    This is the best tutorial imo on scratching using the fader. I'm at work, so I don't have a turntable infront of me. I'm literally practicing the movements, so when I go home, I'll have the technique drilled in my head.

    To be a great teacher, you have to be able to understand it inside out, be able to perform it fast and slow, bit by bit and be able to convey the information to the individual in a method so they can understand and perform it. The greatest reward as a teacher is when you observed the individual is performing it.

    Yessir! THIS is the Tutorial I needed to give me the confidence to start scratching. I won’t Lie, most people don’t want to pay for a Scratching DJ/Mixologist, so as a Mobile DJ, I would just blend beats and call it a Night. But the Other Side of me just wants to be able to do it whenever I feel like doing it.

      I used to feel the same way man! I remember someone told me I wasn’t a “real dj” because i couldn’t scratch but that’s bs to me. Everyone doesn’t “have” to scratch, but that definitely pushed me to learn at the time, then I fell in love with the progression.

    A big key to scratching is small fader movements. The less you travel on the fader, the quicker and cleaner the cut will sound. Also, using short sounds makes the cut sharper/ cleaner.

    How are these turntables working?? The platter actually spins around like the Tech 12's? Does it feel heavy like the Tech 12 motors? Does it take a bit of physical pressure to stop the spinning with your hand, like the Tech 12's?
    If you put your hand on the "record" to stop it... the platter is actually still spinning UNDER the "record"?? Sooo... RANE just looks at the "records" spinning speed to change the speed of the song? Would the "record" stop moving if you only stopped the platter by holding the edge?
    I can't believe these have been out for two years! I completely missed this until TODAY!
    I started on Tech 12's. I still use tech 12's. I've bought a small cheap mobile CDJ thing.. it's ok but I can't deal with tiny platters that don't move! And the Pioneer CDJ prices are insane. THEEEEESE however.... hmmmmm!!!

    what if the hand motions are done in reverse/opposite when cutting instead of forward then cross fader closed?

    • @DJLiftOFF
      @DJLiftOFF  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be hamster style scratching that I believe you’re referring to - the motions are similar, just in reverse.

    please keep making videos of when you scratch but show the camera at an angle where we can see the pattern on the track, like in your previous video of transitions with reverb.
