Heck yes! We got tons of new items, got to design a store, hospital, cafe and restaurant. We got the ability to make structural additions to our houses and the ability to change our villager houses.
HHP is *so* worth it Even after I finished the main story, creating homes for my island villagers and other villagers on the archipelago was really fun!
Okay I am coming back with additional thoughts… I love it and still believe the above. That being said, I can’t help but feel I would have far less ACNH burnout if 2.0 and the DLC had come out at different points. HHP coming later makes sense to me. HHP did unlock some design-related features on our own islands that I can’t see would make sense without HHP, but hey, I’m not a game dev 😅
@@ZeldaCW23 feel this. It doesn’t help that NH horizons is probably twice as fast paced as even the prior entry New Leaf. HHP has me back on gamecube buying the one sapling available from Tom Nook per day.
@@ZeldaCW23from what i see you have to pay 50+ USD Just for 1 year if you don’t already have nintendo switch online. idk if its worth it for me, was it worth 50+ USD for you?
Yes! Being able to redesign villager homes on your main island is the best part. It helps increase your friendship level and make your island aesthetic better. The bonus design features, items, diys, and materials are nice too!
Happy home paradise is so worth it to me, I love all the features, like designing your villagers houses on your main island, that might be my favorite part, I love the home I made for my favorite villager (Sherb!)
I didn't get HHP until last May, mainly because my designing skills are nowhere as good as the TH-cam AC community. But I did it out of curiosity and got a lot of enjoyment out of it. It does get tedious when dozens of villagers ask for identical themes (tropical island and garden/park in particular) and I wind up making those ones roommates to save a little work for myself. But it's a great way to get to know the other villagers you don't always see and there's a good chance you'll find a new villager to fall in love with that you want to villager hunt and bring them to your own island
Definitely work it, just for the items unlocked. If you don't like designing, you can literally just open the items that are required and it's considered finished. I can't let myself do that personally, but it's definitely an option. You also get access to TONS of new recipes, food and items.
Absolutely worth it, especially considering the low cost of the DLC compared to the main game. Besides, the villagers who do nothing on your home island deserve a vacation home to escape to! Where you can put them to work! 😉
It’s definately worth it for me. At first, I was into all the designing, but now I mainly just want all the new items. I’d also like to know how to get those stairs you had in your home, since it didn’t seem like they lead to the attic or basement.
Just bought my mom a Switch and AC today, so my first ever video. How perfect, I was just wondering if the DLC was good so it could retain value, and this makes me very happy. How perfect it dropped today. I’ll be sure to watch more vids, I already love the tone of this channel.
I'm still going to the archipelago and making vacation homes for Bob and his Gang (and any other villagers I see there) in evenings. I also make a point of checking the gift shop and Wardell's catalog and buying one new thing (that, according to NookLink, isn't yet in my own catalog) every night.
HHP is definitely worth it and this is coming from a non-creative type person, You don’t have to do much for the animals to be satisfied (basically just use the 3 specific items they want ). I try to do better in improving their homes and am very impressed by the players who are extremely creative. I purchased the dlc as soon as it became available and although I don’t go to the archipelago every day, it is still fun to go there, to interact with the animals who will make you laugh at their silly conversations, get some free turnips from Joan (Yay, Joan! Thought I was never going to see her again). The students are hilarious! Changing out the employees is fun as well as interacting with Wardell. The sunset is so beautiful,. I had gotten new DIY cards and recipes . This isn’t all. I encourage y’all to purchase the dlc if you haven’t. It’s well worth it and Bob’s Gang agrees!
I LOVED Happy Home Designer, I got it on release day back in 2015. I was really excited when this DLC was announced because I had been thinking about how I missed popping into HHD to design a home, so getting it again was perfect. Sometimes I wish the villagers gave us a design budget, but it’s probably better this way.
Same. I used to play HHD tons when I was younger & it’s super nostalgic for me. I only recently just got back into ACNH & have NSO so I got the DLC for free. I’ve been playing HHP everyday since I downloaded it. I love it & it’s so fun for me. It would be pretty cool if we could put a challenge feature on via something like settings that limits us to a budget or a certain size/object limits. It’s still super amazing though.
Honestly the extra beach DIY bottle & recipe DIY dailies were what sold my partner on getting the DLC alone, with or without the customization bits. That plus being able to put his favourite starter villager Cherry into her actual house! I personally really like that I can try and make a "living pokédex" of villagers using the island. As long as I've made a house for them I can always see them walking around and interacting with things in the game, to see if I want to bring them to my main island or get their amiibo. Or I can move out old villagers I really like and not feel that bad about it since I can visit them again whenever I want! And Room Sketch is such a blessing for previewing builds with whatever customizations you want without having to go to the Airport or spend any bells til you're set.
Was looking for a recent review for the DLC and finally broke down and got it yesterday... Lol I like it so far, wish there was a scoring system like how it is in your own home! Why did they not implement that?! I've only completed two homes, or more like rooms, so far. Can't wait to make that poki so I can buy furniture.
I agree with the scoring system being a miss. I didn't feel like anything I did mattered. All I had to do was unbox whatever thing they wanted and put it anywhere and they'd be ecstatic. Not my cups of tea... I don't think I put more than 2 hours into it. Pretty big regret buying it. I am tempted to go back to unlock more items tho
You said it perfectly. If you enjoy designing (which is my FAVORITE part of the game) then Happy Home Paradise is the perfect thing for you. If you're not really interested in in-depth designing with lots of expanded features, then you can easily pass on HHP and be perfectly satisfied with the base game.
I think it is because I found that if you use the atm thingy in the office and transfer the max amount of poki every day you will get around 35,000 bells per day
I absolutely could not believe they let you order off of a catalog of the dlc items you use in houses with poki and u get to use it all on your main island, it's worth it for that alone for me.
I've been OBSESSED with the DLC! ❤️❤️❤️And oddly enough one of my career choices was interior design..🤭 Niko, Wardell and Lottie though.. 😭😍 You get perks for the game with progress completion in the DLC that alone is worth buying it imo. Great video 🌻
Thank you for this! There's a 30% off sale on it, and less than halfway through your video, I already know it's for me! I love designing and stuff! It's crazy how much time I can spend on anything from character creation/playing around with outfits in video games, to trying to make neat homes in games that let you build like Fallout 4, or even something and simple as decorating tables and shelves with items I have in something like Morrowind. I just went ahead and got this!
HHP is awesome!!! It's got such convenient decorating mechanics, and I have had so much fun decorating such stylish homes for all sorts of villagers!!! 💖💖💖
For me, the HHP DLC was the best thing that has happened to ACNH. The DLC alone is super fun and cute, but being able to use all the features in the main island and having access to Wardell's catalog is absolutely game changing!
I'm a designer; and I'm planning on getting this for my birthday (my birthday is on November 24th) it is the only thing I want because......... because..- I already have everything I want! (Yah) my familys amazing!!!!!!
Fun fact: I thought I hated designing until I got Happy Home Paradise 😂 Somehow it's allowed me to enjoy the design process without the pressure of permanence, like I would get on my main island. I only just got the DLC this month. I avoided buying it for 2 years because I truly thought I wouldn't enjoy it, as I found designing too stressful/not as enjoyable as other parts of the game. I'm having such a blast playing the DLC & it reminds me of when I first started playing ACNH. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, even if you don't enjoy designing - because HHP totally changed my opinion on designing 🥳 P.s. The reason I finally bought the DLC is because it was on sale & I wanted easier access to glowing moss 😂 I also wanted the option to change the external look of villager houses. I can't get over how much content there is in the DLC!
I actually played it when it first came out and enjoyed it but I have gotten fed up with it especially when you have deleted your game and restarted on a new island and have to restart all over again.
I have it.. ITS SO MUCH FUN! It comes with so many good things like you can trade poki for bells, which (poki is easy to get) and once you complete it, which you can also still build more houses after you complete it, you can decorate your villagers houses on your island and you can also polish stuff you can also go to the hospitals every Monday and get turnips from Daisy Mae’s mom, grandmother I’m not really sure what her name is but yeah, and she’ll give you a free turnips.
I wish we'd gotten a big DLC more geared towards the classic AC experience. The designers were already eating good with the base game and the 2.0 update.
I dunno how anyone has the patience to play without happy homes! It would’ve taken forrrrever to unlock all the items otherwise and I really wanted to play ac because of the creative aspect, building my island, hard to do without access to all the stuff. There’s only so much fishing and bug hunting one can do!
Yes is worth it due because it's connected to new horizons. Yes you do get the value of it because it's the continuaction as well as connected. Very useful connection. It's definitely beneficial. I love animal crossing.
I've been really happy with it and thought it was a perfect way to do Animal Crossing DLC. It's basically an entire spin-off game, but because it's done as DLC it also enhances the main game as well. The only downside I could see here is if someone ONLY wanted HHP and didn't want the mainline game for whatever reason.
I think I'm the only one who doesn't enjoy HHP. I used it to get items faster and to unlock features on my main island. Once I unlocked everything I never went back. I love designing too, I have a sims channel where I build, and I also love designing my island, so it's not that. I don't know why I just don't like HHP.
I took a long (like.. *long* :'D) break from ACNH, and just got back... I think I'll take it easy for a little while now, but in the future I definitely see myself buying Happy Home Paradise! I had seen the trailer and though it was lovely, I was still a bit on the fence...your video was the final push / encouragement I needed. Thanks for that! ^^
That’s good news though no? I didn’t know this and one of the main reasons I didn’t want to restart my island is because the thought of having to unlock every furniture item again feels super tedious, at least with happy homes intact I can go shop there whenever I need and I can redo the hospital, school cafe and vacation homes any time I want anyway.
Unpopular opinion but the DLC really wasn't for me, I'm not a designer which is probably why I prefer new leaf. I have the DLC just so I can change my villagers houses. Having that feature locked behind the DLC was agonising for me, I think I enjoyed it less because I just wanted that feature for my main island. If you like the sims or dollhouse style games you'll enjoy the DLC.
i definetly agree that it shouldve been included as a free update and this is coming from someone who loves designing houses and did get the dlc. it wouldve been nice if their was more too it like a better story.
Bob's gang. The two things I really hate about HHP is the inability for things to be flush (partition walls, counters, etc...) and line up (the houses will not be lined up to the entrance area). Otherwise I really liked HHP. However now that I've unlocked everything the only reason I ever use it is to get the free turnips from Joan on Mondays. I have the online pass so I didn't pay for it.
Depends, honestly. It's worth it, if you want to add more variety to you island itself, which is always a good thing. Not to mention, redecorating your neighbors homes, which comes with a pseudo price. Of you give them items after customizing their homes, they will not display it until you let them revert back to how THEY want it. Nonetheless, if you're playing New Horizons, I would say yes, if you want to complete the catalog. I have been playing since Feb 2021 and I'm still finding new furniture that not in either my home catalog or Wardell's which blew my mind. If I were to make a guess, based off of what X-ing Channel has said, some villagers will have different items to use in their home, which could potentially be added to Wardell's catalog or even your D.I.Y. list... So if you're looking to expand your creativity, heck yeah!... but get it with the Expansion Pack Plus. New Horizons is not the only game that has DLC with the pack.
I was told there was a PC Streamer set-up from a friend who owned the DLC. While I do want the expansion pass, I want to wait until more Virtual Console games get released first. I just feel like getting the expansion pass by itself first, and then buy the pass. Mainly so that I don't risk losing the DLC if subscription goes down. Is the DLC per island, or is it permanent if you decide to reset?
Bob's gang here, I bought the dlc a few months ago and it was probably the best purchase I made at that time. Last winter I spent many nights designing rooms with Harv's photo studio - the dlc has been a much welcomed upgrade from that 😂 if you love designing interior & exterior, absolutely worth it
I just bought the DLC! Cannot wait to play it, as I'm out of games to play. I'm almost done with Princess Peach: Showtime!, and I do not plan to buy any more Switch games for a while, since none of the upcoming ones interest me.
The review trailer I watched, the person reviewing it skipped over the dlc so I didn't even know it existed until I watched someone else review it, then I knew i needed the dlc
This is so funny, I just bought it yesterday after deliberating on whether I should get it or not since its release! So far, I really enjoy it and I'm glad that I got it.
Honestly, the majority of people who were complaining about the Online+ deal not letting you keep the DLC once it expires are likely the ones who weren't going to play the DLC for over a year anyways and get bored of it.
Honestly, yes!! I dont even have the membershio thing rn, and i did have to pay for this dlc, but im happy i did. It added a lot to the normal gameplay; new items, decorating a store, hospital, restaurant, villager homes, and added new abilities to decorate and change our original island homes which ive personally always wanted to do. I do love designing the homes, and it also added cute new npc characters. I love the island for the happy home paradise, and it even allows us to deisgn vacation homes for our original islanders too. So overall i loved the layout of everything and all that it added. It got me more excited to play animal crossing again and it was a great addition to the game. I personally dont have any complaints. I feel a lot happier playing the game with this addition.
I bought it day one and yeah it's totally worth it just to add more gameplay if you get burnt out by daily check ins, it adds more to do and the items it added are really awesome! I really like that if I don't want to finish designing a house I can check out and come back to finish the house later, and if you're close enough to purchase but don't have enough poki with wardell he'll let you buy it and pay him back over time!
I love HHP, on my old switch I got it when it came out and loved it! A few weeks ago that switch broke so I got a new one and was so excited to get HHP again, its by far one of my favourite features in the app and even over a year later it brings me the same amount of joy
Bob’s Gang!! I just recently got a Nintendo Switch (A gift from a friend who had a spare Switch he didn’t want anymore.) and he downloaded some games he knew I’d like, including Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I’m going to be getting Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise later this week. I love the designing feature in Animal Crossing, and I’m excited to design vacation homes for the animals, and make facilities, and unlock stuff.
I love designing in ac so it's genuinely perfect for me, not a penny wasted imo even though I haven't touched the game in a year, but I know it's not gonna be everyone's cuppa.
The fact that it makes touch trades irrelevant makes it worth it on its own, sucked dealing with ppl with crappy trade requests just so u can catalog an item that u STILL HAD TO BUY LATER. Now u can just buy from the hhp catalog as long as you've seen the items once while designing
Thank you for the video , I'm a huge ACNH fan and played a lot of it. I took a long break from it , and been meaning to get back into it. I've been back and forth about getting the dlc , ever since it came out. Your video answered like all the questions I had about it , I think I'm going to get it now. Lol
Enjoyed the video. Bought it today thinking I could build a cottage for myself (character) Seems I was wrong but doesn't matter. So many other stuff to do. Thanks!
Oo Yes this video is in time because I'm thinking of buying it 😄. I want to design Sylvana's house, because it looks bad since she was my second villager 🙈
idk if people responding to comments here anymore but, if you have other residents on the main island that aren't the president/leader can they play the dlc if the island president buys it?
I've never played animal crossing until New horizon even then I bought it because I wanted to play happy home Paradise because it looked very similar to some of the mobile designer games I play
Was really disappointed that there's no scoring system whatsoever to grade your home designs. Whether you just open up the mandatory items and let them sit where they are in an empty room or if instead you spend an hour decorating every inch of space, the payout is *exactly* the same. The game already had a grading system for your house and island. Kind of baffles me that there's not at least *something* in HHP. So the "game" aspect of the dlc isn't much of a game. It's just multiple Harv houses. That said it does offer more features and items to improve your island and complete your catalog.
Definitely worth it because eventually get to decorate Villager 's home on your own island. I didn't play HHD as ACNL burnt me out. I love the fact get to experiment with design themes and elements I spent along time designing exterior and interior combining aesthetics with functionality. Balloon gifts still drop 2.0 items but HHP allows earlier access to wide range of items. I came across Hokko Life which you can design furniture from scratch but the controls are clunky. I quit playing in order to do more RL creative projects.
1000% worth it 🤌🏽 besides receiving all of the amazing items through the DLC, the fact that you can fully re-design the residents' homes on your island is a game changer.
1 more additional comment…if after designing our villagers homes and those popped over to our new horizons villagers homes then I would have liked it more.
I had around 300 hours on ac when I first got it and it took over my life, I did buy the dlc but unfortunately because I upgraded to the oled I lost my island.. I’m thinking about downloading it again but I would need to start fresh but it’s mainly to try the dlc out as I never actually played it🙃
I HAVE A QUESTION, If i buy happy home on the Nintendo family plan do my multiple other user accounts get access to it, and also do those accounts have to already exist to get it or can i just make them whenever i want and they'll still have access? I'm planning on having multiple homes on my island and don't know what to expect when i get Happy home paradise with other counts outside my main account.
Do you need acnh to get this one or can you just get this one and play this one? Because acnh is WAY too expensive, so for me this could be a really good and cheap option
Hmmm... worth it in that I wanna remove ill-fitting furniture gifts from villagers' interiors. Honestly though, that shouldn't be such a luxurious ability. From the game's intial release I feel like HHa (Happy Home assistance) should've been included, with villagers asking for your decorating aid on Saturdays.
Heck yes! We got tons of new items, got to design a store, hospital, cafe and restaurant. We got the ability to make structural additions to our houses and the ability to change our villager houses.
I am still playing through HHP, is that where we can find the glow-in-the-dark stickers from eventually?
But how many of those awesome features can you use in the main game other than polishing things?

i asked for it for christmas because i had game burnout and now i log in everyday to see which villagers are on the beach😁
I think it's worth it because you get pillars and stuff And and Niko is so cute and I think Designing the homes is fun
Of course this comes out right after I buy HHP
Same 😂😂😂
I think I'm the only one who doesn't enjoy HHP. I used it to get items faster and to unlock features on my main island. Once I unlocked everything I never went back. I love designing too, I have a sims channel where I build, and I also love designing my island, so it's not that. I don't know why I just don't like HHP.
If you could move things around with a stylus, it’d be a lot better
I took a long (like.. *long* :'D) break from ACNH, and just got back... I think I'll take it easy for a little while now, but in the future I definitely see myself buying Happy Home Paradise! I had seen the trailer and though it was lovely, I was still a bit on the fence...your video was the final push / encouragement I needed. Thanks for that! ^^
the only issue i have w HHP is if u restart ur main island (delete it and start over) HHP wont reset, or you don't have an option to do so.
If you like the sims or dollhouse style games you'll enjoy the DLC.
thank you for this, i just got this game and looking for a non hard-core response about the dlc
i definetly agree that it shouldve been included as a free update and this is coming from someone who loves designing houses and did get the dlc. it wouldve been nice if their was more too it like a better story.
You don't need the online membership to use the DLC. My stepdaughter doesn't have Nintendo online but she's always using the DLC.
@@gwendolyndunn8021 It's permanent. The DLC is tied to the account.
I'm almost done with Princess Peach: Showtime!, and I do not plan to buy any more Switch games for a while, since none of the upcoming ones interest me.
i played happy home designer and loves it so i was super exited when they announced this
Same
The review trailer I watched, the person reviewing it skipped over the dlc so I didn't even know it existed until I watched someone else review it, then I knew i needed the dlc
For me
It wasn’t worth it as I only played it for an
Hour or
Less but for
Others who like to design I would say yes 😊
Yes it is worth it. I enjoyed it and need to get back into it. I took a break from it for awhile because I have been so busy recently.
Despite being gifted HHP December 2021. I have yet to try it out 😅
I had no idea it could affect new horizons at all. That’s so cool
I still haven't done the final upgrade on the hospital. Hopefully as I get more time I'll go back to it. I'm still playing acnh daily!! Bob's Gang!!
HHP is totally worth it and it is best dlc in my life I can finally get any items for my island!
Thank you for the video , I'm a huge ACNH fan and played a lot of it. I took a long break from it , and been meaning to get back into it. I've been back and forth about getting the dlc , ever since it came out. Your video answered like all the questions I had about it , I think I'm going to get it now. Lol
Two of my daughters & I bought ACNH when it was released & designer at release. They finished DLC in 2 months I just finished. It's worth it.
HHP is a good way to help avoid burnout.
Enjoyed the video.
Bought it today thinking I could build a cottage for myself (character) Seems I was wrong but doesn't matter. So many other stuff to do.
Thanks!
I got a very rare flooring and wallpaper from HHP the cloud flooring and star wallpaper
Renee!! She was one of my OG islanders, along with Moose.
Worth it for anyone who is a fan off decorating and getting new furniture
Was really disappointed that there's no scoring system whatsoever to grade your home designs. Whether you just open up the mandatory items and let them sit where they are in an empty room or if instead you spend an hour decorating every inch of space, the payout is *exactly* the same.
The game already had a grading system for your house and island. Kind of baffles me that there's not at least *something* in HHP. So the "game" aspect of the dlc isn't much of a game. It's just multiple Harv houses.
That said it does offer more features and items to improve your island and complete your catalog.
I like the extra message bottle a day😅
Definitely worth it because eventually get to decorate Villager 's home on your own island.
I bought Nintendo expansion pack for happy home but however I’m still stuck waiting for resident services to upgrade. I’m so excited it’s killing me 😆
This dlc really makes the game so much more fun
I’m not even a designer but this mode is just so good
I'm still trying to decide if I want to get the expansion pack and\or pay $25 for it.
I just got it on sale for $8.99 I’m excited to get into this side of the game after 3 years of playing without it
Not Felix afterwards saying “Hannah you can do better”
I personally think it's worth it I love it you get to decorate homes its something fun and also you can ruins people's dreams
I'm getting HHP for my birthday, can't wait
Geez....I put like 300 hours just on HHP. Worth it 👌
0:22 any video-game character name Niko is cute, I mean, look at ACNH and oneshot
Was debating getting the DLC and this helped me decide!! Ty!! Excited to design! Bob's gang??? 😂
don't get to attached to Nekio if we know nintendo he will be removed in the next game
Bobs gang. Thanks for this. Momma Darlo is interested in the DLC and I didn't know much about it beforehand.
1000% worth it 🤌🏽
besides receiving all of the amazing items through the DLC, the fact that you can fully re-design the residents' homes on your island is a game changer.
Thank you for posting this video! Been looking into it but I have no idea what its about
1 more additional comment…if after designing our villagers homes and those popped over to our new horizons villagers homes then I would have liked it more.
I need to get this dlc someday
i have it, Is so fun i restarted a few months ago and only started the DLC today Well, Not for the first time
I had around 300 hours on ac when I first got it and it took over my life, I did buy the dlc but unfortunately because I upgraded to the oled I lost my island.. I’m thinking about downloading it again but I would need to start fresh but it’s mainly to try the dlc out as I never actually played it🙃
I just got the dlc yesterday and it's definitely worth it
I HAVE A QUESTION, If i buy happy home on the Nintendo family plan do my multiple other user accounts get access to it, and also do those accounts have to already exist to get it or can i just make them whenever i want and they'll still have access?
I'm planning on having multiple homes on my island and don't know what to expect when i get Happy home paradise with other counts outside my main account.
Thanks for reminding me to go back to Animal Crossing
Do you need acnh to get this one or can you just get this one and play this one? Because acnh is WAY too expensive, so for me this could be a really good and cheap option
I love the dlc but like you said if you don’t like dlc then you might not like it I love designing 💕
Hmmm... worth it in that I wanna remove ill-fitting furniture gifts from villagers' interiors.
Honestly though, that shouldn't be such a luxurious ability.
From the game's intial release I feel like HHa (Happy Home assistance) should've been included,
with villagers asking for your decorating aid on Saturdays.
i love this dlc but i do have to agree, its unfair that others need to be stuck with ugly houses just because they dont want hhp
Quick answer: Hell yes. Don’t even think about it, it’s amazing.
Hi, just purchased it and cannot wait to start playing!!!
Note with "My Nintendo" You can use points to download a 2023 printable calander with villager faces on each day for their Birthday's.
Where abouts do you do this? I can’t see it on the UK Store so maybe it’s America only!
I was just concerned there would be wayyy too many in-app purchases to get anything to decorate. Are all the decor items included? Thanks in advance!
Wait, so you lose the ability to play with some of the DLC (the vacation home part) if you don't use the online membership?
I rly enjoy HHP! It’s fun and totally worth it
