NV. To improve my scratching & juggling, I think a motorized platter would help. Should I get this, go for a traditional dvs setup, or straight up learn on some vinyl?
you’re basically describing the denon sc6000ms with a mixer of your choice-expensive but only alternative for now unless denon / range / numark decides to make a controller version like pioneer did with the XDJ lines
Please help me decide which controller to go with! I've used Denon 5000s standalone for 4 years now and been wanting to add a controller/laptop combo. Feel like I might miss the 4 channels though... (but I scratch a lot too).
when they make a 4 channel, put the tension adjust on the outside, put effects and eq on the mic line and keep the Bluetooth line and make it native map with djay pro a,i even though im a Serato user, I will buy one
I literally invested in a Denon Prime 4 only a few days before this video was released, that was after months over deliberating and considering various all in one controllers. One of my main reasonings for going for the Denon was down to two reasons, 1: Denon have really been pushing the envelope in DJ technology for a while now and I was impressed with their cdj that included the 7inch platter. 2: After now needing a replacement laptop, I am sick and tired of having to give thousands to Apple for a reliable laptop, hence looking for a stand alone. However, considering Denon had put so much effort and thought into the Prime 4 controller, I was disappointed that they did not include 7 inch platters on it... It would have been understandable if they had no history in featuring such technology, but they had just released their new Denon CDJs with 7 inch rotating platters. I am yet to really give my prime 4 a real run for its money, so the jury is still out on it. That being said, this Rane controller is exactly that I have been looking for since working with dj controllers. Its perfect, the layout, the platters, the simplicity, it is tailor made for djs such as myself, who started out on vinyl and want to maintain that feel coming from such beginnings. I've watched soooo many reviews from this chanel and Jamie always gives great reviews, but usually takes and impartial stand when summerising. To hear him say this is the best controller he has ever used (or words of that effect) just speaks volumes!!! In other words it's perfect! With decades of using Technics mixers, Vestax of every model and Rane mixers I and every other dj and/or turntablist will know the durability and quality of Rane mixers, their cross and up faders, there is nothing more to be said, their history and products speaks for themselves. I have always looked for a controller that I can work with at home and practise my sets on it so much that there becomes a comfort and muscle memory that I could also take the controller with me and have that comfort while playing out. I became a traktor user because of the mobility of an s4 that could be alternated to a z4 and turntables. However, their platters on all traktor controller's (excluding the new mk3s) has always been for me a none starter for me/crap. This Rane controller looks so perfect it is making me want to go buy a new laptop, move over to serato and go buy one ASAP. Well done to Rane and well done to crossfader, the review is really appreciated ... Awesome, awesome, awesome. Okay I'm a little excited 😆😆😆 Can't wait for it's release... Fire!!!!
Just a quick one. If I was to buy a new controller I just say I was looking to upgrade.Oh I was buying a new controller for the first time professional type of controller like this one or the pioneer DJJ 1000 SRT which one would you recommend this is if I was looking for one but I already have one for argument sake I will looking for

The force is strong with crossvader☄💫
Thanks for the review, really comprehensive. I've been hung up on upgrading to the Roland DJ 808 but resisted all through lockdown. I'm going to get mine on order tonight. 😎
i have the 808 and honestly I would not switch to this one
I just bought a push 2 last week...whhhhyyyyyyy 😭😭. I want this! Great review as always. I’m a rekordbox dj but I’d learn serato for this
Trust me there’s no need to chase the latest and greatest equipment. You’re basically paying for look/build quality and effects. In 2021 pretty much every dj controller can do the exact same things.
I feel your pain, I just bought a DDJSX3 in November 2020 at full price. If I had known about this I would have waited
@@Smiley869 true but I have a ddj 800 and I’m still using composite jog wheels. I guess that’s why this is intriguing to me
@@keithlee4963 gotcha, that’s understandable 👍
Agree fully with @Sick James . Such a great go over of all of the features... I'm just waiting for mine at the moment... Ahh cannot wait.
sounds great but no mention of ns7 mk3 which was 1st with 4 channels?
Why the tiny cue button?
Parts don't lie.
thanks for your experienced comment. So refreshing to hear some trade honesty 🙏
It looks really nice - maybe it's finally time to upgrade my SB2 Serato controller 😬
Yes me too :)
i love it they thought of everything.good job!
How to purchase this in India?
How do you compare the ability to scratch between the 1000/SRT and the ONE?
they shouldve added the screens from the NS7III to make the unit a must have in the arsenal even though I have a Prime 4
it worked! thank you so much!!
How can I buy this controller
How to connect this controller in live streaming service
Just brought it today, yes baby
I am using NS7iii. After all those years I found an upgrade option now.
Not sure if this is much of an upgrade.
When big power goes to fooly brains thats big shame..
Wow...... That Song sampler thing that snaps tracks into decks instantly.... Siiiiccckkk for quick performance sets redbull 3 style
My dream product🔥❤️

Kind of reminds me of the Denon 3500 motorized platter. What are the measurements of the controller?
Will Serato Dj Pro come with this?
Where is the echo tap on the Rane1.??
I started on software & controllers.
I currently use a Numark NV.
To improve my scratching & juggling, I think a motorized platter would help.
Should I get this, go for a traditional dvs setup, or straight up learn on some vinyl?
Just need Rane/Denon/Numark to make a standalone version of this, HOW WICKED WOULD THAT BE????
I mean... its a no brainer right? Imagine a lovechild of this and Prime 4???
you’re basically describing the denon sc6000ms with a mixer of your choice-expensive but only alternative for now unless denon / range / numark decides to make a controller version like pioneer did with the XDJ lines
as long as it doesn't use Engine, that software is booty!
good review... im still thinking about the pioneer str1000
Wow what a beauty of DJ Hardware!
Awesome unit. Love it and love the review 👍👍🙂
Glad you like it, thanks!
Is 7 in big or good enough to learn scratch for a beginner? or does it have to be 12 in?
7" plenty of room to learn scratching even 4" you can learn just feels better on bigger wheels.
I just got the Rane one and I’m loving it but someone in the comments has a point. What’s the solution for the no volume knob for samples?
I've read a lot of reviews about the FX paddles breaking on this controller pretty fast within a week or two of using it
Great work Bro!
I have the ns7 ii. Time to upgrade. Hope is not as heavy as the ns7. Tanx for the review.
The Rane ONE comes in at 10kg
Fire!!!!
The design is insane 🤩. If denon could make their stuffs as pretty they would sooo be ahead
Rane and denon are owned by the same company (inmusic), as is numark
Just a quick one. If I was to buy a new controller I just say I was looking to upgrade.Oh I was buying a new controller for the first time professional type of controller like this one or the pioneer DJJ 1000 SRT which one would you recommend this is if I was looking for one but I already have one for argument sake I will looking for
